A/N: I did a slight editing to this chapter. There was a bit where I got distracted and it showed lol
Chapter thirteen: Whoa now! You got pass who again? And what's with this 'Child' everyone speaks of here?
"We got to go!" Zelgadis shoved both Gourry and I forward as Proserpina took off speeding behind us. Dark energy form where we once stood, withering across the ground as I searched for the one he wanted the most. "It saddens me that you choose to flee." The voice taunted as we wind our way though the multitudes of spiraling icicles and menacing tentacles of evil. "In fact, I'm feeling rather generous today. I'll spare your lives if you leave the girl behind."
"Like hell we are!" I wasn't going to leave anyone, especially against their will to any of the Demon Lords, not even the fearsome evil that was sealed in all of that ice. I could see that man's body glow with an ominous crimson energy, and so was Proserpina.
"He's even nastier then your little buddy." She comment, and it took a minute to catch on to whom she was speaking of; Xelloss! Well yeah. He's just a subordinate created by one of the demon lords, while this guy in just a fraction of one of the greater evils that exist in this universe. Nothing compare to the monster that remain contain in a divine spell for the sake of good over there! We stayed on our feet as we darted around, avoiding the attempts of the Demon king attacks at more dark energy lash about.
"Not today, Satan!' Proserpina yelled as she dodge a dark bough that was bolting to her direction. Another came after her, and she rolled as a few more followed in pursuit. Meanwhile a ball of energy was forming, it was released, hurling straight to Gourry, Zelgadis and I! "Gah!" I jumped as hard as my legs could as quickly as possible. I'm glad I wear this mantle, because if I wasn't, I would have shattered my shoulder from the impact that left me slightly airborne. When I landed on it, it left a decent size dent in the metal. Eh nothing a Black Smith can fix! I'm a bit more concerned with the now worked up Demon King who apparently insists that Proserpina stays, or we all die. He attacked everyone, but not as much as he was focus in on her.
"This will be easy if you just stay still." He was growing infuriated by the minute. "I never understand why you humans insist on running instead of facing your demise like true heroes would." I know that was his way of calling us cowards, but in reality, this was the only resort we had if we wanted to stay alive, and I think that is what the four of us were on board with. Big words for a demon king who is aware of the mortals before him. Proserpina manages to hop near where I stood, her eyes burned with determination. "I got a plan, Lina." She said as she unzipped her coat and slides it off. Underneath where here choker was, had began to increase in size. It was growing. I stared at it as it pulsed with a faint light along with her heavy panting. She tossed her jacket at me, which I caught. More of the armor was starting to spread out, covering her shoulders, and traveling down pass her collar bone. "Alright listen up. We may have to give in to the bait of this guy's request." My eyes went wide. Are you nuts? That's even more risky then being here in the first place. "Come on. Hear me out." Her voice was smooth and confident. I don't know how someone like her can just keep their cool while everyone here is battling for their lives! "I have a trick up my sleeve." She winked. "I just have to time it perfectly. Look!" She dodged an attack and rejoins my side. "You guys don't deserve to die, at least hear me out." Alright! I'm all ears. I listen, and even though the plan sounded a bit sketchy, it may actually work like she said. She stopped moving and so did I.
"Lina!" Gourry called out as he and Zelgadis fought off shadowy tentacles that had swarmed around them. "Proserpina! What are you two doing?"
I hope this works. Proserpina looked at me and I nodded to let her know that I was ready for this; she then cupped her hands around her mouth.
"Yoohoo!" She cheered. "Hey Demon King!" The dark extension came to a halt from the thrashing, and the dark energy was all focus on her. "Remember when you said that if I choose to stay, you would spare my friends?" There was a maniacal laughter that followed her question. "Such a funny girl, you are. Yes I did say that I'll spare their lives, but that was for the moment." One of the tentacles suddenly twitch before it came crashing down on both Zelgadis and Gourry. The two men groan as it lay still on top of them. "I might've changed my mind. Being that you took too long to decide and toy around."
"Is there any way I can convince you?" The tentacle slowly lifted itself off of the guys; Gourry rolled over and cough as Zel remain immobile. I began to panic more as Proserpina started bribing with the Demon King. Please don't do this. I internal plead to her, hoping she could somehow pick up on it. Don't do this to yourself.
"Hm." Everything pauses while Lei Magnus thought to himself. "Perhaps there is something that may sway me…" Oh great, that never something good to hear, especially from a bad guy like him! Gourry assist Zelgadis to his feet, the blue chimera seem to be a bit in a daze, but his senses were somewhat there to follow what was going on. "Don't do it." He coughed. "Gourry told me! Don't you sell yourself out already!-"A crack lashed out and Lei released a nasty projectile that was heading towards Zel. "Silence, Mortal!" Magnus bellow as the rocks around us trembled. In a blinding flash of light, the projectile was deflected. Proserpina stood in front of both Gourry and Zelgadis; more of the armor had spread itself out. It had work its way across her ribs and forearms, and pulsating light more than before. "Wow!" Both Gourry and Zelgadis were wide eyed as they finally noticed the armor. "So that's what it does when you feel danger."
"Gourry." Zelgadis stare blankly at him. "I don't think this is the time for obvious comments."
"So you spoke of swaying my interest to spare your friends." Lei' voice boomed at Proserpina. "What kind of obligations do you have in mind?"
"Well I dunno." She spoke as if she was dealing with a salesman and not one of the DEVILS! "Maybe I was considering letting you destroy me anyway you like." The demon made a noise out of sheer delight. "Is that so?" He cooed, but shortly after that, an opening before us appeared from nowhere. I turn to Proserpina, who made eye contact with me. We both nodded as I ushered the guys out with me.
"Lina what are we doing?" Zelgadis hissed as he regains his strength to keep pace with us. "Why are we doing this?" I could tell there was more than just a part of him that didn't want to just leave her behind, but the girl said she had a plan, and I really want to live. I'm sure Gourry does, even though he would send me a glare here and there.
"Why don't you tell me more?" She was really buying some time for us. I sped up my stride as I peek around my shoulder watching her talk to the demonic terror sealed in ice.
"Lina! There has to be another way." Zel was adamant of me rethinking this and at the last minute as well. We are so close to the door, and you want to rethink this. Did you not hear the guy and what he demanded; her! Not us, and there is no other way unless whatever she has arrange goes perfectly. "I'm sorry Zel." I threw my hands up in defense. "This is what she wanted."
"Yet we are just going to willing walk away?" He tone was unnerving. "What if her plan doesn't work?"
"Why are you so worried about it?" I was the first to step over the threshold, with Gourry right behind me. His eye shot Proserpina a determined work as he simply bowed his head at her. Zelgadis was last; he was hesitating to cross over at first. Once he was through, the door started to faded.
Here it goes! I could feel my heart raced as more and more of the doorway narrowed out. I almost doubted her as well, as I saw her glimpse at us before everything blurred out. Next thing I knew there was a gust of gale like winds, and Proserpina had bolt and skidded half way across the corridor.
"That was such a close call." She said as she lies on the cold floor, her chest heaving as she closed her eyes. "I almost didn't make it."
"How did you even manage to pull that off?!" Zelgadis orbs were large as he came up to Proserpina. She quietly chuckle. "I just blew hot his up his skirt and distracted him long enough to cast the Talaria."
"The what?" Alright so that's the one where she summons that energy and makes them into wings, and then you put them on your boots and they make you go at god speed. So she allow the Demon King to distraction his own self long enough to make him feel like he was giving us time to escape, while she was planning hers. Right in front of him as well and slipped away. I smirked to myself as I wondered how long it took him to realize that she wasn't standing there anymore as the portal completely closed. You know what? That doesn't matter, what is important was she made it, and we got out safely. That's an odd chance to have against those kinds of odds, yet she played it out gracefully. Not many people can sneak pass the Lei Magnus and live to tell the tale.
I toss back her coat, which she hastily covered up the exposed part of her shoulders. "At least it wasn't fully activated." So the armor does destroy clothing, and if she was in any more danger, she would not have much of shirt left I image. It was an impressive sight to see it take form like that. It had already resume its usual form and rested back around the base of her neck. We took no moment to lose as we haul away from that area as quickly as our now exhausted legs could carry us. Lei Magnus definitely had us on our toes back there, and all that invading we did does wear you out as fighting does, if not more. You're running for your life, there a type of energy that gets sapped away. I felt mines slipping away with each step I took.
"Guys." I mumbled and I felt my legs give in as everything around me turns black.
There was this twisting and turning of darkness I could feel that surrounded me, but the weird part about it that it wasn't cold or anything. It didn't mean that I was dead, but instead I just wasn't conscience. Like I know I'm knocked out. I passed out, and woke up here.
"Hello?" Like anyone was going to response. I shifted around awkwardly in the dark and silence. I didn't want to stand here nor did I want to start wondering off on my own. Before I even decided on which, a red door appear, and a man stepped out. He was an average looking man, with a matching built. He sported a white tuxedo like suit (Not the expensive kind, this guy went a little cheap at that.) He wore a pair of thick glasses, which made his blood red irises appear larger. His hair was dark, and was styled in a comb over. He shook his head as he readjusts his specs. "Oh." He said in a soft voice. "You're the one the Child ran off with…"
"The child…?" I tilted my head; I was baffled by this crazy talk. First off sir, would you be so kind to spare an introduction of both you and yourself instead of being some awkward creep? "Hey! Sir?!" He looked at me and blinked. "Yes?"
"Do you know the way out of here?" He just raised an eyebrow at me. "Look I need to get back to earth with my friends…"
"Friends?" He muttered. "I'm not quite sure. That is something that needs to be discussed with L-sama."
"L-sama?" I repeated. Who was that? Is that their boss or something? "Yes." The man said without wasting a second. "You may have to wait a moment. For you see, they are rather busy with everything that is going on." He invited me though the doorway, and inside was a small size lobby, with a handful of chairs propped to the wall. "Please have a seat while you wait. Someone will be shortly to assist you." There was no door in this room, other than the one that lead the way back out into the strange darkness. He turned his back to me; his suit had a huge S on it. What was that suppose to mean? He then walked and phased thought the other side, right thought the freaking wall! I don't think I can do that… Now, don't get it twisted, I know I can't phase through a wall like that. I placed my hand on the wall where the man disappeared into, finding it solid and hard to the touch. I gritted my teeth as I took a seat and waited, and waited. It felt like forever as moments passed, and eventually I guess you can say that I got bored and crafted me a sweet bench out of all the chairs. I went to recline back on my crafted device, letting out a long sigh as I let every muscle in my tire body relax. I give it five minutes, maybe six, before I heard a sharp woman's voice call out.
"Sweetie?" She said. Her voice was smooth and dark; not quite like a villain, but you couldn't help to recognize some kind of power behind it. I opened my eyes slowly, and was greeted by a sight of a large woman, the tallest I've ever seen, crouched over the bench of chairs. She had long wispy dark hair, a set of star barrettes pinned to the side. Her eyes were dark like twilight, and so was her hair. Her skin was faint silver, and she wore a saffron sundress that gave her some contrast. She was beautiful, like on a goddess level of beauty at that.
"Hi," I said sheepishly as I gingerly sat up, acknowledging the woman's presence. "I apologize if you have been waiting for some time-"She eyed my creation. "-But I am here to assist you." I couldn't help but to smile, there was this feeling about her. Like if she was my mother, but she wasn't. Yet at the same time, there was this strange, strong familiar feeling. As if I knew her my whole life. Weird. I got to my feet, and realize she stood at a height that was like if another version of me stood on my shoulders.
"Is there a problem?" I shook myself from whatever trance I seem to have slipped into. "No ma'am." I said this instead of asking who she was. I felt like I should of known, but I don't. At least she didn't seem offended by my staring. She just stood there, with her arms gently folded. "Well then. Whenever you are ready, we can proceed to the next destination." I've already had the inclination that she knew how to work this place, like the jerk before, but the way she did was totally different then how he did it. He just went thought the wall like it wasn't there, yet this madam makes a door. She then grabs a set of keys and unlocks it, it swings open fluidly. I walk with her and see a white, narrow hallway with a series of doors that continue until forever.
"What is this place?" I whispered out loud, which the big lady heard me. She hummed to herself before she responds to my question. "Think of it as like an office of some sort." So an office, if that's the case then would you mind sharing me who you are next? Before I had a chance to open my mouth, she had already beaten me to it.
"I am known as many things, but a mother to all." She gaze at me and beamed, in the same manner that my dad would. "I have many names, but you may call me Enodia." I'm starting to believe that this woman may be able to read thoughts, so I better watch what I think…
"Oh no. Feel free to think whatever." She waved her hand in dismissal. "I've been around for eons. There is nothing that offends me."
"Ms. Enodia?" I felt a shiver saying the name for the first time. I also sounded like Amelia saying that. "Where are you taking me?"
"You are heading to the quarters of L-sama." We stopped at a door, numbered six hundred and sixty six. The rings of keys clank and jiggle as she fumbles for the right one. The lock clicks and we both entered the room. Inside was a bright cream walls, with idyllic paintings set about. The floor was a dark green, pushy to the step material. It felt squishy underneath my feet. The man from earlier stood in front of a huge desk, the wood was an elegant mahogany. The light reflected off of it as well made our presence known as we stand along with the jerk. I peep at him for a moment; he shifted when he felt my gaze, turning his head as I looked away.
"More People are here." He said affirmatively as his posture stiffens. "It's fair seeing you as well, Shabby." Enodia causally said as she barely batted an eye at him. He quietly held his hands as he watched the back of an oversize chair that was turned from us. There was a large L in silver embodied on the top. On the wall behind were an assortment of various weapons, including that of a paddle and a shove. Whoever sat in that chair obviously did not want to be bother, and was smoking a cigarette.
"Also your mother is here." With that the figured that sat in the chair coughed as they may have choked on some smoke. "She's what?" They spat as they spun the chair around, revealing a slender blonde, with long locks of golden hair, and vivid blue eyes that looked like pools of ocean water. The woman wore a simple black sleeveless dress, and had on long matching gloves that stopped passed the elbows. "Well I'll be. You weren't lying…" She muttered as she took another drag from her cigarette before putting it out. She looks at the jerk first, scoffed and rolled her eyes. "I don't want to talk to you." Oof! That was cold! He bowed in a snobbish manner before squaring his shoulders as he left the space. The door slammed and I blinked and few times just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. Someone slap me and wake me out of this!
"Hi Luci!' Enodia said in a rather cheery tone. Like how my mom would of sounded if I was able to see them! "How is it going, dear?"
"What's the meaning of this?' The woman threw a clad hand out at me as Enodia gently squeezed my shoulder. "This girl was discovered standing in the Dark a bit ago. She needs to be sent home."
"Of course, send her back." The woman who Enodia called Luci sighed heavy as she dug her fingers threw her hair. "Too bad she wasn't the right one that was supposed to be here! She's not the Child!"
"Obtaining a soul from the physical is not a simple task." The dark haired woman held up a digit to silence the other woman. Luci stared at who was called her mother (From going off by what the jerk said to her before she angrily turned around) before she slammed her hand hard on the shiny face of the desk. "Idiots!" She shouted. "I give them one job and they can't even pull it off right!"
"May I suggest that next time you have someone who is more aware of the targets soul before you snatch somebody…?" Enodia muttered as she placed her palms together. The blonde stared at her for a moment as her face slightly twitched.
"Then next time, why not you do it, Mother?" Enodia heavily sighed as she bowed her head. "I would, if I had the slightest influence in that world."
"What does that have to do with retrieving the Child then?" Who is this child that keeps being mentioned? And brought me here in the first place? It would be nice to have an idea of what was going here, in this place Enodia's claimed to be an office, but it felt more chaotic then organize. I stood there, feeling rather both useless and awkward as the two women argue about what to do with me.
"Just send her back, Luci." Enodia implored. "You know what happens to mortals when they are away for too long." Oh no! I didn't like the way that sounded at all. I look at Luci with a pleading look; she makes eye contact with me before narrowing her eyes into slits. "Wait a minute…" She whispered as she lean in closer to my face.
"Oh holy Had!" She exclaimed as she made a grab for Enodia's arm. "I may know this girl!"
"Is that so?" Enodia shifted her eyes at me, then to Luci, and back to me. "Care to elaborate?"
"Let's just say this was the one who brought me into the tangible for a brief moment." I stared at her for the longest time; is it even possible that this woman is the Lord of Nightmares?
What the hell is going on? I am so confused! There is no way… That this ordinary woman is the supreme creator of the four worlds? I really was lost on the lack of explanation going on here, other than the two of them discussing about "sending me back" and much more concerns about the "child's whereabouts. This made me wish that someone like Proserpina or Zelgadis was here; maybe they would have more of a clue of what was going on than me. I sighed as I grew impatience; I was being more inclined on going back home then anything at this moment. I guess in some cases, wishes do come true right away.
"You're Lina Inverse, right?" Enodia asked and I slowly nodded. How could you know my name? She did claimed that she was the mother of all, so I wouldn't put it pass he to have some kind of all knowing of everything single thing that is alive. I was in complete and utter awe of how she still just knows and I never introduced myself at all. "Alright Lina." Her hand felt warm on my shoulder as she ushered me with her, Luci left her desk, and followed behind. "If you just come with us, we can take to where we can fix this." We left the office space and return back into the hallway.
I guess they're going to take me back then. I really hope that is what they intend to do, and not some where sacrificial thing where they just dump me alive into some kind of being that consumes anything in sight, or throw me into the abyss, or give me as a offering to some kind of even darker lord then the one of Nightmares themselves. We approached another door, one which numbers were in the thousands. We entered though the door, into a room that barely had anything, but one freaking chair.
"Am I supposed to sit down?" I peep at both women, whom seem to be signaling me to do so. Great. Now I get to be the first one in some weird chair game… My legs wobbled as I sat down onto the smooth, wooden surface. I heaved out a deep breath as I relaxed my posture.
"Are you ready dear?" Honestly Enodia, I've been ready since the moment I got here. I bobbed my head in a 'Yes', swallowing hard as both Luci's and her hands glowed a bright white.
"Lina…" Gourry sang into the unconscious red haired face as his arms cradle her upper body against his. "Lina…You gotta wake up."
"Gourry I don't think that is still going to work." Zelgadis snapped as the side of his face twitched. He swears that Gourry has been trying to rouse Lina up for at least over an hour. "Give it a break and let her wake on her own." The blond just stared at the blue chimera, blinking a few times. His expression was then blank, before he resume back to stirring Lina.
"Come on." He gently nudged her. "You got to get up. We need to get out of this place." Zelgadis scoffed as he slumped back again the stone wall. Proserpina, who sat crossed leg, not too far from the three, smoked a joint to herself as she watched Gourry with concern eyes. "I'm getting tired of carrying you."
"I still don't think she drained herself." She stated out loud. That was a theory that mostly Zelgadis and Proserpina came up with, as well as that of something pertaining to her case of fainting so suddenly.
"I think something took her…" He raised a brow at her. "Back at this again?" Her eyes darted at him as she flicks some ash. "I guess. It's more of a gut feeling."
It's more of the way that Lina collapse, the way how she appeared fine, even after making a mad dash away from one of the demon lords, the infamous Lei Magnus. Only after moments after the escape, Lina was rendered unconscious; leaving the three to take turns carrying her as they weave they way though a series of tunnels. Proserpina insisted on question Lina's state the duration of her toting the knocked out girl.
"It just looked like something took her out of her body." An ember zipped thought he dark space as she toss the remains of the joint aside. "It was like she was snatched right out."
"It just looked like she fainted to me." Zelgadis was firmed in his opinion, yet his didn't quite disagree with the other's. He assumed it had to be the way how Lina just fall without much of a word may be why the other chimera was so inclined on the thought that some supernatural essence yanks Lina from the spot. He has seen something similar within the confrontation of Lord Fibrizo; the difference was that the people that he observed were already that of the deceased. Lina was not dead, for she still had a steady pulse when Proserpina checked. She was just unresponsive, and unanimated. She did have a dead weight to her as the three had mention to each other as they passed her around to conserve energy. The plan was efficient, until Gourry undergo fatigue from the fast pace the stride as they went as far as they could away; pending to the place they thought was the safest.
The blinding light was all I could remember as the sensation of being lifted back into a familiar warm place over come my senses. I could hear a soft murmured of distance voices, followed by a man's voice calling out to me. I tried to move, but every limb and ounce of felt like lead. I could not even speak. As things cleared up, I recognized the voices, and that of Gourry, who was holding me.
"Hey!" Yes I'm here- wait! Not so rough! What are you doing? Gourry was starting to become impatience, and began to shake Lina. "Wake. Up!" He shook her harder. "Come on! Get the hell up!" His shaking got more rigid, but I felt the life creep back into my arms and legs.
"WELL YOU STOPPED SHAKING ME!" He froze as he stared at me in shock. I felt like if he kept shaking me, he may knock something important loose, and I need all the brain power necessary for a sorceress of my caliber. "Guys! She's alive!" He gasped as he nearly squeezed the life out of me. I could feel my ribs cracking from the muscles in his arms, which are bigger then my thighs… I've never really realize just how huge he was until now.
"Gourry!' I gagged as I struggled for air. "Let me go. I need to breathe."
"Yeah we don't need her to pass out again." Proserpina spoke as both she and Zel seem relieved to see me at my usual functioning state. They fill me in on how much they have cover of this ruin, and still on the search for an exit of some type. At least they had gotten us this far, but never far away from possible danger.
"Look like we may have to keep going." Zelgadis peered into the wavering walkway that twisted and turned like a withering serpent. "Or at least get to a point to make an exit." The good thing about him is that he is always ahead with a plan B, or so it seems. For all I know, that could be plan Z or he was just getting impatience with this labyrinth like ruin we seem to be stuck in for hours. Does he even have a idea of where we are going?
"Zel!" I was starting to get a headache. We have the egg and we slipped away from the Demon King. "Do you even know what direction we are in?" The chimera pause his motion, and dug into his pocket. He snatches out the compass, and opens it. Its needle twirls about in a clockwise circle, not even stopping. "Your guess is as good as mines." He said as he shoves it back. It looks like we are going to have to continue though this winding madness until we reached a room large enough to attempt to bust out of here. Finally, after what seem like eternity of loops and turns, we came into a grand space similar to the area before. With the exception that the room was bare, save for the lone red, glaring eye that was painted on the wall across the entrance. It was in a same fashion the previous painting, more so warning that we encounter earlier prior to the chamber where Lei Magnus was sealed. Maybe this one was trying to say that it was watching us…
Zelgadis was already with the intentions of busting out of here; he moved off to the side and began to chant. I watched as an indigo energy glowed off his form as he finished the enchantment.
"Bram Gash!' He bellowed as tiny arrowed shaped heads formed from the air and crashed into the wall. Disappointment settled as the dust cleared, the spell did not work.
"Dammit!' He swore as he tried again with another one. More curses flowed from his mouth as the same occurred as it did with the first.
"Hey. Let me try." Red energy glowed as I chanted the verses for the Dam Brass. I had high hopes that a different spell like this would of done the trick, but I found myself swearing as well when the red flash went off, and nothing happened.
"There could be a barrier of some sort here." Zelgadis eyes bounced as he scouted for anything that may seem to be something out of the ordinary that we failed to take note of before. Other then the eye, there wasn't really anything else.
"We can try to hit the eye?" That was my suggestion as we both agreed and made our way with a few strides in front of it. We return its stare as we both charged up with magical energy, performing the same spells as before, but at the same time. I clenched my fist as we waited for the air to clear; only to punch at the air when the painting was left unfazed. Well, there goes that!
Zel turned his head to Proserpina, who had sat down on the floor along with Gourry fumbling the chamber to her pistol. "Hey!' He called out as the both of them look at him. "You're a magic user. Maybe you can do something here since ours isn't working."
"That's a Maybe." She mutters as she rose to her feet. "Most of the stuff I know cases large scale damage. I'll give the blast a go though." He watched her with wide eyes as golden energy surround her as it gathered in her hands.
"Chaotic Blast!" The energy burst forth and smashed into the eye. The chamber shook violently as I went to my knees. Some of the stone from the ceiling broke from the structure and came crashing about, but nothing serious. It had a greater impact the combo that Zel and I threw previously, but it failed as well to break apart any of the stone.
"Damn." Proserpina snapped her fingers. "So much for that." I don't think she is going to attempt anything else, after all she did say that what she knows… causes damage on a larger scale. Gourry sat with his chin in his knees, appearing to be in a depressive state.
"I feel useless there." He mumbled to himself as he glances at his sword. "I don't think throwing this will do anything."
"It's worth a shot." I bent down towards him so my face was near his. "It's better than doing nothing." His eyes flashed with a sparkle of hope, and he got up with such vigor and marched towards the eye. He unsheathes his blade and held it above his hand, launching his arm back as if he was using a spear. It went straight for the black pupil, hitting it with a loud clank. The sword stood there for a moment, before braking in half and falling to the floor below. Gourry shrieked as he raced to his weapon.
"Oh no!" He cried as he gathered the broken halves. The blond sobbed as he carefully unlocked the hilt apart from the half, leaving it with it counterpart. His usual happy go lucky appearance changed into that of melancholy one as he slowly trotted his way to us.
"Looks like I don't have a sword." His eyes gaze down as sadness settled in them. "What's a swordsman without his blade…?"
"If it gets to that point, I'll let you use mines." That was rather kind of Zel to say such to Gourry, and the other man glance at his, hope brightening his blue eyes as he brought himself to smile.
"I can always make me a new blade when we go through a town again." There was a clicked as Proserpina adjusted her gun before taking aim at the pupil. "It's better than doing nothing, right?"
"I don't think that's gonna work." Gourry mentioned as Proserpina steady herself. "So just save yourself from looking like a moron like I did," I would have laughed at that if the situation wasn't so dire. The idiot tells someone to stop from making themselves one. She ignores his suggestion and goes to fire the gun. A deafen noise fills the space as the three of us grabbed our ears. More noise fills the area as the walls begin to rumble as the area around the eye begins to glow. The floor shook as the chamber grew bright with light as the wall opened. We all stood there dumbfounded as our eyes adjust to the sight of the rocky coast of a shoreline.
"Seriously?" Zelgadis said lowly as we were greeted by a blast of cold and salty sea air. "Something simple like that is what opens it to begin with."
"We didn't know." Proserpina shrugged. "There wasn't a sign posted anywhere that side 'Shoot the target', Huh?"
At least it was figured out in a matter of times. I'm glad there are two other fully functioning brains around me, though Gourry does have his moments. Even his blade even snapped in half, at least he caught on and took the initiative to take on a simple feat like that to help out in any way he can.
"That's not fair." Gourry stomped ahead of us, his arms folded tightly around his chest. The three of us knotted our faces as we exchange glances to see who was going to ask him first.
"What's not fair?" Zel was the one to ask him. Gourry pouted even more as he dug his boot into the ground. "How come Proserpina was able to open the eye with her gun, but it broke my damn sword?" Oh wow and here I was thinking that you were over it. We all climbed cautiously over the jetties of rocks as I glanced around for any kind of familiar looking land mark that may give us a hint of where we are. There was a herd of dragons in the distance; some were in the water while others on land. A few took off into the air, perhaps to hunt. I'm gonna take a guess that we are residing at Dragon's Peak, which is directly north of the Kingdom Of Dils and the Empire of Lyzeille. The next beast was located south, somewhere on Wolf pack Island, which I'm in no rush for. We continue to scale the beach, which to the west, I could see the faint traces of what appeared to be Crimson town.
A/N: And that's a wrap for chapter thirteen! So as the story progresses, I realize that this is going to be quite the read so brace your selves, Spring is coming! (You thought I was going to say winter? That's so worn out. Spring has renewal energy, let's focus on that. It's great for creativity). This story may be looking around 25 or more chapters. This was something that was carefully placed and organizes as I rethought the story over and over, I just didn't realize that there was a lot going on in this tale, it went from what felt like a short story, to an epic arc. My imagination took off in a bang and so did this fan fiction.
Thank you for your views and for reading this. I mean a lot, and it encourages me to push out chapter faster.
