They had won.
After the treacherous actions and the ingenious design of the former mind from their biggest rival, Biosyn had won. The goal they set in the shadows for so long had finally come full circle. Every human in the United States knew their name. It had been weeks since the great day of truth they called Phase Three. And ever since that day, the world had started to become a rather different one than before.
In every street in every city marched two to six squadrons of Biosyn soldiers. All civilians steered clear of their path whenever they marched through. When the representative, Lewis Dodgson, came to speak with the senator of California, that was the turning point for the end goal of Biosyn's terrible endeavors. But patrolling through the streets was not even the worst part.
When the United States are being run by a dictatorship, there are worst things to come.
There was no place anyone could hide from their vigilant eye. Surveillance cameras hung on every wall, watching every movement and every breath. No one so much as spoke without it being monitored by someone in Biosyn. No one could speak against them without them finding out.
Companies had suffered enough from the events of 2015 and 2018, but now, those instances were all but forgotten by the state of the present day. Biosyn had charged so many stock companies with expenses required for their funding. However much they made at the end of the month would have to be sent to Biosyn. All for their protection.
Many of America's soldiers were drafted into Biosyn, as a means of expanding their ranks. Every state was given their boundaries. No one could leave without the permission of Biosyn. Everything was held in a tight hand and space. The might grip of Biosyn conquered all.
And then there was the icing on the cake. The fact that many neighborhoods around the globe were forced to be cleared out in a wide exodus. Once they were empty, the dictators went to work. They bulldozed every house that once held young, happy children. The intention, as the now homeless people concluded, was to clear the way for new bases for Biosyn to be built. Unfortunately, congress was forced to concede with Dodgson's claims.
There was no way to remember a time before Biosyn's rise. Even now, with it having just begun. They were not just some bioengineering company like InGen or Mantah Corp. No, they were far more greater. Far more cunning.
But it was far away from any city they controlled that the Representative himself had come to. The snowy outskirts of Minnesota was where the main base of this corrupt organization was hidden. Far away from where anyone could find it.
Dozens of the green suited Mercenaries had gathered to the main lounge. Several of them had been there for the events of Phase Three. Others were new soldiers who eagerly joined with them after their rise to power. They knew what was really going on behind closed doors, but they had decided to steer clear of their wrath by joining them.
In the center of the room was the man himself. The man who represented Biosyn in court. The man behind the events of 1993 and beyond.
Dodgson.
He stood in front of his comrades with a bottle of Sherry in his hand. He held a glass in the other and filled it up, setting the bottle in the table next to him. He raised his glass to the crowds of mercs gathered.
"Hey, how we doing tonight? Huh?" He asked them, being met with applause and happy yells. "Tonight is a big night, isn't it? Here we are. You know, when Biosyn genetics was founded in 1935, we had an idea. And that idea only got bigger from the moment our world evolved. When InGen found something new. Something that the likes of God's world had never seen before. When they found a way to create life from something dead. And I have to say, for a guy who never even wrote a speech for tonight, I have a few stories I'd like to tell from what I've dug up. People say that we are the terrorists. WE are the bad guys. But look at the history of InGen and say that again.
Did any of you know that InGen had to force people off of Isla Nublar for their plans for Jurassic Park? John Hammond cut corners for his dream, corners that the world cannot live without. But if he were alive today, I wouldn't hesitate to thank him. Because now, we have him to thank for our success. To John Hammond!"
The room burst into yells and applause. Cheering like they had just listened to the ending of a concert, the men of Biosyn clapped their hands together and cheered loudly. Once it died down, Dodgson spoke again.
"But he is not the only one I wish to call out tonight. Tonight, we celebrate EVERYONE who has played a part in the rise of the new world. There was William Richardson Steingarten, the former CEO of our beloved company. Bill had wanted to outshine Hammond even after his death. With his recent retirement, now has his dream of new Government come true. His dream, is now our reality. To Steingarten!"
The applause came again.
"To George Baselton, esteemed General of our ranks. Formerly a marine in the U.S. Navy, Baselton here worked himself to the bone to rise from the bottom to the top. You even worked alongside Raptor trainer Owen Grady at one point! After that, you joined with our line of soldiers and became our top General. With your tenacity and strength, Biosyn has become something no one has ever seen before. You never take no for an answer. You never stop at the gate. When you have a goal, you set it good, you always find a way to go through with it. To Baselton!"
Applause.
"And finally, our chief researcher and geneticist, Mr. Howard Silas King. A family man. Your children are hoping to go to Stanford one day, am I right? Yes, I can see it. He and I have known each other for a very long time, long before even the second park. As if things weren't hard enough on you after your first research failed. When the second park went down the toilet, your job opportunities went with it. A hard life for anyone. But your worries came to an end when the anonymous sender of a certain letter came to your door. Who would've thought that by following the instructions of someone you didn't even know could lead to a new world? It was them that gave you the right direction to create the Hurisym chemical. You perfected a serum that could seep into an animal's mind and turn them into something more unpredictable than an animal. A monster. It was all you, King. You helped guide us to the path of righteousness. To Howard King, everyone. The true hero of Biosyn!"
The blonde headed man sat in his chair as he received several pats on the back. He watched as his 'friend' congratulated him on making monsters. To say that he felt uncomfortable was an understatement. He never asked to be the cause of so many deaths. All he wanted was for what he thought was a genetics company to succeed. But now here he was, the man responsible for a terrorist organization taking control of the United States. He just sank into his chair as the applause went on.
Dodgson took a long drink of his Sherry as others followed suit in his drinking. It looked like New Years for these people. All a bunch of happy, drinking dictators. Toasting to ruining the lives of thousands. As happy as everything seemed, there was so much horror to keep in mind.
"Hey, Wait a minute!"
The voice of one of the soldiers eventually got everyone's attention as they turned to the drunk man. The name on his uniform read "Richards." He waved his hands up to get everyone's attention.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute." Richards said dozily. "You're forgetting someone there, Lewis."
"What's that?" Dodgson raised an eyebrow.
"Wu!" Richards answered. "Henry Wu? The guy who owns the company now. You know, man. He's the one who started everything in the first place."
Dodgson chuckled as he turned to face the crowd, then returned to face him. "Richards, from south, Philadelphia. Yeah, you're one of our newest soldiers, am I correct?"
"Absolutely," Richards hiccupped.
"And why exactly should I mention Wu?" Dodgson questioned. "What's he got to do with our success?"
"Dude, he's the one who shot Biosyn forward!" Richards continued. "The guy literally found a way to control the Dinosaurs, and that's what got everyone to trust us. And besides, compared to him, you're just second. Just saying."
Now, there were lots of people at this gathering who knew Dodgson well. They had worked with him for a long time. They knew how explosive his temper could be someone upset him. And they knew that he did not like being called second best.. They prepared for him to start exploding at the drunken newbie.
But they didn't expect him to laugh.
Dodgson walked down to where Richards was seated. And he laughed. He laughed and put his hand in his shoulder. "You know, I like you, Richards. You seem like a knowledgeable man. That's what we need here in Biosyn." He began to walk with Richards as the crowd parted for him. He had his other hand inside of his pocket, fiddling around with something.
"Oh yeah," Richards said drunkenly. "I'm surprised you're not mad. "
"Ah, why would I be?" Dodgson said as he patted Richards on the back. "Ingenuity is what we do here in Biosyn. Here, we are what people call, creative. And creativity comes with… sacrifices." As Dodgson led Richards to the outside through the back door, he began to laugh. As drunk of a man as Richards was, he followed suit in his laughter.
But even after the ten seconds of drunken laughing, it was soon replaced by a weary 'huh?' As Dodgson lifted the man up and threw him outside. Richards body they flew out the window and was intercepted by a sudden flash of brownish-red. The screams of the Biosyn mercenary were replaced by the crunching of bones as the Carnotaur went to town on him.
Just as he commanded his Raptor to tell him
Once the dinosaur outside was finished with its meal, Dodgson turned back to the men who had watched the deed. There were all silent before George Baselton broke their silence. "To Dodgson everybody!"
The crowds suddenly started clapping again. They all seemed to forget seeing the sight of Dodgson throwing a man to one of their assets. They knew much better now. They just used Richards as an example.
An example of Dodgson's temper.
Maisie had been locked inside of the office for who knew how long. She had rarely seen the light of day, excepting when it came from the window. The twisted fiend had kept her here ever since he found her sneaking around his lab that day.
The chains around her hands held her to the wall as she looked around the darkness. She heard the laughter of the men below her celebrating. What burned her up inside was not the sounds of crunching bones, but the sound of their laughter. She knew what kind of people they were down there. She had seen men like them. Men who were more interested in money than people's lives.
However, these men had lowered the bar. Eli Mills was a saint compared to this group of men, especially that Dodgson. Dodgson was ten times worse than him. Of course, he had some major competition. The mad doctor, of course, was nothing short of a madman. A genius, no doubt. But a genius twisted by his own diluted vision. Men like them were always out for money, but Henry Wu was not among them. He was in this entire tragic event all for the sake of ruling everyone like a dictator. He was nowhere near worthy of holding that staff he had fixed. Her father may not have been worthy, but he still was much better suited than that delusional madman.
"You look hungry, Maisie."
Speak of the devil, and he will appear.
She looked up to see Wu standing there in the shadows. The light of the party downstairs shining onto the amber of his staff, barely giving her a view of the mosquito inside. She could still see his face as he lowered down to her level. "They seem to be having a good time down there. Shame you've had to miss it."
"You plan on feeding me anytime soon?" She asked the bad doctor.
"All in good time, little Lockwood." She could read Wu's face in the dark, merely by listening to the change of tone in his voice. "You know, I could have stopped you that day. I knew you were there, listening to me and Mills. I have many allies; some you would not expect. I didn't stop you because I underestimated you. I had no idea what you were. It is fascinating, to be honest. To think someone like Benjamin Lockwood would have the idea to clone his daughter. Oh, how I warned him."
"Warned him?"
"Of what would happen if I gave him the technology he needed."
The girl felt a chill of fear crawl down her spine as she listened to the doctor speak. She knew that she was a clone, but the one part of this that she didn't know was how it was done exactly. She backed up slightly as Wu only got closer. A wide smirk formed on his face with a hint of interest.
"How very strange. When I gave Lockwood the idea of creating a clone of his daughter, I never realized what the outcome would be. You truly are a marvel, Maisie. The first cloned human. Who knows? Now that I am in control of everything in the United Nations, I have enough power to strengthen my work."
He then stood back up, leaving poor Maisie to sit there as she processed everything that she had learned. For the longest time, she had thought that her father was the one who created her from her mother's body all on his own. But to hear that a traitorous man like Wu had given him a tip on how to do it was unlike anything she had expected. As if her world hadn't come falling down enough when she learned of her true design.
She watched as Wu dug around inside of his desk. "I am glad you came, by the way, Ms. Lockwood." He said. "I wanted to show you something. Something that no one, not even the simple mind of Lockwood, had ever dared to consider. I want to show you what happens when a human becomes more than God's blueprints."
Maisie could see it now. What Wu was looking for. He pulled it out of the drawer and held it close to him. It was a syringe, containing a strange, purple liquid. The reflection of it glowed in the light outside, enveloped by the white of the outside snow.
Masie prepared to see the true man underneath the skin. She prepared to see a monster.
Uh oh, it looks like Wu may be hooked on some drug he keeps in his drawer. He may be keeping Maisie under good management, but it's not because he cares for her. There is something that our central antagonist is planning beyond controlling the Government. And it may have something to do with Maisie and the strange syringe he is injecting in himself.
Also, we return to Biosyn Base for the first time since chapter 5. Man, it's been a whole year since I started making this story. Much of which were things that came to mind as I went along, such as the death of Franklin and other things. Here, we got Dodgson giving a toast to the success of Biosyn. And judging by the way he threw Richards, one of his newest soldiers, into the jaws of Khan the Carno, he seems to hate being inferior to Wu. Word of advice: when dealing with JWD MV Dodgson, be sure not to mention being second. Here is where I wanted to show what true crimes could be done by being ruled by a dictatorship like Wu's. The people of the U.S.A are now slaves to Biosyn, they just don't know it yet.
Welp, here is where I leave this chapter for now. What is the next plan for Biosyn? Will they find the hiding place of InGen and Mantah Corp? What's that strange drug Wu's taking? And what effect can it have on him? Stay tuned, and Spare no Expense.
