Chapter Nineteen: Deep in the levels of Castlevana!

"Now I see why she wants to change the both of you…" His voice trailed off as he climbed back up. A sickening smirk forms across his twisted face. "And I'll make sure she lives up to her wish!" Both Zelgadis and Proserpina exchange worried glances as they concluded that the countess has morbid plans with matching outcomes for the two of them.

"You know that is the last thing I really want to be." She stated as the blue chimera nodded in agreement. "I've recently gotten used to being this way. What give you all the inclination that I want to be more of a misfit?" Montreal glared at her as his eyes glowed furiously. "My plan is not to be change into something I can't revert back from, and I'm not going to give in to your boss bitch's plan."

Montreal glared at her as his fangs drawn out. "You will reconsider that once it's all done and over with. Trust me! I'm proof of that!" His attempt of a smile made both Zelgadis and Proserpina cringe.

"We need to do something with this dude. Do you have any ideas?" He thought to as many of those passed though his head. He tapped his finger on his chin, knowing that there wasn't that much time to ponder.

"We may have to be spontaneous with our tactics." His sword glow red as he enchanted it with an Astral Vine. "The less predictable we are, the more trouble this guy will have figuring out our next move." They swooped into opposite directions as Montreal staggered from where they once stood. A bolt of pure light zapped from Zelgadis' hand and struck the vampire's chest hard. It caused the man to crumple momentary, holding his chest as he heaved heavily. Proserpina landed nearby; heaving a ball of chaotic energy at the downed man. The smoked cleared and he was still kneeling, still gazing at them as his eye burned furiously. In a fury he leap forward, first appearing to be charging at a unnatural speed towards the blue chimera, but in the midst of his stride, he switches his direction. Now he was head on to Proserpina, would brought her palms together, voltage built as her hands pulled apart, and the rod from earlier was form again. Montreal let out a roar as he ran with all his might; he was merely feet away from the pearly woman before she let loose the lighting from her hands. There was a blinding flashed, flowed by a deafen crack that even caused Zelgadis to grasp his ears as it rumbled throughout the cell. The vampire screams as he held his face; blood profoundly leaked from between his fingers, and dripped onto the floor. Zelgadis seeing that Montreal incapable, seized the opportunity to run to the injury man, slicing at his arm. More crimson sprayed as Montreal's arm flail haplessly to the ground. With one eye gone and his arm as well, Montreal dropped to his knees. His arm twinge as the fingers twitched and tugged from the rocks it laid at.

I groan lowly as Amelia continue on and on about once we were done with all of this, she wanted to see if the people would allow her to stick around and "readjust their lives". What she means by that, is she wants to basically rewired the people's odd nightly routines and make them one with daytime again (Not that it was a problem, they were still flourishing; it's the vampires that were the problem).

"You know, Amelia," Gourry tilted his head as he bent over a tad just to make eye contact (Ha! She may be a bit taller than me, but she's still on the short side. I guess Naga got all the height). "That's not going to be easy, you know?"

The princess rests her hands on her hips and stared at the blond. "I'm aware of that Gourry." She flutters her lashes as she inhales. "I also need to reintroduce a system into the lives of those people so they can be with the rest of the world."

"Well what's wrong with how they live now?"

"They're oppressed Mr. Gourry!" Amelia waved her hands up in front of the blond full in an over exaggerating way. "The live their lives at night in fear of the attacks these monsters had causes for a couple of centuries. They deserve to have balance back in their lives again!"

"But they seem rather happy from what I can tell…" Oh gods Gourry! Are you really going to work her up at a time like this? We are on patrol; a constant lookout for wither friend or foe. Yet here I stride, listening in to the two you get into it…

"They can't be happy, Mr. Gourry!" she cried as she swirl herself around dramatically. "They just can't be! I know that they want to live like the rest of us!"

"I don't see a issues in how they live. All that needs to be done is to get rid of the vampire problem-"

"Mr. Gourry! But that's not only it-!"

Are you really getting into this at a place and time like this?! Guys! Should we not be making so much noise with this being an infested vampire terror? Um… Hello?! What part of SHUT UP does the two of you not understand?! At once Amelia and Gourry gazed at me, both doe eyed and innocent as they blinked in unison. Probably confused of my sudden outburst; I mean, we are in a survival situation here! Just like Proserpina stated before, but nope. Amelia always goes for the "Justice for the Greater Good' and Gourry is just….floating by like a lifeless log in a stream…or more like a jellyfish drifting in the current. He is there, but not there at the same time.

I sighed as the three of us continued ourselves in silence; it got really quiet a little too quickly for my taste. All the sound that was there was the shuffling of our feet as we stepped fluidly though this underground cavern. I took advantage of the current stillness; and strain my wars as I tried to hear out in the distance. I may not be as good as Zel, but my ears haven't failed me yet. There was an odd shuffling noise as if someone was darting off somewhere unseen. I extended my Lighting spell out a bit more, just to see if there was anything. My eyes than caught a faint glimpse of an edge of a tattered cloak.

"Someone's here…" I held up my arms to stop the other two, and we pause as everything around us became still.

"Lina…" Gourry hushed as his hand went to the hilt of his blade; his eyes bounced around as he scanned about, possibly seeing the same thing I had. "There is someone here."

I knew I wasn't seeing things; in minutes, one of the vampires from before; the one I nicknamed toothless, since both Amelia and Proserpina did quite the number on his pearly whites. He landed a few feet away from where we stood; flexing himself as he started toward us. Amelia's fist glowed with energy and so did mines.

"Looks like I finally get to have some fun with you…" He snickered as he advance rapidly from his place; Amelia swing in full on with her Visfarank and I hit him with a fire ball. Gourry lay low until the smoke cleared, then charged after the man, slicing though the nape of his hood where his head would have been.

What should have been a successful decapitation was a decoy; the cloak slumped over Gourry, temporary disabling him as some skinny guy made a dash towards him. This dude was a bit on the runty side, and possibility malnourishment, or stunted from inbreeding (You never with people). No wait, I stand corrected; it was Toothless, and what he really looked like under that cloak. For a moment there, he sorta resembles the first mate from the boat as well, except his hair was shaven close to his scalp, and he wasn't as lively looking as he was then. The man grasps his hand tightly around the blond' arm, spinning him around until he was able to pinned him down. I saw the glint in his eyes; I knew that look from anywhere, and even if his fangs weren't as pointy; he could still bite down, but I image what was left of his teeth would do a gruesome number to Gourry' flesh! I charged after him with Amelia at my side. My lips moved as I chanted the pervious spell from earlier; there was a growing light, and the vampire froze mid pose as he gaze at the orb with widen eyes.

I want to say it worked, but it didn't go as plan as I thought. Something is wrong. It went well before the countess dropped us here…What is going on… I froze in bewilderment as I came to the realization that my magic was fading… But how...It took a moment before I remember something rather embarrassing; it appeared that I started time of the month and such great timing for a thing like that to happen, especially when I need my ability to spell cast! I felt myself succumb into a meltdown as I slumped to my knees… Toothless sniffed the air as he let go of Gourry.

"Ms. Lina!" The princess grabbed my shoulders as she look in my face with a strong concern. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"I smell something interesting?" Are you telling me, that this sicko right here can tell the difference by scent? There was this unnerving feeling as it seems that a bloodsucking fiend would know before anyone else did…

"Are you…" He took a sharp intake and smacks his lips. "…On your period-"I smacked him squared in his face before the last of that sentence was finished with the bottom of my boot! The imprint was left on it as the vampire fainted to the side. Amelia gasped as Gourry gathered himself up.

"What's going on?" He said in a daze as he intently stared at me, blinking a few times before he too caught on.

"Oh no..." He whispered softly as the princess lead in closer to hear him. "It's that time of the month-GAH!" I could feel the veins in my forehead twitch, and just like the creep before, Gourry received a swift boot to the face as he staggered backwards. "Ow! Lina! Why are you always doing that to me?" He pitched his nose to stop the bleeding from where the back of my heel hit him. .. That serves you right for outing me like that as well. Amelia placed her palms together, approaching me with caution.

"This can't be good Miss Lina… That means it's just Gourry and I until we find the others-"I hushed her quickly as I watched the vampire slowly lifted himself up. The blond stances in front of the two of us, blade held at an angle in front of us. He waited as the vampire lowered himself like a cat ready to pounce, and within second he leaped. Gourry swoop in and the vampire vanished in thin air.

"I already knew you were going to do that…" I could hear his whispered from somewhere near in a mocking tone. "Your types are so predictable… Now your friend on the other hand...is currently an open target." I saw him swooped from the side, Gourry budge me out of the way, taking a hit for me. The vampire's claws gashed out the fibers in his shirt, red streaks formed with droplets of blood beading though. The vampire's eyes glowed as the scent of Gourry' blood filled the air.

"You know," His daggered teeth grew more as he cracked a demented smile. "The mistress did say that we can eat the men…" There was a pause. "Human men that is…" With his sight locked on Gourry, the two waltz around each other.

Montreal's arm withers and twist as it began to move upon its own accordance; its digits flexed and folded as it pulled itself across the ground. A trail of blood was left in its wake at it wiggled its way back to its owner. The injured man knelt as he carefully picked up the arm and put it in place. Zelgadis and Proserpina observed Montreal in horror as popping noise of tissues and bone fusing back filled the air.

"No way…" The pearly one whispered lowly. "He's regenerating…"

"Vampires are well known for that." The blue one stated in a matter of fact tone. "-Which is what makes them nearly impossible to kill off. At least those higher ranking that are." Montreal would be considered to be along the ranking of those created by Lady Karnstien herself. His arm flexed responsively as it finally fused back into its place, curling his fingers as he gazed at the both of them with an evil grin on his lips.

"Have you forgotten that I am no ordinary vampire…?" Even the eye that was severely burnt changed into a milky color as it reformed its shape. "Surely you haven't forgotten, have you?"

The two prepared themselves as Montreal crept towards them; he let out a low chuckle as he drew near, a crimson aura builds up as he let out a long hiss. He vanishes into the darkness, and Proserpina instinctively backed herself against Zelgadis.

"I don't think he is going to toy around anymore." She muttered as her eyes darted about. "Something tells me that this is about to get pretty nasty." The blue chimera nodded as he enchanted his blade again; His face bared an unsure expression as he carefully track for the vampire' next move. A stillness hung heavy in the air as they wait for the monster's reappearance.

"Linaaaaa…!" Prince Phil's voice bellow as it echoed throughout the tunnel as the two progresses deeper into the underground network. . "Sir Gourrrrrrry…..Ameliaaaaa!" He roars into the dark depths as a group a bats swarm out in response. The prince let out a long sigh as the other heave one himself.

"Big Phil, I don't think this is working…" Pokota mumbled as the two crouched over though a natural passage. "If anything, it brought more bats then one can keep count with." The other gazed quietly at him as his eye glinted with a strong determination. "I will do what it takes to find them!" He balled his fist tightly as he waved it in front of his face. "-Especially my sweet daughter AMELIAAAAA!-"

Pokota shoulders dropped as he had given up on calming the older man down in order to stay quiet. There was no telling what could be wondering around in a maze like place such as this. The younger Prince did his best to keep his eyes sharp at least; whatever light he was able to summon help in some way, but it could penetrate the density most of this area had.

"SIR ZELGADIS!' Prince Phil as rather set on finding everyone and get the team reassembled at least, more so it was insure the safely of the others, as more importantly his daughter. The thought of having the princess wondered about in settings like this naturally would disturb even the most concern such as Phil himself. Yet if only 'Big Phil' knew of just how touch he little Amelia was, he wouldn't fret and would of stayed somewhat silent, but the older male was not apprehending of how dire his calling out could be.

He continue to yell out into the darkness, a strange shuffling perked the ears of Pokota as he caught the glimpse of a feline like silhouette passed rapidly by. He then roughly tapped the chest of his companion; which irritated the other man as his search for the others was interrupted.

"What now?" Prince Phil gritted his teeth as the other pointed somewhere off in the distance. The two fell silent as the faint noise of pattering could be heard. "Amelia? IS that you-"

It's not her…" Pokota glanced at Prince Phil with a raised eye brow. He went to open his mouth, until he felt the air around him suddenly rush out of nowhere. Instead of the smart remark he wanted to make at the older man, a sharp yelp came out, as he was knocked to the ground by an unseen force.

"Big Phil- RUN!' He bellow as the other rushed to his side. "Don't worry about me. Get out of here!"

'Are you insane, Porsel?" He grasped at the younger man's shoulder and yanks at him the hardest he could to pull him back to his feet. The two then backed up into a corner as a large, snowy tigress hybrid move on upon the both of them. "I refuse to leave any of my friends behind. Now let's make a dash for it!" The two readied themselves as the tigress stood on her hind legs, a low purr could be heard as she licked the outline of her jaw. There was an indescribable thirst that lingers deep within her eyes as she started to circle them.

I decided it was time to get over the fact that Mother Nature has left me somewhat inadequate feeling at such a fowl time like this. I am mad, but at the same time, I can't be. Things like this are normally the situations that are label "Out of one's control", and there is nothing I can do. That didn't mean that I wasn't still worth my salt; I still process a short sword, and at least I can take a few chunks out of a vampire if they even dare! Not to forget about the presence of both Amelia and Gourry, who were embracing the fact that they would have to be the front men of this current dilemma.

Toothless was on the verge of attacking; his body low and pose as he leap from the ground and came flying at the trio of us. Amelia's hand glowed with energy as she blasted an Elmekia Lance at the vampire. The blond remain still as he narrowed his eyes, focusing as the dust from the spell settled. Toothless huffed as he clutched his chest; so it seems that at least the Spirit type magic may have some effect on them. He let out a growl as he jumped high, grasping one of the many speleothems that were connected though this cavern. He positioned himself face first as he peered at us from above. Gourry steadied himself as the vampire left go and dropped down. He swung his blade as fast as he could, slicing a bit of Toothless scalp off. The vampire froze, grabbing the part of his head that was gone. Blood began to profoundly pour across the left side of the man's face.

"You!-"He angrily leered as he went full speed at Gourry. The warrior brought him blade behind him as he waited for the moment to strike-

"Raaa tilt!" Bright white light engulf the vampire as it spread out in a radius around us. It too, causes the creature to freeze. His knees scarped the ground as he skidded a great distance from us.

"Damn you White magic users…" He screeched as he coughed up a bit some kind a dark substance. It appeared to be blood, but blacked due to the digestive process. Oh gross! "Do you think you can really stop me, princess? I will not let Montreal down." Toothless shook as he lifted back to his feet; Both Amelia and Gourry readied themselves as the vampire made the second attempt to attack with a full on charge again.

"I hate to break it to you." the blond piped with pride as the princess charged herself up for another spell. "But you going to have to be stronger then what you are now to beat us."

"Even with Ms. Lina down," Hey now! I'm not completely out of order now! "Mr. Gourry and I can defeat you with the Power of Togetherness!" And what am I? Chopped liver and onions? I can still stab this asshole in the heart or head if he gotten close enough. At least you two do take my well being seriously. Aww…. Oh come on Lina! This isn't the time to sit here and get all sentimental on everyone! I withdrawn my sword and held it close to me in a defensive position. There was no way I could sit here and watched my friends handle everything now? No apologizes, but Lina Inverse is not known for doing nothing, that's for damn sure!

'Well isn't that cute." Toothless cooed as I shoot him the dirtiest look I could muster. "Looks like Little Miss "Snack time" decided she was going to join the fight after all!" You know, Toothless wonder, I wonder how the likes of you ever became something that you call a half excuse of a vampire? Because, if I was the one who laid eyes on you; I wouldn't bother turning you in the first place. Whoever done that, which I believe by what he claims; it was Montreal. I really think the dude did it out of sheer pity. I would love to show you who the snack is if I only was able to cast a Dragon's slave. It is apparent that I cannot perform, and even if I could, there is not telling how deep the seal on this piece of land covered, since Pokota was not able to earlier. The vampire snarled as he started to run at us again; Amelia set of another Light magic spell, while Gourry charged ahead of it. I just stood there like a twit waiting for both of them to finish him off. The blond hit the man directly in his chest; left to center at that! Good job guys! Toothless stared into Gourry' eyes as he gurgles on his own fluids. Amelia waited for me as we both stride towards the two men.

"Hmm? Now what were you saying about taking on the likes of you?!' I sang in his face as I waved my blade at him, aiming for the spot right next of Gourry'. With a powerful swing, my sword thrust deeply though the man's ribcage and out of the other end. More blood pooled into his mouth, and his body went limp after what felt like minutes passing by. We removed our blades, and Toothless crashed into the ground. We defeated the guy, and the vampire's body bubbled into a goop, before turning into dust. I let out a deep breath as we sheathe back our weapons, and after a quick scope of the area around us, the three of went forth as we venture more deep into the cavern. It felt like this went on and on, that I was beginning to wonder if this was one of the ways that lead to the Underworld. Meh, you know that all superstition! I don't think there is a physical place that connects us directly to a supernatural world. Though you never know, and there is a possibly one could be here, just left untouched for centuries.

I could hear the soft lapping of running water as we encountered a huge pile of unless stones then a path that lead to a stream. Water crashed at a force as we scale its edge, it smashed violently against the stones that lie scattered across the bank. There was no way the three of us could cross safely without one or all of us washing way until who knows. We voted to continue, which was a good call. Soon there was a crumble cross way, and with careful steps, we gradually made it successfully to the other side. The atmosphere had a center blood lust feel to it, and eventually I could hear the sounds of struggle that grew louder with each stride. There was a grand size hollow part, and somewhere off in the center was there were two people, who I recognize as both Zelgadis and Proserpina. If it wasn't for the intense looks on their faces, I would have greeted them, but by what the gist I get, there something serious going on. I then saw Montreal on the opposing end; a smug yet dark smirk graced his features. He appeared too had taken some heavy damage, but recovered. The two were watching him as Amelia and Gourry prepped up for a sneak attack.

"Looks like I have you both!" He then charges madly after the two chimeras; Proserpina glowed while Zel backed his reach to swing his blade.

"Elmekia Flame!" Amelia shouted as Proserpina let go of the solar energy she was building up. The two unintentionally did a sort of combination like I done earlier, yet the solar energy had intensified! I could feel the ends of my hair singed as Gourry pulled me quickly from the place! The spell cause the natural dome to rumble as the impact of the energy that was release faded away. It did quite the number on Montreal, and his body that was still standing, smolder in its spot.

"Did that finished him off?" I could hear the blue chimera ask softly as we waited to see what would happen next; Montreal twitches as he opened what was left of his jaw and gagged. It was a horrifying sight to witness; as before me the flesh that was left had begun to stretch and regroup in the places where it was nearly burnt off. There was this sickening slurping noise as his lips reformed. All but his hair and his eyes were fully restored back to an appearance of a man. I felt my jaw dropped as he turned his head in our direction.

"Looks like the rest had finally come to rejoin you…" He voice had an unnatural rumble to it as his eyes took shape. Both where glazed with a milky like color; I'm assuming he is completely blind at this moment. "Good…This makes it much easier for me again to have nearly all of you here." The only two that weren't present were both that of Prince Phil and Pokota. I hope that wherever they are now, they're not facing the similar danger as we are currently now.

The tigress roared as she readier her body to the ground, staring at the two men as they looked at each other for any suggestions. Pokota finally restores to spell casting, his hands burn brightly as a ball of fire launches forwards. It makes a direct hit in the tigress face, catching fire to the soft hairs. Puffing air heavy from her large nose, the chimera paws at her visage, placing the fire out. As the smoke clear from her view she notices that the two, men from earlier where gone. Both the prince was set at high speeds, racing as fast as their legs could carry them. The sound of crashing water was nearby, and they soon found themselves stumbling upon a raging stream, the tigress gaining closely on them.

Pokota grabs the other' hand, and race along the bank, till they encounter the stone bridge. It crumbles as parts broke off as their feet stamp across it. More and more soon fell off as the tigress sped across it, gaining on the two as they continue to dash throughout the cavern. They finally encounter the others, and now see Montreal in the earlier stages of transformation.

"I grow so tired of this form…" He growl as I watch the very skin that grow back in place, outstretch as his feature began to take on a gruesome appearance. His complex went from pale to a deathly gray, his eyes yellowed in the centers, and huge bat like wings ripped their way from his back. His fang grew into dagger like size as he let out a blood curling screech. I would call him Montreal the bat man, but I'm afraid you wouldn't take him as serious as he should be. All joking aside, this man grew three times in height, and now tower over us.

From the distance, I could hear the faint panting of people running as Pokota and Prince Phil zoomed into the area. The two were pale in complexion, and both raced their way to the princess.

"Amelia!' Prince Phil nearby crashed into the poor girl as he grabbed her, whipping her around in a circle

"I thought I would never see you again…" Her father sniffed as Amelia wrapped an arm around his neck. "I was so worried… You couldn't image."

"I know father, I know." She kissed him on his forehead, grabbing both of his hands as she gaze at him with a lovingly expression. "I was so scared about you as well! I thought I lost you as well…"

"-Oh Amelia!-' Pokota bailed as he popped from between Amelia and her father, placing his hand on her shoulder as he pulled her close to him. "The thought of never seeing you again as well breaks my heart! I am so glad you're here." He held her closely as Zel narrowed his eyes at him.

"Hey now-!' The blue chimera fussed. "We don't have time for all of this!-"He pointed to the now newly change bat like creature that hover above us. "We all can play catch up later. Right now this guy is becoming even more of a larger problem."

He was right; this guy is not going down so easily like the one douche from before. After all, this was Montreal, who boosts about being special since he was sired by the duchess herself. Big whoop! You can grow back you limbs and skin, and even change into a huge ugly bat like freak. Really he just looks like a troll, with fangs and a pig like noise, along with two unnecessary large wings that flapped loudly. He glared at all of us as if we were pest, readied to be crush under his boot.

"We also have another to consider as well." Pokota stated as a white tigress appeared from the archway. There was something about her movements that said that she wouldn't hesitate to tear anyone of us apart, limb by limb. He grabbed both Amelia and the other prince, running to the other side where both Proserpina and Zelgadis were.

"It is too late to run away now!" He roared as he outstretches his great arms. To be honest, it's not like I plan on making an attempt at it anyways, but even if we could, we wouldn't be able to go too far. If anything we would find ourselves probably deeper underground then out of here. It looks like everyone was on the same page. Eventually Gourry and I made for it to the rest of the gang, forming a row as we huddled close to each other.

"Well…" His voice rumbled as he was greeted by the sight other female hybrid. "Look is out and ready to play as well." The tigress let out a low growl before whipping her head in our direction. "Maybe if you're a good girl, I'll let you have all the human males." She made a delighted noise, and Montreal gave a beasty grin as he laughed glaring at us.

"This is certainly going to be fun!" He exclaim as his wings flapped more, bringing him higher. Crimson energy grew from his palms, and he let out a maniacal laugh as he release serial burst in our direction!

Author's note: Ugh I didn't get my chance to take my proper weekend to really clear my head, so this felt like it took longer due to the havoc scheduling that work has been loading recently. This chapter feels even a tad shorter then what I normally plump out, so I'll try to make that up in the next chapter! Maybe next Sunday! We shall see. I don't want to push myself too much when the summer season comes up…

I would love to continue my expressive gratitude to the readers who take the time to read it. I know a lot of it it's perfect, so I wanted to take the time to thank you all for your patience and time as you read this. *MUAH*

Next chapter is going to be an intense one, that's for sure. I've also realize that there may have to be a second part to Legacy itself, I didn't realize how big it was going to be until I started to type. Even though I personally feel like there is a lot of work in progress with it, I can't help but to feel proud as hell. Not the fact that I feel like this story is awesome (I think it is) but I've commitment to something and still keeping it going. It's a small act, but those turn into larger things, good or bad in the long run.

Till next time!
