Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Beast and the Girl. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Gurren Lagann, Gainax and a few others do.

Magnus was quite curious, pondering what was happening. He watched Yoko fire a shot from her rifle, the bullet split the target in half, shattering it into pieces of wood and paint as it flew across the room.

"Damn, nice shot." Magnus stated while he crossed his arms over his chest. "How did you do that?" Magnus questioned while he rubbed at his temples as a piece of wood was batted away.

Yoko hummed before turning and throwing a punch towards Magnus. Magnus blinked before catching the punch, sweeping the sniper's legs apart.

"Why?" Magnus questioned as he hummed, pushing the sniper backwards as he brushed off his shirt. "Seriously? Why? You know I'm a better fighter then you in hand to hand." Magnus stated as he started to shake his head.

"You don't know you don't get better if you don't train?"Yoko said to which Magnus hummed.

"So your solution is to start a fist fight… Because?" Magnus questioned, crossing his arms over his chest as he did so. "You do realize you don't get better at something by jumping straight into it, right? That's not how it works. Your not going to grow in power at all by doing that… That's how you end up getting hurt. Just like that time you tried to snipe a gunmen from the other side of the canyon." Magnus stated as Yoko threw a kick.

This one did manage to connect, causing Magnus to slide backwards as he hummed, curious as to how Yoko had gotten this idea. Then again? Magnus didn't really care so much as he did annoying Yoko like he used to constantly used to.

And judging by the scowl present on her face? It appeared he was doing well at getting results on that.

"Do you EVER stop mentionign that? I didn't mean to have the rifle hit me in the head." Yoko said, trying to throw another kick which Magnus dodged a second later.

"And almost threw you down a mountain… And almost gave you a black eye." Magnus replied as he grabbed her arm and twisted her to the ground. "You could have almost been killed, you know. Your lucky the others were there to back you up, they would have shot your head off. You ever think MAYBE you might not be as much of a badass yet as you think?" Magnus questioned, a knowing smirk present on his muzzle as he did so.

Yoko growled and turned to draw her rifle only for Magnus to grab the weapon and pull her towards him. The two friends looked at each other, clearly sizing the other up like livestock at a market.

"I know your still mad at me for taking off on that one mission, but there's some good news from it." Magnus said, leaning down to look his friend in the eye as he did so. "That mission we can't talk about? There's a good reason I can't tell you about it yet, I don't know what's going on at the moment, but I know I'ts big. It could change this war we're trying to get off the ground. We could turn this thing around, make it not as hopeless as we think it might be." Magnus said to which Yoko was silent.

"If we come out of fighting? We're die." Yoko said as Magnus sighed, shaking his head at the moment. "We both want to fight, but we don't have the firepower to get this off the ground. We're not rebels, we're just protesters at this point." Yoko said while Magnus shook his head.

"It's not like that at all." Magnus said while Yoko sighed and started to head out of the room.

"If you want to train? Your going to have to come back and talk about what I just said, you know." Magnus stated as he rubbed at his temples. "It's not as easy to slip away from it when you seem to think about it." Magnus said as he brushed off his shirt, curious as to how this was going to go.

"This might be the end of it. but this talk is over at the moment." Yoko said and walked away before Magnus put a hand to his temples.

"Why do I always get the stupid missions?" Magnus muttered, rubbing at his head as he hung his head. "I'm not even surprised at how this had gone, but she doesn't know what the surprise is. I'm going to guess this will come out sooner or later." Magnus said as he turned and walked away, eager to get this off his mind.

"This is going to be a LONG, LONG day, isn't it?" Magnus questioned while sighing.

He needed something to get his mind off the pain flooding his head at the time, but the pain had yet to come.
