CHAPTER 12

Coming upon the room kagome readied a bow and arrow, she drew back before entering the room, her face pale when she saw the mess that had been the children's rooms..she scanned the area quickly before she located sesshomaru about to deal a deadly blow to inuyasha.

"INUYASHA SIT" she screamed. She knew the trouble she would be in, but the puzzle was finally together. Her friend was being controlled, it wasn't like Yura or Kagra…this was Naraku's doing…

"Koi! Don't kill him! That's what Naraku wants. Inuyasha is being controlled..we must kikyo!"

Kagome yelled to her mate, she saw her opening and whispered her apologies to inuyasha, she released her arrow and pinned him to the wall.. The arrow pierced the hanyou and whizzed past his brother to pin him to the wall behind sesshomaru. He stared at his unmoving brother before turning to kagome.

"I have several bones to pick with you kagome." he gave her a cold and unnerving look before again looking at his brother. He picked up his sword and walked over to Kagome, arms crossed over his chest.

"We can fight later..this is far from ov…." She stopped in the middle of her sentence, she grabbed sesshomaru and spun places with him, he stared at her like she grew a second head until he felt yet another arrow fly by him and his mate fell to her knees grabbing her arm. He reached down to her and saw her hand being soaked in her blood.

He began scanning the area looking for the threat so he may rip them to shreds for harming his mate. When his eyes caught kyiko's dull eyes that narrowed in return, he began to chase after her when he felt kagome tug at his sleeve. He looked down to his mate with sad eyes.

"What is it koi?" he asked her watching as she looked up at him

"If i join my family today. Just know I tried my best. Raise the children with a loving hand..and just know from the depths of my soul. I love you..today, tomorrow and forever..in this life and next" she smiled sadly knowing she wasn't going to make it long enough to see forever with the man…no demon…who held her heart. Her miko powers flared out and began to heal the wound on her arm before she stood up and ran to face this threat that has loomed on her, her friends, her children and her family for far too long.

Sesshomaru stood there in complete shock. No one in all his years alive has been able to shake him as easily or badly as this one small human is able to. As his brain repeated what she said to him it finally hit him, she was not planning to live through this battle. Without hesitation he followed her into the heart of the battle that awaited them.

Sango and Miroku followed the tunnels attempting to calm the women and children that worried and cried for their Lady and Alpha. When they had finally after hours of trekking through the dark caverns below the land reached the end of the tunnel that had somehow ended at the start of the southern land they had told the villagers to seek shelter in Endo village.

"Shippo" sango called

Shippo looked to his two human friends "yes?"

Sango carefully took rin off of kirara and placed her beside shippo before her and miroku hopped onto the battle cat

"Lead the villagers to keade's, have Koga and his Wolves help you" she looked to koga his agreement.

Kirara took off in the air and raced to join their friends in battle. This is what they've been waiting for. This was it, the final battle.. This was the fight between good and evil.

Kagome stood face to face with kikyo, her arrow drawn back and on the ready. She had trained for the tests to become Sesshomaru's mate and was fluent in all forms of weapons..but when it came to her bow and arrow, it was still and always will be her weapon of choice.

"Release the spell kikyo, let go of inuyasha and I'll let you live. This is the final warning I am willing to give you. You have tormented all of us for far too long. They stood off for what seemed like forever, minutes seeming like hours. Before he heard Kikyo's laugh.

"You really think, now that I'm this close I'm just going to throw all of my hard work to waste? I'm just going to give up on my child's empire. I have worked so hard to build up along with my mate?"

Kagome stretched her arua to see if what kikyo just said was a lie…it wasn't long before she caught a second arua coming from her, her eyes widened when she realized that kikyo was pregnant..and had been using her miko powers to hide it.

"So what now kagome, are you strong enough to have my blood, along with an unborn child's on your hands. Can you kill a child who isn't in this world yet?"

Sesshomaru stood from the side, hearing everything that was said and he too felt the second arua..his eyes widened when he felt kikyo's aura mixed with a certain demon that helped her create the child, it just didn't seem possible..

Sango and miroku had too heard kagome's conversation with kikyo but had still kept their position in the sky..

Kagome fired an arrow chalked full with miko power and aimed for the center of kikyo, as she let go, a giant barrier surrounded kikyo and the blast blew kagome far away from the undead priestess. The sound of her name echoed through the valley along with Naraku's laugh.

As the dust cleared miroku with one hand and grabbed kagome and was gently placing her beside sesshomaru, kirara land beside the group of humans they watched as the dust cleared and saw nuraku stand beside kyiko, one arm around her waist the other on her stomach

"There you are my love. I was beginning to wonder when you would join this fight" kikyo looked lovingly at nuraku and proceeded to kiss him

Miroku held a hand to his mouth, Sesshomaru wore a face of disgust, sango was bent behind the group relieving her stomach of tonight's feast, while kagome stuck her tongue out

"I think i'm going to be sick" kagome spoke, her friends all nodded their agreement.

"I don't think i saw that one coming" sesshomaru mumbled

"Even i would never dare to impregnate her" miroku said

As the battle waged on, several blows were dealt from both sides until the group had been separated, while Kagome and Sesshomaru took turns dealing blows to nuraku, Sango and Miroku dealt with kikyo. It wasn't until kagome looked back to see that kikyo tried to fire an arrow straight towards sango, quickly turning around she fired an arrow of her own to knock kikyo's out of target and another that pierced the undead miko in the center of her chest, she fired both of these arrows at the same time so not to warn kikyo. And just as practiced she hit her target.

Seeing his mate pierced with an arrow, the souls that she had collected streamed out of her body until the clay that vesseled her and her unborn child's lives shattered into a fine dust onto the field.

"YOU LITTLE BITCH" naraku screamed as he watched his mate die before his eyes, he unleashed one of his tentacles towards kagome that penetrated through her back into her stomach. Kagome coughed up blood and fell to her knees.

Her name echoed through the valley once more, while sesshomaru continued to battle with naraku, sango and miroku ran to kagome. Sango held her sister in her arms not caring that she was soaked in blood, tears ran down her face.

"Sango, quickly. Take me to the children's room. I need to free inuyasha. He shouldn't be under their spell anymore."

Nodding her head, she threw kagome onto kirara and flew a short distance to the castle. Once they had gotten to the room that once the children had slept in, Kagome on shaky legs made her way to Inuyasha and pulled the arrow that she had pinned him with.

"Now go help inuyasha and my mate, defeat him..help sesshomaru with the chil….."

Kagome fell to the floor, not breathing..not moving her body limp.

"Kagome?...kagome!?..no kagome you're not allowed to die on me" sango screamed with pain and sadness in her voice, she heard a pair of footsteps and looked up into shock and grief stricken golden eyes.

"Wha…what happened to kagome" inuyasha quickly knelt beside his friend while sango told him what had happened to her.

"Let's go sango" he stood up with anger, sadness and determination all in his voice. It wasn't long before the pair went off to avenge their friend.

They joined in the battle, the four of them all teaming against narku fighting now harder than they had ever fought before. It wasn't long after Inuyasha joined the battle that nuraku fell, finally overcome by the unforeseeable group. As the last combined attack, Sesshomaru's Demon Blade, Inuyasha's Adamant Barrage, Sango's Hiraikotsu and Miroku's Wind Tunnel. All banned together had finally stuck Naraku where they needed him so all three physical attacks were able to hit him.

"this is for Kagome, and all of the other lives you too" Sango screamed

"Your time creating misery and chaos comes to an end naraku" Inuyasha and Sesshomaru said in unison.

As he died the jewel shards floated out of his body. Miroku bottled the jewel to seal off the tainted jewel, before he turned around to speak to the group he noticed that sesshomaru and inuyasha raced to where their friend had died, the humans had followed on kirara.

Sesshomaru and the others stood over Kagome's lifeless body. Inuyasha kept a grimace look on his face to hide his emotions, while miroku held a crying sango, sesshomaru pulled out tetsaga and held the blade. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath.

-*please. Allow me to save her tetsaga*-

He opened his eyes and saw the underlings to the underworld try to take kagome's soul. He sliced quickly then seethed his sword..waiting to see if it worked. It did take long before she began to gasp for air as her lungs refilled with air, she slowly opened her eyes and smiled.

"Is it over..did you win?" kagome spoke barely above a whisper with a harsh voice

Sesshomaru picked up kagome, openly smiling unfazed by who saw his display of emotion. She was alive, she was living and breathing in his arms. He carried her off to their room leaving the others behind

"Yes koi. It's finally over, you and the pups are safe. Now rest, you need the energy..tomorrow i will go fetch our pups and our people while you rest and heal. The next time you're in heat we will pup then.." he laid her down softly on the bed and laid beside her, his arms wrapped tightly around her.
