CHAPTER 196
"We're here." Sam announced, bringing her car to a halt, the 7 Miyagi-Dos tumbling out of the large vehicle, before stopping and looking around to take in their surroundings. 15 minutes ago, they had received a follow-up call from Silver with the location they were to go to, and the teenagers had immediately converged on that location
Although there were so many question marks in the air when it came to what was going to happen during the massive battle they were about to find themselves in, at least one thing in Miyagi-Do's favor was that the questions weren't about the location. As soon as Silver had given them the address, they had all recognized the amusement park immediately, whether it be from dates, outings with friends and childhood family memories, all of the teenagers knew exactly where this place was, so at least they wouldn't be walking in completely blind.
Rather than parking right in the arcade's parking lot, they decided to stop on the next street over to gather their nerves before they walked into what would most definitely be the hardest fight of their lives. They were about to be severely outnumbered, outskilled and outmuscled by whatever army Silver had put together, and it was only the sheer heart that the Miyagi-Dos' possessed and the thought of their loved ones in the hands of the enemy that convinced the teens to push on with the plan.
With it being well past midnight and the park closed for the night, the area was dead-silent as the Miyagi-Dos arrived. They could hear each other breath. They could practically hear the nervous thoughts whirring in all of their minds. None of them could say a word, all of them rendered speechless with worry and apprehension about what was to come. They merely relied on slight nods at one another to non-verbally check in with their friends and make sure that they were all ready for what was to come.
"What the hell?" Miguel murmured, breaking the silence when all of a sudden, the distinct headlights of a car came screeching towards them. They weren't at the park just yet as they had parked a little bit away for a reason, but that didn't change the fear that all of them saw as they watched the car hurtling towards them. Could it be Silver or one of his men, too eager to start the fight to wait until they had even set foot in Golf n Stuff?
It wasn't thankfully, though most of the Miyagi-Dos felt equally displeased as they saw who stepped out of the car that had parked beside them. It definitely wasn't a threat, as rather than an enemy, it was the rest of Miyagi-Do; it was their teammates. Chris, Nate, Bert, Devon and Anthony were all there, getting out of the car and walking over to the Miyagi-Dos, all of them gritting their teeth and curling their fists in determination.
"Who called them?" Tory snapped, her eyes firmly locked on Devon as the younger teenagers walked over to the older leaders.
"I did." Demetri admitted quietly, and the 6 other young adults spun around to face him, shock and anger written all over their faces.
"What the hell, Demetri?!" Hawk snapped. Demetri sighed.
"Look, I did what you said. No cops or adults. But I think if we want any chance at winning this thing, we're going to need all of the hope we can possibly get." Demetri murmured. Sam, whose eyes were fixed on her younger brother, shook her head furiously as the rest of Miyagi-Do made it over to them.
"No, no, no. Not happening. Chris, you're a legal adult so you can stay if you want to. But the rest of you… go home." Sam demanded, but the 4 youngest Miyagi-Dos were rooted to the spot.
"Not a chance. We want to fight alongside you. We want to help you." Bert stated.
"Do your parents know you guys are here?!" Miguel exclaimed. Anthony raised an eyebrow at him.
"Do yours?" Anthony shot back. Miguel was left stuttering for a response for a few moments, before Sam thankfully helped him out.
"There's a difference, Anthony. Miguel's 18. He's a legal adult. So are Chris, Hawk, Demetri, Tory, Robby, Marcos and me. The rest of you are underage. You're still minors!" Sam said.
"We're staying." Devon responded coolly. "You would all do the same for us. So we owe it to you to do the same. Besides… we've already all fought together at the dojo last summer and that worked out just fine."
"That's very different." Robby stated. "That was against a group of teenagers. Not a gang of fully grown adults, many of them trained fighters who can beat us 1 on 1, let alone when we're massively outnumbered like we're about to be right now."
"Not only that, but there was so much less at stake there." Miguel added. "Here… we either win, or that's it. We're all done. We're all dead."
"All the more reason why we should be here. We can help. And more importantly… we're not going to let you guys walk into a massive brawl without any kind of support. 12 people is better than 7."
The younger students made it abundantly clear that they weren't leaving any time soon. They stood their ground, refusing to relent as the older students tried to force them to go home. They illustrated just how badly this fight could go, that this could well be their last night on Earth, but even that didn't deter the other students. In fact, it ended up doing the exact opposite: it only made them more determined to help their friends. Although the likes of Miguel, Sam, Robby, Hawk and Tory were considered to be the leaders of Miyagi-Do, there was only so much authority they had when it came to situations like these. They couldn't force the rest of the younger students to leave, no matter how badly they wanted to. So that left only one other option.
"Look, none of you have to do this. Let's make that crystal clear." Miguel stated. "There's NO pressure whatsoever. And there's a good chance none of us walk away from tonight, you realize that right?"
"Guys, let us do this. This is our war. All of ours. We're going to end it all together." Anthony said. Although he had been one of the last people in Miyagi-Do to join, he was absolutely spot on with this statement. Although this war had started almost 40 years with their parents and senseis, it had transitioned onto their shoulders now. After all of the history, all of the blood, all of the tears, all of the hardships that every single one of them had faced because of this war, it was only right that they would be the ones to finish it. And it would end tonight, whichever way the result went.
"Fine." Sam murmured, staring at her brother that she had come to recently adore. "Just… be careful, okay? All of you."
It was settled. All 11 of the Miyagi-Dos, as well as the King Cobra, would all be fighting alongside one another for quite possibly the final time. The older students were still very worried about the younger ones, especially Tory and Sam, who had particularly close relationships with Devon and Anthony. The two old girls immediately walked over to the 15 and 16 year old, making sure that they were okay, that they were truly okay to do this. Devon and Anthony were adamant though, the two de facto leaders of the younger generation, and seeing the love between the mentors and mentees caused a pang of pain and guilt to stab through Robby's chest, forcing him to think about Kenny. The relationship between him and his former mentee, although it wasn't as toxic as it had been when Robby had first left Cobra Kai, was still non-existent. He hadn't so much as heard from Kenny in a while, and so Robby swore to himself that he was going to make it out of here tonight and when he did, he would make things right with Kenny once and for all.
Now that the teenagers were all present and prepared for the fight that was to come, they began to walk the short distance from their cars to Golf N Stuff. Not long now, they thought, as their hearts pounded louder than their footsteps crunching against the asphalt. There was no turning back now, and there could only be two ways this could go: either they managed to overpower an entire army of ruthless fighters that Silver had hired; or they died. There was absolutely no in between, and that would've been a paralysingly terrifying thought if the Miyagi-Dos hadn't all been so full of adrenaline as they converged on the location where the hostages were being kept.
Plenty of the older students were still slightly reluctant to have the younger students around, worried about what could happen to them. Demetri, the one who had actually called them in the first place, was among them too. However, there was also a part of him that was frustrated. When he had made the call for help to the younger teenagers, he had also gone against the opinions of the rest of Miyagi-Do and had called Daniel to tell him about what was going on. The call hadn't been answered, but Demetri left him an urgent voicemail, the only one with the common sense to realize that without the adults, there was an absolutely 0 chance of any of them surviving tonight. They needed the adults' help, but unfortunately only the young teenagers had answered the call. He simply prayed that Daniel got the message soon and support would be on the way before it was too late.
As they approached a sign that in block capitals stated WELCOME TO GOLF N STUFF ARCADE & AMUSEMENT PARK, it was official. Here we go…
