"I find it amusing that you have overlooked a very basic fact." Radek snorted at Rodney.
"Me? Overlook a fact Zalenka?" Rodney snorted.
He was on his back digging under the panels in the cockpit of a puddle jumper while Radek watched.
"For your plan to succeed you will have to spend quite some time with Sergeant Holloway."
Rodney went very still then cleared his throat, "I don't see why that would be an issue. We're teammates –"
"Okay sure Rodney." Zalenka snorted and muttered to himself as he left Rodney to his work.
"It…it will be fine." Rodney said firmly to himself.
"Do you think it's possible?" John asked.
Carson blew out a breath and pulled up a few scans on the display in front of them. "These are EM readings." He said and struck a few more keys and several more populated until the screen was filled with a grid of humanoid scans in a rainbow of gradient colors.
"These are from mortals and immortals, even a wraith. We all have EM fields, almost all life forms that we know of do. Nothing strange about that. Now, these scans." As he spoke the large grid was replaced by 4 larger images. From left to right the humanoid form seemed the same but the colored gradients varied wildly.
"Are from one immortal over a period of several months."
"Whoa."
"The issue is not a lack of data Major, it's a lack of clear data. To do what Rodney proposes we need to be able to sort through all the noise and settle on a distinct signal of some kind, assuming there is one. For all we know the oscillating nature of their fields is part of the equation."
"Fair point." John admitted and chewed his lower lip in thought.
Teyla whipped a banto stick at Max's ribcage, Max allowed the blow to land and used the distraction to drive one of her own sticks in for a stunning blow to Teyla's torso but the taller woman anticipated the move. Twisting and doing a back bend she dodged the blow and used her momentum to hurl more strength into her other stick where it cracked Max in the head.
The smaller woman grayed out and went to one knee, maintaining enough awareness to roll off the mat before Teyla could land another was gasping for breath and looked pleased at having rung her student's bell so thoroughly.
"Your focus is improving." She panted as Max slowly blinked and got to her feet.
"You're not holding back." Max said and grinned through her disorientation.
"I must admit, it is refreshing to have an opportunity for such vigorous training."
"I'll remind my concussion of that." Max teased with a grin. Teyla stepped off the mat joining her friend. They took a break, toweling away sweat and hydrating.
"I hear you have agreed to help Dr. McKay with his research?"
"Yeah. I figure it might help Carson figure us out better and it doesn't involve needles or wraith or a lot of my time."
"Still, you should be commended. Thanks to your assistance we may soon be able to strike another powerful blow against the wraith."
"Ah, when you put it like that Teyla I get all self-conscious and red." Max grinned
"How is the team?" Carter asked.
"Great, you know that." John said. He was fiddling with a frisbee had had acquired somewhere. Carter ignored it.
"Rodney and Max?" She prompted.
He paused his frisbee spinning to give her a knowing look, "A work in progress but since she started letting him and Carson scan her twice a day things seem to be improving."
