Short family friendly story.
The sounds of the battlefield were deafening. The swooshing noises of the defenders' purple Lightswords were mixing with the thunderous cacophony of the stampeding beasts and the cries of the fallen as the defenders succumbed to the enemies' numbers.
"Stay back!" Belched one of the valiant warriors, his mandibles shaking in fright even as his Power Riffle discharged barrage or Void energy after barrage of Void energy at the foul creatures. The ashen tide of rushing bodies continuing unperturbed to the growls of their injured allies. Two furry beasts replacing each long-toothed abomination that was pushed away due to the barrages of the Power Riffles. Spearheading the main effort of the enemy assault, the enemy commander rallied her troops from atop a dark hill of infertile soil.
"Charge forward! Break their ranks, leave no Void creature uncuddled!" Shouted the white-haired savage from the world of light, raising her great carrot sword. The army of invading bunnies gathering around the edible blade like it was a beacon of hope, their beady eyes following the orange blade's movement, their noses twitching in anticipation of the upcoming confrontation. The fluffy bellies of the numerous beasts growling impatiently, the invaders' appetite for bloodlust and destruction being undoubtedly roused from the scenes of carnage left in their wake.
The Void-dwellers screeched in horror as they stumbled away from the endless tide of fluff, abandoning their posts, the barrages of riffle fire fading the closer the beasts drew to their city. Void mothers were clutching their screeching offspring as the pawed tide crashed against their homes, the army of furry beasts splitting to form quick scouting teams that flooded the streets.
Determined patriarchs were locking their families into their underground sun shelters in an attempt to save them. Old Void beasts were standing guard as the younglings were escorted into hollowed meteor-ships. The hisses of the weeping children reverberating inside the dusty chambers of the hollowed vessel as the meteor-ships floated away to safety. The young Voidlings unblinking eyes watching helplessly their defenders being overwhelmed by the long-eared beasts with the twitching noses.
High up in the balcony of his tower of amethyst and black stone, the Void Prophet Malzahar cursed the foolishness of his people. HE had read the signs in the deaths of distant stars and had tried to warn his people of the reckoning day that was approaching, yet the Void-dwellers had appeared to be too skeptical, too absorbed in their self-fulfilling peaceful lives to heed his warnings.
An abnormal shift in the air causes the robed man to spin around in time to witness the dark form that emerged for an already dissipating portal.
"No!" Malzahar cried powerlessly, his back colliding with the railings of the balcony in his desperate attempt to put some distance between himself and the abominable being in front of him.
"Stay back you cuddle-demon!" The wise man's voice cracked as the humanoid bunny stepped away from the shadows. The last discharges of the dying riflemen illuminating the masked face of Hopssadin, the Void Hopper. The sleek white fur peeking out of underneath the⦠thing's ceremonial robes appeared unbelievably fluffy, the tasty-looking carrot-blade that was attached to the abomination's vambrace suddenly started vibrating emitting an eerie orange glow. The twin ears nested atop the hooded beast's head twitched in perverse delight reacting to the frightened man's terror.
"You too will be cuddled." Breathed out the abominable being, its strange breathing apparatus causing its ghastly voice to sound even more hauntingly distorted.
Malzahar's screams rose high above the empty sky of the burning empire, only to be silenced a short moment later. The destroyed cityscape occupying the screen for a few more seconds before it too gives away to a quiet dark canvas devoid of life.
