13. 'Where's Donna?'

Harvey and Donna have worked as a single entity for more than 12 years. So when people ask Harvey where Donna is, he almost always knows. Firstly, because she's his secretary. So he wouldnt wonder where she is when he needs her, she said. But sometimes she tends to overshare, telling him her plans after work, telling him because they're friends. If friends is what they really are. It doesnt bother him when people ask because he always have an answer. People ask where she is mostly because they need something from her. But people ask because they get concerned too and it happens when they dont see Donna at her desk outside his office. Everyone just asks, Mike, Louis, Rachel, Jessica and even the mailman who's probably delivering gifts from her suitors. He just rolls his eyes when he sees the flowers on her table. He doesnt know why but he hates it.

"Where is she?" Mike asked.

"Out for lunch with an old friend. Why? do you need something?"

"No, just wondering" he answered and sat down opposite to Harvey's so they could work on the case. They all just need to know where she is. It's like the firm wouldnt function without her. Deep inside he knows it wouldnt because he couldnt function without Donna either. He meant it when he said he couldnt be him without her.

When she left and worked for Louis, people would still ask him where she is when they cant find her. It hurt him because he doesnt know where she is all the time now, or atleast that's what he thought. Everyone knows that Donna doesnt work for him anymore but it just became natural for them to ask him.

"Hi uhm do you happen to know where Donna is? She's not at Louis' desk and she's not answering her phone and I need something important" Rachel asked. She knows she shouldnt be asking Harvey but she's out of sorts.

"Check the rooftop" he answered.

"I checked she's not there" Rachel said with a concerned voice.

He's trying to think where Donna could be this early in the morning. He looked at the calendar and he just knows where she is.

"Rachel she wouldnt be here til probably around 10"

"What why?"

He sighed. Not knowing how to tell Rachel without getting awkward. "I-its her first day"

"First day of what?" She asked innocently.

"Of you know what"

"Oh okay. Thanks Harvey" Rachel turned around ready to leave his office, feeling embarrassed.

Even when she doesnt work for him, he has an idea of where she could be. It's her first day and she'll have cramps, headaches and what not. He doesnt care if she's late during her first day of the month when she was working for him. That's the least he could do he thought, and buy her chunky monkey in the afternoon. It was already a habit but now that she's working for Louis, he doesnt know if he should.

"Rachel" he called her before she's out the office.

"She'll need chunky monkey in the afternoon" he continued.

"Oh. Sure I'll get her one later. Thanks Harvey"

Donna came back to work for him. Everything went back to normal. Normal? He doesnt even know what normal is. Being that Mike is in prison. But with Donna with his side, he knows everything will be okay. People still ask him where she is when she's not around. He's happy to oblige with an answer because he knows well where she is and he's happy with that. Contented with knowing where she is. Because he has her on his side.

And then she left again, to become a COO that is. She's next door to his office, as he's the managing partner. So when the redhead is not in her office, the next stop of everyone looking for her, is his, because she's there sometimes. She stops by his office to ask for his opinion on work related matters and vice versa. Or she stops by his office because she just wants someone to talk to and they talk about random things. Them just being them.

And the kiss happened. He was mad. He asked Stu for help. To take her. Because at least he'll know where she is and she's safe. He asked Stu to give her an offer she couldnt refuse and he still offered to pay part of her salary. They had the talk because she found out. He's a coward for not firing her, but she made it easier for the both of them. She always does. She resigned instead.

Having read the resignation letter, he knew what he had to do. He ended his relationship to get Donna back. He knows where Donna would be, at her apartment, because that's where she's comfortable.

He got her back, again. All is well, again.

Eventually, people stopped asking him where Donna is. They just ask how she is because now she's his wife. They dont have to ask where she is because where she is, is right beside him. May it be at work or at home.

"How's Donna?" Jessica asked over the phone. She called to congratulate the two for finally getting together and for the major decision they did which is to move to Seattle.

"She's exhausted from the flight but other than that she's fine." he answers while watching his wife still asleep in their bed. Jessica called at ungodly hour and they just basically landed in Seattle. Timezone difference sucks, he thought but he had to answer the call. It's Jessica, afterall.

"Where's Donna?" He smiled thinking how he's barely asked of that question anymore. It's their 3 year old daughter who asked him. She always hear him call her mom Donna and it got stuck with her. Hopefully eventually she'll call her 'mommy'.

"She's just in the washroom. Come here" he hugged his daughter who let's herself loose once Donna got out of the washroom.

"Donna!" Her daughter shrieked and ran to hug her mom. He smiled at the scene.

People may always wonder where Donna is but he's lucky to almost always know her whereabouts. By his side is where she always is.

Most of all, Donna is always in his heart. He cant imagine the number of times he thought of telling people that his heart is where she is, when they look for her, as cheesy as it sounds.

End.
