Avengers Compound the next morning.
"What happened," Fury demanded to the assembled Avengers. Sam trying to fix the damage Spider-Man did to his suit. Widow and Bucky icing their burses and Tony on his tablet without a care in the world.
"We underestimated Spider-Man," Steve sighed also icing a dark burse forming on his shoulder
"He made us look like fools." Widow hissed her hair still a mess from all the webbing last night
"He destroyed my suit," Sam grumbled tossing a piece of twisted metal on the coffee table
"Webbed up my suit." Tony sighed not looking up from his tablet
"Not to mention using you as a surf broad." Clint laughed Tony shot the archer a glare which only made him laugh more.
"I thought he was going to eat me." Everyone looked at Scott with a confused look "what spiders eat ants and his mask gives me the creeps." Scott said suppressing a shutter
"Seems that Spider-man tied you up with his words long before he added some webs. Stark from everyone's reports you all had a solid plan before you messed it up." Fury's eye narrowed at the billionaire
"I messed it up I didn't want to just attack Spider-Man for no reason in the first place. he is one of the good guys I still don't understand why we are even fighting him in the first place," Tony shouted glaring back at the SHIELD director
"It was hilarious! Spiderman totally out-sassed Tony." Clint laughed trying to lighten the thick atmosphere but no one seemed to be in a joking mood "come on guys it was funny you know before the whole butt-kicking part." Clint shrank back into his seat seeing everyone glaring at him.
"It doesn't matter now; we need to think of another plan to get Spider-man here." Bruce sighed coming into the room handing another ice pack to Scott for the kick he took to the chest.
"We messed up the moment we asked for his identity. Now we are trying to force him to cooperate." Steve started rubbing his store jaw
"Spider-man is strong a lot stronger than he let on we underestimated him that won't happen again." Widow hissed she didn't like being made a fool of. Something she always thought Spider-man was… a fool that couldn't take anything seriously and tried to play the hero.
"of course, now he knows we're after him we lost the element of surprise," Sam stated giving up trying to fix this suit and leaning back into his chair. Giving one last look of disgust and sadness at his broken suit.
"Yeah, thanks a lot Stark if you had just followed the plan we probably already have all the webhead's secrets," Clint said pointing a Cheeto accusingly at him.
"Do you guys hear yourselves we have fought bad guys with Spider-man, did any of you think of him as a threat then, what is with the sudden change?" Tony asked, "sure he can be an annoying bug sometimes but he has been helpful in the past."
"We discussed this Stark" Fury started to say
"No, you discussed and we didn't have much of a say in the matter!" Tony shouted standing up from his seat
"If Spiderman is hiding this much power, power enough to take out half the Avenger who knows what else he is hiding maybe Fury is right and we need to assess if Spider-Man is a threat or not," Rhoady stated he wasn't a part of the fight last night but he saw the footage and was a little worried how easily the Avengers were taken down.
"no one is stronger than the Avengers he just got lucky." Ant-Man said looking at his teammate's frowns "right…?" he added when no one said anything.
"I am as curious as the next guy to find out who Spider-Man really is but I don't think making him an enemy is a good idea." Tony insisted trying desperately to get his teammate on his side but no one would really met his gaze.
"We are not trying to make him our enemy Tony we just need his information then if he is not a threat he is free to continue what he is doing," Steve stated Tony throws up his hands in exasperation.
"I am done talking about this if you need me I will be in my lab." Tony stormed off no one tried to stop him.
Tony was lost in thought thinking of the first time he had run into the wall-crawler. It was several years ago; some bad guys had stolen some of his tech and were trying to use it to make some doom's day devices the other Avengers were on other assignments or just doing their own thing. Tony Stark didn't think he need any of their help this was his tech and they were some low-level thugs thinking they could become big bad supervillains.
He found his stolen tech easy enough but it blew up in his face quite literally. Spider-Man showed up out of nowhere in red and Blue spandex saving his life, saved Iron man an avenger without even thinking from getting blown up from his own tech when his suit was damaged.
"What are you doing here? this isn't your problem!" Tony shouted
"It looked like you needed help and I am here to help Tin can." Spiderman quipped jumping off bad guys and laughing at their confusion
"You can get hurt you should leave this to the professionals," Tony said recovering enough firing his repulsors
"Everyone needs help sometimes and I am here; I am helping you that's what heroes do," Spiderman said that confused Tony. Spider-Man saw that he was in trouble he didn't care what was going on but that he just needed help. Afterward, he sat with Spider-man on a roof Spider-man rambling about random stuff that at the time Tony didn't care to listen to.
"Why do you wear a mask?" Tony had asked out of the blue Spider-man had stilled silencing whatever he was talking about
"Why do you ask?" Spider-Man asked now looking down at his red webbed gloves
"Because I am curious why you do what you do who you are under the mask when this city doesn't seem to care about you." Tony didn't understand it seemed far too much of a hassle SHIELD tried to give him a secret identity but he was sure they could force him into several more corners with the threat of keeping his identity well secret. Tony thought that having a secret identity kind of seemed like an unnecessary burden.
"it's complicated." Spiderman sighed his shoulders slumped gone the funny energetic spider-man Tony thought he had made a mistake in asking but he pressed he wanted to know he didn't care about the spiders' feelings
"At first I was kind of watching my own ass but…" he took a deep breath and ran a hand over his masked face giving in to answer "the whole reason I started this-" Spider-man gestured to his costume then the city "-is because I wanted revenge, someone important to me died and it was my fault I made a mistake and…" he trailed off "anyway I was angry I wanted to fix my mistake so I went for revenge."
To Tony, this started to sound uncomfortably familiar, he of course didn't voice this as Spider-Man continued. "I tracked the guy down and nearly killed him… but I stopped myself and thought about what my loved ones who mattered to me would have wanted and it wasn't killing that man. So, I left him for the cops and headed home, thinking I'd done the right thing. I can't take the mask off because I'd be putting somebody who had nothing to do with this at risk."
"That seems like a lot of work for someone who doesn't seem worth it. if he killed someone you loved doesn't he deserve to suffer"
"Everyone is worth it Tin Can and everyone deserves a second chance he is in prison and that is all I care about… you could do a lot more as Iron-Man you know," Spiderman said seeming to change the subject
Tony laughed "want do you mean I am an Avenger you know earth Mightiest heroes and all that we saved New York and the world a bunch of times." But then that is when Spiderman told him that he could do a lot more than just fix his own actions. He knew why he was attacking that warehouse and about his stolen tech he never asked how Spider-man figured it out but he told Tony could step past his boundaries to help people not to boast his own ego but to actually help people as a hero. Tony had made a joke that was probably a low blow at the time about how people throw trash at Spider-Man for being a hero for the little people all the time. But Spider-Man just shrugged saying he didn't care as long as he was helping someone. that made a difference to Tony. Spider-Man was new in the superhero world at the time but he already seemed to have a handle on what he was doing. How being a hero was helping people first and everything else came second.
Tony thought about how he'd been doing everything half-cocked and unplanned, and it was probably going to hurt someone if he kept it up. Trying to be a solo hero who didn't know what he was doing just showing off and being a badass. Even when he was with the Avengers the was a solo act which they all have yelled at him for. When he was going to ask Spider-man how he did it he only looked up to see he was gone.
Spider-man, somebody he'd barely knew had pushed him over the edge from just fixing his own messes to actually helping people. If it wasn't for becoming Iron man he probably would have never changed but it was Spiderman that had pushed that lesson into his mind in the first place. After that night he was a better Iron man, he helped his Team more. he offered all of them to live together to help the team bonding and become stronger and they were stronger. If it wasn't for spiderman who knows if the Avenger would have survived as long as they did.
After that night Spider-Man had shown up to help anytime the city was in danger acting like a goofball most of the time calling out his lame jokes and quips. For a while, Tony actually thought that little heart-to-heart was just a dream until now remembering that Spider-Man was a hero but never got the credit for it.
What the Avengers were doing now was wrong Spider-Man didn't deserve this and he knew he messed up he just hoped Spider-man would forgive him. Spidey was a cool dude and for some reason, it hurt him thinking that whatever friendship he had with the masked hero could be over because of this.
"Jarvis can you bring up a map of all the Spider-man sightings," Tony ordered and he got to his workbench in one of his many labs. A Holographic of New York appeared showing many red dots. "That seems pretty random." Tony sighed seeing most of the red dots were all over Manhattan but there had been a few in Hell's kitchen, a lot in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx even Staten Island. Spidey sure got around Tony thought to himself.
"Jarvis can you bring up everything pertaining to Spider-Man," Tony asked holographic screens appeared all over his lab. Some of the same pictures and videos SHIELD had some YouTube videos and blogs. The Spider-Man fan web page (SHIELD didn't care about that) as well as the Spider-Man Menace page. Tony snorted to himself he couldn't believe some of the stories. One Holo-screen off to his left caught his eye it was the News and from the look of it was live. "Jarvis turn that up" he ordered
"Last night the Avengers attacked the masked vigilante Spider-Man does this confirm Spider-Man as a villain.?" A female news anchor stated
"Of course, it does I have been telling the fine citizens of New York for years that Spider-man is a Menace he terrorizes New York, and 'Heroes' the Avengers have finically woken up to that fact Spider-Man needs to answer for all his crimes!"
"Jameson but hasn't Spider-Man saved New York and many of its citizens time and time again hasn't he teamed up with the Avengers on occasion?" the Lady News anchor asked. MakingTony realize this was a debate of spiderman station as a hero
Jameson scoffed "saved the city he was the cause of most of the villains all for some evil plot!" he shouted "and now he has fought the Avengers almost killed them when they were trying to arrest him! I might not like these so-called Heroes being that we never saw supervillains or aliens until these costumed Freaks showed up but now they finally waking up they see Spider-Man for the monster he is!" the man shouted glaring into the camera daring anyone to challenge that statement
"Here is a video taken last night from a bystander." The lady announced also facing the camera. A grainy video replaced the news anchors it showed Spider-man hitting Captain America with his own Shield and him webbing up Bucky and Widow.
"See you have it New Yorkers what more do you need of Masked Menace!" Jameson shouted pointing at the camera when the video ended with Spiderman swing off.
"Turn it off Jarvis I have heard enough." Tony sighed feeling a little guilty knowing this didn't help Spider-Man's shaky reputation.
"What are you doing?" Bruce asked making Tony jump with the sudden appearance of his friend
"Nothing," Tony stated ignoring Bruce rising his eyebrow and continuing to stare at the screens around the room
"It looks like you are looking into Spider-Man I thought you didn't approve of the Avengers going after him."
"I don't approve but I know how stubborn Fury can be so I thought if I could find out the information they need they will just leave Spidey alone." Tony hope but in the back of his mind he knew that probably wasn't going to happen his best hope was to limit the pain spiderman would have to go though
"That actually is a good plan do you mind if I help?" Bruce asked Tony just shrugged trying to ignore Bruce's surprised tone. Bruce took that as a yes and looked at the Holo-screens surrounding Tony. "What did you find out so far?"
"Nothing much I tried to narrow down to see if I could find out where he hangs out but…" Tony waved Bruce over to the map of New York and all the Spider-Man sightings in red. Bruce nodded seeing that there were too many sightings to really narrow it down to one area.
"Have you tried to see what all the response times to all these locations?" Bruce asked
"Jarvis." Tony prompted the red dots to change to numbers and dates appeared in purple "still pretty random he is fast." Tony whistled seeing how Spiderman seemed to jump around the city stopping crime after crime without much time in between.
"Okay, why don't we see what kind of crimes he goes after maybe there will be a clue in that," Bruce suggested the holo screens shifted to news paper articles and videos of the crimes spiderman was seen at.
"Spider-Man doesn't seem to have a preference seeing as he stops every from supervillains then goes to saving cats from trees." Tony sighed
"What about when Spider-Man first showed up?"
"Jarvis can you just show all information from when Spider-Man first appeared?" the number of holo-screens was cut down until there were only five screens.
"Okay well, this is interesting," Tony said sarcastically mostly at the lack of information
"Spider-Man was seen as a myth for the first several months only having sightings of criminals wrapped up in webs and word of a something with large eyes and webbing. others of a man so fast you can't see and then of a man in the shadows." Bruce read off one of the screens seeing the only pictures at the time were of webbed-up criminals and webs where a crime that taken place.
"Until we came into the light with his first Supervillains. Turning his nights super-heroin to daily activity." Tony continued "the first sightings were in Manhattan and Queens. He started branching out from there."
"So that could mean he lives in either Manhattan or Queens" Bruce suggested
"That doesn't really narrow it down." Tony sighed being that Manhattan and Queens were the largest of the five in New York. Being that the population of 2,405,464 in Queens alone.
"It looks like he mostly started off with thieves and muggings," Bruce stated not really seeing how that is helpful. As there is an average of 30 muggings a day, but have gone down slightly since Spider-Man appeared
"Well, if he is in his mid to late 20ies as SHIELD thinks then he started in his early 20ies maybe he was mugged and decided to go after muggers." Tony theorized
"Not knowing his actual age makes this harder. If you are correct the number of muggings that happen in New York wouldn't help narrow this down." Bruce sighed
"Spider-Man has covered his tracks really well where even SHIELD and all their spy-e-ness can't figure out who he is. if we just had more information to work with…" Tony trailed off.
"I Know Spider-Man talks a lot when he fights do you remember anything that could tie back to himself when you have teamed up with him before?" Bruce asked
"No honestly I never really paid attention when Spider-Man was talking but all I remember is bad jokes and insults at the criminals, which did make the fights more interesting." They both sighed not wanting to give up but not sure how to proceed with little to no information to go on not knowing which information was relevant or given to them to throw them off.
So, there they stayed for the rest of the day searching for any clues in the thousands of videos and stories. Hours of bouncing theories off each other hoping something would make since and lead them to the man behind the mask.
With Steve
Steve felt conflicted he had read reports on Spider-Man he had talked to the people he had saved, and seen the man in action he thought Spider-man was a hero, diving in to save people from a burning building without thinking seeing him not asking for recognition or thanks. The media made him out to be an evil mastermind and criminal but he still set out to save people even if they yelled at him or called him names. It was one thing he admired from the young man.
He thought back to the first time he had met Spider-Man.
It was during a prisoner transfer to a secure SHIELD facility only Hawkeye and Him were the Avengers assigned for protection detail. Everything was going well until their convoy was attacked by members of the serpent society trying to free their other members in the convoy. Hawkeye was nowhere to be found and the SHIELD agents weren't being much help until a red and blue figure came out of nowhere and help him get out of one of the serpent's traps.
"Hey Captain America Sir I am here to oh." Spiderman dodged one of the serpent's spiked tails and flipped to his other side "to help you."
Before Cap could answer one of the serpent people on with an electric rattle on its tail destabilized the surrounding street and the convoy with the prisoners crashed down in the subway then with the extra weight it crashed into the abandoned subway underneath that.
"Help the Agents" Cap ordered when the dust settled
"Right," Spider-Man said jumping on top of the turned-over convoy and ripping the door off its hinges to get the wounded Agents out of the car while cap checked on the prisoners Spiderman also saved trapped civilians that were still in the subway car which came down with the convoy.
"Get away!" Cap turn seeing a bunch of civilians around spider-man yelling at him and telling he was a menace
"Sorry I am just trying to help," Spider-Man said in a calming voice his hand raised in a surrender gesture trying to calm everyone down, but the people were scared and angry
"You're probably the reason we are in this mess!" An elderly man shouted
"Is there a problem here," Cap asked coming up to the crowd they grumbled and moved off Cap looked at Spider-man it was hard to read what the young man was thinking with the full-face mask, so he wasn't sure if he was hurt by the insults or not. To Steve it didn't really matter at the time in all honesty he didn't know what to think of the masked man.
The surrounding area was unstable so Cap suggested they all walk to the nearest access tunnel the civilians weren't happy about it but they followed along with Spider-man leading the way and Cap stayed in the back with the prisoners and the wounded SHIELD Agents. Steve watched Spider-man walking upside-down on the ceiling leading with a light he had that lit the dark tunnel in a reddish glow. He didn't know spider-man and wasn't sure if he was a good guy or a bad one but his gut told him at the moment Spider-man wasn't a threat.
Spider-Man appeared in front of him and flipped so he was walking by him as group kept walking
"We're in trouble Cap." Spider-man whispered when he landed Steve just raised an eyebrow but the young man continued "I get this feeling we are surrounded and being watched." Spider-man said he didn't know what he meant by that but now that he was thinking about it something did feel a little off.
"Keep a look out and be ready for anything," Steve ordered. Spider-man nodded only a second later tackled him as the place he was just standing exploded in white light. The serpent society came from the shadows surrounding them Spider-Man helped fight them off while protecting everyone. Later after the whole thing on the front page of the daily bugle, the headline read 'Captain America saves the day from Spider-man and the serpent society.'
Steve always went to the gym to beat out his frustrations on the punching bag. Often he beat on the bag to forget the war to forget everyone he lost to forget how lost in the world he was. But tonight, Steve wasn't beating up the punching bag to forget the war, or how the world had barely improved he was trying to forget about Spider-man. He didn't agree with Fury's methods most of the time he wasn't even sure if going after Spider-Man was the right thing to do. He knows there was a reason that if Spider-man became a threat it was better for everyone if they knew how to take him down if the time came. He thought it was unlikely for Spider-Man to turn to the dark side after all this time but he also knew everyone had a breaking point and could turn against people he wanted to protect. He also knew if the Avengers didn't get the information SHIELD or the council needed they would send someone who would, someone who didn't care how they got the information or who got hurt in the process.
He had a duty not only to the world and the Avengers but to Spider-man the sooner they got this done the sooner Spider-man could be protected and possibly have a spot on the team. He might not like it but they needed to be more prepared for the next time they saw spider-man.
Spider-Man
Ring!
Peter woke to his phone ringing he groaned and waited until it went to voice mail only for the phone to start ringing again groaning again Peter rolled over only to remember he was in his hammock a little too late. He crashed on the concrete floor followed by another groan.
"Alright, alright" he said to himself and webbed his phone to answer only to hear the ringing continued muttering to himself he put down his phone and picked up his Spider-Man line "spider-man here." He answered lazy getting back to his feet
"Peter are you alright?" came Matt's worried voice on the other end of the line
"Yeah I'm fine why wouldn't I be?"
"I heard what happened last night did the Avengers really attack you?" he asked. the memories from last night came flooding back
Pater sighed "yeah, yeah they did but I'm okay nothing a night's rest didn't heal. wait how did you find out about it?" He said quietly
"It's on the news." Peter quickly tuned on the News, on one of his computers screen J. Jonah Jameson yelling at him as usual, there was a video shot by a bystander and everything he groaned as this seemed to light a fire on the conspiracy of hero vs villain again.
"Do you know why they attacked you?" Matt asked before he could answer he heard Foggy in the background
"Oh my gosh are you talking with Spider-Man is he okay tell him he is a badass for taking on the Avengers, Spider-Man you are a total badass you beat the Avengers."
"Foggy please" he heard Matt sighed Peter smiled
"Tell Foggy thanks and as for your question they were after my identity they wanted to take me somewhere to be questioned it seems SHIELD set them." Peter sighed
"what's SHIELD?" Foggy voiced only now it was louder so Matt much of put him on speaker
"a secret or not so secret organization tasked to keeping the peace in these superhuman times," Peter answered
"Does that mean they could be coming for you too Matt?" Foggy voice became worried for his best friend's safety
"I don't get as much news coverage as Spidey and I might not seem as a superhuman to the Avengers." Matt spoke on the phone he was right in that it worried Peter too if the Avengers were going after all Vigilantes or if it was just him. As much as it freaked him out he hoped they were only after him. Not a lot of people knew about daredevils' powers so to most people he was just an awesome martial arts ninja dude in a red costume taking out bad guys. "Spider-man you still there?" Matt asked
"Yeah, I'm here just thinking." Peter sighed "They are probably going to come after me again and they are probably going to be more prepared so I need to be prepared too." Peter said he didn't think he could take on the Avengers a second time his best hope would probably be to just evade them until they feel he isn't worth their time
"I think you should lay low." Matt suggested
"I agree I don't know if it is a good idea to start a war with the freaken Avengers." Foggy shouted
"I am not starting a war and I can't lay low forever as soon as I pop up they would be on my tail again." Peter sighed "but I think it would be a good idea if you laid low just in case they are after all vigilantes and I will stay out of Hell's kitchen for a while until this cools down."
"I don't like the idea of you trying to do this alone," Matt said making Peter roll his eyes usually when people realize Spider-man is just a kid they tended to act a little protective. That was one of the reasons he fought so hard to stress 'Man' in Spider-Man, not Spider-teen.
"Spider-Man is right Matt he is trying to protect you let the big boys straighten this out." Peter smiled at Foggy thought he was one of the big boys but he was still in high school, good thing Matt was the only one who knew his age and his real identity. "But Matt is also right you need to be careful the Avengers are no joke." He spoke he heard Matt grumbling in the background he didn't catch the little argument they were having
"don't worry I will come up with a plan and hopefully keep my identity intact"
"I don't like this, still call if you get in over your head," Matt said before hanging up Peter looked at the phone he was up against the Avengers he was already in way over his head. He also had no intention of getting Matt involved in this he was the only one who knew his secret and the last person in his life that he wanted to protect with Foggy and Matt's other friends of course. He didn't want Matt to lose his best friend like he had.
He sighed last night had freaked him out he had stayed up trying to figure out why the Avengers decided to come after him now. If the Avengers were coming after all vigilantes he was going to try his best to protect Matt as well as keep the Avengers focused on him and hopefully this will just blow over.
Luckily it was Saturday so he had time to think of a plan and well be more prepared to avoid the Avengers for as long as possible. He turned off the news not wanting to hear how this was all his fault and have Jameson praise the Avengers for going after him. Sitting down at the desk staring at the screens trying to think of what he should do.
"To be prepared you have to know who you are up against." He said to himself trying to sound wise from a paraphrased passage from the book 'Art of War'.
He's hacked into SHIELD multiple times in the past messing with the system and leaving weird and funny messages. Then hacking the cameras to find out that everyone blamed Tony. at first he only hacked into SHIELD to find information about Spider-Man and himself he would often delete any data the SHIELD little security system picked up that could lead back to Spider-Mans identity to Peter Parker. he had also hacked into Starks's system too finding information that could help him find a bad guys or to see what the Avengers had on him.
It was easy to bypass the firewall and the codes in place. Having fought against Jarvis before which wasn't easy but after beating him the first time he had built a back door into Starks's systems so it only took him a few seconds to piggyback on the systems and assess the cameras, it is what he saw made him frown. It looked like Stark and Dr. Banner two of his scientific idols were going through the sighting of Spider-man turning on the sound and found out he was right they were trying to figure out his identity. That made him nervous he had always been careful to cover his tracks so people couldn't trace spider-Man to his loved ones but he wasn't the most careful in the beginning and when he had lost Aunt May for a little while he wasn't as careful because he didn't have anyone to protect anymore. He hoped that these two Avengers didn't find any information that he missed or figured out a different connection and showed up at his school or something.
The other Avengers looked to be doing their own thing at the moment he saw Falcon working on his suit, making Peter grimace; he felt a little bad about destroying the guy's suit but in his defense, he didn't want to be taken any higher than the stratosphere and he had no inclination to test how long he would stay conscious when there was no more oxygen and the cold of space.
Peter moved the video feed off to another screen and began going through Starks files that they had on his alter ego, on one hand trying to figure out why they were after him now after almost four years of being the web head.
It looked like they were drawing information from outside sources people he saved or sighting of him swinging around the city. Then he went into looking at the Avengers files he did feel a little bad about this but he needed to be prepared. He had seen what the Avengers were capable of on tv when they were saving the world and when he had teamed up with them. He knew when the Avengers came after him again they would not underestimate him a second time.
Peter looked up the new members on the Avengers he didn't know. Peter was glad Tony stark kept good notes on his teammates within an hour he knew everyone their abilities, the specs for their tech, he knew their weaknesses from watching videos of them training and the video files of some of their missions, and he knew how they worked as a team.
There were a couple of Avengers he did not want to tangle with Thor being the literal god of thunder with his magic lightning hammer. The Hulk being another not wanting to test how much his super-human durability would last in a fight with the Hulk. The last one being Black panther a new member on the team also the king of Wakanda. He got excited reading about his awesome vibranium tech but also nervous as Stark didn't have much on the weakness of this hero or much about fighting styles. Luckily it seemed the only one present out of those three was the Hulk aka Dr. Banner. He didn't think the Avengers would be desperate enough to have the Hulk come out to play just to get information out of him and the other two being royalty and all were probably in their respective kingdoms doing whatever superhero royalty did when not saving the world.
After that he went through SHIELD trying to find out as much information as he could but that didn't give him as much information as he hoped. Peter looked at the clock seeing that it was already almost noon he rubbed his eyes and thought it would be good time to go out for patrol at least for a little while. While he was at he maybe pick up some food.
He was hungry all the time, he hated having such a fast metabolism when he was a fifteen-year-old orphan and doesn't really have a job or a steady home. Sure, his lair/cave thing was his home and it worked but he didn't think child services would agree. As for the money he was working on it he would sell some inventions he made and he kept the patens for everything so that brought in some money and he did actually still sell pictures to the bugle but he did it anonymous so no one can tie the only good pictures of heroes back to him pulse he didn't do it as often enough to create a pattern.
Putting on his suit he headed out hoping the Avengers would stay away for the day…
Ture to Parker luck that didn't happen. At every crime scene leaving or coming he saw an Avenger. Spider-Man frowned behind his mask the Avengers were making it more difficult than usual to fight bad guys it was bad enough to avoid some of the cops that loved to shoot at him but the Avengers.
He beat his all-time recorded for how fast he would take out thugs and melting back into the shadows. He was silent watching as captain American ran by looking around at the webbed-up car and the car thieves in his web. He tried to hear what the good captain was saying on his com. When he felt the coast was clear he would make his escape.
Another time he had just fought the enforces without shocker (since he was still in prison). ricochet and OX weren't much of a challenge anymore but after he was thrown into a wall by ricochet and OX tossed a large piece of concrete on him he finished the fight just intime for Falcon to come swoping in, obviously still a little mad that his other suit was damaged. Falcon chased Spider-man for a while through the city with him dodging very sharp feathers Falcon fired at him. One of the feathers nicked his arm but he wasn't injured enough to slow him down. he just barely managed to lose Falcon by dropping down into the sewers.
"Not the most heroic exit." Spider-Man breathed rubbing his sore ribs from getting hit by a car and then crashing into the wall. He webbed up his arm and slumped his way through the sewers.
He had dodged Widow and Winter solider a few times as well making sure he was out of sight. Making sure he left the crime scene or a rescue as fast as he could. Even if he got injured he pushed his body to the limits to make sure he wasn't caught to make sure he wasn't being followed to make sure he was safe.
This went on for about a week or two and it was exhausting. Peter plopped down in his web hammock staring up at the ceiling his body hurt from the last encounter an apartment fire then making a quick escape through a burring roof before Iron-Man showed up.
Peter groaned as he rolled over his injures screaming in protest
He thought this was a good plan at the time 'avoid the Avengers until they gave up'. But they didn't seem to be giving up any time soon in fact it seemed like they were closing in. their response time becoming faster. It was making it harder and harder to protect, save people and stop the bad guys. If this kept going as it was he was either going to get caught and taken away or someone was going to get hurt. Namely him…
Peter frowned why couldn't the Avengers see that all he wanted to do was help that has been all he has ever trying to do. He thought he had done a lot of good for this city trying to keep families from being torn apart like his was. He saved this city time and time again fought Supervillains every other day, stopped every small crime he came a crossed even helped stop bullying when he came a crossed it. so why? Why were they hunting him why were they so desperate for his identity now? Peter had searched through all the files but none of them showed new information none of it explained why the Avengers were after him. that in itself was frustrating.
Peter closed his eyes finally giving in to the pain and his body calling out for sleep. His head hurt from all the thoughts he tried to pushed down as the darkness claimed him.
Sadly, even in his dreams, he didn't find peace. The faces of those he had lost those that he had failed either as Spider-man or Peter Parker flashed in his mind the constant cacophony of cries for help the angry shouts on how he failed filled the darkness.
