Meliodas and the Seven Deadly Sins stood ready for what would be the final cl with the Demon King.
"Meliodas… everyone," said Ruby.
"We're going to bring you down with everything we've got right here right now!" said Hiccup.
They then charge at the Demon King, who raised his earthlike hands to crush them.
"Kneel before me, you fool!" he boomed.
He then channelled dark magic between his two hands and engulfed them in the field of darkness. The moment it touched them, they immediately felt the gravity around them intensify, trapping them in place.
"Or be crushed! Be gone! Scatter like the puny bugs you are! How dare you think you can defy a mountain!"
"Really? I blow away mountains for breakfast!" Eret roared and fired a miniature sun.
Hiccup then swung his sword with all his might creating an opening within the darkness. This allowed Eret's attack to exit, and it slammed into the Demon King's new body. However, since his body was so massive, it was nothing more than a bug bite.
"Absolute futility," he laughed as he reached out towards them. "You cannot inflict pain or fear upon a god!"
Snotlout laughed. "So you're saying you can't feel pain or fear, huh? Sounds like you're dead to me!"
"You are mere pawns of the Holy War! Pawns should remember their place; their sole purpose is to fight at the bidding of the guards!"
"I don't speak for everyone, but I hate fighting!" said Heather. "However, if it means defeating you, then I will gladly fight!"
"You're serious about defeating a god?" said the Demon King sounding amused. "Such delusions are unforgivable."
"I am willing to do whatever it takes to protect what is precious to me because I happen to be a greedy King!" Fishlegs yelled defiantly.
"Ragnar!" Hiccup yelled.
Ragnar raised his staff. "Brace yourselves; you'd be laid out in bed for a week after this! Now Power Limit Break!"
Ragnar then cast a spell on instantly; all of them felt a massive power boost in power and broke free from the Demon King's darkness.
"What's happening?" Heather asked. "I feel magic causing through my entire body."
"Child of Belialuin, are you not satisfied with deceiving the gods already?" the Demon King asked.
"You have no right to speak on the path that I have chosen!" said Ragnar.
All of them immediately jumped into the air to engage the Demon King. Hiccup and Astrid entered in their Dragonborn forms, and Meliodas entered into his demonic form. The Demon King instantly tried to grab them with his hands, but they easily avoided his grasp.
"Now Trillion Dark!" Meliodas yelled, unleashing orbs of darkness upon his father.
"Dragon Barrage!" Hiccup yelled, unleashing powerful sword strikes.
"Final Providence!" Eret yelled, tossing an extremely large and burning sun above him.
"Valkyrie Dance!" Astrid yelled, holding out her battleaxe.
"Jet Hammer!" Heather yelled, launching a fist of stone.
"Spear of Judgement!" Fishlegs yelled, launching his empowered spear.
"Killing Storm!" Snotlout yelled, unleashing a storm of mace strikes.
Although the attack headed straight towards the Demon King, he was not concerned in the slightest.
"Fool!" he roared. "In the face of my magic, The Ruler…"
"You're the only fool here," said Ragnar. "Through the use of Astrid's Valkyrie Dance, we have the capacity to turn off your magic. Also,… Power Flow Conversion!"
Ragnar then unleashed a powerful spell combining all of their attacks into one powerful concentration of magic.
"Be gone!" the Demon King commanded, trying to neutralise the magic with his own.
"It's no use; no matter how much you struggle, there's no way for you to erase the feelings etched deep inside our hearts!" Astrid yelled.
Just as Ragnar said, the Demon King could not neutralise their combined attack and then headed towards him.
"My dearest sons, do you truly intend to abandon me?" The Demon King cried.
The Demon King actually panicked as the attack headed towards him, but completely out of nowhere, Meliodas appeared in front of him. He then swung his sword knocking the attack right back.
"Ah, well done, my son," said the Demon King relieved. "Your stupidity emerged and saved me!"
"Not quite," said Meliodas glaring at him. "I just want to make sure the attack finishes you off once and for all!"
Hiccup then placed himself in front of the attack as it headed towards him. "You got no one to blame but yourself for being a terrible father. This pointless war has been going on for 3,000 years, and now it's kind of put it to an end! Dragon's Breath!"
The combined attack struck Hiccup, but somehow he was able to absorb all of it and then launched it right back at the Demon King, but this time even more powerful.
"And I'm glad that you're such a young redeemable scum; now I can be cute or pop without hesitation!" said Meliodas placing himself in front of the combined attack once more.
"Meliodas!" the Demon King roared.
"Full-Counter!" he yelled, deflecting the attack once more.
Hiccup then quickly through in front of the attack absorbing it and aiming it right back at Meliodas. They kept this up constantly, and each time the spell got stronger and stronger.
"Every time Meliodas' uses his Full-Counter, he deflects it would double the strength and each time Hiccup Haddock absorbs, he launches a double the strength as well," said Zeldris as they watched the process repeatedly.
"Stop!" The Demon King five, realising for the first time he was in trouble. "If you release such magic, what do you think will happen to this continent?"
Hiccup then suddenly positioned himself directly in front of the Demon King and over the lake. "Is this angle good enough, Ragnar?"
"It's perfect! Now!" Ragnar yelled.
"This is the Demon King!" Hiccup roared as he absorbed the attack for the final time.
The attack then launched itself back towards the Demon King, now a hundred times more powerful than it was originally. With his magical ability now neutralised, he could no longer nullify the attack, and when it made contact was a huge explosion that destroyed his body instantly.
Hiccup found himself face-to-face with the Demon King in an empty field.
"You will come to regret this deed, Hiccup Haddock," the Demon King vowed. "The age of light and dark will end, and what awaits us…" He then stopped himself. "…well, you already know."
"That's fine; bring it on," said Hiccup.
The Demon King then disintegrated into nothingness.
The Demon King's monstrous body then fell apart as he fell to the ground. The moment it did, there was a huge explosion that said a massive explosion and dust cloud throughout the entire area that spanned for at least fifty miles.
When the dust finally settled, all that was left of the landscape was smouldering rubble. Fishlegs used his Pollen Garden to shield them, but not everyone.
"Zel! Zel! Answer me!" Gelda pleaded, looking around for him wildly.
"Gelda! Look up!" Meliodas pointed.
Everyone looked up and saw Mael floating above them with Zeldris in his arms.
"I'm glad I made it," said Mael.
"I didn't ask for your help," said Zeldris angrily.
Ruby then began hearing the injured, which was just about everyone, as they were feeling the drawback from Ragnar's spell.
"Thanks, that's much better," Heather groaned as she sat up. "Wow, I'm completely spent. I don't think I've ever felt this tired."
Heather then collapsed, causing a small earthquake in the process.
Astrid was sitting down next to looking just as worn out. "Ragnar's spell unleashed power that went way beyond our limits."
"That makes sense, but are you doing okay?" Heather asked.
"I will admit that for once, I wished that I was in a puppet body," Astrid admitted wincing. "I've never felt this kind of pain before."
Fishlegs reverted back to his original form, unable to move a single muscle. "So, is it finally over?"
"No way anyone could survive that," said Snotlout.
"We did," Fishlegs pointed out.
"Yeah, but we were ready for it."
Hiccup and Meliodas appear to be the only ones still able to move, and it was soon joined by Zeldris.
"Very thing okay, Zel?" Meliodas asked.
Zeldris just looked at Hiccup. "Tell me the secret, Hiccup Haddock. The combo move you guys released was powerful to destroy the whole of this continent. How did you focus it so that only the Demon King took the full force of it?"
"The answer is right there," said Hiccup looking towards the lake.
Zeldris followed his gaze and saw within the destroyed basin of the lake was a blob of water.
"Just look like a blob of water to me," he said.
"It's the mysterious lake that stores limitless magic," Hiccup explained. "We were able to do what we did because this thing absorbed all the extra power."
"How bizarre, a lake that continues to exist even after losing the basin that contained it," said Zeldris curiously. "I'm impressed that you were able to make that call so quickly."
"That was all thanks to Ragnar."
"Hiccup, listen! Fire at the Demon King while aiming towards the lake!" Ragnar yelled during the battle.
"That man is too crafty for his own good," said Zeldris looking at Ragnar, who was looking down at the lake.
"Hiccup! Meliodas! Look!" Heather cried as she pointed. "How can that be?"
"No way," said Ruby stunned. Down in the rubble, everyone could see the Ten Commandments still very much intact. "The Commandments still remain, but I thought we defeated the Demon King."
"Can't he just stay dead?" Snotlout grumbled.
"He's certainly an annoyance and very impudent," Eret agreed.
"Well, we are dealing with the guard after all," Ragnar reminded them. "Even if we do somehow manage to defeat him, it would be challenging to completely annihilate him."
"Oh no," Heather moaned.
"However, after the beating we just gave him, it will be down for a while," said Ragnar. "It could be centuries before he regains his original strength."
"A couple of centuries will fly by fast," said Heather.
Fishlegs nodded in agreement.
"I wouldn't say they would fly by," said Snotlout.
"Not for those of us with short life spans," said Astrid.
"Regardless, there is still a way to destroy him," said Ragnar, and then he looked towards Meliodas. "It's true, right, Meliodas."
"Yeah," Meliodas nodded.
"Is such a thing even possible?" Gelda asked.
"I don't know," said Ruby honestly.
"You guys there stand back now," said Meliodas looking at Hiccup and Zeldirs, who complied.
"What are you going to do?" Zeldris asked.
Meliodas then began taking on his Demon King form, and the sheer power coming off him was enough to startle Zeldris.
"Look at that form! Feel that magic!" he gasped. "I can't believe it. Meliodas has achieved a level on par with fathers. Beyond it even! Don't tell me, are we to believe that this is a manifestation of your own power?"
Meliodas then used his golden hands to pick up the Commandments then channelled his magic into them.
"I'll throw everything I've got at them, and I'll wipe out the Demon King for good!" Meliodas announced.
Everyone could feel the ground shake as Meliodas' power clashed with that of the Demon King's.
"To Demon Kings, simultaneous powers are resonating strongly; we're feeling the side effects of that," said Astrid.
"Begone!" Meliodas commanded.
Zeldris then grabbed his hand. "Wait! Think about it; with this level of power, you can easily take our father's place."
"Yeah, I could," Meliodas admitted. "Or I could rule the Demon Realm with fear just like father did, but I don't want that. I have no interest in it. How about you, Zel? Is that what you want? I doubt it; I believe your wishes to build a peaceful Demon Realm with you can live with Gelda. Am I wrong?"
Zeldris then released him. "No, you're right. How is the last thing we're seeking."
Meliodas then turned his attention back onto the Commandments and unleashed his power. Hiccup watched as the Commandments were destroyed one by one and can help but remember the Demon King's last words to him.
"No matter what age or circumstances they encountered next, all of us and those who inherit will continue to fight," said Hiccup. "We were always pushed back."
The moment the last of the Commandments were destroyed, Meliodas reverted back to normal, and the storms that had been raging upon the continent ceased. Sun, for the first time in days, shone down upon the land.
"That's it, it's all over," said Zeldris.
"Yeah," Meliodas agreed.
"This concert has been going on for 3,000 years; now it's finally to an end," said Hiccup.
The people of Berk rejoiced as they saw the sun shining from the clouds above.
"It's the sun!"
"The disaster is over!"
"Is it true? We've been saved?"
"The ominous magic that was overpowering moments ago is gone like it was nothing," said Ase. "This must mean—"
"Alvin?" Calder asked.
"It's true," said Alvin. "It seems as if they've actually managed to pull it off."
Citizen and Dragon Knight alike began to cry out in cheers.
"Let us welcome home are champions, the Seven Deadly Sins!" Topaz announced. "We shall mark today as a new memorial on the continent and hold a festival!"
Everyone immediately cheered, fully agreeing with the king.
Meliodas turned to Zeldris. "I think this calls for a drink. A celebration is in order. How about it? Will you join us, Zel?"
"I'm not a fan of crowds," Zeldris huffed.
"Suit yourself; I won't force you on how you feel."
"The Black Dragon is always open if you change your mind," Hiccup offered.
"Well, if it's just us, then I'll think about it," said Zeldris and looked at Meliodas. "Granted, you'll be picking up the tab."
Meliodas laughed as he put his arm around him. "You do you?"
The sun was now beginning to set, and both Zeldris and Gelda took off.
"There they go," said Ruby.
Hiccup looked at Meliodas. "It's nice to see the two of you acting like true brothers."
"We still got a ways to go," Meliodas shrugged.
"Well, my friends, everyone is waiting for you," said Eret.
No one could bear to turn their heads to look at him.
"What do you mean for us? You're coming too, aren't you?" Heather asked though she knew the answer.
"Yeah, she's right; you can't just stand there forever," said Fishlegs. "You should come along with us."
"I'm sorry, my body won't move any more," said Eret regretfully.
Hiccup turned around and looked at Eret, whose entire body was now engulfed in flames.
"It looks like this is it for me," said Eret solemnly. "Even so, I have not one regret with my life. Thank you for being a huge part of it, all of you. Fishlegs… I always enjoy our talks immensely. Astrid… I am grateful to see you and Hiccup back together; the love you share is a beautiful site. Ragnar… Heather… I'm sorry that I want to be able to attend your wedding, but I wish you nothing but happiness.
Lady Ruby… Sir Meliodas… I am overjoyed to see the two of you finally reunite and would ask you to send my very best to his Majesty, Alvin and the others. Sir Mael… thank you for taking care of us to the very end. Snotlout… try not to drink too much. Hiccup… I owe my life to you, you were my mentor and my friend, and it was an honour to serve alongside you."
"The honour was mutual, my friend," said Hiccup. "Truly, I have never seen another human like you, and you've proved to everyone just how powerful humans can be."
"I do truly wish there was something we could do to help," said Ragnar as he stepped forward. "You have saved our lives million times over, and that is a death that we can never repay."
"But you allowed me to speak to Rosa; I consider that debts repaid. Now all of you can live your lives without fear of another conflict, and that satisfies me just fine."
"It shouldn't; you should be out here enjoying it with us."
"Alas, fate has a cruel sense of humour, but the best way to live through that it was a good sense of humour."
Ragnar gave a small chuckle. "Even dying, you show more courage than the rest of us."
Eret smiled. "That's what it means to be a knight, isn't it? To show courage even in the face of death? If I were so bold, I would ask you to do me yet another favour?"
"Name it?" said Hiccup without hesitation.
"Tell my tale to those who come after me, so it may give them strength in times of need. Tell them how the weakest human that ever lived challenged a God on equal ground that strength can always be found from within and those around."
Soon the flames around him became even more fierce, and everyone could see that his skin was now burning; he didn't have much time left.
"It looks like my time is almost up," said Eret.
"Eret, please!" Heather cried.
The flames then began to engulf him. "Take care, everyone, and thank you for everything. This could get dangerous, so please keep your distance."
"We're not going anywhere; we'll be right here until the end," said Hiccup.
"We don't want to say goodbye," said Heather.
"Neither do I, but yet here we are," said Eret. "And who is to say that we are going to say one final goodbye? We may meet again in some form or another. Either way, it was a pleasure and a privilege to know you all."
"The pleasure was our old friend," said Ragnar. "And I promise that we will tell your tale to all those who come after."
Tears began to form in Eret's eyes, but they quickly evaporated. "Six strong pillars that held a mighty foundation, but even when this foundation crumbled, they remained strong as it still carried that great weight even as it turned to dust. May a new foundation be placed upon those pillars and maybe stronger than the one that came before."
Everyone watched with sad eyes as Eret's body burnt to ash. Even after his body burnt to nothing, the flames continued to burn, and the embers of those flames were carried off by the winds. It would have been beautiful if it hadn't been so sad they kept watching until the last flame died out.
Hiccup closed his eyes. "Goodbye, old friend and may you have a peaceful sleep."
