Chapter 13

It has been months since the defeat of naraku and kikyo, the castle was repaired, the children were happy and planning under the watch of jaken. Inuyasha began to live in keade's village in peace with the villagers every once in a while he would visit his brother and his friends. Sango and miroku had stayed in the west to help kagome as she healed. Several nights since the battle with Naraku, Kagome had vivid dreams of her Father and Grandparents. Life was back to normal.

True to his word, sesshomaru and kagome locked themselves into their chambers during the next blood moon after she had fully healed. And within a few weeks kagome was now pupped…she still didn't know how many, the arua's weren't strong enough for sesshomaru to tell, for four months they lived in harmony. Enjoying their new found lives free from the fear of the spider hanyou who had caused so much pain. The children and sango helped Kagome with the pregnancy as much as possible.

One afternoon, while the women were in the garden picking the vegetables and the children ran around playing tag sesshomaru, inuyasha and miroku approached kagome and sango. Looking up, Kagome smiled seeing her mate, she tapped Sango and had her help her to her feet. It prided sesshomaru so much to see his mate so swollen with their pup, but it worried him since she wasn't that far along just yet. Kagome wrapped her arms around her mate's neck as she hugged him.

"Hello koi, have you come to help up with the gardens?" she smiled lovingly at him

He gave her an amused grin "kagome, you know we have people who do that for us"

She giggled softly "i know, but being up and active in the fresh air will do me and the pup some good"

He nodded before Inuyasha cleared his throat, sesshomaru's face turned back to the stoic mask he wore before remembering why he came to find her to begin with.

"Is something wrong?" she asked, worry lacing her voice

Miroku handed her the jewel pieces that had still sat in a container "i hate to ruin your day kagome, but we still need to complete the jewel before it attracts more danger"

Kagome stared at the jewel, seriousness on her face "your right"

She took the jewel pieces and purified them before letting them join together to form a complete jewel. It glowed a bright light and when it had dulled the jewel had flung itself into kagome's body where it had once taken dormane. When the glow was gone, so was kagome.

When kagome awoke she had floated in a dark void with the jewel in front of her.

"Kagome, shikon priestess. You have worked hard to get to this point, but worry not anymore child. There will be no more pain or grief. You may make your wish upon me and go back to your life before you had ever known about the feudal era. Kagome shook her head.

"I do not wish to have never known my friends and mate. They have become a family to me."

"Then what about the return of your father and grandparents?" the jewel replied

Again she shook her head. "You have caused such misery, and evil to spread through the realms. My friends have all lost people they loved because of you. My wish is for you to disappear, and never return. That is the true unselfish wish"

As quick as it happened it was over for kagome, she had returned to her mate and friends, but something wasn't right. Her body had returned but she wasn't moving. She watched above them as she watched as her body slowly faded away and disappeared.

When the light from the jewel disappeared they all looked ready to celebrate finally being free, when they noticed kagome was gone. Inuyasha quickly put a hand on sesshomaru's shoulder

"She's making the wish for the jewel to disappear" inuyasha said before his brother went into a frenzy.

He nodded his response watching..waiting for his mate to return to them. It had been hours since she disappeared, when she had finally returned her body laid on the ground sesshomaru had her in his arms in an instant calling for her until her body had completely faded away.

"No. it can't be" inuyasha took off running, heading straight for the bones eater well. He attempted to jump down the well several times begging for it to open back up, when his friends and brother showed up he was standing there staring at the bottom of the well.

Sango stared at inuyasha "Is the well closed?"

He nodded numbly..

When kagome came too she was in the bottom of the well, she looked up and noticed she was back in her time.

"No.." she climbed up and attempted to jump back down the well, when she landed a sharp pain cut across her stomach, she quickly grabbed her stomach where her pup kicked. She hissed in pain before looking up and realized it didn't work. She began to cry, she made the unselfish wish and it still ripped her away from her friends and her mate..she again climbed up the well.

Upon exiting the well she looked towards home and saw her mothers car. She went into the house and yelled for her mother, Kiki walked into the kitchen seeing her pregnant daughter standing in the kitchen crying

"Kagome what's the matter?" She took hold of her daughter and walked her to the kitchen table and listened to Kagome's story. She didn't know what to say to her she just held her daughter and offered comfort.

"Kagome, sweetie, why don't you go upstairs and take a bath then come down for dinner. I'm sure you and my grandpup are hungry"

Kagome nodded and left to do as her mother suggested, after kagome was out of earshot kiki picked up her phone and dialed a number, not much longer she spoke

"It's me. It's happened, come now. After a few minutes she let out a sigh "fine, if you think that's best…" she picked up a pen and paper "what was it called again?" she wrote out the name that she was told then hung up the phone

Day's past and as the day's past kagome's depression had gotten worse, KiKi knocked on her door. She cracked it open and sat on her daughter's bed.

"Get dressed baby, your appointment in an hour"

Kagome nodded and had gotten up, before long the girls had left the house. After driving through town they came upon a hospital one kagome hadn't heard about.

"Mom, what is this place?"

KiKi looked at her daughter, it's a maternity hospital. Hurry now so we aren't late for your appointment"

The girls walked in, her mother had signed her in and sat beside her. After a while they were called back. Kagome sat as they drew blood to check on her child then followed them into a dark room to get an ultrasound for the baby. In walked a raven hair woman, her long hair pulled back into a twisted bun and a mask on her face. Kagome wasn't paying attention, her mind focusing on the pup's heartbeat and her mind thinking of Sesshomaru, he was missing this…she now had to give birth and raise their child alone. It wasn't until the woman spoke that Kagome looked up…it couldn't be..could it…

"Congratulations Miss Higurashi, you're carrying twins. Would you like to know what your having?:"
