Flashback Pt. 2

Rey walked up onto the Millenium Falcon and walked to the bunks. She walked into the closet and a wave of sadness rushed over her. Flashes of Han's death appeared in her mind. In her sorrow she wondered how Ben felt. The knowledge of the death of her parents had almost shattered her. She could not imagine how it must feel to know that Han died at Ben's hands. At the hands of Kylo Ren…

Rey brushed her hands over the clothing. There were some capes, and a lot of vests. She had no idea if she would be able to find anything in this wardrobe that would fit Ben. An image of his bare chest invaded her mind and she quickly banished it. Warmth filled her cheeks, and she covered her face with her hand. She wiped her face as if to shake off the blush. When she removed her hands from her eyes she saw a metal box underneath a few of the vests. Curious, she walked up to it and picked it up. She opened it and found a neatly folded black shirt and vest. On top of the clothing was a note.

Ben

Something to wear for your homecoming. A present from your mother. How did she know your measurements? I didn't ask. Hope it fits.

Dad

A tear fell from Rey's eye as she read the note. When was it written? She thought to herself. Han and Leia hoped so much that their son would come back. This note and the clothing that came with it was a symbol of that hope. She lifted the clothing from the box, and folded the note so she could slip it in the front pocket of the large vest. She walked back out of the Falcon and headed back to the cell that held Ben. The guards were playing cards. They stood up when Rey approached. She ignored them and walked up to the bars. They watched her carefully; respecting her reputation while doing their job as guards. She used the force to place the folded clothing carefully in the corner of the cell. A place where nobody could reach them without opening the nook. Then she noticed the bucket of water that had been placed in the same corner.

She pointed at the nook and looked at the guards "Was this cell opened?" She questioned. Anger started to rise in her. Anger that someone other than her was allowed to get physically closer to Ben. His life jeopardized by the trigger happy rebels. She quickly suppressed her feelings in order to maintain her composure.

"Chewbacca brought the water." The sandy-haired rebel responded simply. Rey put her arm down in relief and confusion.

"Where is Chewie?" Rey asked. The guards simply shrugged their shoulders. "How come you let him in? I thought Poe forbid it."

The iskalonian said something in his alien language and Rey turned to the sandy-haired boy.

"What he said" The boy exclaimed. "I'm not going to get in the way of a wookie."

Rey took one last look at Ben to check if he had stirred. In place of the neutral expression she had seen earlier, was an expression of confusion and possibly sadness. She couldn't tell. She wanted to see into his mind and find out what he was seeing, but she decided against it. She stomped off to find Chewie.

She found him cleaning his bow caster by a grove of trees.

"Hello Chewie." Rey whispered as she entered his space.

"Argggh!" Chewie exclaimed as he rose from his sitting position and gave Rey a large hug that engulfed her in fur.

"Alright Chewie!" Rey laughed "Don't squeeze the life out of me, I've only just got it back!" Chewbacca released her and they both sat down to talk. "You brought Ben the water?" Rey asked. Chewbacca only nodded and looked down. Rey could tell there was conflict stirring in him. "I'm sorry for all you've lost Chewie. Han and Leia were like parents to me. I wish I had had more time with them." Chewie looked Rey in the eyes. For awhile they just sat in silence, sharing a moment of mutual sadness. When the moment past, Rey spoke again.

"I need to go somewhere Chewie." Rey looked at the horizon, towards the Falcon. "Do you want to come with me?" She asked. Chewie trilled in response. A sound that confirmed to Rey that he was saying yes to her offer. He needed to do something to take his mind off the grief he had over the loss of his friends. And celebrating victory with the other rebels just wasn't that something.

As they walked to the Falcon, Finn caught sight of them and walked towards them.

"Where are you guys going?" Rey sighed at the sound of Finn's voice. She thought she could get out of here without having to convince her friends to let her go by herself.

"I need to go somewhere, and Finn…" Rey turned around to face him. "...I need to go alone." Before Finn could argue again, Rey simply waved her hand and Finn fell to the floor, unconscious. Rey looked at Chewie. "He's going to be so angry at me later." Rey just smirked and both her and Chewie boarded the Millenium Falcon. They shot up into space, and were gone.
