"So, you're telling me an actual alien has somehow hooked up with WWEE, and another, entirely different, alien is helping Shego and Miss Barr hunt for the runaway one?" Despite her words, even the emphasized ones, Kim had a suspicion that Doctor Director was not as incredulous as she sounded. "And that these aliens are responsible for Shego and the other members of Team Go having superpowers?"

Kim shrugged. "With a little help from Ron, I'm afraid." Even as her common sense kicked her in the back of the brain for saying that, Doctor Director's scowl forced her to elaborate. "By accidentally launching a rocket from the Middleton Space Center off schedule, which apparently damaged the remote probe that was actually supposed to bestow the powers...on someone entirely different!"

Betty blinked in shock for a moment, then brought up her own communicator, entered some commands on the screen, then nodded slowly. "The dates line up, all right." Then she shook her head, "But why would these aliens do this, exactly?"

Kim grimaced. "From what the one admitted to Bernie and Shego, they were hoping their chosen heroes would do a lot of good, at which point they would publicly reveal themselves and see what kind of gratitude or interest they could earn, mostly with a profit motive." She was hesitant to say anything about what they had done to Kim herself, and tried not to look at Drakken as she wondered if Shego had told him the story. Oddly, she suspected Shego hadn't, but couldn't say why.

Doctor Director looked at Frederick Lipsky. "Don't you love it? Interstellar con men on Earth!"

The slightest of smiles crossed her superior's face before a knock on the door made it vanish again. With a frown, Betty went to answer it, to find Will Du frowning as he held out another communicator.

"The local team sent to the neighborhood where Miss Barr called from report no sign of either her or Shego..." He was interrupted by a voice bursting from the comm in his hand.

"Control, we have spotted the vehicle that the two women were reported to be driving. We are approaching it cautiously, but see no sign of either one of them." As he said this, Neil Wicks, the head of the local Global Justice office, arrived. He was a tall, balding, rather pale individual, though appeared to be very fit. And he was also sporting a frown to match those being exchanged by the others in the room over the news. Kim was also quite tense, wanting to take some action, any action!

Betty scowled deeply. "Why didn't they tell us the exact address they'd traced EWWE too? I can understand Shego possibly having a motive, but Miss Barr...or maybe the alien wasn't able to pin it down?"

Kim shook her head. "I probably don't know enough about these aliens to offer an opinion, but they seemed pretty capable before, if more then a little dysfunctional in some ways."

"I suspect Shego held back the address in case you decided to just storm in and leave her out in the cold, as it were." Drakken opined, "She certainly has motive to want to get to grips with Agent Alpha personally!" Then he suppressed a wince with fair success, he wasn't at all sure Doctor Director knew exactly what had happened to Shego that Halloween night.

Betty didn't catch the wince, being focused on her comm's viewscreen, but looked up at his words. "She's met up with him before? When?"

As Drakken's mind raced for an answer, he failed to notice his uncle had caught his wince and was favoring him with an expressionless gaze that frequently upset criminals far more then a scowl might have. And then Drakken was saved by an unexpected source.

"Remember, Bernie said Alpha disabled Shego at the Halloween party, then escaped one of the security guards her father had hired that night?" Kim addressed Betty, again challenging the limits of Drakken's poker face severely.

Doctor Director scowled briefly, then nodded. "Right, then Shego recovered and slipped away in the excitement surrounding Gemini's arrest, I remember!" Then she frowned, "But I don't recall how Alpha was incapacitated?"

Kim grinned, "Did you see the cowgirl outfit Bernie was wearing?" Betty pondered a moment, then nodded, so Kim continued "Well, that pistol in the holster was the real thing, or rather an accurate replica of a real gun, and had plenty of heft, as the top of Alpha's head could testify!"

Betty winced. "Ouch! Well, that couldn't have left him in a good mood, that security guard was lucky..." As her voice trailed off, her expression began to darken again, "And give Alpha a reason for personal revenge, as well! I don't think Miss Barr should continue accompanying Shego on this hunt, it could be dangerous for her!"

Kim began to look very alarmed at that. She only knew Alpha by reputation, but he definitely seemed to be mean-spirited. His brother, Jackman Daw, had tried to use him to infiltrate WWEE and score major points with Global Justice. But his brother had apparently taken to the 'evil' lifestyle quite well, or developed different ambitions beyond helping his brother's career.

After his second capture, his brother had gone to 'debrief' him, only to end up buried to his neck in a compost heap with a note saying 'I never liked you anyway, big brother' taped to his forehead. And if he'd do that to his own brother...

"Well, someone wanting to harm Miss Barr would have to get past Shego first," Drakken opined, scowling, "But Alpha managed to get the better of her before, so I have to admit to some concern myself!"

The same voice came over the comm in Will's hand. "Control, the car is empty, but there's been an odd development! A rather large individual just emerged from a bar across the street from where the car is parked. He's wearing tartan pants, a matching tam o'shanter, and a large backpack, and he doesn't look too happy about something! He's completely ignoring us, just marching off down the street...and if our scan of the contents of his backpack is correct, whoever he's going to meet is not going to be very happy when he gets there!"

Shego regained consciousness with a jolt, and felt as if someone was trying to smother her. She immediately began to struggle, but her arms were restricted somewhat. Though as she flailed around, she heard Bernie's voice "Shego! Hold still while I get this on..." Then one of Shego's hands connected with something solid before she registered the words. A painful gasp resulted, then Bernie continued "Fine, finish it yourself!" Then the surface Shego lay on, obviously a mattress, shifted as the nurse moved off of it.

At this point Shego realized the material 'smothering' her was thin, white, and...cotton. "A T-shirt?" She wondered, then realized it was only half on, with her left arm nearly through one sleeve, the right still entangled somewhat in the other. It took no more then a few seconds to sort it out and get it properly on. Then she assessed her surroundings.

She was sprawled on a steel framed bed furnished with a thin mattress covered by a single sheet. Straight past the foot of the bed she could see a door in what appeared to be a concrete covered wall. The resemblance to a standard cell door was not lost on her. Her bed was tucked in the corner opposite the door, with the wall on her left.

Looking to her right, she saw an identical bed at right angles to hers, with Bernie sprawled on it. Her friend was wearing a cropped Tee and boy shorts, both white, identical to Shego's current garb. Then her eyes were drawn to Bernie's left cheek, which had a still-developing bruise on it.

"I didn't do that just now, did I?" She asked urgently.

Bernie took a second to answer. "No, you just added to it, don't worry." Shego frowned, trying to work through the confusion that reigned in her still slightly foggy brain. She noticed that their outfits left about six inches of abdomen showing, and her shorts fit very loosely, except the elastic waist band. And that Bernie's prosthetic foot was absent. Then a thought struck her, and she groaned, causing Bernie to fix her with a curious scowl. "What?"

Shego shook her head. "You traveling with me, losing your clothes...again! Mind you, the first time was voluntary, second not so much, but still this sets a bad precedent!" Then she looked down at herself and frowned. "You were dressing me...who undressed me?"

"A couple of female MMA types. I woke up just as they finished with you, then came over to me. Started to ask something, can't remember what, and the big one backhanded me! Then when they were done stripping me and I didn't seem too good, she looked in my eyes and apologized! Said if she'd known Alpha had concussed me, she wouldn't have hit me, and she seemed quite sincere! Then she helped me dress, but left you to dress yourself and they both left."

Shego's blood pressure was elevated nicely at this point. "Alpha clobbered you? Where? How did he get close enough? How did he know where we were? What was our little alien friend doing while you were hit? WHAT!?" She ended with a shout at the look her friend was giving her. But when the shout caused Bernie to wince, she was immediately contrite. "Sorry, I didn't mean...you know what's going on?"

Bernie sagged back against the mattress. "My mind might be a bit scrambled at the moment, but I think our 'friend' may have decided he has a better chance of finding his missing shipmate with EWWE then with us."

Shego's jaw might have dropped if it wasn't clenched as hard as it was. Even as Bernie was speaking, her own mind had made the leap to the same conclusion. And her darkening visage was assuming a genuinely frightening aspect. "Why that sawed-off...I am definitely testing whether that suit of his is plasma-proof, see if I don't! And I'm royally pissed at myself for not even thinking of this happening, I should have treated him just like all the villains I've had to deal with over the years!"

Bernie smiled weakly. "Think associating with me has dulled your edge?" Then before Shego could reply, she scowled, "How did they get you, anyway?"

Shego grimaced. "I was sitting in what I thought was a safe place, Jock had gone in the back, and they just walked up and sprayed some stuff in my face! I was out so fast I never clearly saw their faces!" Then a wicked smirk appeared, "But Alpha may regret snatching me from that Bar!" She frowned for another reason as she finished. She didn't feel quite right physically, a little weak. "Did they shoot me up with anything?" Even as she said it, she noticed a slight pain in her left buttock.

Bernie scowled uncertainly. "If they did, it was while I was recovering from the backhand, unless they did it before undressing you."

Shego thought that over before shrugging. "Nothing to do about it now, except see what it does to me!" She now leaned back and studied their cell with greater interest. "Wonder where we actually are?" There were no windows to allow light in, that being provided by a caged light fixture.

Bernie smiled. "We're in the studio we followed them to."

Shego gave her an incredulous look. "And they have cells in a movie or TV stud..." She trailed off, eyes widening, then looked around. "You have got to be kidding me!"

Bernie raised one arm and rapped on the wall. The resulting sound did not match the décor. "When I first tried to work my way over there to dress you, I leaned against this wall, and actually felt it give! So basically, we're actually on a film set, and this is just a bluff, of sorts!"

Shego's smile became somewhat wicked. "So, basically, we're out of here any time I want to blow one wall down? Well, that's..." She broke off and looked around cautiously. "I wonder if we're being watched or listened to? I..." And then she was interrupted by an odd sizzling sound, and a flicker of red light that became one of the aliens. But as usual, it was impossible to distinguish one from another.

"Actually, they do have video surveillance in here, but it strangely malfunctioned just when those two women began undressing you." The being remarked smugly. Both women noticed that he was carrying a small cylindrical object, the size of a pocket flashlight, in one hand. He in turn took note of the hostile glares he was receiving from them both. He held up his hands in a placating manner. "Please! I am in no way responsible for your current predicament! It was that k**** that the captain put in charge who is responsible! I questioned the captain's wisdom in assigning him, but then again I question the captain's wisdom pretty much constantly, so no one took notice!" The presumed profanity describing his fellow was a mixture of consonants and whistles.

Both women continued to stare at him dubiously. He held up the object in his hand. "This should help Miss Barr recover from her concussed state, reducing recovery time to eight hours, it's little enough compensation for your troubles."

Bernie regarded it warily. "It won't have any side-effects? Or give me superpowers?"

The being began to shrug, then paused. "Would you like superpowers?" It asked cautiously.

Slightly taken aback for being taken seriously, Bernie shook her head. "No, Thank You!"

Now he did shrug. "Just as well, the only set of powers available for us to give you has a costume limitation I don't think you'd care for!"

Shego blinked, then shook her head. "What, another perverted idea from you guys?"

The alien straightened up and somehow conveyed outrage by his posture. "We are not 'perverted'! You must remember the heroes we create have to have great appeal to the masses, and you cannot deny the popularity of scantily-clad heroines!"

Shego hesitated, then nodded grudgingly, speaking to Bernie, "I can't fault his logic there!"

"In any event, this will do nothing of the sort, it will just help you heal the bruising to your brain far quicker, and it is completely safe!" The being then stood with the object extended, clearly focusing on Bernie. After a moment, the nurse nodded. The being then stepped forward and pressed one end of the cylinder against the top of the woman's bare thigh. He didn't appear to manipulate any buttons or switches, but Bernie's eyes suddenly widened. "There, all done!"

Bernie rubbed the spot where he had applied the device, then looked up to see Shego regarding her with some concern. "What, am I turning green or something?"

Shego scoffed. "Well, knowing these guys as much as we do, I wouldn't be surprised..." Then broke off as their visitor suddenly swiveled around frantically, then backed hurriedly into the corner farthest from the door. He then underwent a transformation Bernie had seen once before at the Open Lair. His limbs retracted into his body, and he now resembled some kind of domed trash can, minus any obvious place to insert the trash. He then did something new, changing color to a dull, mottled gray.

Guessing the reason for this behavior, Shego turned to face the door, arms crossed under her bust, even as she wondered "If Alpha is hanging around with one of his crewmates, how is that 'disguise' supposed to fool him?" Then she scoffed. "Like it would be the first time a villain missed the obvious!"

A moment later there was the clear sound of a key being fitted in the lock. There was a moment's pause, and she was sure she faintly heard an urgent voice, but then the key turned to reveal Alpha. He was wearing EWWE's 'new' uniform, black slacks and a short jacket over a teal pullover, though Shego wondered how they'd afforded to replace their original outfits, which had the same colors reversed, a 'shipping mix-up' supposedly. In any event, it did nothing to lessen her distaste for that particular color. She also noted that it was bulked up a bit, probably with some sort of protective armor.

From the hallway without came various sounds, like a cell door slamming and muted voices, but Shego detected a 'canned' quality to the sounds. "Well, it is a movie studio, guess he's trying to impress us or convince us he has an actual prison at his disposal!"

The EWWE leader was accompanied by the two woman Shego assumed had undressed them. And they certainly looked tough and capable. Except one snuck a concerned look at Bernie as she entered. And the other...Shego suddenly realized that her own posture was emphasizing two of her natural attributes with the help of the thin material covering them, and the second woman's gaze showed clear appreciation. But Shego refused to react, maintaining a defiant and angry attitude.

Alpha actually smirked in the face of Shego's glare. "I wouldn't try anything, we gave you a shot that should reduce your fighting ability sufficiently for these two ladies to handle. As well as another dose of that wonderful concoction you experienced before, so any use of your plasma is going to carry the risk of a stroke or heart attack!" He informed her smugly. To be truthful, his two companions didn't really seem as confident in their fighting prowess against even a weakened Shego as Alpha, though they kept up a good front.

Their leader then shifted his attention to Bernie. "How's your head? As I said at the time, though of course you couldn't hear me, I believe I owed you that, Miss Barr!"

Shego responded first, bringing his attention back to her. "I don't believe she gave you a concussion, though. In fact, she should have hit you harder then, you recovered way too fast!"

A flicker of surprise crossed the villain's face before he regained his smug expression. "Well, it's been a long time since I tried a non-lethal attack, she's lucky I didn't crack her skull!"

"IF you didn't!" Was Shego's response, which caused a bit of unease, though that may have been partially due to the tone of Shego's voice, which held considerable menace. But again he recovered.

"Whatever! As it is, I have no complaints about the events of this afternoon! I have you here as captive, and my own alien to counter whatever the other one gives to that foolish woman! Now, I just have to figure out what she's up to here in Los Angeles and see how I can turn the situation to my own advantage!"

Which was useful information to Shego, it was WWEE that was up to something here, the question was, what? Shego decided to fish a little, but not make the bait too good. "Well, from what I know, it has something to do with your big brother, the cyclops' former deputy. What Hildy thinks she can get from it, I don't have a clue! By the way, just how long have we been here?" She hoped that with the consternation her statement had certainly caused, the question would not rouse Alpha's suspicions.

"Barely an hour." Alpha muttered distractedly as his brow furrowed. "My brother? Thought that idiot would be locked away somewhere deep and dark by now!" After a minute's worth of brooding, he shook his head. "Not that that matters at the moment! I am going to consult with my new 'asset' and see what he can do for me, then we'll see!" A smug smile on his face, he then started to turn away, before Shego stopped him by speaking up.

"Before you go, Alphie, I think there are 3 ways I can rain on your little parade!" And it was her turn to speak in a smug tone, one meant to irritate him. Which of course, it did.

Smile banished by a scowl at Shego's disrespectful address, he regarded her warily, before engaging in standard villain denial protocols. "Really? I doubt that very much!" Then his face twitched. If Shego had claimed one way to spoil his day, that was an acceptable bluff. But three?

Shego's grin widened as she held up a finger. "One! These aliens that you and Hildy have hooked up with are basically con artists! They created Team Go, though we were not the intended recipients of the 'Glow' powers, in order to generate good will on this planet that they could then exploit for their own profit! It failed for several reasons, the first of course being who ended up with the power, so their superiors are really unhappy with them!"

Bernie chimed in before Alpha could respond. "Basically, the one here has been assigned to locate and retrieve the one hanging out with WWEE. And to do this, he betrayed us because he thought you would have better resources for that task, which ought to show you how far you can trust him! In any case, as soon as he accomplishes his mission, he'll beam out and leave you talking to an empty shell!"

Shego took up the conversation. "And you can't afford to stall trying to find the other alien because you don't know what he might give Hildy...that's if he doesn't accidentally erase Los Angeles from the map!" At Alpha's startled look, you continued, "You see from what we've been told, that alien isn't the brightest one in their crew."

Alpha's expression was truly curdled now. A number of suitably defiant phrases were racing through his mind, but the simple fact he truly didn't know these aliens' capabilities meant that any of them could potentially end up embarrassing him. And if he was going to spout clichés, he wasn't going to let one backfire on him! Then another thought struck him. "You said three ways to rain on my parade, what's the second?"

Shego shrugged. "Well, you remember that pub you abducted me from? The one with the sign warning against abuse of the host's hospitality?"

Alpha began to scoff, remembering his thoughts at the time, but instead warily asked, "Why should I be worried about offending a local bar owner?"

Bernie surprised Shego by answering first. "Well, if said owner's last name was Killigan, I would be concerned!" Shego noticed her friend was sweating profusely despite the room's coolness, which wasn't helping her modesty, and hoped it was a side effect of whatever the alien had given her.

Alpha's brow furrowed yet again. "Killigan? Not Duff Killigan?"

Shego rolled her eyes. "Of course not, Duff's back in Scotland looking after the family's estates and clan business! This is his little brother, Jock!"

Alpha's eyes narrowed. "Are you telling me he has similar interests to his brother?"

Shego scoffed. "If you knew a thing about their family history, you wouldn't ask! According to legend, the first time gunpowder appeared in Scotland, a Killigan was drawn to the scent of it! Another says they already had a formula for an explosive mixture whose ingredients were even more disgusting then those in Haggis!" She shrugged, "Not sure about that one, myself. Three members of the family have been Masters of Ordnance for different rulers of Scotland and England, so I think you would be safe in assuming Jock knows how to make big bangs!"

Alpha regarded her doubtfully for a moment, then smiled and shook his head. "Impressive bluff, I think. I find it very hard to believe..." At which point the entire building shook, causing dust to drift down from the ceiling and Alpha's jaw to drop open in shock. His two female companions immediately hunched and looked upwards anxiously.

"Would you believe, your damage bond on this place just doubled?" Bernie quipped.

Alpha snapped out of it and spoke into the cuff of his left sleeve. "Report! What's going on?!" Apparently he received a reply inaudible to Shego, because he grimaced and snapped angrily, "I know we're under attack! By who, and how..." He broke off as the sound of bagpipes skirling penetrated the walls, looking frantically around as if expecting the source to crash right through one of them, they sounded so clearly. Then he regained his composure, speaking confidently into his hidden communicator, "Assemble a reaction squad on the jungle set, I'll lead them myself, Alpha, OUT!"

He then turned as if to go, then suddenly hesitated before spinning back around. "All right! What's the third thing?!"

Shego's evil smile blossomed in all it's glory. "You seem to forget that I used to work for, live with, platonically, and am a good friend of a rather brilliant mad scientist! And it didn't occur to you that he would find a counter for that stuff you put in my system?"

And suddenly Alpha's widening eyes were reflecting a bright green light.

"Say Goodnight, Alphie!"
