Ever since the ordeal at the loading dock, Owen had been separated from Barry and the others. He was very adamant on the thought of Blue being the last Velociraptor since the deaths of her sisters. So, seeing another living and breathing individual was more than a shock to him. He wondered if Blue was still around here, so he could ensure her safety. If not, hopefully, he would see it that no one could bring her to harm ever again. He also hoped that she was better off than how this place was about to become.
He hurried through the forest as he followed the trail of Dodgson and his men. He also had a score to settle with that jerk Baselton for blowing up his cabin. He knew that he was up to no good, for he had seen men like him before. Hoskins, Mills, Wheatley, all of them had bad intentions. These men were no exception. And that Dodgson character was clearly not the kind of man to mess with. He had seen the depths to which he would sink to achieve his goals. Out of all the villains he had tangled with, none of them had shown such murderous desire as Lewis Dodgson.
As he followed the main trail, he had found something else. A good amount of tire tracks left by other jeeps and motorcycles had joined the small squadron that had left the loading dock. He knew for a fact that they had to have been part of this Biosyn organization.
He pushed back the branches and leaves as he muttered to himself. "These guys..." The singing of birds gave him a sign that there was calm in this forest. He had been in the military for a long time, and he knew when things were too quiet, and when it was safe. He looked around at the forest and contemplated to himself. There was something that he had yet to consider. Something in there that he could not see. Yep, he could see it now.
He was lost.
Must've gotten turned around…
Suddenly, he could hear something. It sounded like water running. He walked in the direction he heard it, and it got louder. He quickened his pace but kept it quiet, so no one could hear him moving. He pushed back the leaves and twigs as the sound came from behind them. And when he got there, he had to grab onto a tree trunk.
Because he almost went over the cliff's edge.
He looked down to see the running water of the river below. He was at the river. The river that gave water from the ocean to this forest was right below him. Heaven knew if that Mosasaurus was down there. He knew just what that creature was capable of, as he had seen it in action once before. But where exactly at this river was he at? And how far away were the Biosyn men?
As if in reply to his thoughts, a chattering sound could be heard. He turned around to see a small, bulbous creature with four legs standing there. It had two tusks protruding from its beak. It almost reminded him of those pesky Microceratops in size. But this animal had baggies skin and was much fatter than their slender, smooth appearance. He tilted his head at the odd appearance of the creature. But then he noticed something about it.
Around the animal's neck was something that looked plastic. It seemed to be tightly stuck in a loop that made the creature seem uncomfortable. Owen recognized the object as a six-pack ring. Somebody must've discarded it somewhere in the woods. And this animal, whatever it was, was unfortunate enough to come across it. He knew just what to do.
He pulled out his trusty pocket knife and knelt down to the bulbous dino. He had used this once to mask his scent. "Hold still, little… thing." He said as he held the small animal. He then cut through the plastic as the creature snorted, as the ring finally let go of its neck. It looked up at Owen and gave a small hoot, showing that it could breathe better now.
"There you go," Owen said as he set the dinosaur down on the ground. And then he remembered something. He remembered seeing a picture of a Dinosaur resembling the creature before him when he was visiting the labs of Nublar. They called this animal Lystrosaurus and were planning to present it to the public. But then the Indominus incident occurred, and he never got to have his own exhibit. He was amazed something so small could have escaped over all that distance of water. The sounds of more hooting caught his attention. He looked to see some more Lystrosaurs were scuttling around the bushes. He watched as the one he helped looked at them and hooted at them, catching their attention.
When the group looked to see that their member had returned, one of the bigger ones nuzzled it slightly. Suddenly, the small group, ranging about to eleven, shot their heads up, as if they had sensed something. They looked to the south side of the forest and then back at Owen, who could not hear what they had heard. They seemed rather disturbed by the sound and gave a rumbling hoot in unison as if to tell him to stay away. With that being sounded, they then turned around and scuttled away in the other direction, with the individual that Owen freed turned back briefly to look at him before joining its family.
The human stood there as the small animals disappeared into the forest undergrowth. He then heard another call on the horizon. He followed the sound that came in the opposite direction that the Lystrosaurs had fled from. As he pushed aside the green surroundings of the forest, he heard an assortment of loud footsteps that sounded like thunder. Twigs breaking. As if they were being… chewed. And when he came out the other side of the forest, he found the source of the noise.
He had emerged into a large field, larger than any football field. And as he stood in this meadow, he found that he was in no way alone. He had been working with Dinosaurs for years, and he knew Herbivores when he saw them. Gallimimus, Triceratops, Apatosaurus, etc. There were many species here that he remembered seeing on the Island. But then, there were some that he had never seen before.
There was a herd of animals that looked like Triceratops, but significantly different. Their frills were far larger and wider, and their horns were more curved down. Another species bore a resemblance to Ankylosaurus, but looked sturdier and had more spikes on their backs. Their club-like tails were a lot more bizarre-looking at well. There was also one with smooth-looking skin, with what looked like a long sail on its back. Among these Dinosaurs, Owen could not decipher the name of a majority of the other animals. But he could also see that despite the varying sizes, they had not shown any hostility towards one another.
He watched as one of the sailed dinosaurs, an Ouranosaurus, was grazing from a clump of grass alongside an Iguanodon. This gave him so many flashbacks of working on Nublar. He watched the peace between these giants went untouched. That is until the loud trumpet sounded. A Parasaurolophus had emitted a loud sound from its crest as it stood straight on its hind legs. He looked to see the adult dinos beginning to form a kind of circle among their fleeing young. Something had disturbed them.
He looked to the other side of the field to see what it was that had caught their attention. Two large shapes had emerged from the tree line and started to make their way towards the herds. They were both carnivores, that was for certain. They both stood at nine feet tall and had mouths gleaming with anxious fangs.
Majungasaurus.
A row of Pentaceratops joined their armored companions as they challenged the herbivores who had stepped onto their grazing ground. The Therapods roared in advance at their potential prey. Owen saw that each defensive herbivore was working in sync with one another. This reminded him of how he and his fellow mercenaries had worked together in the good old days. Stegosaur tails swung. Ceratopsians horns waved about.
The Majungasaurs paced around as the herbivores continued to holler at the predators. Even the unarmored dinosaurs hooted and roared at their attackers. Even though they had no way of defending like armor or weaponized tails, they still could stand up for themselves. They displayed defensive behavior on their own. Owen hid in the bushes in case there was any possibility of a big fight. Or worse, a stampede.
He watched as a Euphocephalus stepped forward to face the largest Majungasaur. It tried to sink its fangs into the hide of the plant-eater but was shoved back as the smaller one growled as it watched. The predator had not been knocked off its feet and let out a roar in the Euphocephalus' face. This was met with a club-tail hit to the side, resulting in the carnivore being knocked to the ground.
Naturally, this would have been the perfect opportunity for the smaller Majungasaur to go for the neck of the herbivore as its' companion was climbing back to its' feet. The living tank waddled back into line with the others as they continued to challenge the attackers. The smaller therapod snarled as it glared at them with those beady eyes, and prepared to pounce on them. But then it stopped. It then took a few steps back, closing its mouth and hiding its fangs. It looked from side to side, like a bird would if it had been scared by something.
The bigger one had shaken the dust off of itself as it wagged its head like a dog. It looked ready to kill something now. Specifically, the Euphocephalus. It disregarded how scared the smaller one had appeared to have become and tried to charge forward and break the line. A Pachyrhinosaurus shook its head as it shoved it back with that thick nose of his. It chomped down onto its frill and tried to take it down, only to be shoved off by another Pachyrhinosaur. This time, the Majungasaur was really angry. But then, right before it had the chance to attack, it stopped. It showed the same expression of fear that the smaller one showed. As the armored dinosaurs continued to roar and bellow at them, something happened.
The young ones had rushed past their parents in the opposite direction of the Majungasaurs. Nit that they would have gone after them anyways, for they were fleeing as well. And then, right after the young ones, the smaller adult species, namely the Gallis, Pachycephos, Dracorexes, and others, began to flee as well. The parents saw this and took off after their children.
Owen was confused by this sudden break of defense. Yes, they had succeeded in driving the predators away, but why was it that the children were running the other way? Wouldn't they stay inside the circle of defense? And soon, he noticed the rest of the herds acting odd as well. They all began to look around cautiously as if they sensed something as well. They honked and squealed as they stepped back.
He may not have known much about other animal behavior besides Velociraptors, but he knew fear in an animal's eyes when he saw it. He remembered seeing it in Blue's eyes. In the whole conundrum of hooting and wails, he had been so lost in his memory, that he could not hear the rumbling. But he could barely feel it. And then it got louder. And louder. He had no idea what it was that could have started this rise in fear. But as he turned around, he got an inkling.
It may have had something to do with the foot of the Spinosaurus that he so quickly dodged.
The first thing that the people felt was a rumble. A slight feeling from below them. The cars on the highway had been lined up since the cross guards were guiding them down the detour. They had been working in that electric fence for a while now. Who knew how long it would be until they could take the normal route again? Over the honking and frustrated yelling, none of them had really felt it. To them, it was the engine running in their vehicles.
Traffic had piled up for miles on this road. They had grown immensely impatient with the amount of time taken to enter the city. That cursed fence shouldn't have been taken up so much road space. There were times that Ian Malcolm was the least favorite person in the public's eyes. This, right here, was such a time.
As the shouting continued, there were some who had stopped to think. The thing that they were feeling felt different than a running motor. Motors didn't slowly rise in noise like this was. And they could feel a slight shake in the ground. They had turned off their cars and listened carefully.
It sounded a bit like thunder. Thunder? It was such a sunny day out, with hardly any clouds in the sky. Why would there be any thunder? They merely started to shrug it off as just their imagination until they heard it.
Twigs snapping.
Running footsteps.
It seemed to come from the words that were near the road. They turned to see several shapes running their way. Dracorexes, followed by some Gallimimus and Pachycepholosaurs. The hard-headed ones rammed into some of the cars, earning some yells of fear from the passengers. The long-legged runners screeched in fear as they sprinted through the traffic.
And then, they felt it again. The rumbling grew louder and louder. They looked back at the woods and saw more movement. The trees had begun to fall. There was something knocking them down. Something big. And then, as soon as they had seen it, out they came. A large assortment of larger Dinosaurs, from Apatosaurus to Ouranosaurus. Dozens of dozens of herbivorous species came pouring out of the wrecked forest and into the street. The terrified people could hear them coming long before they could see them, but many could not get out of their cars in time.
The people up ahead had looked back to see what the screaming and bellowing was about. They saw the stampede charging their way, mowing down some of the fleeing civilians. They quickly emerged from their vehicles and started to run. Mothers held their children's hands as they ran from the oncoming death.
There was nothing but fear and terror on the faces of the herds. Bipedal and Quadrupedal alike, they were running from whatever it was that had sent them running. A Pentaceratops rammed its horns into an SUV in front of it and threw it away, killing whatever family was in there. A Stegosaurus swung its tail about and shattered any car or motorcycle that was in range.
Nobody looked back to see how far away the stampede was from them. There were only concerned with getting themselves out of there before they were trampled by this stampede. They had heard the Dinosaurs coming long before they burst from the trees. A Cacophony of horns clashing. Thunderous moans and roars. Footsteps shook the ground like an earthquake. There were now hundreds of herds stampeding through the streets. The pavement was becoming cracked and reduced to rubble. A Brachiosaurus broke through a highway bridge, sending all cars that were unfortunate enough to park there tumbling to the ground below. Even the Majungasaurus pair had been seen running for their lives to get away from the massive stampede. They managed to climb onto the higher ground as they scurried away from the scene, ignoring the blue jeep arriving from the foliage.
In the midst of the chaos, Barry and the kids had finally managed to find the trail of the Biosyn Mercenaries that had hunted them. They watched in horror as people were crushed by the scared animals. They had lost track of Owen since the incident at the loading dock and had been looking for him since. And right now, they had wished they had stayed away.
"What is going on?" Jan had not taken her eyes off of the destruction.
"Nothing good." Gray breathed.
"I need you all to stay with me," Barry said as he watched everything happening from the driver seat.
But that is when they saw it. The all too familiar red shape of the Carnotaur that had attacked them twice before rushed through the side of the chaos. Its white eyes blinked furiously as it snapped at a passing Corythosaurus. Alongside it was the Ceratosaurus they saw on the news. What had startled the group the most was that they did not seem to attack any of the herbivores. They did not seem to actually be aiming to harm them.
They were herding them.
Just like cattle ranchers herded cattle, the infected Dinosaurs were keeping the stampede in a straight line. A coordinated route. If these two were down there, no doubt that the rest of Biosyn's pack were right behind them, doing the same as them.
A chilling sound had sent shivers down their spines almost immediately after they came to this realization. They turned their heads to see a large, green form emerging from the forest. It was the lime green figure of the Giganotosaurus. The crazed Dinosaur let out a bellowing roar as it stepped out of the leaves. But it did not seem to be directed towards them.
It was towards the herbivore that had wandered away from the stampede.
The animal was indeed a Dinosaur, but not one like anything the four had ever seen before. The towering creature stood on two legs and was covered in large, brown feathers. No dinosaur that the kids or Barry had encountered in the past had any signs of feathers on them. The dinosaur had a long neck, longer than its body. But next to the feathers, the oddest thing about this creature was its long, blade-like claws.
The Giga let out a bellow towards the Therizinosaurus as the feathered challenger let out a shrill screech in reply, likely accepting the challenge. The two then charged towards one another with the Giga's foot knocking the jeep back a few feet. Barry and the kids were unharmed as they watched the fight take place. The Therizino swung its neck into the Giga as it rammed its head into its chest. The Giga roared and attempted to chomp down on its' opponent's neck but was repelled by a swift smack by the small head.
This made the temperamental Dinosaur rather angry, and it lunged forward and knocked the Therizino back. The long-clawed terror raised its left claw and struck the Giga across the face, leaving a gaping scar on the side. But this minor move turned out to be the wrong one to make.
The Giga took full advantage of this limb being down to his level and chomped down on it. The Therizino screeched loudly and tried to claw the Giga enough in the side to get it to let go, but to no avail. The crazed dinosaur pulled the arm down, causing the Therizino to get down lower. He then bit down on its neck and forced it to the ground.
Gray, naturally, had become fond of the Dinosaurs ever since the infamous Lockwood incident. He loved to sketch them and study them, just as much as Jan. He could not stand by and watch as the overpowered herbivore was about to become a victim just like they were. He saw a Red Bull can on the floor of the Jeep. He picked it up and threw it at the Giga's snout.
The dinosaur had been facing down at its fallen opponent, thirsting to spill its blood when the object collided with its nose. At first, Gray had thought that it hadn't noticed, and was prepared to throw another thing to get its attention. But then it raised its head slowly and intimidatingly. Those eyes. Those disturbing, lifeless eyes. Never had Gray felt a mix between terror and pity before when looking at something as simple as eyes. But these eyes told him a different story than others. These were the eyes of an animal forced into a life he did not want. As the Dinosaur looked at him with those lifeless eyes, Gray had almost frozen in place before Zach shook him out of his trance.
"Barry, let's go!" Jan yelled. Barry complied and put al of his foots' weight on the gas pedal and drove the vehicle away at full speed.
None of them had to look back to know that the Giga had started to pursue them. They could hear it growl in blind fury as it abandoned the Therizinosaurus to flee back into the stampede. They heard the thundering footsteps of the large predator approaching from behind.
Zach looked into one of the read views to see the face of the monster getting closer. He could see that fresh new scar on the side of its face from its little fight with the Therizino. His eyes widened as he heard that thunderous roar of crazed anger.
Suddenly, a large metallic crunch was heard as the Jeep throttled around. The three children looked up to see the mouth of the Giga clamping down on the top right side. It ripped it off with almost no effort at all. The children screamed as they rolled about. The growling filled their ears as the hot, stinky breath of the creature filled their noses. Barry kept on driving as he dared not to look back at their pursuer.
But now, he hardly had to.
Another metallic crunch could be heard as a dark shadow appeared from the back. He saw the shadow from the corner of his eye. Suddenly, the world had stopped moving. He looked back and saw the mouth of the Giga clamping itself around the entire vehicle. He and the children screamed as they got thrashed around. They could feel the Jeep get lifted off the ground, and smashed back down. And this continued over and over, slamming back into the ground time after time.
The kids could not hear Barry yelling anymore. They could barely see his body flopping around. They could not make out whether or not he was alive or not. With horror, they could see the fangs of the Dinosaur protruding from both sides of the car, squishing both sides in, and bursting the windshield open, sending shards of glass everywhere.
Just then, they could barely hear another sound. An even more thunderous roar. As if in reply, they also felt a new feeling. They felt the Giganotosaurus rear its head back, causing them to slide back into Barry's unconscious body. And then they felt the jeep fly out of the mouth and through the air. They barely caught a glimpse of the flying shapes coming towards the green monster as it let out a challenging roar before they felt the destroyed vehicle tumble down the nearby hill. It was all happening so fast; they could barely see the world speeding by.
Rolling.
Rolling.
And then, nothing.
Black.
The stampede had thundered down the highway, leaving such a horrific trail behind it. The Carnotaurus and the Ceratosaurus had been seen herding the herbivores in a straight line. Just then, the Carno lunged forward, causing a fraction of the herds to flee in a different direction. And then the Allosaurus burst from the undergrowth, and they fled down a different path.
The road to the nearby gated community.
The Allosaur was joined by the Carno and Ceratosaur, and then the Dilophosaurus. They left the other two pack members to keep the rest of the stampede in line, the way their alpha had told them to. A thunderous footstep could be heard as the massive shape of the Spinosaurus pursued the herds, chasing them towards the giant electrified fence.
Before it could let out a roar meant to terrify them further, there was something it did not expect. There was another roar, by another predator. But not one in the pack. It turned its head to see that a brown creature had emerged from the forest, surrounded by flying Pteranodons and Dimorphodons.
Rexy.
The Spinosaur let out a shrill roar that was answered by another roar by Rexy. The brown Tyrannosaur may not have been as big as the Spinosaurus, but she was still big enough to put up a good fight. She lunged forward with a bounding step as her opponent flashed his claws in advance.
He got a good grip on her as she thrashed about. She eventually rammed her head into his chin, knocking him a few steps back. The sail-backed giant swing Its claws at her but missed by only a few inches. Rexy bellowed and chomped down on his side. He shook her off and rammed her with the top of his head. He then bit down on her back and shook her like a doll.
No.
Rexy was not down yet. She wriggled out of the grasp of old Ahab's jaws and head-butted him again. Claire and the others had just arrived earlier and had gone off to do what they could do to help stop this terrible action. Zia, however, stayed behind to watch as Rexy battled her new enemy. The Spinosaur lunged forward to try and bite down on her again but was thwarted by her ramming into him at full speed.
Zia continued to watch before her walkie-talkie began to buzz. She picked it up and heard Claire's voice. "Zia? Zia, do you copy?"
"Loud and clear, Claire."
"Where are you?"
"At one of the clearings in the woods."
"We're tracking some of Biosyn's pets chasing some of the herd towards a neighborhood nearby. We're going to try and stop-"
WHACK!
"Zia? What happened? Are you still there-"
The man who knocked Zia down crushed the transmitter under his foot. He was an African-American man in a green Biosyn uniform. He carried a Machine Gun in a sling over his left shoulder. On the side of his chest read the name "Baselton." He looked down at her with a look that completely ignored the battle going on in the background.
"Whatcha doing there?" He asked.
She scrambled to her feet and attacked him, causing him to struggle in her fit of fury. "You did it!" She yelled at him. "You killed Franklin!"
"Listen, I dunno nothing about any Franklin," Baselton pushed her aside before pulling out his gun. "But I do know that after today, everyone's gonna know you were one of those people caught in the stampede."
"You really think I died from a stampede with a bunch of bullet wounds?" Zia questioned. She then threw a punch at him, but was repelled by a punch of his own to her gut. He then landed another one to her face, sending her to her knees as the ground shook from the great Battle between Rexy and Ahab.
He then aimed his gun down at her. With a cold look like that, he looked as if he were ready to shoot her dead. When faced with a man like George Baselton, there was no doubt that you were dealing with a hardened soldier. This was someone who never left his enemies alive. Someone who had never failed in any of his jobs.
Zia felt as if he was about to shoot her. And right then, it seemed like he was about to do it too. But as she closed her eyes, she did, indeed hear four quick shots, coupled by Rexy's roar. But no feeling of pain. She looked up to see the gun pointed the other way.
But then, he looked down at her and smirked.
And pushed her in the way of an angry Rexy.
Now Rexy remembered Zia from the Island, so she wasn't aiming her rage at her. She was more focused on the man who had just shot her in the leg. It did not hurt her that much, but she still was willing to teach that pesky little human a lesson. She lunged forward with a bounding step but was tripped up by a swing from her enemy's tail. Ahab then grabbed the old queen with his jaws around her neck and thrashed her about, knocking Zia near the cliff's edge overlooking the river. She looked up to see not only Baselton leaving…
But Rexy flying towards her.
The Spinosaur had thrown her. She crashed to the ground in an earthshaking impact, loosening the ground around them both. Zia felt the ground crumble beneath her feet, and immediately, she began to fall from the edge. She saw the large shape of Rexy struggling to climb back up. But those efforts were ultimately in vain, and she too came tumbling down the cliff with her.
But they both could hear old Ahab letting out a roar of victory.
Dodgson stood between the family who had escaped the stampede and the hissing Dilophosaurus. He then threw a smoke bomb at it, causing a cloud of smoke to erupt in its face. The dinosaur hissed and stumbled back.
"Light 'em up, George!" Dodgson commanded his second over the speaker in his ear.
George Baselton held his bazooka as he aimed it at the raging Ceratosaurus. "With pleasure." He replied with a smirk. He then pulled the trigger, sending a ball of smoke into its snout. It howled in anger and pain. The red-faced creature tried to step forward, but could not see the log that was right before its foot. It took one step upon it before it stumbled and fell to the ground in front of Baselton.
The soldier smirked at the fallen dinosaur. He looked behind it and saw that its ankle looked sprained. He loved to see these animals in pain. He pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed it in the snout. The Ceratosaurus roared in pain as it struggled to its feet and limped away, joining its Carnotaurus companion, along with the Allosaurus and Dilophosaurus, in fleeing into the woods.
…
…
…
As the smoke began to clear, the outcome of the great stampede became clear to the few survivors. The neighborhood was all in shambles. Houses were reduced to mere piles of bricks. Lawns and Yards were torn apart by giant footprints. And what was worse than the destroyed homes were the bodies.
Dead men, women, and Children, lie scattered all over the place where there was once a peaceful California neighborhood. Children from the ages of four to nine, to downright infants. There was no shortage of dead young ones. Very few parents and families were left alive to grieve for their lost children.
And not only were there young humans who had been killed in this catastrophe. Dead Dinosaur young were also found among the bodies. Fear had gotten into the hearts of almost every parent Dinosaur in the stampede. While the deaths of the people and dinosaurs here in the neighborhood was dreadful to behold there was still the damage on the highway as well.
Cars were in shambles as far as the eye could see. More dead people were found in rows as the stampede dinosaurs were long gone. Their footsteps had ruptured the hard pavement as pieces of bridges were also found among the rubble. And then there was the matter of the electric fence.
It had been in construction for many months. The workers had not yet gotten it electrified yet. But the Stampede had made short work of it all. I would certainly wish that there was any hope of repairing the damage, but being the writer of this story, it is my duty to write everything according to my vision, avoiding the same juvenile mistakes of Fallen Kingdom.
The survivors watched as Lewis Dodgson stood before them as his grunts finished up driving away the Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus. He stood upon the remained of an SUV as the crowd surrounded him. Baselton stood by his side as they all listened to Dodgson as he began to speak.
"Citizens of California City, it is a grim day for us all. Many of us were not as lucky as those I see before you. For so long, we all have harped on the words of John Hammond, on how Life has found a way. We all looked up to him and made it a business to fund the business he started. He had a dream. A dream to give the world something to see. He was a man of vision, and yet a severe lack thereof. His company of InGen had worked just as hard as all of us have done in our live, but they ignored the bigger picture. In their blind faith in Hammond's creations, they created the Hurisym disease and allowed the Dinosaurs to roam free. They had refused to repent for their sins. They turned their backs on us and have resulted in a global tragedy. How long will it be until what happened here today happens in every corner of the world? There is but one way to prevent this, my friends. Have your senator appear before us. We at Biosyn Genetics care about your safety. We carry your safety as our primary concern. At this very moment, our scientists are hard at work searching for a cure for this disease. Until we do find a cure, however, we request that we keep surveillance over this city and all others who sign our treaty. We will protect you all from the attacks with the weapons that have saved your lives today. We will defend you from the traitorous hand on InGen. Tonight, you can rest easy, for you will be in the care of some who seeks to fulfill your every need. We are your true friends. Your new government. Biosyn. For your best interests."
Owen watched as the Velociraptor departed from the splintered forest with its pack. He saw that device in its head and knew that it wasn't doing this of its own free will. The hands of Biosyn had to have been at work here.
The herds were long since gone, but they had left a great mess in their wake. Blue must've been far away from here by now. He hoped she was alright. And he also hoped that he would be alright as well.
Since he heard the approaching footsteps.
He knelt down behind a tree root as he saw legs approaching. The man in front of him seemed to have seen him. He slowly looked up to face the man. He looked to be somewhere in his forties with aging brown hair and a thin moustache. With his stone-cold stare, he raised up his transmitter to his mouth and spoke into it in a gruff voice.
"Hey Claire, I'm gonna catch up with you in a moment. One question though. Remember that Owen friend of yours that you described to me? You mind me picking up a hitch-hiker? Might wanna take him to the hideout with us."
It worked.
A smile formed on Wu's face as one of his mercenaries recorded the scene. The crowds clapped and cheered after Dodgson's speech. The pictures of the dead people scattered about seemed to please him. Of course, their lives mattered very little to him. All that mattered to him now was that he would soon be achieving what Hammond had failed to do.
He held the repaired Amber staff in his hand as he sat in his armchair. He heard his guards and other Biosyn operatives clapping loudly. Howard King stood by with a pale face as he locked his eyes on the carnage the stampede had caused.
All the while Maisie Lockwood was strapped to her chair, being forced to watch it as well.
"You're a monster." She muttered through her tears.
Wu slowly turned around to face her, rising from his chair. He held the staff in his hand the way her Father had done before, and Hammond had also done. He approached her slowly and surely while keeping his calm and collected demeanor stuck on his face like glue. His grin stayed there as he knelt to her level, two guards standing behind him.
"Monster?" He questioned her. "My, my, Miss Lockwood. Such strong words. You see me as a monster while you, my dear, are nothing more than a creature made in a lab."
She then furiously spat in his face. "How could you do this? ANY OF THIS?! All those people!"
Wu did not seem any bit phased by the spit in his face. He merely wiped it off as he continued to smile. "The public sees us as heroes, Miss Lockwood. Who is to say that they're wrong? You must break a few eggs to make your omelet. Hammond understood this. He had to drive natives out of Nublar before he built his park. But did he know the true history of that great mountain?"
Silence.
"Dear, sweet Maisie. I turned that mountain into a volcano behind John Hammonds back. He hardly ever took the time to even establish it as a mountain. The only way that my plan would get to where it is today, is to ensure that Mount Sibo blew that Island to Kingdom Come! That's the thing about me, Maisie. I always have a backup plan."
He smirked as he turned away. He snapped his fingers, prompting his two guards to take Maisie away. "I do hop you enjoy your stay, Miss Lockwood. Because once the funds start coming in, It's only going to get better. Miss Lockwood. My dear Maisie Lockwood…" He then gave the last six words that was virtually terrified to hear.
"Welcome… to a new Jurassic World."
*Cue the Agatha All Along Music*
Who was behind InGen's fall from Grace?
It was Dr. Wu all along!
who made Nublar an abandoned place?
it was Dr. Wu all along!
He's intelligent, a little negligent
and you haven't even noticed, and the pity is (then pity is)
pity pity pity pity
It's too late to fix anything
Now that everything has gone wrong
thanks to Dr. Wu
evil Dr. Wu
it was Dr. Wu all along!
Wu: And I killed the Brachio, too. *Laughs*
Well, ladies and gentlemen, this wraps up my longest chapter yet. Things here have definitely taken a turn for the worst now. If you think Franklin dying a few chapters ago was the worst thing to come, you have now been corrected. Never since the Jurassic World incident of 2015 has there been such a large body count. A stampede that causes more damage than ever before in the movies. This would most likely be a good way for the actual movie to redeem the franchise after Fallen Kingdom. Also, if you remember one part in this chapter, Baselton, while aware that the Ceratosaurus (Lumpy) was part of their plan, and had become feral by their own hand, continues to abuse him by just straight up STABBING HIM IN THE NOSE. I wished to establish him as being just as bad as Dodgson is. Oh yeah, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I gave each member of "The Pack" their own little names. Like Ahab the Spinosaurus, if you noticed that little detail here.
Also, this is the end of Act 1 for this story. The next part will take place several months after this entire catastrophe. With Zia and Rexy lost in the river, Maisie as Wu's prisoner, and Owen getting picked up by Maxin, there is certainly a lot to look forward to. Also, Claire, her remaining group, along with Mantah Corp and the remaining InGen operatives, are going into hiding now that Biosyn has made the public see them as terrorists. I guess you'll just have to stay tuned until the next chapter to see what happens next. Stay tuned my friends, hope you liked the chapter, and, wait for it…
Spare no Expense.
