Chapter 3: Our First Christmas
Danny and Star were now at the park. The couple were now seated in a park bench, one that was in the middle of the park and surrounded by small hills of snow.
Danny and Star were holding hands and huddled together.
"Oh, Danny-Boo. It's our first Christmas together. I love it..."Star said in a romantic way, as she wrapped her arms around him.
It was both out of affection, and also because she wanted to keep his mind off certain family issues that he was dealing with.
"Me too..."Danny said, enjoying her affection.
The couple continued to enjoy their company.
The cold air didn't bother Danny, it's the knowledge he would have to be home soon.
"So... any good news from last night?..." Star asked, trying to change the subject to something more optimistic.
Her boyfriend smiled, he did indeed have some.
"Good news, I managed to get in contact with Frostbite. He said that he can loan us the Infi-map, but only for an hour, so we can go visit Dani later today after all..."Danny said, making his girlfriend smile at that.
"Really? Awesome..."Star said, waiting to see her.
"I'm hoping at least some family isn't causing trouble..." Danny said, a little somber as he could hear a siren in the distance and figured where it was going.
Star heard this and decided to get his mind off that.
"I can't wait to see her…"She said.
"I hope that she likes the gifts we sent her..."Star said, changing the subject to something more positive.
Her boyfriend had a small smile at that, as he held Star close.
"She will, she's still a kid, inside and out..."Danny said as they thought of her.
Meanwhile
At Lake Eerie
Danielle and Wulf were in the Manson cabin, having their own little Christmas.
Dani was amazed to see that she woke up to see over a dozen presents under the tree, all addressed to her and Wulf...all of which are from certain friends of hers whom wished to see her soon.
"A whole lot of gifts to make up for how many years I should be alive! Alright..."Danielle shouted as she ran to the tree with the energy and joy a child should have.
She eagerly tore all the wrapping paper apart to get to her presents, and found herself in a paradise with what she found.
Wulf, who was sitting on the sofa and drinking some hot cocoa that he made for them, saw his little friend's happiness and smiled.
"Bongusta..."He said, smiling before taking a sip of his cocoa in a civilized manner that contrast his beastly appearance.
Danielle was with childish glee at what she got. A hoodie, some other new clothes, a toy sword, a robot toy, some books and a painting of herself as Dani Phantom, the latter done by Star herself, along with a bunch of other stuff too.
"Hooray, I hit the jackpot!..."Danielle said in excitement as positioned the painting on the wall.
"Tre pensema pri ili..."Wulf said, smiling as the little ghost girl look at him in confusion.
"Try pencil huh?..."Dani asked, confused since her Esperanto is still pretty rusty.
"Oh... very thoughtful of them..." He translated, in his heavy accent.
"Oh, yeah. Definitely..."Dani said as she noticed something else.
"Wulf, look. You got some presents too..."Dani said as she gestured to the pile as well.
Wulf grinned.
"Mirinda..."He said, as he opened one that was from Danny and Star.
He found out that it was a roast pig that is still fresh and warm and there was a letter on it from both Danny and Star.
"Dear Wulf, thanks for always keeping an eye on Dani for us and for keeping her company. Merry Christmas..."Was heard.
Wulf smiled and then devoured his first gift.
"This rocks..."Dani said as she held one of her new toys up.
"Mi konsentas!..."Wuf said as he chewed loudly.
"I got a gift for you too..."She said as she floated to him.
"You did?..."He asked, and she nodded.
She then presented it to him.
"Wulf, here..."Dani said as she handed it.
Wulf raised a brow as he saw something that was in crumbled newspaper and a shoelace as a bow.
"Sorry, but wrapping paper is something that Vlad didn't exactly program into me..."Dani said, since Danny said that her budget needed to be spent on food and stuff to live.
Wulf still took as he unwrapped it and saw that it was a handmade figure of himself made of wood. It looked a bit crudely made, but figured arts & crafts is another skill she's not good at. However, it was also cute in a child-like manner too.
Still, he smiled at it and at her.
"I like it..."Wulf said, smiling.
"Thanks..."Dani said, smiling sweetly.
"I also made little figures for Danny and Star too, which I plan on giving them during their next visit..."She said, wishing that they were here right now, but she understood that they can't be.
Wulf smiled and wiped a tear from his eye before handing her a gift.
"Tio estas por vi..."Wulf said as he handed her a box.
"You got me a gift too?..."Dani asked, excited.
"Uh, duh..."Wulf said, like it was obvious.
Danielle eagerly opened it and saw that it was a hand carved figure of her as Dani Phantom, no doubt made thanks to his claws.
"Wulf, this is so awesome. Thank you..."Dani said as she hugged her larger friend, with put a smile on his face.
"Aw, ne dankinde..."Wulf said as he patted her on the head, that's when he heard her stomach grumbling.
"More food..."He said as he went to the kitchen and fetch her something.
The little ghost girl smiled, feeling very happy right now.
"The only thing that would make this Christmas even better is if Danny and Star were here. Oh well, I'm sure that they are having fun..."Dani said, as she continued to celebrate her small but meaningful first Christmas with her good friend.
All the while, the sight of a plate with a mountain of cookies caught her attention.
Back in Amity Park
Danny and Star remained on the park bench together, wanting to enjoy the quiet and intimate moment they had together.
"I could stay like this forever..."Star said as she whispered lovingly into his ear, wanting his attention on her alone and the love they have.
"Me too..." He said.
Before they kissed, they heard a kid crying. Looking to the direction, they saw a bratty child with his arm being pulled by his mother.
"Why didn't Santa come for us?!..." He asked.
"I told you. You've been naughty all year long. The only reason you don't have coal is because Santa didn't want to dirty our carpet..." The mother went.
"It's not fair! Those people in the dumb suits probably scared him off again! That's what happened!..." The boy went, while his mother dragged him away.
Hearing talk about Santa and his parents soured Danny's mood.
"And... that happened. Even when they're not around..." Danny muttered, unable to finish that sentence.
"If his parents don't stop this nonsense, we are SO not bringing our kids to their place for the Holidays after we get married..."Star thought, frowning but also trying to shake her head to clear the thought of marriage.
"IF! If we get married. Never mind that... this is important..."She thought, as she needed to focus on her man and his happiness.
"Danny?..." She asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Come on, talking will make you feel better..."She said with compassion.
Her boyfriend sighed, before turning to face her.
"I'm gonna be honest Starlight, if I didn't have you, I'd have disappeared and I almost half considered just spending the whole day at the Ghost Zone Christmas party..."Danny said, looking down.
His girlfriend looked appalled.
"Danny-Boo...I love you with all my heart...but did you seriously just say...that you would rather spend Christmas, the most important time of the year at a party with most of your ENEMIES, who spent the rest of the year trying to destroy you and the town in mad efforts to either kill you or take over the world...than spend Christmas at your own house?!..."Star asked, looking appalled.
Danny nodded.
"Yes, Star. Mostly because of the Ghost Zone Truce, which ALL ghosts take seriously. They all treat it as a big deal to not fight on this day and to treat each other nicely...and I saw for myself last year that breaking that truce is a bad idea..."Danny said.
Star blinked, unable to believe it.
"Even his enemies are willing to act nice for the sake of the Holiday, while his own parents can't get it how their idea of celebrating is messed up..."Star thought, knowing how wrong that sounds.
While she is grateful for the Christmas truce and the fact that all of his enemies promised not to fight on this day...but it was just plain wrong that Danny seemed to LEGITIMATELY prefer their company over his own parents on this day.
"That's not right..."She said, hating this.
This was her first Christmas together with her one true love, and his parents have already made him lose Christmas spirit with their stupid fight.
Well, no more. She won't have that.
"Danny, I really think we should talk to your folks and end this..."Star said.
"Star, even the cops can't get them to listen. I blew up in their faces last year and they weren't phased..."Danny said, burying his head in his hands.
"Danny?..."She said in concern.
Danny realized that she was worried about him, and tried to cheer up for her sake.
"But it's alright. I mean...I'm spending Christmas with the most beautiful and amazing girl from Amity Park. Got a great present from her and we're gonna see Dani and Wulf later today. This already is the best Christmas I ever had..."He said, trying to smile.
"Why am I not satisfied when he says that?..."Star thought.
"I mean it..."Danny said, forcing a smile on his face to please her.
However, when he looked away, his smile faded.
His fake smile couldn't last the second he stopped looking at her.
Star saw this and frowned.
"Oh man, he's more gloomy than he's willing to admit. Looks like I am gonna have to do some things earlier than expected..."She thought as she formed a plan.
"So, uh...should we open our gifts now or keep kissing?..."Danny asked, wanting to keep busy until it was sundown.
Star, however, had other plans.
"Time to start fixing things..."She thought, before sending her man a sweet smile.
"Actually..."Star began.
"Actually?..." Danny asked.
"Before we open our gifts, I want us to take the time to enjoy that it's just up, a moment of peace..." Star said.
"I'm fine with that..." Danny said.
"Good, then. let's go..."Star said as she snuggled closer to him before his curiosity got the better of him.
"To where?..."He asked, wondering what she is up to.
"You and I are going to go around town, see all the places, check out all the places where it's at its most magical this time of year..."Star said with a large grin on her face.
Danny blinked, looking unsure.
"Starlight, I've been trying to be more cheerful and open-minded. I even helped set up decorations at school and even helped with that toy drive for needy kids. I also phased a few cars stuck in snow..."Danny said, but his lady love then shook his head.
"That's wonderful, Danny-Boo, but I meant to do something for us. To start making our own Holiday traditions. And that starts with celebrating things the right way..."Star said as a smile on her face.
Danny thought for a moment before giving in.
"Okay, Star. If you insist. Frostbite says that we can use the Infi-map at around 4, so we do need something to do until then. Lead the way..."Danny said.
Star smiled.
"Alright..."She said as she took him by the hand and soon lead him to their first stop, determined to make this the best Christmas ever for her man.
"Time to give him a really good Christmas..."She thought as smiled, intending for this to work
She was determined that by the end of this day, her man would have the best Christmas ever.
