Chapter 23 - Plan E.

"And you allowed me to return the gun!?" Asuka yelled as she heard about Misato's dream, running her hand to her hair in shock at what she had heard. Hearing that Shinji had gone back to NERV and used the gun she had returned to kill her father and then kill himself was a big blow to Asuka.

With memories of her mother's suicide flooding her head, Asuka was afraid of history repeating itself, she was afraid of losing another dear person in her life, her mind was screaming telling her to do something.

- It's not going to happen! It won't! - Asuka thought determinedly and with strong fear, she just wanted Shinji back.

"And you expected what, Asuka?!" Misato retorted strongly annoyed, Mari was just listening to everything intently, she didn't want to be in the middle of the fight of the two women who were more intimate with Shinji.

"Having said that before!" Asuka retorted as her face turned red with anger, not having liked Misato having such information and not telling her before, Asuka's mind was thinking about what might happen to Shinji.

"Of course!" Misato retorted as she gestured with her hands, speaking strongly to Asuka using a tone of debauchery. "I was going to show up in your room and say! Hi Asuka, I just met with the fifth son and he showed me the future!"

Asuka felt the words, she knew Misato was correct, most likely she would be thinking her commander was going crazy, with a long sigh, the angry redhead calmed down to the point where she could speak without screaming.

"So ... He's going to NERV?"

Misato only nodded, still praying that the dream had only been one big coincidence. "If everything is true, yes."

"What else do you remember?" Mari asked as she entered the conversation, she was speaking seriously as she crossed her arms. "Anything helps."

Misato calmed down enough to remember, with a tired sigh, the Wunder's commander sat back in her chair, searching her mind for everything she could to remember the dream. "I remember seeing the Wunder in the background, it was raining hard, there was an EVA on the hull."

"One?" Asuka asked as she imagined it, she didn't understand the reason for only having one EVA in such a situation, Wunder had two EVAs and why not use them?

Mari also had this thought in her head, but unlike Asuka, she decided not to ask, Misato was already preparing to answer.

"Yes, the fifth son told me that things around them changed, but not the end result." Misato spoke as she brought her hand to her forehead, she felt a shiver run through her body as she remembered Shinji lying on the ground with Wunder in the background. "I remember I could see a small transport ship leaving the Wunder, but they didn't arrive in time, Shinji had killed Gendo and then..."

Misato couldn't finish speaking, Asuka and Mari lowered their gaze as they learned how this story ended, their minds still letting the moment that passed sink in.

Asuka was clenching her fists as she crossed her arms, her eye patch glowing brightly in blue, Asuka locked her eyes all the time on the WILLE logo on the wall, still unable to believe the betrayal they had done.

"What can we do now?" Mari asked to break the silence that reigned in the messy office.

"Let's go to NERV." Misato spoke as he faced his desk, looking at his papers strewn across the floor, "I won't let it end like this."

"But I don't want to be pessimistic." Mari spoke apprehensively. "I want to help Shinji as much as you do, but you said yourself that we didn't make it in time."

"I will not allow it to end like this!" Misato repeated her last sentence more forcefully as she stared at Mari with great intensity.

Mari nodded, with her mind still having serious doubts about this, she wished she could look for any ideas that could help at times like this.

Asuka saw everything in front of her, but one thing that stuck in her mind, WILLE wanted Shinji now and if Wunder saved his life, what would it look like?

Misato saw Asuka shake her head, she could see that the girl was thinking about something, her mind wanted to know what was going on in the redheaded girl's head, knowing that things were a bit more complicated for Asuka, seeing how she had managed to get close to Shinji these past few days, and having all that ripped away shouldn't be easy.

Looking at Asuka, Misato was thinking about everything, her mind was in Wunder's commander mode, but unlike before, she wanted as much information as possible to formulate some impossible plan in her mind, anything could help at a moment like this, still staring at Asuka strongly, Misato asked in a firm and controlled voice.

"What? Can I see that you have something going through your head now?"

Asuka only locked her eyes on Misato, trying her best to control her emotions at times like this, the fiery redhead never remembered getting so agitated before, not even before the most difficult missions.

Still staring at Misato, Asuka was judging whether to say what was going through her head at times like this, still trying to look for solutions to remedy this situation.

"You know what, fuck you." Asuka spoke dryly, gesturing with her hands to prove her point. "I'm just thinking about everything. Even if we find a miraculous solution to get Shinji back, WILLE will still want his head."

Mari looked down when she heard that Asuka was right, she had heard Yamamoto say that a caravan was being prepared to take Shinji to prison again, but she had to help control this situation they had at the moment.

Misato lowered her gaze as she listened to Asuka, she had thought of something similar before, but as her mind was heavily agitated with everything that was happening, even the worst missions in this war hadn't been able to do anything compared to this. Feeling the strong pressure on her back, Misato didn't know what to do.

Mari moistened her lips, she was seeing the anguish in both of their gazes, she herself was strongly anxious. "Guys." Called Mari, but her plea was not heard.

"Guys!" Mari spoke more forcefully, having gotten the attention she wanted, she just hoped she could somehow help, the mood was bad in the room, Mari was thinking of the right words for this moment.

Misato looked at Mari and waited, she wished she could hear anything that might help at this moment.

Asuka faced her sister with a strong look, she was waiting for Mari's words, her mind still had the image of Shinji, his eyes reflecting the paranoia and betrayal, everything he had evolved was destroyed. Blinking to clear that thought, Asuka just waited.

Mari hadn't found the right words yet, but she had to say something at a time like this, so a simple thought came into her mind, judging them to be the most appropriate for the moment at hand. "Let's think about saving his life first, then after we solve that, we'll think about the next challenge."

Misato listened to everything intently, her body didn't show it, but her mind understood the point, she knew that if she couldn't save Shinji, they wouldn't have to deal with WILLE, with a slight nod Misato thought to herself.

Asuka on the other hand didn't take too well to all this, shaking her head to the side showing her displeasure.

Mari only listened when Asuka began to giggle sarcastically, she only listened when her sister spoke with a fake laugh.

"Four eyes, you are so innocent." Asuka spoke debauchedly, Misato raised an eyebrow in confusion. "How are we going to do this? Explain it to me?"

"I don't know, but we'll find a way." Mari replied as she sensed the venom in Asuka's voice, not liking her sister's tone, she was using a defeated tone.

"It's WILLE we're talking about Mari!" Asuka exploded as she gestured into the air showing her point. "They're the ones in control of this shit! How can we do anything about it?!"

"Easy then isn't it, Asuka!?" Mari finally lost her cool as she stood up and shouted to Asuka, her hands were shaking with the contained anger and adrenaline. "I'm trying to find a way to help the puppy! Then why don't we let him finish what he started! If there's no way at all! At least we can spare him the suffering!"

Misato's eyes widened at Mari's outburst, one thing she was not going to do, never that she would not try to save Shinji's life, Misato could see that Mari was only strongly upset.

Asuka's eyes widened in shock, this was one of the rare times Mari lost her temper, but her words hit her hard. "You think that's what I want, Mari?!"

Mari stared at her in shock, widening her eyes from behind her glasses as she rebutted annoyed. "You tell me!? I'm trying to find a solution! But it looks like we don't stand a chance!"

"I didn't say we didn't have a chance!" Asuka tried to rebut, but had been cut off by Mari.

"But that's what you said!" Mari spoke as she faced Asuka, she could see that she was strongly annoyed with everything by the posture she had and the strong glare on her eye patch. "How was it 'WILLE controls the world'!?" Mari spoke gesturing with her hands.

"Don't lecture me Mari!" Asuka spoke as she stepped forward, she could feel her body being strongly upset at her sister's words, she was not liking Mari's implication.

"Explain it to me then?" Mari spoke refinedly as she approached Asuka, she was not afraid of Asuka, she would not be afraid to face her sister.

"I just want to find a solution for Shinji!" Asuka shouted as she felt her blood boiling, but soon she began to feel emotion taking over her body. "I don't want him to die!"

Mari softened as she listened to Asuka's last sentence, along with all of Shinji's friends, she did not wish him harm, Mari knew that facing WILLE was a very difficult task indeed. "Me too Asuka."

Misato took a few breaths to calm herself down, she could see that Asuka and Mari were at their limits, she herself was at her limit. "Girls, let's think of a solution."

Mari and Asuka exchanged a look, but they soon calmed down, with each returning to her corner of the room.

Misato gave a long sigh, she closed her eyes to calm down, she knew that being angry she could never think straight, her mind should be calm and controlled to find a solution for Shinji.

"I know we are all tired and frustrated." Misato began to speak, still with her eyes closed, but she could feel the eyes glued on her. "We'll find a way, we'll get Shinji home alive and well, then we'll find a way to help him regarding WILLE."

Reopening her eyes, she could see the look on Mari and Asuka's faces, both had a downcast look, for sure everyone in that room didn't know how, but at least they would try something. Soon a silence reigned, they all just exchanged glances with each other.

A soft beep echoed through the room, all eyes fell on Misato's monitor, which showed a simple message, the WILLE commando wanted to talk to her.

"Shit." Misato spoke as she put her hands together over her face and grumbled.

"I'm going to tell that old traitor to take it up the ass! " Asuka grumbled as she walked to the computer hoping to get her revenge.

"You will do nothing Asuka!" Misato ordered as he pushed Asuka away from the transmission. "I'm going to talk to him. You will stand there in the corner and be quiet!"

Asuka gave a snort as she walked away, she stopped next to Mari and both only looked at Misato who was preparing to communicate with WILLE command, but before she answered, she locked her eyes on Mari and Asuka, speaking in Wunder commander mode. "When I am with command, you are not to speak! No matter what you listen to. Got it?!"

Mari only nodded, she had a dark look on her face, wanting to say everything she thought to the WILLE command, but Misato was right, she would have to keep her opinions to herself.

Asuka bit her lip to control her mouth, she wanted to show all her annoyance about the whole thing, feeling that she would have to make a great effort to control herself, she just mumbled her answer. "Whatever."

Misato only kept her beastly gaze on the two women in her living room, adjusting her uniform as best he could with a few commands on her keyboard, feeling anger and disgust when the image of General Yamamoto appeared on the screen. "Sir."

Yamamoto only faced Misato with a strong look, he could see that she was upset, but that didn't intimidate him. "Colonel Katsuragi."

Mari and Asuka had to make a great effort not to speak or shout at this point.

"Is the prisoner in custody yet?" Yamamoto asked with his hands over his face, his voice was cold and calm, not in the least bit sorry about what he had done.

"No." Misato replied as professionally as possible. "He managed to escape."

Yamamoto clasped his hands in visible annoyance, asking in a cold, strong voice. "Can you tell me how this happened?"

"Sir, with all due respect." Misato began to speak, wearing her cold mask that she had cultivated in all these years. "If we were informed earlier, none of this would have happened."

"Informing you was not a priority." Yamamoto spoke with his strong posture.

"Sir, until recently Shinji Ikari was a strong member of my crew." Misato spoke as she put more strength into her voice, with one thought in mind, she was just waiting for the best moment.

With a bored sigh, Yamamoto spoke as he lowered his hands. "Colonel Katsuragi, the Ikari lineage have always been manipulative, have you forgotten that he caused all this? Or has he managed to change your mind about it as well? "

"Handlers?" Misato asked as she adjusted herself as well, approaching the screen. "That's not what we saw a few days ago."

"What do you mean Colonel?" Yamamoto asked as he lost his posture momentarily, but he must already know what information that was.

"Wunder received a transmission a few days ago, some crew members had access." Misato retorted confidently. "Subcommander Akagi is currently analyzing it."

"That transmission shows something else, and that is extremely different from what is in the official reports." Misato spoke controlledly, showing that the ball was now with her.

Misato noticed Yamamoto lose his posture, smiling internally as he saw that he had hit a nerve. "My question is, why is Shinji still being treated as a criminal if he wasn't the one who caused all this? Everyone saw when it was an unknown EVA that caused the third impact."

Yamamoto closed her eyes and let out a sigh, she knew that Wunder might have the information about the third impact, her mind dulled slightly as she already knew what she would have to do.

"Colonel Katsuragi, I'll tell you something, when the world was destroyed, again, the world wanted a culprit and we had to give them a culprit." Yamamoto spoke calmly and quietly, he could see that Misato stirred upon hearing this. "Then we had to give them something."

Mari and Asuka looked at each other wide-eyed, they were hearing that WILLE blatantly put the blame on Shinji because she wanted to.

Asuka clenched her hands in annoyance, but controlled herself enough to keep control and continue listening.

Yamamoto smiled as he saw that he had managed to keep his point. "What did you think Katsuragi, that the boy would come off as a victim? That the world would accept that the son of the man who orchestrated all this knew nothing?"

"Sir, that's not fair." Misato spoke slightly annoyed. "I can't accept the fact that WILLE put the blame on an innocent man, and how will it be now? Even if we catch him what will it look like?"

"Simple." Yamamoto spoke up. "Let's get on with it, and I suggest you do the same. "

Misato's eyes narrowed slightly as she heard this, she could sense the threatening tone Yamamoto used at the end.

"WILLE controls the security of the world, we cannot have our credibility destroyed because of one person and I will not hesitate to take out anyone who can prevent the world from being at peace." Yamamoto spoke strongly as he stared Misato in the eye. "He is just one person colonel, one person is not worth the world."

Misato controlled himself with all her strength. "Sir, respectfully I refuse to believe it, if the invader can get into Wunder, to me it's only a matter of time before this is delivered to the world. And another thing, Shinji Ikari doesn't deserve that."

"Shinji Ikari was once a colonel! Even if the truth comes out, do you think the world will accept it?" Yamamoto spoke arrogantly. "Do you think he'll be accepted in society? He won't, so look at it this way Colonel, we'll just speed things up, he's destroyed and tired, let's put him to sleep and everyone wins out of it."

Misato finally lost her strong stance, she stared at Yamamoto in disbelief. "So WILLE is going to kill an innocent? Is that what we've become, a NERV with another symbol?!"

"It doesn't matter what you think!" Yamamoto retorted annoyed. "The issue here is the world, we have to maintain control! And if killing an innocent is necessary to maintain order and peace, it will be done!"

Misato only stared at Yamamoto angrily, she wished she could get into the computer to punch him in the face and show everyone what they were really about, but unfortunately she was in Wunder.

"Son of a bitch." Asuka whispered as she clasped her hands tightly, Mari was in the same at her side. "Fucking bastard."

Misato realized this, she just stared at Yamamoto through the screen. "So Colonel, these are your orders, bring Shinji Ikari into custody! And see to it that this leak is controlled, think of the safety of your crew! "

Misato only stared when Yamamoto turned off the transmission, she closed her fists as she stood up, she exchanged a quick glance with Mari and Asuka, nothing needed to be said between them.

Tokyo 3

Heavy clouds hung over the old fortress, Shinji stood looking at what was left of the old city, once proud of keeping the world safe, thousands of people lived in this now ruined city.

Inhaling, Shinji locked his eyes on the now fallen Geofront, closing his eyes as he remembered how he got there, Shinji used great mental strength to clear his memory of Kaworu and his plan to fix the third impact.

Small raindrops were falling on his EVA, feeling like he was outside, Shinji again closed his eyes to concentrate on what he was going to do, knowing that if everything went as it should, this would be the last time he would pilot the EVA.

With slight nods, Shinji concentrated, he was thinking about what he would face as he approached, surely his father must already know of his presence, reopening his eyes, he lost himself again in the red landscape, seeing how dead the place was.

"Come on." Shinji spoke as he sat down and picked up his controls, he knew that his mission was very difficult, that there was a possibility that everything would go wrong and he would never get anywhere near the Geofront, but his determination was strong, he had to at least try, for his final destination was locked in, victory or defeat.

With a command, Shinji only noticed when the shoulder compartment of his EVA opened, seeing the progressive knife and picking it up, Shinji looked at the sharp object, it was as if he himself had a knife in his hands.

Feeling his mother's presence inside the plug, Shinji could feel the doubt, but as always, he managed to suppress that urge to retreat. "Come on mom, let's stop dad."

Shinji only pressed his controls harder, ordering him to run towards the Geofront.

Heavy footsteps echoed across the old landscape, clouds of red dust rose with each step EVA 01 took, seeing how the houses collapsed with the impacts, Shinji just ran and waited.

A loud beep echoed through the plug, showing that something was approaching, several warning dots showed that its presence was finally noticed. "This is it!"

Ordering his EVA to stop, the ground shook with the pressure, the ground tore as he felt at EVA 01 stopping.

Raising his knife and standing in a defensive position, Shinji knew he would be at a serious disadvantage, soon his eyes locked on his enemies, a handful of Mark 06 landed in front of him, all the EVAs carried a scythe.

With a determined smile, Shinji only shouted as he attacked. "Animals may come!"

Running towards the enemy, Shinji noticed that the Mark 06 were doing the same, the first to try to attack Shinji raised his scythe up high, seeing this and with a quick movement, Shinji raised his knife to prevent contact.

Feeling the impact, Shinji saw sparks fly as he saw his knife blocking the scythe that was attacking him, he saw another approaching from the corner of his vision, Shinji tried to kick his first enemy in the abdomen.

Deflecting narrowly, Shinji ordered his EVA to jump back, watching as the scythe passed within inches of his EVA's head. "Ah!" Shinji shouted in determination as he used his knife to attack.

With a quick and powerful move, Shinji managed to get his knife to hit Mark 06's armpit, he knew that the Dummy system felt no pain and this blow must have done little for his enemy's agility.

Turning his head back, Shinji quickly saw another trying to invest from behind his back, using his free hand to project an AT field to protect himself. "No! You won't!"

Buying a little time with the enemies trying to break through his field, the sound of breaking glass was getting louder and louder at this point, Shinji soon realized he would have to get a stronger weapon, his knife could do little against the heavily armored enemy.

His front was still on the two enemies, Shinji only watched as they both ran toward him with weapons raised and prepared to attack.

With a small roar, Shinji advanced, dodging the onslaughts as best he could, both Mark 06 was attacking with everything they could, Shinji knew he couldn't keep dodging forever, he had to get a margin to attack.

Seeing that he still had his knife in hand, his eyes soon fell on his AT field, realizing how increasingly fragile he was becoming with the blows of Marks 06. "Time to turn the tables!"

Seeing the opportunity he wanted, Shinji used his leg so he could gain some space. "Get back you idiot!" Using his anger to gain more energy, Shinji delivered a powerful kick to one of the Mark 06's abdomen causing him to fall several feet away.

With only a single enemy in front of him, Shinji soon tried to attack, with a leap upwards, with a fierce scream, Shinji saw when Mark 06 used his scythe to defend himself, but the impact of the fall was enough to knock the powerful Mark 06 down.

"Take that!" Shinji shouted as he began to deliver powerful stabs to his opponent's face, watching as the knife went in and out of Mark 06's flesh, Shinji felt as his opponent's blood splattered on his EVA's face.

Blinded by anger, Shinji didn't notice when his AT field destroyed itself, still focused on destroying his enemy, Shinji didn't notice when one of the Mark 06 jumped up and aimed his scythe at EVA 01's back.

Falling hard, Mark 06 managed to hit the cervical region of EVA 01, seeing how the scythe easily managed to penetrate Shinji's armor.

"Ha!" Shinji shouted as he felt the pain of the nerve returning from the wound, feeling the metal on his back, he only cursed himself at being careless. "Idiot!"

Feeling that the enemy was wanting to pull his weapon, Shinji felt the metal moving, this was hurting, but he now had an opportunity, rolling sideways, Shinji finally managed to disarm his opponent.

Trying to get up and walk away, Shinji could see the enemies in front of him, he knew he couldn't stay like this forever, he knew there was more waiting for him with each step he took closer to the Geofront.

Still with the scythe on his back, Shinji could feel its handle, roaring in pain as he felt the scythe coming out of his back, but the suffering was worth it, now he had a better weapon. "Now you do." Shinji spoke as he smiled, his determination was dealing with the pain.

Spinning the scythe between his hands, Shinji prepared himself for the new wave of attacks. "You may come!" Shinji shouted as he stepped forward.

Raising the scythe high into the air, Shinji quickly began to deliver blows, sparks flew through the air as he defended each one, but this time, the scythe managed to hit.

Smiling as he saw that his blows were at least damaging his strong armor, Shinji laughed as he saw that at least the Mark 06 were backing away from being hit.

"Take that!" Shinji growled as he moved forward, giving the Mark 06 no room to hit him, quickly Shinji attacked, spinning his scythe horizontally and managing to open a heavy cut on the Mark 06's belly.

Smiling in triumph as he saw his enemy falling to the ground with emptying guts, but the fight wasn't over yet, he knew that only by destroying the entry plugs would these creatures die.

Using his scythe to hit the chest region again, with one strong blow, Shinji hit it right in the middle, the blade of the scythe was long enough to hit the plug. "Die!"

Seeing how his opponent's movements stopped, Shinji smiled as he saw that at least one he managed to defeat, but his smile was short-lived.

Looking up, he might get a glimpse of another opponent, seeing how another Mark 06 jumped, Shinji only rolled to the side, but it didn't stop him from being hit in the shoulder, it wasn't enough to debilitate his EVA, but a big gash was opened.

Growling as he felt the pain, Shinji tried to raise his VAS, he knew that using his damaged arm would give him a disadvantage, but he would have to swallow the pain, using his scythe to defend himself from the attacks he received.

Seeing that he was being surrounded, Shinji jumped to get away and buy some time, soon Shinji's eyes fell on the enemies running to his position, he just waited with his scythe in the defense position.

"Let's go." Shinji whispered to himself as he got ready, closing his eyes for a brief moment. "You did it."

Feeling a wave of determination coursing through his body, feeling the raindrops hitting the armor of his EVA, Shinji reopened his eyes, he could see the enemies running towards him, but this time he felt different.

Raising his weapon, Shinji quickly ran toward his enemies, turning the scythe and hitting his targets.

With clean and accurate movements, Shinji could see when his scythe hit key parts of his opponents, with his eyes locked on his weapons, Shinji dodged the movements with jumps to the sides, but with each strike received, a blow was struck to his enemies.

Watching as if in slow motion, Shinji only saw as his scythe severed one of the nearest Mark 06 members. "Take that idiot!" Shinji shouted as he spun his weapon and with a clean cut, split his nearest enemy in two.

Seeing that one Mark 06 was still alive, but heavily incapacitated, Shinji ran to the next, watching as he took steps backwards in caution. "Coward!"

Raising his scythe high into the air, Shinji noticed when his blow was blocked, watching as sparks flew in the heavy rain falling on Tokyo 03, roaring to gain more strength. "Come on!"

Looking to the side, Shinji widened his eyes as he saw one of the enemies running, heading in his direction. "Shit!" Shinji yelled as he tried to get away, but it wasn't fast enough.

Shinji only closed his eyes as he felt the pain of Mark 06's scythe penetrating his abdomen, putting his hands on his own belly, screaming as he felt the pain of having his organs being crushed with every centimeter that the scythe sank into his belly.

Without having time to react, Shinji soon felt another blow, this time one of Mark 06 hit him in the face, feeling his EVA falling backwards, Shinji was still foggy minded with the blow to his abdomen.

Looking up, he could see when the Mark 06 approached, feeling the blade of the scythe being removed from his abdomen, Shinji only saw when the two prepared to finish his enemy.

"No." Shinji spoke as he wriggled in his seat, he couldn't fall now, he had too much to do. "No." Seeing how Mark 06 raised his weapons high, Shinji roared harder. "No!"

A strong AT field appeared in front of him, sending the two Mark 06's away, getting up and with a fierce and determined look on his face, Shinji ignored his injury, ignored the pain, he just wanted to kill. "Die!"

Picking up his scythe and going towards the opponent, with quick and violent movements, Shinji could see when parts of EVAS flew through the air, feeling the pressure on his scythe with each blow he dealt to his enemies.

Roaring with a ferocious animal, Shinji used his hands to reach for the entry plugs, tearing the flesh of his enemies with his hands and throwing the pieces away, the blood of Mark 06 stained the ground of Tokyo 03. "Die! Die!"

Crushing the entry plug, Shinji only faced his last opponent, looking at him with an animalistic look, Shinji saw him as prey, something about to be slaughtered. Overcome with anger, Shinji spoke smiling as he ordered his EVA forward. "Your turn!"

Geofront

Gendo was in his living room, he was already aware of what was happening outside, keeping his hands strongly in front of his face in their classic position, he only spoke when he saw the image of the EVA 01 trucidating his Mark 06, one by one they were falling under the fury of the purple beast.

"Something is wrong."

"What is it?" Kozo asked as he approached, he was looking at his works being defeated very easily by Shinji.

"Unit 01 is alone, WILLE should be together." Gendo spoke anxiously, but his posture managed to hide it well.

Fuyutsuki only watched as Gendo abruptly stood up and began walking out of his partially destroyed office. "Contact the sympathizers."

Kozo just watched Gendo go towards the door with quickened steps, he could see that Gendo was anxious, only nodding at the order he had received.

Gendo was walking with accelerated steps, heading into the depths of the destroyed Geofront, he had to protect his creation, he had to prevent WILLE from getting their hands on his most needed possession, the key that would give access to his scenario.

Gendo only heard the heavy metal doors opening with an agonizing sound, but his eyes never left his EVA, walking over to the consoles and typing frantically.

In the background was his Mark 13, still with Longinus' two spears through its core, once the awakened beast, now a caged giant, its four arms bound tightly to prevent any movement.

With the sound of doors opening, Gendo only watched as the four-armed giant began to move, soon he was out of sight, hiding in a place only he could know, just waiting for his call.

(*)

Strong lightning ripped through the sky, Shinji was only standing still, with the rain bathing the blood of his opponents, beside him were what was left of the Mark 06, parts of fallen EVAs beside him, the ground stained with his blood, the purple giant was only standing still, his armor heavily damaged.

Walking to the Geofront, Shinji closed his eyes, this would be the last time he would enter EVA 01. "Mom ... Thank you so much for your help." Using his hand to open the heavy metal doors of NERV, Shinji saw to it that his EVA was placed in the deactivation position. With a few commands, Shinji watched as his EVA deactivated, feeling the entry plug being pulled out.

Standing in the rain, Shinji took one last look at the purple giant now standing in the off position, with a sad smile he headed towards one of the now broken down old NERV doors.

Inside the old base Shinji tried to draw his gun, he could see the destroyed place, various debris fallen to the ground from countless previous battles, holding strongly his gun, his faithful friend, his Beretta 9mm Shinji progressed. "Just a little more old friend."

Only the sound of his footsteps echoed through the old corridors of NERV, his eyes fixed ahead in search of any enemies, soon his ears noticed something, a sound not far away.

Walking cautiously, Shinji approached until he could identify what was being said, knowing that Gendo was hiding behind SEELE supporters who believed in his cause, his eyes locked on his targets acting so arrogant and pretentious in not being prepared for an invasion.

Poor bastards, they never realized what hit them, only a red cloud came off the heads of the two, both were now dead. Shinji ran to the bodies, grabbing all the available equipment he could carry, ammunition for his gun and grenades.

As he advanced, more sympathizers were shot, Shinji only had a single image in his head, he wanted his father, nothing more than that. As more shots were fired, more sympathizers were alerted by his presence.

Seeing a long corridor, Shinji walked cautiously, as he turned a corner, his eyes widened as he came across a pair of sympathizers. "Shit!" Shinji yelled as he turned as fast as he could, so did the sympathizers.

Firing at almost the same time, Shinji realized when he managed to hit one of them, but his second shot was not as accurate, falling to the ground to seek cover.

Squeezing the trigger with all his might, Shinji doesn't know how many shots he took, but at least he hit his target, seeing how the sympathizer was lying with several holes through his face and neck.

Getting up as best he could, Shinji tried to steady himself, but a sharp pain in his abdomen made him fall to the ground again, looking down he could see a small hole, growling as he saw that he had been hit. "Shit."

Using all his strength, Shinji stood up, returning to his journey, but his injuries prevented him from moving forward quickly, frowning at every twinge of pain he received.

"Dude what are we doing here?" One of the sympathizers spoke apprehensively.

"Protecting the scenery..." One of his colleagues started to speak, but his voice stopped abruptly, his colleague only looked on in horror as his partner fell with a hole in his head.

Feeling panic growing, he turned and ran out of the room, crossing paths with another along the way, using his hand to try to warn off the danger. "No! Run!" Knowing that this was no good, soon the two sympathizers ran.

Shinji only quickened his steps, he knew that one of them had escaped, as the corridor was straight, he only raised his gun and shot forward. "Here!"

Smiling as he heard the sound of a thud, Shinji quickened his steps until he reached his destination, taking more shots through the smoke that appeared in front of him.

"Let's go!" Shouted one of the men who was running through the smoke, but a firing sound made him fall to the ground, stopping his path, one of the sympathizers turned back to help his comrade.

Shinji seeing his target, overcome by anger and betrayal, only aimed his gun, with a single shot, his target fell to the ground motionless, approaching the scene, Shinji passed through the smoke when he saw the body on the ground, but the man next to him was only wounded, looking with disdain at him.

"Please." Begged the injured man, he had a wound on his back.

"Die!" Shinji spoke firmly as he aimed his 9mm Beretta at the soldier's head, with a sharp sound, the man's brains splattered on the ground.

Feeling no remorse, Shinji quickly continued his pace, walking with accelerated steps through the corridors, adrenaline giving him the energy to ignore the pain in his body.

Running through the corridors Shinji came across a familiar environment, Shinji watched as two people appeared in front of him, he only narrowed his eyes when he saw his targets, Gendo and Fuyutsuki standing there discussing something.

"Hi Dad!" Shinji shouted as he pointed the gun, he could see Kozo's shocked look on seeing him.

Gendo only turned and ran, Kozo felt paralyzed in place, Shinji raised his gun and fired, but Gendo was more agile, turning a corner towards his office.

With his eyes now locked on Kozo, Shinji stared at him angrily.

"Ikari." Kozo spoke apprehensively, he raised his hands as a sign of peace. "Let's talk."

Shinji only smiled, he was ready to kill Kozo, but a memory came up, something that made him think about his actions.

Kozo only saw when Shinji lowered the gun and got a lost look on his face, but that was short-lived, Kozo felt a sharp pain in his knee, falling to the ground as he tried to control the pain.

Shinji only watched his former sub-commander fall to the ground gasping in pain. "You don't think it changes what I think of you, but that's a thank you." Shinji only watched as Kozo stared at him with a shocked look. "That's a thank you for my mother's picture."

Kozo only cried out as he felt his other knee being shot, Shinji spoke dismissively. "That's for ruining my life."

Turning and leaving, Shinji left the injured man behind, he knew that a person like Fuyutsuki would not last long after such an injury, he went back to find his father.

A heavy rain was falling on Tokyo 3, heavy lightning was tearing through the skies of the old headquarters city, Misato Katsuragi's eyes were firmly fixed on the scene in front of him, feeling his hand shaking with the carnage of fallen EVA unit bodies.

Looking at how they were slaughtered by a single enemy with their final attempts to defend their boss in NERV, parts of EVAS could be seen scattered across the red ground, all of them making a beeline for their attacker.

"Approaching ma'am." Hyuga spoke from his seat, he was wary since the incidents of the previous days, everyone on the ship was, they couldn't imagine that something like this could happen.

"Zoom in, find him." Ritsuko spoke as she stood beside Misato, both women were looking at the carnage.

"How can a single person do such a thing? Even we with the Wunder can't do it." Ritsuko spoke as she looked off the bridge, seeing the mighty Wunder flying over the bodies of hundreds of Mark 6s, some were without heads, some without upper limbs, some broken in half.

Misato sighed as he lowered his head, remembering the words spoken by the person in charge and the words of the mysterious person who appeared in his dreams showing him things. "This is our fault."

Ritsuko turned around and faced her old friend with controlled shock. "How can this be our fault?"

Misato turned her head and faced Ritsuko with a cold, fierce stare, she knew they had made a mistake. "We have created a monster. Damn WILLE!"

- I just hope it's not too late to help him. - Misato thought as she lowered her gaze and closed his eyes to control the emotions that were threatening to come out.

"We have vision of the Evangelion Unit." Tama spoke as he zoomed in on the image of the bridge, revealing the now decommissioned unit.

Misato's eyes burned at the sight of that piece of metal, with his armor heavily damaged from his invasion, shaking his head so he could concentrate, Misato spoke determinedly.

"Get an assault team ready, we're going into NERV."

Everyone on the bridge turned to look at their commander. "Ma'am?" Shigeru asked cautiously.

"Did I stutter Lieutenant?" Misato retorted as she faced her former NERV colleague fiercely, her gaze caused Shigeru to swallow dry, Misato was speaking with a level and calm voice, further increasing his menacing posture.

"No ma'am." Shigeru soon turned to start ordering an assault team as per the orders received, no one dared to contradict Misato at this time, they knew the moment was delicate.

"Do you think you can convince him?" Ritsuko asked trying her best to stay calm, she didn't want to get in Misato's line of fire.

"I hope so, he's not like that." Misato replied without looking at the fake blonde. "He's not a monster."

On the Wunder hull, Evangelion Unit 2 and Unit 8 were looking out over the landscape, Asuka had a downcast look on her face, she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Princess, are we late?" Mari asked with dejection in her voice, she didn't expect this to happen, Shinji was not a violent person.

Asuka gave a sigh into the intake plug, seeing bubbles of air coming out of her mouth the redhead spoke dejectedly. "I don't know Four-Eyes."

- Please don't do this. - Asuka thought darkly as she zoomed her vision to the cause, seeing an Evangelion Unit standing on the horizon in the disabled position, its input plug exposed revealing that its pilot was already inside NERV.

Misato was with the raiding party, feeling her body anxious, again the dream came into her mind, she didn't want to waste time, for if the memory was right, she wouldn't have much time to spare.

"All set." Shouted the sergeant as he organized his troops.

Misato raised her head and spoke strongly determined and professional. "Let's go!"

Taking off and leaving the Wunder, Misato can only pray, having done everything in her power to speed up the match, and cannot afford to lose any seconds in this race.

"Please Shinji." Misato whispered as she closed her eyes, she could feel the ship swaying with the strong wind from the rain falling outside, but her worries were elsewhere.

(*)

Landing a few meters away from Unit 01, Misato heard her men vomiting with the strong odor of blood and guts that Shinji's battle against the Mark 06 had resulted in, but that wasn't strong enough to stop Misato.

Looking at her men still regrouping, Misato spoke strongly. "Let's go!"

The Sergeant only stared at Misato with confused eyes, he had not yet passed any information to his men, he was completely unprepared. "But ma'am, we're not prepared yet, we don't know what we can expect in there, it could have thousands of sympathizers."

Misato stopped her pacing and turned around, her eyes locked on those of the sergeant, looking deep into her soul. "Let's go now sergeant!"

The poor sergeant only watched as Misato turned her way back into NERV, with a weak and final nod, he only shouted to his men. "Come on guys, prepare for the worst."

With that said, everyone entered the old NERV base, with their weapons properly prepared.

Misato was walking with accelerated steps, she wanted to find Shinji as quickly as possible, not wanting to waste time, the purple haired woman only hoped that everything was as in the dream, that Shinji somehow had already "cleared" the way. "Wait Shinji."

As the group advanced, everyone looked on with wide eyes as bodies of sympathizers lay lifeless on the ground, everyone could see that all the shots were accurate and precise.

Seeing Misato standing there looking at a body, but that was not her focus, but at the small pool of blood beside it, she remembered that Shinji had been wounded in the abdomen, frowning as she remembered, Misato ordered in a strong voice.

"Come on! Faster!"

"Ma'am?" Spoke the sergeant apprehensively. "But it's dangerous, we can't risk it."

"We have to catch Shinji Ikari before he does something stupid." Misato spoke professionally as she almost started running, her mind whirling in anxiety as she saw more bodies, she just wished none of them were Shinji's.

(*)

Shinji was running as fast as she could, she could make out the form of Gendo further ahead of her, but the wounds were already beginning to take their toll.

Gendo Ikari, once the most powerful man in the world, the man who had all the resources to do whatever activities he wanted to do to his liking, the man who ran an organization that fought colossal monsters using biomechanical machines.

Walking with accelerated steps, the man was gasping heavily due to his age and sedentary way of life, but this time this was not the case, feeling the effort with every step he took, he felt the wound on his leg screaming in pain as he supported his weight.

"Gendo!" Shinji shouted through the halls of the old NERV headquarters, Gendo felt his blood freeze, hearing his son shouting like that and at the intensity he was doing, made the man once the most powerful man in the world feel fear, something he hadn't experienced in a long time.

"Open damn door!" Gendo growled as he swiped his access card, seeing the door emit a small beep and a green light signaling that it was now open, he immediately treated himself to entering.

Limping to his old desk, Gendo was searching for something to defend himself with, frantically looking for anything he could use against the invader, feeling the adrenaline rush invade his blood vessels, the man didn't like it when he wasn't in control of things around him.

"What the fuck, where's my weapon?!" Gendo growled as he opened and closed the drawers of his old desk in search of his defense, but the only objects he could find were sheets of paper, closing the drawer tightly and feeling his hands shaking with his possible fate.

Her train of thought was broken by a loud thud coming from the door, taking her gaze to the metal door that was now separating her from her opponent, hearing another thud and then another.

Shinji finally reached the old office, thirsty with rage and betrayal, he only stared at the heavy metal door with hungry eyes, with small steps back, Shinji began to deliver powerful kicks in the hope of bringing down what was preventing him from completing his goals.

"You will not escape today!" Shinji shouted with his voice full of anger, even the heavy metal doors were not able to silence the invader who was promptly kicking his barrier.

(*)

Gendo didn't take his eyes off the door, he swallowed dryly when the sounds stopped, his eyes were fixed on the metal door that was saving his life right now.

Feeling the ground shake, Gendo turned around and could get a glimpse of the mighty Wunder in the background of Tokyo 3, the day was rainy and overcast, making the scenery around the mighty WILLE war machine make it more intimidating.

Gendo again looked at the door that was silent for a few minutes, he knew that his invader would not give up because of a door, the minutes seemed like hours to the man who had once dreamed of becoming a God.

(*)

Shinji stopped his advances when he saw that he couldn't open the door with his legs, thinking desperately to see how he would get in, he remembered that he had gotten some grenades from one of the sympathizers.

Securing the explosives to the door, he was smiling as he hoped it would be enough to break down the small barrier that was preventing him from meeting the man who had ruined his life.

"You'll get out of there old man! Yes, you will! You won't get away today!

(*)

Misato walked as fast as she could, but one thing was enough to stop her path, hearing small moans coming from in front of her, then she and her soldiers slowed their steps and became cautious.

Fuyutsuki was sitting on the ground, trying to control the pain his injuries were causing his body, but soon he realized that his face was illuminated by a flashlight.

With a sarcastic snort, the NERV subcommander smiled. "Look, if it isn't the proud Colonel Katsuragi."

Misato felt her blood boiling at the sight in front of her, but one doubt prevailed, why hadn't Shinji killed him?

"I meant the same."

Misato gestured for her men to quickly arrest him. "How are you still alive? Shinji is killing everyone in his path, why did he leave you alive?" Misato asked strongly, she could feel her soldiers' eyes widen at the news that Shinji was killing everyone.

Many soldiers smiled to hear that Shinji was once again trying to end the war his way, but one thing made them apprehensive, has he just not gone mad for good?

"He left me alive as a thank you." Kozo spoke as he grimaced as he felt the pain in his legs, watching the WILLE men making small bandages.

"Thank you?" Misato asked slightly shocked, but she was in a hurry, not having time to chat, "We'll have plenty of time to chat at the old Wunder."

Misato left her men taking care of Fuyutsuki ordering him to be taken alive to Wunder and the rest went with her in the search for Shinji.

Running again, Misato only had Shinji on her mind, she was feeling that time was running out, but a sound made her blood freeze, the sound that showed that time was extremely short.

An exploding sound echoed through the halls, Misato's eyes widened as he remembered that he had no time. "Come on! Faster!" Speaking in a hurry, Misato didn't bother to start running, somehow she already knew the way.

(*)

The silence of the room was replaced by a loud explosion that tore the metal door from its place, leaving only a large cloud of dust.

Swallowing hard as Shinji's silhouette stopped at the door, knowing that no words of his would be able to stop him, seeing his heavy breathing and broad shoulders starting to walk into the room, in one of his hands was a 9mm Beretta and the other was holding his wounded abdomen, but that didn't seem to get in the way.

"So here we are old man." Shinji spoke as he slowly approached, his wounds didn't seem to be hindering his judgment, he just wanted to get revenge and end it all.

"Listen, let's talk." Gendo tried to start talking, only his glasses were causing the man to show no fear.

"Cut that old talk!" Shinji spoke strongly, finally emerging from the cloud of dust and raising his gun now pointing it at Gendo's face. "Didn't I warn you that your turn was coming? . "

"But..." Gendo began to speak, fear could be felt in his voice, but he was soon cut off with a gunshot, the same one passing inches from his head, precisely intended to make him stop talking.

"You have nothing to talk about." Shinji spoke menacingly. "The only thing that will come out of your mouth will be the flies from your rotting body."

Gendo was now looking at the face of the person who was swearing to kill him, unable to believe that this person could take such an attitude, raising his hands to signal that he was not a threat.

In his years where he prided himself on being able to predict everyone's behavior, Gendo could not believe that his son had changed so much, he could never predict that he could do something of this magnitude, he knew he would die.

"Please, just listen to me." Gendo began to feel that his time was beginning to run out.

"It's no use!" Shinji shouted as he maintained his posture, not wavering for anything, looking out briefly, he saw Wunder now approaching quickly, knowing he would not have much time to complete his plan, which he christened himself as plan E.

At this distance, he could see Unit 02 and Unit 08 on Wunder's hull, soon memories of his pilots came into his mind, feeling a twinge of hesitation begin to arise with the new experiences and feelings that came with his stay on Wunder.

Shaking your head to get back to your goal. - Focus, this is no time to turn back. - Shinji thought as he returned to his posture, walking until he felt the barrel of the gun touching Gendo's head, Shinji only spoke coldly as he faced him in the eyes.

Gendo's eyes widened as he felt the barrel of the gun on his head, feeling the cold sweat pouring down his forehead and his insides melting, the man now could only wait for the end, when the person pulled the trigger everything he had worked for would be over.

"Time to say goodbye." Shinji spoke as he engaged a round in his gun, looking at the man in front of him coldly, without a shred of remorse for the activity he was about to do.

"See you in hell, Dad."

Ready to pull the trigger, Shinji was ready to kill his father, nothing was going to change that, but the sound of footsteps distracted him momentarily, but it was a voice that made him stop.

"Don't do it Shinji!" Misato shouted as she entered the room, she could see Shinji standing there with his gun heavily pointed at Gendo's head, her men promptly moved into position, still not knowing why they were preventing the death of their greatest enemy, but they just followed their training.

Shinji looked at Misato with glazed eyes, turning Gendo to be his shield, he only spoke as he had the gun pointed at the man's head. "I'm not going back there!"

"Let's talk!" Misato was almost panicking, she knew what would happen if Shinji killed her father, "He's not worth it."

"Yeah it's no good, but I'm going to end it now!" Shinji shouted, he could feel the weight of despair in his body. "I can end it Misato."

"It won't be like that." Misato spoke as she lowered her gun and showed that she was no threat to Shinji.

"There's no getting away from that!" Shinji growled as he felt his eyes burning. "That's all I can do."

"Shinji, listen to me please." Misato spoke trying to remain calm. "We already know truth, we will help you."

"Help me?!" Shinji retorted in a strong voice. "WILLE is going to lock me up again! I'm not going back there!"

"Let me help you!" Misato retorted anxiously. "Let me and Kaji try please!"

"You have no way to help me." Shinji spoke as he became downcast, he kept the gun pressed hard to the back of Gendo's head. "There's no way. I will always be seen as a monster." Feeling a pang of anger inside him, Shinji lightly butted Gendo in the head. "All because of that shit!"

"You are not a monster." Misato yelled as she felt her eyes burning, she didn't like Shinji seeing himself like this, even more so after finding out the truth. "Look what you've conquered! The crew now trusts you with their lives! You are a hero to them!"

Shinji lowered his gaze as he felt the weight of the words, he could see that some soldiers nodded, giving strength to Misato's arguments.

"And you're okay with Asuka again!" Misato remembered that they had both become very close back in the day. "Are you going to do that to her? You know how she would be with your loss!"

"Asuka." Shinji spoke as he remembered everything, the first kiss he gave her, the moments they both made love for the first time, the feelings involved, the moments they both slept, whenever she is by his side, nothing bad seemed to happen.

Misato realized that she had gotten something, she saw Shinji's gaze waver, his hand shaking as he felt the weight of doubt. "Are you going to break your promise? That you would never abandon her?"

Shinji felt a tear running down his face, he felt the weight, seeing the image of Asuka in his mind crying in front of him, how he hated to see her cry, soon his hand was slowly falling away.

Misato let out a long sigh as she saw Shinji lowering his gun, approaching slowly, Misato didn't take her eyes off Shinji, ignoring Gendo completely.

Shinji finally released his weapon, watching as it hit the ground with a light thud, soon he walked backwards until his back hit a glass wall. "I failed."

Misato walked past Gendo who remained motionless, her mens quickly pinned him down, knowing that Shinji was no threat to them.

Bending down until she was at Shinji's eye level, Misato quickly reached for the gun, but she heard Shinji whispering.

"I failed." Shinji spoke again, still looking at the ground in front of him, tears streaming down his face. "I have failed."

Misato was still feeling agitated, but she felt relieved that she has prevented a greater tragedy, putting her hand on his shoulder and speaking calmly, Misato was making a great effort not to cry with the pressure.

Looking at Shinji's face, she wiped away one of the tears running down her face, pulling Shinji gently into a tight hug, she closed her eyes and stroked his back giving Shinji some affection at a time like this.

Shinji only closed his eyes as he felt the hug that Misato was giving him, feeling the warmth of her body helped him, but it didn't lessen his pain, he knew that WILLE wanted him trapped, it still haunted him, but now all he wanted was to be able to feel the warmth and calm that Misato's embrace was giving him, it was as if the shitty world they lived in didn't exist. "I failed Misato, he won."

Misato felt Shinji returning the hug, she just whispered in his ear, keeping calm at all times, whispering words like a mother would speak at times like this.

"No Shinji, you did not fail. You defeated him."
