Plan E - English Version Chapter 26 - The End Part 01, an evangelion fanfic

Hi guys, Calborghete here, how are you all? I hope everyone is doing well.

We are entering the final phase of Plan E, I hope you all enjoy this chapter, it was really hard to write, I hope it turned out good and satisfying, I enjoyed it and I hope you all enjoy it.

Did you notice that the chapter title changed, everything was supposed to end in this one, but I realized that it would get too long and tiring and so I decided to change things a little, dividing it in two parts, now the title is "Final part 01 and the next one will be Final part 02", you've won another chapter .

Chapter 26 - The End Part 01.

Setting the radio down on his desk, Misato closed her eyes still feeling the adrenaline rush of having seen certain death, she took a deep breath to calm himself.

Shinji did the same, letting the oxygen recharge his tired body, but soon everyone's calm was broken, loud alarms flashed on Wunder's main screen.

"What's that?!" Misato ordered professionally as she approached.

"Evangelion activation." Hyuga spoke as he widened his eyes, not understanding the readings in front of him. "I ... I don't know what's going on."

Misato only widened her eyes when she saw the main screen, on the screen showing only a message in bright red.

"Evangelion activation detected, number of Units: 01"

"Evangelion activation detected, number of Units: 52"

"Evangelion activation detected, number of Units: 153"

"Evangelion activation detected, number of Units: 358"

"Evangelion activation detected, number of Units: 852"

Turning and facing Shinji with a look of fear, the alarms kept going off and the numbers kept going up.

"Oh my God." Misato spoke as she faced the new fight that was about to take place, bringing her hand to the metal cross on her chest, she could only pray.

"What's going on?" Hyuga asked shocked as he looked at the display in front of him showing the enemy EVAS numbers.

Misato was looking at the alerts that were firing in front of her, feeling her hands shaking as she saw the amount of enemy units appearing in front of her, she could hear all her bridge personnel acting to understand what was happening right now.

Still feeling the adrenaline of the battle against the invading forces inside her ship, Misato was making a great effort to stay focused on her goal, closing her eyes to control her anxiety.

Taking a deep breath, Misato felt the oxygen feeding her body, feeling how she was working a miracle by managing to give her calm at a time like this, opening her eyes slowly, Misato traveled with her eyes to everyone around her.

"Ritsuko!" Misato spoke strongly as she turned to her friend.

Ritsuko was looking at her information console, the Wunder crew was managing to deal with the rest of the remaining JSSDF units inside the ship, feeling the sweat dripping down her forehead with the pressure.

Typing at an impressive pace, her commands were dealing with all the information that flooded her eyes, everyone still didn't know how she could handle it all.

Misato noticed the sub-commander focused on her own world, with a sigh, Misato stepped closer and spoke strongly. "Ritsuko!"

"What?!" Ritsuko retorted anxiously as she heard her name being called, her eyes were focused on her screen, watching as the numbers of enemies kept rising around her. "That's not possible! That's not possible!"

"Not possible what?" Misato asked as she moved even closer, locking her eyes on Ritsuko's panel, seeing how she had a plethora of data passing in front of her, not knowing what each thing was.

Shinji cautiously approached the panel in question, he wished he could tell what was approaching, feeling the anxiety of seeing so many enemies.

"Those units ... Are the gaps of infinity!" Ritsuko uttered those words in an extremely anxious voice, still not knowing how they were being activated, as they never demonstrated activity, to the sensors, they were only dead EVAS.

"Failures of infinity?" Shinji drew closer as he heard these words, his mind wondering where he had heard this before.

Frowning as he remembered, it was moments before the fight in central dogma, when he piloted alongside Kaworu the unit 13, feeling the weight of these memories, Shinji closed his eyes to control himself, Kaworu's death was one thing that would always eat away at his soul.

Knowing that no words of comfort would be enough to clear this weight he felt, knowing that he had caused the death of a close person was too much, something unforgivable in his eyes.

He could still hear the sound of the choker exploding, the sound of his friend's blood splattering beside him, the horror show that was witnessing his death, no matter if they had met again, that Kaworu spoke that it was not his fault, that he had chosen his fate.

Deep down Shinji knew he should have done more for his friend, should have fought for him to never put on the damn choker, but he was weak back then, he was a person who was more focused on his world of self-destruction than doing anything actually considered useful.

Shaking his head to clear that memory, Shinji spoke as he approached the back of Misato who was still waiting for an explanation. "Failures of infinity."

Misato heard Shinji's faint voice, turning her head back, she only asked confusedly, "What is it Shinji?"

Shinji lowered his gaze, his eyes locked on Captain Takashi's body, watching as his brains splattered on the floor, still fresh blood was there, the aroma of iron mingled in the air.

With his eyes locked on the gun in his right hand, Shinji made his comparisons, again his hand was used to hurt people, not that he regretted fighting to save the Wunder crew or Misato's life, but killing was killing.

Soon his eyes fell on Misato, seeing how she was waiting patiently for his answer, knowing that at some point he had to speak, because this was no time to make a fuss, everything had to be done and that time was now.

He still felt the shame of having almost made an impact, and remembering this didn't help, Shinji knew that he shouldn't be afraid to talk about it, that Misato had apologized, she had forgiven him about it, but a small part of his head was afraid that talking about it would stir up some kind of old hatred towards him, but as he had thought before, now was no time for frills.

"When I ... When I was flying unit 13." Shinji spoke as he lowered his gaze to the ground, it really was better to look at a person's body than to see Misato's gaze now, his hand was opening and closing showing his anxiety.

Misato listened to his sentence, she could see that this was still a very delicate subject for Shinji, it really wasn't his best moment, but she had already forgiven him for that, but the shame could be felt in Shinji's voice, her eyes soon fell on his hand, seeing how he opened and closed it in a sign of fear and anxiety.

Shinji gave a sour smile, he knew his fear was irrational and childish, but he had to keep feeling his hand moving almost as if on automatic, Shinji took a deep breath and began to speak.

"When I was flying unit 13." Shinji spoke anxiously as he stared at the ground, "I was looking at the walls that were leading me to the central dogma, it had these things."

Ritsuko stopped her analysis and looked at Shinji, her scientist side activated. "That?" He concluded as he pointed at his screen.

Shinji only nodded, he was searching for Kaworu's words about what these things would be. "Kaworu ..." Shinji stopped as he closed his eyes.

Misato felt sorry for Shinji at this moment, remembering talking to the angel in her dream, she knew that Shinji must have become very attached to him, Misato didn't blame Shinji for this, Kaworu was a person who could calm anyone down, show that nothing was ever the end of hope.

Remembering that Kaworu had explained that his death was caused by the explosion of the choker and that Shinji had seen everything, his skin felt one of the coldest of chills, it can't have been easy to live with such a memory.

Shinji took a breath to recover, he had to push himself to continue. "Kaworu told me about these failures of infinity." Lifting his head and speaking with the determination left in his body. "He told me that they were inactive, that it was not a danger, that if I left them alone, nothing bad would happen."

Ritsuko frowned as she heard this, her analytical mind searching for any information that might be useful at such a moment. "What do you mean, he talked?"

"No, when I asked what they were, Kaworu only told me that it was the result of a bad impact, that people became that." Shinji spoke with anxiety for saying those words, talking about the third impact was something still too delicate in his head, he knew he was not to blame, but the anxiety for talking about it was still great.

"The people." Misato whispered as she turned to Ritsuko, looking for any information that might help.

Ritsuko gave a long sigh as she thought about it, no one had yet been able to understand what had really happened to the population of Japan after the third impact happened, many people had simply disappeared into primordial soup.

"From what I understand, the people who suffered the direct effects of the third impact." Ritsuko spoke as she felt an urge to smoke, with one hand wiping her forehead and the other simply standing by her side. "Somehow they are being transformed into this?"

Misato's eyes widened at the knowledge, it had been millions of people who had suffered, how could Wunder deal with so many enemies like that? Really only a miracle could save the world, speaking in a controlled voice, Misato searched for any trace of strength to keep from exploding.

"How can we defeat these things?"

"We'll have to kill as many as you can." Shinji spoke as he turned somber, feeling everyone's eyes on him. "We won't have it any other way."

"Wunder has at least how much longer until Tokyo 3?" Misato asked his crew, his voice showing that unnecessary questions were not to be asked.

"Approximately ten minutes." Koji spoke as he turned around and gave the information Misato wanted, he could still feel his body trembling at what was happening.

"Ten minutes." Misato whispered to herself as she knew she had very little time to act, locking her eyes on Shinji who was waiting for her orders.

"How's the situation with JSSDF!"? Misato asked sharply, her eyes still not leaving Shinji.

"We have reports of little fighting, it seems that after the death of the captain, the troops with common sense are surrendering, but small fighting is still happening in smaller sectors." Hyuga spoke as he accessed the security cameras and listened to the radio transmissions.

"Shinji, go to unit 01!" Misato spoke sharply as she pointed her finger at Shinji, she knew that Asuka and Mari were going to need a lot of help in the battle.

Shinji only nodded, turning and heading for the exit, but soon he heard Misato's call, speaking in the softest voice she could, she was speaking exactly as she did in the NERV days.

"And Shinji?"

Shinji turned and faced Misato, seeing how his gaze softened, he just waited for the answer.

Looking Shinji in the eye, Misato spoke with a small smile. "Be very careful out there and ... And take care of them too."

Shinji gave a small smile, his mouth opened and he spoke in a calm, sympathetic voice. "Don't worry about Asuka and Mari, it's easier for them to have you than to protect me."

Misato only saw Shinji leaving with quickened steps, her eyes locked tightly on her back, a thought came into her head as she saw him disappearing through the door.

- They are good, but you were always the best of them. - Misato thought dejectedly as she knew that the battle would be strong, that this might be the last time she would talk to Shinji or Asuka and Mari, she didn't want anything bad to happen to her family.

Shaking her head to clear the thought of losing the dearest people in her life, Misato knew that she had a battle to command, that she had many lives in her hands, including those of Shinji, Asuka and Mari.

Shinji was walking with accelerated steps, he was heading towards the EVAS cages, he was ready to go to fight alongside Asuka and Mari, around him Wunder crewmen were removing the bodies of the people who had died.

Looking with regret at the victims of the battle they had just moments before, he just wanted this war to end, that no one else could lose their lives or get hurt, as he wanted everything related to EVA to end, his greatest dream would be to be able to say.

Detention Center - Wunder.

Gendo was sitting in his firm pose, his hands planted rigidly on his thighs, his eyes fixed firmly on the outer wall in front of his cell.

Feeling the sweat dripping down his face, Gendo knew that his control over his body was ending, that soon the effects of the key to the unification of souls on Lilith would overwhelm him, he was only a cocoon.

Bringing his hand to his chest, Gendo could feel the pain of the spot where he inserted the key that would give him the power to start his scenario, the moment when he would begin to merge with the host, becoming the key to everything in this world.

Feeling his body contracting, Gendo soon began to groan in pain as he felt something inside him moving, gasping slightly as he knelt on the floor, the sound of flesh moving could be heard throughout the cell.

Falling to the ground, Gendo had to hold on, he would have to endure the ordeal, he had to keep control over his body long enough to be able to merge and be able to bring Yui back.

A sharp pain raged through Gendo's body, he let out a small, restrained cry as he felt his hand burning, he looked down at it, his eyes widened as he saw his muscles moving, something was in his hand.

His eyes wouldn't leave his palm, the pain was unbearable for him, but he couldn't stop, he had to keep focus, he had to keep control, seconds seemed like minutes and minutes seemed like hours to Gendo as his body was ravaged by changes.

After a few seconds of excruciating pain, Gendo looked again at his hand, how it had changed, his palm now had a kind of eye, the body was protruding from the other side, something like a shrimp was on his skin.

Closing his eyes as he felt the power coursing through his veins, Gendo gave a slight smile knowing that now nothing could stand in his way, he was becoming a God.

He felt his strength returning, Gendo slowly stood up, his eyes never leaving the eye that was in his hands, voices and footsteps began to echo through the sector.

Gendo raised his eyes when he heard he had company, with an arrogant smile, he just waited, nothing could kill him now, with the power of an angel inside a human body.

Feeling the tightness of the choker, Gendo gave a small laugh as he felt it. "I'm like a god now, nothing can stop me."

Gendo just raised his hand to the bars, he could feel the power wanting to come out, he could imagine, with a simple breath, Gendo felt the angelic power, a simple AT field was designed, nothing too big, but it was enough to open the bars.

Guards were running down the corridors, the sound of the cell being ripped from the walls caught their attention, running with weapons in their hands, their eyes went wide as they saw the orange light of the AT field pushing through the bars.

Gendo smiled as he saw that he could now be free, watching as the choker made a small sound as it activated, red crystals spun rapidly doing the function it was supposed to do.

Laughing sarcastically when he saw that this would not be enough to kill him, Gendo just waited, the power of the angel inside his body was managing to take control.

Spinning faster and faster, the crystals closed with a white light followed by a small explosion, a small AT field separated the explosion from Gendo's head, strong enough to contain the explosion that would kill him.

Wunder soldiers only heard the small explosion coming from the cell, their eyes going wide as Gendo simply walked out of the smoke. "Freeze!"

Gendo held his pose, his face showing no emotion, his hands strongly still at the side of his body.

"Freeze!" Shouted the Wunder soldier as he pointed his weapons at Gendo, seeing how he did not move and stood arrogantly still in front of him. "Insolent worm!"

Gendo only raises his hand as the soldiers start shooting at him, an AT field appears, protecting him from the projectiles, and an arrogant smile forms on his lips.

Pushing the field forward, Gendo watched as the soldiers were thrown into the walls at the back, watching as they all hit her with a great thud as they all went to the ground.

"Pathetic." Gendo spoke as he passed the soldiers, he would now have to find his next prey, he would have to find Rei, she could give him what he wanted.

Closing his eyes, Gendo focused on her presence, feeling the angelic part of the clone of his beloved wife, Gendo could feel Lilith's presence in her, already knowing where to go.

Concentrating on Rei, Gendo closed his eyes as he thought of the words that would lead to his goal, years of brainwashing just waiting for this moment.

"Rei ... The time has come."

Infirmary - Wunder.

The place was in chaos, many wounded were being treated in a hurry, Sakura was working as fast as she could already feeling the weight of the fatigue flooding her body, beside her was Rei helping her with what she could.

"I need more gauze!" Sakura spoke hurriedly as she pressed a wound from her patient, Rei hurriedly handed it over, her intense red eyes looked at Sakura's hands working on the injured person, sensing Sakura's determination to save that person's life.

Rei looked at Sakura's hands, soon her eyes fell on her own, she wished she could know what it would be like to save a life, a small smile came on her face, she wanted to be like Sakura.

"Rei ... The time has come."

As if by magic, Rei lowered her arms, her face returned to the neutral, dull look she had before, she became a doll again, stopping what she was doing, Rei simply turned around and started walking out of the infirmary.

Sakura was working hard, but she can't help but notice Rei slowly withdrawing from the infirmary. "Rei!" Sakura called out many times, her help was being very helpful, not understanding why she was withdrawing like this, something very strange was happening, but Sakura didn't have time to deal with it now.

Sakura's calls were simply ignored, Rei was in an empty and monotonous world, no thought was in her head, she was walking towards the call.

Rei's mind was silent, her soft steps through the metal corridors of Wunder were silent, her intense red eyes focused on the path ahead of her.

With her mind clouded, Rei only had a single thing on her mind, Gendo's scenario, the orders she received to be ready when the moment comes, nothing else was going on in her head.

Everyone cast shocked glances at seeing Rei walking past them as if they weren't there, it was as if she was in another world, but few stopped to wonder, everyone had their jobs to do, some were taking prisoners, others carrying wounded to the infirmary, and some were tallying up casualties, both from WILLE and the JSSDF invaders.

Rei didn't know how long she walked, how far she walked, but she could only believe what her eyes could see, her eyes could only see the color purple, seeing every detail of the dormant giant.

Going through the details by what his armor had, his large white eyes as they focused on his physical form, his huge horn giving him a more demonic image, if his color was red or black, the psychological impact it would give would be irreversible.

Standing staring at the huge face in front of her, Rei completely ignored the pieces of soldier around her, the pieces of the poor men who suffered the consequences of being in the same place where the purple beast's fury was unleashed.

Rei was standing like a statue, her eyes never leaving EVE 01, her intense red eyes locked on EVE's giant white eyes, both were facing each other in a fierce battle, but no sound or intent could be felt.

Footsteps echoed through the corridors, but Rei ignored them completely, nothing was able to break the trance that had been activated in his mind, years of pure brainwashing were preventing any external stimulation.

Entering the cages, Gendo could see Rei looking at EVA 01, smiling slightly as she saw that everything was going as planned, her heavy footsteps could finally be heard by Rei, but she again did not move.

"Rei." Gendo called out, his face maintaining a neutral, emotionless expression, only his robes showed that something had changed.

"Yes, Commander Ikari?" Rei replied as he turned and faced Gendo, being completely in another world at this moment.

Gendo looked quickly at Unit 01, his eyes watching the unit that his beloved wife gave her own life to build.

- Yui ... Let's see each other again. - Gendo thought with determination as he saw the eyes of the purple EVA standing still watching everything.

Again locking his eyes on Rei, Gendo spoke in his cold, controlled voice. "It is time."

Rei only nodded as she approached, but her mind was flooded with thoughts, somehow she was managing to remember.

"You damned doll!" Asuka's voice echoed through her head.

Blinking to clear these thoughts, Rei again moved closer to Gendo, her eyes were lifeless, she really was a doll right now.

Shinji was running, he wanted to get as fast as possible to the cage where his EVA would be, he knew it was only a matter of time before the enemy units attacked Wunder, and only Asuka and Mari were outside.

"I can't fail now." Shinji whispered as he quickened his pace, only dodging the working Wunder crewmen, some people stared at him with confused looks at the color of his clothing, Shinji was still dressed in his plain uniform, but that would not be their priority at the moment.

Finally arriving in the control room, Shinji was confused to see that there was no one there, but as he looked outside, his eyes widened as he saw a person, growling as he recognized who it was.

Walking with heavy steps, Shinji was ready to jump up and rip Gendo's head off, but one thing caught his attention, a ball of blue hair stopped him from going any further, a wave of fear took over his body. "No ... Rei."

Opening the door that gave access, Shinji looked around at the battle marks, seeing how he had parts of crushed people floating in the LCL pool, but he had other priorities.

Raising the gun to his father, Shinji saw when he didn't even care about it, a great contrast to what was experienced some time before in NERV. "Stay away from her!"

Gendo raised his gaze to Shinji, a wave of disgust invaded his stomach, seeing his son's face, seeing how he inherited Yui's features, even this Shinji had stolen from him, a small growl came out of his mouth.

"Kid."

"I said get away from her!" Shinji spoke with a strong voice as he pointed the gun again at his father, he was not going to allow him to use Rei for his plans, he was not going to allow more of his family members to die so that he could succeed.

"Or what?" Gendo spoke arrogantly, smiling slightly as he stood midway between Rei, he could see the hatred in his son's eyes. "You think you scare me?"

"Don't test me old man!" Shinji spoke again as he saw his father challenging him, his gun still pointed at his face.

"Are you going to kill me?" Gendo spoke debauchedly, raising his hand and giving a signal for Shinji to proceed. "I'm waiting."

Shinji felt his hand shake with anger and annoyance, he didn't know why he was hesitating, a few days ago, he was ready to put an end to his father's life, but now he was different.

- Don't become the monster your father wants. - Shinji closed his eyes as he heard Misato's voice in his head, he knew she was right, he couldn't kill his father now.

Gendo smiled as he saw Shinji lower his gun slightly, but his gaze was still fierce. "I always knew I was weak. Nothing but a piece of nothing! Your only function is to help me bring Yui back, nothing more."

Shinji blinked as he heard those words, even though he hated his father, hearing it hurt, Gendo smiled as he saw his son's discomfort, knowing it was having the desired effect. "Did you think we were ever going to be a family? No, I never loved you, I never wanted you! When Yui got pregnant, the only feeling I felt was disgust! I still don't know what she saw in a thing like you!"

Shinji felt his breathing quicken slightly as he listened to his father's words, he was making a great effort to keep himself steady, controlling his emotions was being difficult.

Rei blinked as she heard Gendo humiliating Shinji, her mind still struggling to regain control of her body, again flashes of memory screamed in her head, recalling the happiest times she had ever lived.

How Shinji cared about her well-being, how he prepared her lunch in the most perfect way, all so he could please her, how he was always willing to make her happy, even though he had no obligation whatsoever.

"Ikari-Kun." Rei whispered as she had a strong wave of feelings flooding her body. Rei remembered hearing about Shinji seeing her as his only blood family, the only person to acknowledge her presence, the first person to recognize that she had feelings.

Gendo looked at Rei quickly, he could see that she was struggling with her programming, her breathing changed a little as she saw she was running out of time.

Rei blinked between moments of memory flashes, she could feel all the feelings the other had felt, turning her head and looking at the huge head of EVA 01 staring at her with slightly red eyes, Rei felt a strong desire to bond, to get closer, a connection had already been made.

Misato was receiving several reports inside Wunder, her ship was in chaos, but slowly she was regaining control, standing looking at her crew working, Misato kept her traditional pose, standing with her arms crossed over her chest.

Her mind was thinking about how she was going to manage to defeat the amount of enemies that had appeared in the vicinity of Tokyo 03, her train of thought was broken when a call from the EVAS echoed on the bridge.

"Misato!" Asuka spoke in an anxious voice, Misato blinked at the knowledge that she had not yet spoken to her about the situation at Wunder. "How are things?!"

Picking up her radio, Misato spoke in a firm, controlled voice. "We have the situation under control, soon unit 01 will be deployed."

"Unit 01?" Asuka replied doubtfully. "Don't tell me the wonder girl is going to pilot?!"

Misato sensed the venom in Asuka's voice, but soon decided to speak without mystery. "No Asuka, Shinji is on his way, soon he will be at your side."

"Shinji?" Asuka asked hurriedly and anxiously. "Is he okay?"

Misato smiled as she listened to Asuka worry about Shinji, he really had changed the fiery redhead, who knew the amazing Asuka Shikinami would be showing concern for someone, quickly clearing her mind, she had to upgrade her soldiers.

"Yes, he's fine." Misato replied with a smile that quickly turned into a grim look, she knew that the real battle was minutes away. "But we have a problem."

A hush reigned on the radio, Misato only took a deep breath as she began to explain. "We are receiving EVAS activation readings."

"How many?" Mari spoke for the first time as she entered the conversation.

"Around a thousand and three hundred." Misato spoke somberly. "The numbers just keep going up."

"Oh my God." Mari spoke as she swallowed dryly, Asuka went silent, they have never had to face such a large number before.

"All right." Asuka spoke confidently. "We're going to finish them off! Shinji will soon be here and we'll make it!"

Misato only nodded, she was again feeling the weight of her metal cross that was on her chest, she didn't know how, but it seemed like something was telling her to try. "Yes ... Ibuki is working on sending weapons and supplies, get ready."

Misato didn't wait for an answer, she just dropped the radio and leaned on the bridge, closing her eyes and thinking about her options, but a small scream beside her managed to break her concentration.

"What?!" Ritsuko spoke in shock as she listened to Sakura's account. "What do you mean she just left?!"

Misato upon hearing this, quickly approached. "What's going on?"

Ritsuko only spoke in a thoughtful voice. "Sakura spoke that Rei simply abandoned her post, that she looked like a zombie."

Misato rolled her eyes softly, turning around and speaking to her subordinates in a hurried voice. "Locate Ayanami!"

It didn't take much time, Hyuga only widened his eyes as he saw the image on the screen. "She's in the EVAS hangar, Shinji is facing..." Hyuga stopped as he recognized the person at the other end.

"Facing who?!" Misato asked as she looked at the monitor, feeling her eyes widen at the person. "No ... No! ... No!"

Everyone saw when Misato ran off the bridge, Ritsuko quickly exchanged glances with the others, wasting no time, the fake blonde followed her commander.

Hyuga knew that Gendo being near unit 01 was not a good thing, he could only pray that Misato could stop him, a thought came into his mind, picking up the radio and ordering with authority.

"We need guards to go immediately to the EVAS hangar, highly dangerous prisoner released."

Everyone on the bridge only stared at Hyuga giving the orders, Shigeru spied his colleague's monitor, he only let out a long sigh when he saw the image of Shinji pointing the gun at his father, "Shit."

Misato was running as fast as she could, she passed by her men ignoring them completely, it didn't take her long to find a faster path to the cages.

Her eyes widened as she saw Shinji and Gendo face to face again, drawing her pistol and quickly joining Shinji's side. "Ikari! Freeze! You will not touch this unit!"

Gendo stared at her with disdain, showing total indifference. "Katsuragi, I wanted to say that I enjoy your presence, but no."

"Who cares if you like me or not!" Misato growled at Gendo, her hand gripping her gun tightly, soon her eyes fell on Shinji. "I'm sorry Shinji."

"For what?" Shinji asked without removing his eyes from Gendo, his gun pointed slightly downward.

"For making you see that." Misato spoke as she aimed and fired her gun, her aim right in the middle of Gendo's head.

Gendo only gave a small laugh when he saw Misato shooting at him, an AT field appeared in front of him protecting him, everyone looked shocked at this.

"Rei come here!" Gendo spoke in his cold, emotionless voice.

Rei was shaking visibly, she didn't want to walk, but a strong desire was taking over her body, slowly she noticed her legs wanting to move.

"Rei! No!" Shinji spoke in a strong voice, but unlike his father, he did not carry indifference.

Misato just looked around not knowing what to do, she could see her hand trembling, part of it wanting to shoot Gendo, but something stopped her, she had seen that her gun didn't seem to be being useful at this time.

Rei was paralyzed in place, she was struggling mightily for control, soon her eyes fell on Gendo, the way he was standing there with complete disdain. Feeling Shinji's eyes on her back, she could feel Shinji's desire for her safety, that he did not see her as a tool.

"No." Rei spoke to Gendo, her voice was delicate.

"What?" Gendo spoke as he lost his posture slightly, losing his concentration.

At this moment more people arrived, Ritsuko was standing next to Maya at the entrance of the checkpoint, everyone was looking at the scene in front of her, Ritsuko was aiming at Gendo, she didn't want to shoot, but after Misato talked about Maya, her eyes never saw Gendo again like before.

"Rei, come now!" Gendo growled as he saw Rei turn and walk towards Shinji, he didn't know how she was managing to break the connection she had with him.

"Shinji." Rei spoke gently as she approached, Shinji reached out and slowly held Rei's hand. "I'm sorry."

"No problem Rei." Shinji spoke as he pulled Rei to safety behind him, his eyes never leaving his father.

"Rei, come back now!" Gendo spoke as he concentrated more, he knew she could hear his call, Rei could not go against what was created and in a moment of carelessness, Gendo shouted in anger. "Rei!"

Everyone only heard a shot echoing through the hangar, Gendo tried to raise his defense, but it wasn't fast enough, the single shot went through his defenses, feeling when the projectile hit his glasses, Gendo groaned as he felt the flesh of his face being pierced by the shot.

Misato looked back to see who had fired the shot, looking slightly wide-eyed as she saw Ritsuko's gun smoking slightly, her gaze was one of pure anger and betrayal.

Gendo knelt on the ground, blood was falling from his injured eye, everyone could see sparks from the damaged technology coming out of his glasses, he had only not died because of the angelic part now in his body.

With his one eye, Gendo looked at his former lover, feeling anger at the knowledge that she had shot him, but soon his eyes fell on Shinji, he could see the look of pain in her eyes.

"Damned brat." Gendo growled as he began to stand up, feeling the strongest of rages, and it was directed at Shinji, he was the one who began to cause his scenario to collapse, something he carefully designed.

Ready to attack, Gendo raised his hand toward Shinji, feeling the power in his body, he might die, but he would take everyone with him, thinking of his last resort, an order had already been given, now he had to kill Shinji.

Misato only widened her eyes when she saw something, a huge thud came, she saw when the huge hand of Unit 01 emerged from the LCL, Gendo only stared in horror as the hand closed around his body, trying to use his AT field to protect himself, but nothing was happening.

With his eyes locked on Rei, Gendo could see that she was somehow interfering, soon his good eye locked on Unit 01, he could see her eyes red in anger, knowing that the soul of his beloved wife was acting now.

"Yui." Gendo spoke as he saw Unit 01's huge mouth open, he knew the end was near, Gendo only spoke as he closed his eyes knowing he had let his beloved down. "Forgive me."

Closing her mouth and devouring his upper body, everyone looked on in horror as unit 01 killed Gendo, even though the bastard deserved to die, but this was too strong to watch.

Maya screamed in horror at the sight of a person being eaten by an EVA, Ritsuko quickly grabbed her by the shoulders and turned her around so she wouldn't see the scene. Shinji closed his eyes as he heard his father's flesh being chewed and the sound of his legs falling into the LCL, he didn't want to see the scene.

Misato watched the whole thing, feeling her stomach growl at the sight of what was left of Gendo, but she soon realized when Unit 01's input plug opened, her eyes soon focused on Shinji pulling himself together.

Placing her hand on his shoulder, Misato looked in horror at the mouth of the EVA with blood oozing out. "Where do you think you're going?" Misato asked fearfully, she didn't want Shinji inside that thing, even more so seeing when the huge hand was waiting to take Shinji to the catwalk that would give access.

Shinji saw the fear in her eyes, but he had no choice. "Misato, she won't hurt me."

"But..." Misato tried to procrastinate, quickly exchanging glances with the unit in front of her, she feared for Shinji's life, EVA 01 was proving to be very special and a wild animal.

"It's okay." Shinji spoke with a smile on his face as he started walking to his hand, Misato had a look of fear and anxiety on her face. "Trust me."

Seeing Shinji climbing on her hand, Misato followed with her eyes as Shinji went to the catwalk, again looking at Unit 01's face, she could see his eyes focused on her, but somehow she wasn't afraid.

Pointing her finger at EVA and speaking with force and authority, everyone stared at her for this attitude. "Listen to one thing! Don't you even dare hurt Shinji! I want him back!"

Misato simply turned around and started to leave, she could feel unit 01's eyes still on her, but as before, she was not afraid, walking up the stairs, Misato stopped when she saw Maya still trembling.

"Ibuki, pull yourself together! We have an EVA to launch!".

Shinji entered the entry plug, he could feel the anxiety in his body, closing his eyes to control himself, he could feel the trembling in his hands and his body was on the verge of exploding.

"Easy." Shinji whispered to himself as he sat up, bringing his arms to the support straps, feeling the cold metal in his palms, Shinji breathed in and out, feeling the oxygen feeding his body and helping him deal with the anxiety plaguing his body.

Feeling the input plug being put into place, the sound of the machines being activated, the roar of the plug going down into the EVA, Shinji's eyes were only closed, he was calming himself and clearing his mind for what he was about to face.

Feeling the connection beginning to activate, Shinji began to feel the familiar sensations, the chill that the LCL caused by being in contact with his EVA, but the main one of all, the feeling of his mother around him, smiling as she felt the warmth and affection she was providing.

"Hi mom." Shinji spoke as he felt the presence moving in. "It's good to be with you too."

Feeling a metallic taste in his mouth, Shinji quickly lost his posture a bit upon learning that this was probably what was left of his father, lowering his gaze to his lap upon learning that he had finally been stopped.

"I'll think about it later." Shinji spoke as he pushed the thought out of his head, thinking with determination. "I have to help Asuka and Mari, I can't fail."

"Well done Shinji." Maya spoke over the radio, her voice still shaky from what she had witnessed a few minutes ago.

Shinji only looked when the rainbow flooded his plug, soon the view of the hangar came alive and he could see everything, his eyes fell on the control room, he could see Maya and Ritsuko typing to send him out.

"We will deploy you near Mari and Asuka, be careful and keep your eyes open out there." Maya spoke as she stared into the face of EVA 01, Shinji could see the distrust in her eyes with the purple beast, he couldn't blame her, it really was scary.

"Right." Shinji replied professionally, holding his controls tightly and concentrating on not screwing up. "We'll manage."

"That's the spirit." Maya spoke with a nervous smile on her face, nodding as she knew that Shinji was probably looking into the control room.

Swallowing some LCL, Shinji noticed his EVA being moved to the designated location, realizing that all hell would break loose in a few minutes, he just wished he could apologize to Asuka, he knew he had hurt her feelings in that conversation, that was his determination, he couldn't fail, he had to apologize.

Laughing knowing that Asuka hated him to apologize, but now he really had to, watching as the outside light illuminated the armor of his EVA, in the background he could see Mari and Asuka's EVAS standing near the cannons.

Locking his eyes on the horizon, Shinji could see how the old Geofront was beginning to come into view, it was still small, but that only meant they were closer and every meter they walked was another meter closer to the battle.

Running up to reach his partners, Shinji spoke as he opened communication with them. "Hello girls. "

"Puppy!" Mari squealed with delight as she heard Shinji arrive. "I'm glad you're here, I was running out of subjects to entertain the princess."

Shinji smiled as he saw Mari's joy, but his focus was on the red giant in front of him, seeing how she wasn't talking to him. "Asuka."

Asuka was controlling her emotions, she was happy to see that Shinji was alive and well by her side, but she was angry at his request and for making her worry.

Shinji saw that Asuka was standing still, bringing her EVA closer and calling out again. "Asuka, look I'm sorry about before, let's talk..."

Shinji was cut off when he only saw a fist coming towards him, with no time to dodge, he only felt it when a strong punch hit his EVA's face, but the nerve connection made him feel the impact.

"Asuka! Why is that?!" Misato asked over the radio as she saw this with her eyes wide open.

"Asuka!" Mari spoke in shock as she saw EVA 01 lying on the ground.

Shinji felt the powerful punch, tasting blood in his mouth as he had the nervous comeback, raising his head, he watched as EVA 02 stood imposingly in front of him, smiling knowing that he deserved it.

"No more third party!" Asuka yelled as she looked at EVA 01 on the ground, her anger was high, Shinji was not going to get off easy for this, when she saw him again she would make sure to punch him, they would have a lot to talk about. "And get your ass up from there! It wasn't even hard!"

Shinji only watched as Asuka turned and returned to her seat, smiling as she ordered her EVA to stand up. "Yes ma'am." But soon his mind felt a small chill as he became worried about what Asuka was going to do to him when he got out of his EVA.

Shinji turned his head and watched as the pink giant made a whip gesture with his hands, widening his smile as he looked again at the horizon, but soon Maya's voice echoed over the radio.

"Alright pilots, we are sending all the weapons we have, do your best."

Shinji nodded as he saw a compartment opening up revealing a few weapons, settling for a machete of sorts, leaving the other weapons to Mari and Asuka.

Mari took knives and a machine gun of some sort, Asuka held a Minigun, analyzing the weaponry for flaws, once armed, Mari and Asuka loaded their EVAS with auxiliary batteries.

"Then this is it." Asuka spoke as she looked at her companions, they could see the Geofront clearly, soon they would be in hell.

"Let's roll!" Mari spoke as she raised her weapons and looked on with pride, Shinji only nodded with a smile.

"Contact!" Misato shouted over the radio as she approached.

The pilots only had time to look forward, soon the powerful cannons of the Wunder began to open fire with a deafening sound, Shinji could only see when energy crosses rose in the background, the infinity gaps were not for combat, so they died more easily than the Mark 09.

Stepping back and waiting, they could see several enemies coming toward them, Shinji clutched his gun tightly. "You can come."

It didn't take long for a few dozen infinity glitches to land on Wunder's deck, some simply falling beside him and plummeting to the red earth.

"Ah!" Shinji roared as he launched himself at a small group, seeing how slow their movements were, but still, the numerical superiority was too great, he could not let his guard down.

Turning his knife, Shinji dodged the failures' attempts to hold him back, feeling as the metal material collided against the enemies' weak armor, parts of limbs flying through the air with each stride.

Mari was shooting from a distance, she could see when her shots hit and misses just fell off Wunder, but the superiority were becoming a problem. "Damn it!"

Seeing how some units were managing to get close to her, she soon felt hands gripping her legs, moving away and kicking her enemies, Mari jumped to gain space, watching as they ran towards her. "Here!"

Punching their enemies with the butt, Mari watched as they were defeated, their lifeless bodies slid out of the Wunder, locking their eyes on a new group, running and delivering powerful punches to their faces.

"Get out of here!" Shouted Mari as she punched, seeing that she would be attacked from the sides, the purple giant dodged to the side, seeing how clumsy the enemies were, Mari quickly attacked, a powerful punch hit the enemy's chest making him fly out of the ship.

Asuka used her machine gun, she could see how she was managing to take down a good amount of enemies, but she could see that some were passing by, locking her eyes on her sister fighting several enemies together, Asuka looked back to see Shinji using his machete.

EVAS cut in half were all around him, his extremely sharp weapon was having no problems against the enemies, but a loud thud on his back made him fall to the ground, turning around and seeing how a large number of flaws were on top of him, feeling their hands trying to remove the armor from his chest, Shinji knew he was in danger, trying desperately to get rid of the grip. "Damn it, get the fuck off me!"

Letting out a groan of pain as he felt one of the infinity flaws biting into the leg of his EVA, Shinji soon knew he would be in trouble, feeling the return of various points of his body being bitten.

Asuka saw when Shinji fell to the ground, she turned her gun and fired a few shots hitting the enemies, being very careful not to hit Shinji, but when her aim might fail, the angry redhead rushed to his aid.

"Get the fuck off him!" Asuka shouted as she used the barrel of her machine gun as a weapon, hitting the body of the infinity flaws, seeing how she was managing to push some away.

Shinji could see the silhouette of the red giant supporting him, feeling his machete again, Shinji used it to hit some enemies, feeling how blood from the opponents fell on him.

Finally managing to regain his leg, Shinji used it to kick his enemies, seeing that he had some control back, Shinji picked up his machete and used it, cutting parts of enemies, finally managing to stand up.

Asuka let out a sigh when she saw that she had managed to help Shinji, but she soon turned her focus back to the battle. "Concentrate brat! I can't keep an eye on you!"

Shinji gave Asuka a sour look at being called a brat, but he soon saw when one of the flaws picked up a piece of armor and set off toward Asuka's back.

"Asuka!" Shinji shouted as he ran forward, knocking the red giant out of the way, watching as the infinity flaw ran towards him like a wild animal, its mouth was open and a fierce growl came out of its mouth, Shinji ran to meet it, watching as the flaw raised its hand and tried to stab his body, Shinji managed to hold his hand in the air and used his machete to pierce the abdomen of the infinity flaw hitting its core.

Rolling his eyes as he saw a strong light taking over the damaged core. "Look out!" Shinji spun around as he pushed his prey away from Wunder, watching as it simply exploded into a huge cross of energy, the blast was strong enough to knock everyone on the deck out.

Wunder struggled to maintain control after the explosion so close, but soon recovered, Shinji watched as enemies seemed to rain down from the skies toward the EVAS.

"Pilots!" Misato shouted in an anxious voice, the explosion shook Wunder hard. "They're going to meet the EVAS, you guys have to split up so we can get more ground!"

Shinji only nodded, but he had no time to speak, using his machete to kill more failures.

Asuka looked to the side and saw the freighters that were being supported by Wunder's AT field. "I'm going to Endeavor!" Asuka spoke with a smile as she walked away.

"Isn't it too far away?" Shinji asked apprehensively as he saw the aircraft carrier a considerable distance away, but he couldn't waste any time, more failures were approaching him.

Asuka smiled at this, seeing that on the way to the ship there were a few frigates along the way. "Haven't you ever played hopscotch third?" Asuka spoke smiling as she ordered her EVA to run and jump, hitting the frigate ships and using them to get momentum, one by one Asuka used them until she landed on the Endeavor aircraft carrier, seeing the destruction her movement caused. "Kensuke would cry seeing that."

Shinji watched as the infinity glitches changed their course, some went towards Asuka, relieving the pressure on Wunder.

"Hirra!" Mari yelled as she did the same thing. "I loved playing that in school!" Mari yelled as she jumped through the ships doing the same thing, only on the other side more enemies followed her.

Shinji looked worriedly at his partners, even though the enemies had gotten lighter, Mari and Asuka would be without help, or at least it would take him a while to get to the aid.

Feeling a punch to the face, Shinji was distracted enough to see that he let his guard down, growling as he used his machete to ward off his enemy by severing his arm.

Wunder's bridge was fast-paced but controlled, all the crew members were doing a good job at their posts.

"The plan worked!" Hyuga shouted to signal that Wunder was down to fewer enemies. "The failures are splitting among the EVAS."

"Good!" shouted Misato back, the sounds of firing were loud, almost deafening, but somehow they were managing to talk about the functionality of the weapons and EVAS.

"How are the pilots doing!?" Misato asked as she turned to Ritsuko who was looking at several statuses separately.

"Good." Ritsuko replied as she read the health statuses of the pilots on her console, having to brace herself as she had another explosion next to Wunder. "They are fine, their EVAS are with minimal damage!".

"How many enemies down?" Misato asked as she saw the numerous crosses in the background, seeing that Wunder was having success in destroying the enemies from a distance, but some were getting through.

"Around fifty and rising!" Tama replied as he directed the cannons at the targets, he was managing the ammunition and aiming, his console showing the statuses of the weapons.

"Keep up the pace!" Misato ordered as she leaned on the bridge, all the shots and explosions were making Wunder sway violently, her eyes focused on the Geofront, where most of the faults were concentrated.

"Activity!" Sumire shouted as she turned around, her console showing strong activity on the ground.

Proximity alarms started blaring, everyone was looking at the external display, a loud thud echoed through Wunder, Misato's eyes widened as she saw an EVA holding on to the front of the bridge.

She looked like the infinity flaws, the only difference was her face, showing an X-shaped white mask, a single black dot was in the center.

Misato growled as she saw the symbol on top of his forehead, the SEELE symbol was there, this EVA was from the secret organization.

"Bastard!" Misato growled as she saw the enemy's face staring at them curiously, but she soon snapped out of it.

Climbing up the Wunder and heading for its upper deck, SEELE's Mark 10 stopped when it saw Unit 01 standing still after shooting down more enemies, looking EVA up and down.

Shinji saw him standing in front of him, somehow this EVA was more threatening, a shiver ran down his spine.

"Shinji!" Misato spoke hurriedly over the radio. "That EVA is from SEELE, their goal is surely to capture Unit 01, don't let them! Use everything in your power!"

"Mark 10 from SEELE." Shinji spoke apprehensively more confidently, as he raised his defense and waited for the attack, somehow the infinity flaws stopped his attack. "You can come freak!"

Author's Notes: Hello Calborghete folks here, how are you? Did you like it? I hope so, so it has begun, the battle for the world has begun at last (Dramatic music).

Is Gendo dead? That easy? Yes, I know it can get weird and rushed, but I really didn't know how to end up with him in this story, you may have seen that he was not the focus, and if I did it like in Errors and Successes it would get repetitive, I hope it was good.

And now, SEELE's Mark 10 has appeared, I wonder what will happen? And EVA 13? Calm down folks.
