Sorry for the wait, but I wanted to post this close to the first update of Her Family. So here is the last short chapter of Younger Sister. I hope it ends it on a good note for everyone. Her family will be up very soon. Hopefully, the end of today!
Disclaimer: I don't own Divergent.
Chapter 21: Not Over Yet…
"Andy!" I snap up from my crouch and run into the room with my gun aimed at my brother's head.
"What?" I ask her as I stare at my brother. I have missed him a lot. The meds are warring off, but not fast enough. I am willing to shot my brother to protect Tris. To keep my promise.
"Its fine, he's back." Tris says as she steps in front of my line.
"First, you're too short to block my view of his head, Tris." I state before lowering the gun and looking at her. "And second, don't call me like that if you're not dying." I drop the gun to my side and tell her. "I came close to shooting my own brother to protect you." Bass doesn't say anything as I walk into the room. The screens are the same as last time. I point to the screen. "Are we going to stand here and watch Caleb die?" I deadpan. They turn to the screen and Bass sits into the chair and starts typing. I stare at the screen for a second and then blot out of the room and down to the elevator and get down there as they start running at them. I run as fast as I can and stand in front of Caleb and they drop to the ground as I aim my gun at the crowd of guards. I am about to shoot as something stops them. They drop their guns and arms fall to their sides. Bass did it. I don't lower my gun, though. The guards fall to their knees and hold their heads. Then they shoot at each other. Unsure what to do, I back up until I run into Peter's hip. I watch as they start shooting at each other and shouting and attacking each other. Some are able to run off and I train my gun on them until they are at a safe distance. "Get up and follow me." I snap as I start running. I point to the door at the end of room and feel something hit me. They follow close to me and I shot the door and it flies open and I let the others go out before me and shut the door, the best I can. As soon as the door shuts, I lean on the wall next to the door as I reload my rifle.
"You okay?" Caleb asks me. I nod and load. "You're shot."
"I'm shot all over." I snap as I set my rifle to be ready to shoot. Then I raise it and face it at my father. "Drop the gun. You don't need it anymore." I deadpan out. "I don't need to aim with this. Anywhere I hit will be a kill shot." I threaten and he drops the gun and kicks it over to me. I grab it and shove it in my waist band. Caleb hands me his gun willingly and I do the same. Then the doors open and Tris runs to Caleb and they hug. The door slams shut as Bass sees our father. I grab a hand gun and aim it.
"Son." He pulls my stunned brother into a hug.
"Hey." Tris pulls away from her brother and walks over to him. She pushes him back from Bass and I walk forward and step in front of my brother. "Hey, get away from him." I narrow my eyes and aim the gun at his gut. Enough to hurt and not enough to kill. "Stay away." Tris hisses.
"Beatrice, what are you doing?" Caleb asks from behind.
"Not all those Erudite articles were full of lies." Tris says.
"What are you talking about?" Marcus asks and I click a bullet into place and aim for his leg. "I don't know what my lying, unstable daughter told you, Beatrice…" I shot the gun towards his foot and he jumps back and I smirk.
"The only reason I haven't let her shoot you yet is because they should talk and decide what to do first." Tris tells him in a low voice. "Stay away or I will let her kill you." I click another into place.
"Let me kill him." I breathe out slowly. "Give me the word and his brains will be on the ground." I slowly laugh.
"We have to go." I hear Bass speak up. "The train should be here any second." I raise the gun in the air and shoot.
"Fine." I slip the gun into the waist band and wait for the train next to the tracks. Bass and Tris can take care of each other right now. When it gets here, I hop in with no problem. I hold my hand to help Caleb, Bass, and Tris in and let the other two do whatever. Once all of us is on, I stay by the opening and look out. My hair that isn't in the braid anymore is being forced out from my hood and it flies in the wind. The pain in my aim hurts, four. I'm just collecting bullet wounds. I roll my eyes and hear Tris call my name. I turn and see her sitting next to my brother. He looks shaky. So I walk over there and crouch in front of them, taken them from the view of everyone else. "Yes, Tris." I look at her. My emotions are coming back and I don't think I can look at my brother.
"Thank you." She says quietly, sleepy. "For being there for me." I roll my eyes.
"Don't act like your dying. Don't thank me." I deadpan. "I haven't done anything worth being thanked." I look into her tired eyes. "I should be thanking you."
"No. I would have died without both of you." She pushes and I shake my head.
"You would have died without Bass. I just do what I need to do." I tell her firmly. "Don't thank me. Thank him." I motion my head to the side without looking at him. "He risked everything for you."
"Ann, just shut up and let her thank you." Bass says in his firm voice and I feel foreign tears and I bite my lip and feel the blood from the lip ring being pulled a little bit.
"You're welcome, Tris." I tell her in the strongest voice as a tear falls down my face. "God Damn it, Bass. I was trying not to break down all day." More tear fall down and face I glare at him. "I even had to be put on mood stabilizers so I can control it better." I mumble as I try to joke. I can't handle looking at him. I lean forward and wrap my arms around him and cry on his shoulder. "I was scared." I whisper into his shoulder as I feel two different hands on me. One of them is Tris.
"You can breathe now." He says. "I'm here." I settle into his lap and cry. I don't care if I'm sixteen and his eighteen. I can only handle so much.
Again, I hope it's not too short for all of you. I wanted to end on a good note. Again hopefully, Her Family will be up by the end of today. Please review and tell me of your thoughts of Younger Sister. I'm also thinking of posting another Divergent story. It's an AU and if there was no war. Following another girl the year after Tris' initiation. If you want to read it, let me know.
