"So he's not a threat?" Sheppard asked. They were in the cafeteria with most of the rest of the team. Teyla was on a trip to see her people and Rodney was doing something with the puddlejumpers.

"Oh no Methos is always a threat. But he's not an active threat to anyone here and isn't likely to become one."

"Always a threat?" John asked around a mouthful of apple.

"He's over five thousand years old. He has survived millennia wherein humanity numbered in the hundreds of thousands and millions not billions as an immortal, that takes some serious sneaky. He runs when he can, fights when he must, and cheats constantly."

"Sounds like black ops."

"Something like that. Look, he's got no reason to be a pain in the ass and every reason to help."

John chewed thoughtfully then swallowed his apple chunk. "He knows about the wraith?"

"Yeah."

"You gonna test him?" Ronon asked.

Max glanced at John then sat and waited for him to answer. He was working on another bite of apple. She bit into her sandwich and thought about her argumentative conversation with Methos.

"Okay first no more complicated conversations during lunch." John said clearing his throat after finishing his apple. "Second, nah."

"Why not? Maybe Max is a weirdo." Ronon pointed out.

"I am a weirdo." She said and speared a pickle off his plate. He fake growled and stole it back.

"Colonel Carter doesn't want to risk bringing another Wraith to the city. If he needs testing it'll be in the field."

"You read about his time in the SGC didn't you?" Max asked around a mouthful of sandwich.

"I won't say an immortal soldier is unappealing however, an immortal soldier that can't follow orders –"

"Two of them." Ronon pointed out eating his pickle, this earned him annoyed glances from John and Max.

" – doesn't appeal."

"Oh he'll follow orders, until he thinks they're stupid then he'll tell you why and if you stick to the dumb only then will he disobey. I mean, that's…what you would do right?" She asked John while eyeballing Ronon, ready for retaliation.

"Not the point." John grunted and peered at the contents of his own sandwich.

"Where's Rodney?" Max asked and faked stabbing Ronon in the hand as the big man made a move for her apple.

"Something with Zelenka." John said watching the interplay between the Runner and the immortal.

"Something interesting with Zelenka?" Max asked still eyeballing Ronon. She knew about John's intelligence and found it amusing that he took it for granted. It did explain some of his tactical genius. She thought he should use it more often and help Zelenka and the others.

John sighed at his sandwich. Then pushing it aside deftly snatched Max's apple before she could react.

"Watch your flanks." He said and took a bite. Max sighed, realized she had finished actively eating her meal some minutes before and decided she was done.

"Well played sir." She said then hopped up from her seat, dramatically saluted and took her tray.

"No! Look I'll just do it myself go stand over there and try not to touch anything." Rodney's voice cut through the otherwise still puddlejumper bay like a chainsaw through a forest glen in an early Disney movie. As she got closer she could hear Zelenka cursing under his breath in Czech.

"Radek." She said agreeably. He was fuming over a pad and casting withering looks at Rodney's back in between glancing at his pad.

"Max, hello." He said and sighed.

"I thought Rodney might have kept you busy through lunch." She said and held up a to-go lunch from the chow hall.

"You are an angel from above." Radek sighed.

"I hope not." She laughed and walked into the puddlejumper.

"AH YOU." Rodney babbled then registered her smile and the food she carried.

"Relax Rodney, I'm not here to do anything terrible. I brought you two lunch."

"Oh, okay that's…good. Thank you." He said and nearly snatched the bag out of her outstretched hand. Sometimes, after prolonged bouts of minimal contact, Rodney tended to lose all progress in their relationship. It only took a few hours of near proximity to get him back up to snuff but Max's patience was minimal so she made a point of feeding him and otherwise keeping her 'friendly' flag flipped in his giant brain.

"Hey uh I heard you have a friend? Here?" Rodney asked awkwardly. Max frowned.

"I hope I have a few?" She suggested.

"Uh, I mean the one, like you."

"Oh yeah uhm yeah he's here he's still recovering."

"Right well, I hope he does, and uhm soon." Rodney said then dove into his lunch.

Max grinned, "Thanks Rodney, me too."

She nodded at Radek on the way out.
