Julius P.O.V.
The opening notes of the Nirvana song In Bloom rang in my ears through my black Skullcandy headphones. The headphones were like earbuds, not the big bulky headphones that went over your head. Me and my brother Tommy were in the Cooper Van. We were celebrating. I was listening to Nirvana on my CD player. I am a die hard Nirvana fan. I like the way Kurt Cobain sings. It's awesome. I was listening to Nirvana's most famous album: Nevermind. The album that has a picture of a naked baby swimming underwater in it. I was reading one of my all time favorite graphic novels: Watchmen. I love Watchmen. Watchmen, for those of you who don't know, is a comic book series created by Frank Miller that is set in an alternate history in which superheroes are treated like normal everyday people.
My favorite Watchmen characters are Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan abd The Owlman. I even watched the Watchmen movie. It was the best DC Comics superhero movie I've ever seen. I was listening to Nirvana. Sly on the other hand was looking over the passenger seat. He looked at my brother. He had a face mask that covered his lower jaw.
"Hey, Julius. Why does your brother always wear that face mask on his face?" Sly asked me. Unfortunately, I was listening to Nirvana very loud, so I couldn't hear what Sly said to me. I then felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up from my Watchmen graphic novel to see that Bentley was nudging me. I paused my music and took off my headphones.
"Hey Julius, what happened to your brother Tommy." Sly asked me. "Why does he always wear that face mask all the time?"
"Tommy broke his jaw during a bike riding accident that happened a couple of years ago." I said to Sly and the gang. "2 years ago, me and my brother had just got done seeing the live action movie adaptation of the Japanese anime Ghost in the Shell, which if you guys don't know is about this cyborg humanoid woman who works for this police force that was called Public Security Section 9. I was a big fan of the Ghost in the Shell anime. Anyway, me and my brother Tommy watched the Ghost in the Shell movie together."
"Me and my brother always did stuff together because my mother was way too busy working as an editor for the local newspaper company called the Trentonian. At nights, she worked at Burger King. Me and Tommy were planning on racing home together, with me on my skateboard and Tommy on his new bike that he had recently gotten for his birthday. Everything was going smoothly, until on one block, Tommy was just about to cross the street whrn his girlfriend Francine appeared on the opposite road of where Tommy was and she tried to talk to him."
"Unfortunately, Tommy was so busy trying to talk to Francine that he didn't noticed the curb. He was going pretty fast on his bike. His bike hit the curb and he flew off of his bike. He landed on his jaw. It broke almost instantly. It was as if his jaw was made out of glass. I came around the corner and I found my brother in a bloody heap. It was horrifying. I immediately called the ambulance. The ambulance got over to where my brother was and they took him to the hospital. I cried a lot. A few hours later, I found out that my brother's jaw was almost completely fractured."
"The hospital staff had built a special harness that held up my brother's jaw. The doctors said that Tommy was extremely lucky that he was able to move his jaw up and down to allow fluids abd food. Tommy lost the ability to speak during the accident. His only form of communication is a composition notebook. We were going to try using sign language, but upon learning how difficult that was it to be to learn sign language, my family decided to teach Tommy how to write and my mom and dad gave my brother a whole bunch of noteboks for him to write his statements. It gas been that way ever since."
When I finished my story of how Tommy became mute to the Cooper Gang, everyone was silent. After a few minutes, Sly said, "Holy crap. I'm lucky that your brother was able to survive a bike riding accident like that. He could've broken his meck and died on impact."
"It's very lucky that Tommy survived his bike riding accident with just a fractured jaw." I said. "If he had broken his neck, he wouldn't be sitting in the back of this van in a virtual world. He would be dead."
I soon went back to listening to Nirvana on my CD player. I was just about to pick up one of my books when suddenly I saw a human teenaged girl suddenly appear out of thin air. The girl had carrot colored long straight and curly hair. She wore a blue sweatshirt with the Nike logo on it with some jeans. The girl wore yellow framed glasses with hazel eyes. I immediately recognized this girl as none other than my best friend Savannah Greenwood. This was insane. Savannah slowly woke up. She looked at me, Bentley, Tommy, Sly and Murray. She found herself in the Cooper Van.
"Julius. Tommy. What the hell are you guys doing here?" Savannah said to me and my brother.
"I was about to ask you the exact same thing." I said to Savannah.
"Who are you?" Bentley asked Savannah.
"My name is Savannah. Savannah Greenwood." Savannah said to the turtle.
"Savannah. That's a nice name." Sly said.
"Thanks." Savannah said to Sly.
"My name is Sly. Sly Cooper." The raccoon said to my friend Savannah. "This is my best friend Bentley and the person driving this van is named Murray."
"I already know Julius and Tommy since I was best friends with him since I was eight." Savannah said.
"That's good to know." Bentley said.
"How did you get here Savannah?" I asked Savannah.
"I don't really know. One minute I was in my bedroom playing a video game, the next minute, a bolt of lightning struck my TV and the next thing you know, I find myself in a van with my favorite video game characters." I was surprised by Savannah's statement. There was no way that she ended up in the Sly Cooper world in the exact same way that me and my brother had.
"That's impossible." I said to my girlfriend. "That's the exact same way I ended up here."
Savannah started to laugh like this was some kind of joke.
"It's not a joke. I'm serious. That's the exact way how me and Tommy ended up in this world." I saif to Savannah. She immediately stopped laughing upon hearing my statement.
"You serious?" Savannah asked me.
"Yes." I said. "The way in which you explained how you ended up I'm this world is exactly how me and Tommy ended up here."
Savannah took a moment to let this moment sink in. After a few minutes, she said to me, "When did you and your brother get sucked into this world?"
"July 16." I said to Savannah. "Why?"
"You've been gone for a month?" Savannah said.
"Yeah. You got a problem with it?" I asked Savannah.
"What are your parents going think when they find that you, your brother, and me are in a video game on the PlayStation 2?" Savannah said to me.
"I have no idea, Savannah." I said. I honestly didn't think about how my parents would react if they found out that me and Tommy were in a video game that had anthropomorphic animals in it. They would probably freak out or go insane. I realized right then and there just how much I had taken the human world for granted. Before I ended up in the Sly Cooper world, I was nothing but a tech obsessed teenager who spent little time with family or other people. I acted like I was in my own little world. Now, I was in a virtual world. This was a wake up call for me. I seriously wished that I was back in my world in New Jersey with my parents. I wish I wouldn't have taken my family for granted. I don't know how much longer I was gonna be stuck in this world for.
What if me, my brother and Savannah were stuck in the Sly Cooper world for all eternity? What if we never go back to the human world?
