Chapter 47: The Good News and Seeing Harry Off
Tonks gaped at Cassiopeia. "You gotta be kidding me! Tell me you're kidding."
Cassiopeia turned redder than Tonks' fiery red hair when she was angry. "I wish I could say I was not. Sad to say, I'm not. I'm pregnant."
Tonks shook her head. "What the fuck, Aunt Cassie?"
"That's what got me into this," Cassiopeia replied with a wink.
Tonks' hair turned a grass shade of green. "Okay, I'm going to throw up! That's so gross."
Cassiopeia winked. "You asked."
"I wasn't asking!" Tonks replied exasperated. "I just can't believe that you and Sirius had to be so irresponsible, AGAIN, and go and do...that and oh, God, I just got a mental picture!"
Cassiopeia laughed heartily. "You're welcome."
"It's not funny! I don't need the mental images of you and Sirius being….together" Tonks cried. "You two are so irresponsible! Now we're going to have two kids running around that house, I have enough on my plate, and you two just had to go and have another baby."
Cassiopeia cleared her throat. "And what were you doing? Knitting?"
"I had an accident, but I'm not the one with another baby, you are," Tonks replied. "What are you and Sirius going to do? You're going to have two babies while you're in hiding. Did you think of that while you were in the sack?"
"Why no, when I was naked and tearing off Sirius' clothes with my teeth, we didn't stop to make a family meeting," Cassiopeia replied with a sly grin.
Tonks' hair turned an angry red. "Would you stop that! That's so gross. I might actually throw up, and I'm not the one who's pregnant!"
"Speaking of Sirius, we should tell him the news," Cassiopeia said cheerfully.
Cassiopeia's smile suddenly faded and she turned the deepest shade of green. "Maybe give it a moment."
Quicker than an owl, Cassiopeia dashed off to the lavatory. The next thing Tonks' heard was the sound of Cassiopeia's roaring retching coming from the toilet.
Tonks shook her head. This is gonna be another long nine months, she thought.
After spending almost the entire afternoon in the toilet, Cassiopeia and Tonks took the Floo Network back to Grimmauld Place. Once there, Sirius was up playing with S.J. and Remus was watching on the couch nearby. Sirius got to his feet as he saw Tonks and Cassiopeia come through the fireplace.
"Where have you two been?" Sirius asked.
"St. Mungo's," Tonks replied.
Remus squirmed in his seat. "St. Mungo's? Are you two alright?"
"I'm okay, but Cassie had something to tell you, Uncle Sirius," Tonks replied, nudging Cassiopeia.
Cassiopeia turned green again and put a hand to her mouth, as if to stop the vomit. "In a minute."
Cassiopeia flew off to the bathroom quicker than a hippogriff. As soon as Cassiopeia turned her back, Sirius knew what was going on. Remus was shaking his head. After almost an eternity in the lavatory, Cassiopeia emerged, yet still shaky.
"Surprise," she whispered slyly. "We're having a baby."
"I gathered as much, my darling," Sirius replied as he leaned down and kissed her head. "I can't tell."
"Well, you won't yet," Cassiopeia replied with a laugh.
Remus watched them from the couch with Tonks, shaking his head. "You two, or in this case, you three, are unbelievable. S.J. is already a handful like his father. Now you add to the load!" Remus said
"Well, just for that you can be changing her nappies," Cassiopeia teased.
"Her?" Remus asked. "Should I have brought pink balloons?"
"Shut up, Moony," Cassiopeia replied. "I had a boy already. I know I'll have a girl."
"God help us all," Tonks groaned. "If you will all excuse me, the healer gave me something to help me with nausea. Apparently whatever I ate last night did not agree with me."
As soon as Tonks went out of the room Sirius raised an eyebrow to Cassie. Remus was looking after Tonks with worry which caused Cassie to laugh. Remus turned his head back just in time to see SJ running to jump on his lap with a book.
"So why was Tonks there?" Sirius asked.
"Same reason apparently. However her test came back negative." Cassie said
"Oh really? Hey Moony, You know anything about this." Sirius said, a wicked look in his eye.
"Why would I? I'm not her boyfriend or lover." Remus said
"Oh come off it Moony, you always stare after her when she leaves the room." Cassie said smiling
"Leave it alone, both of you." Remus said as he picked SJ up as he stood. He figured that he would go to another room with the young boy to read the book and get away from the two and their inquiry. In the hall he ran into Tonks coming from the kitchen.
"Oh sorry." Tonks said stopping in front of him. "Are the two getting to you as well"
"Yes. They are. I figured I'd go take SJ to another room to read to him." Remus said. "Oh, and I don't mean to be rude but I thought you broke up with your boyfriend Jason. So why were you there for a…..test"
"Oh….um….well…Aaron and I have always been each other's…um….comfort system." Tonks said, her face turning scarlet.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Remus said shifting the toddler in his arms.
"It's alright. We are usually careful. This time not so much. I was relieved I wasn't well you know. Not that I would mind. But at this point I have taken to the believe I don't want kids at all."
"That's surprising with how you love to watch SJ"
"Yeah I don't value having to be pregnant, then go through labor, then 18 years of taken care of another life. It just isn't something I want to do. Especially since my life will always be in danger, if not from dark wizards then from werewolves….Except you and Aaron that is." Tonks smiled and went to walk past Remus but then stopped. "Oh and please don't tell anyone what I said about me and Aaron. It's been our secret for years and I want to keep in that way."
"Not a problem. Enjoy your evening" Remus said. And the two parted ways
Later that week, it was time for Harry to return to Hogwarts. Sirius and Cassiopeia were not going to let the risk of getting caught by the authorities or Cassiopeia's pregnancy deter them from seeing off their godson. Just as Harry and the others set off for Kings Cross, Sirius and Cassiopeia marched beside them in their playful dog forms. Mrs. Weasley tried to deter them, but the two of them barked happily beside them, not minding her warnings.
"Fine, on your on head be it," Mrs. Weasley said, annoyed.
Sirius and Cassiopeia marched beside Harry as Padfoot and Canis, two large black dogs, tails wagging as they barked happily.
Mad-Eye was not amused as the two walked beside them. "Padfoot, Canis, are you two barking mad? You'll blow the entire operation!"
Sirius and Cassiopeia led Harry into the waiting area where Tonks and Mad-Eye stood guard.
"Sirius, Cassie, what are you doing here?" Harry asked.
"We had to see you off, didn't we?" Sirius asked with a wink. "What's life without a little risk?"
"I don't wanna see you get chucked back in Azkaban," Harry said, his voice filled with concern.
"Oh, don't worry about us," Sirius replied.
"Anyway, I wanted you to hear the news," Cassiopeia replied with a bright grin. "Sirius and I are going to have another baby."
"A baby, wow!" Harry said, his smile as big as Cassiopeia's.
"If it's a girl, I was thinking to name her Andromeda Lily, what do you think?" Cassiopeia asked.
"I think Mum would've like that," Harry replied. "and something tells me she wouldn't believe you two are having more kids."
Sirius chuckled. "Speaking of Mum, I wanted you to have this."
Sirius placed in Harry's hands a black and white photograph. "Original Order of the Phoenix."
Sirius pointed to a blonde woman in a cardigan and skirt. "Marlene McKinnon, she was killed two weeks after this was taken. Voldemort wiped out her entire family. Frank and Alice Longbottom, they suffered a fate worse than death if you ask me."
Sirius gazed at the picture of James. "It's been fourteen years, and not a day goes by where I don't miss your dad."
"I wish I could tell him we're having another baby," Cassiopeia added. "He would've gone yumpy at the thought of two Black children running around."
Harry turned grave. "Do you really think there's going to be a war?"
Sirius and Cassiopeia paused.
"It feels like it did before," Sirius replied.
"But even in those days we still had light moments," Cassiopeia replied.
Harry pressed the photo back into Sirius' hands, but Sirius pushed it back. "You keep it. Anyway, I suppose you're the young ones now."
Sirius and Cassiopeia turned back into dogs and watched as Harry headed off to Platform 9 and ¾ bound for Hogwarts. Once they used the Floo Network back to Grimmauld Place, Cassiopeia had to run for the toilet again. Remus was shaking his head.
"You know, I'm going to laugh when you're stuck here with two little versions of you running around," he laughed.
"When Cassie is begging you for chocolate, you're gonna get it for her!" Tonks said.
"Well, one thing is for sure," Sirius said. "This kid is bringing laughs already."
"Yeah, laughs," Cassiopeia said groggily as she emerged from the toilet. "We'll see about that in nine months."
