Chapter 14

The question made a twinge of pain race through kagome's heart. This wasn't fair. Sesshomaru should be here with her holding her hand while they watched the babies move, he should be here so she could watch his face light up at the sound of their heart beats.

Kagome looked back at the girl and with a sad smile nodded softly.

The woman smiled behind the mask as she twisted the screen to show Kagome her pup's.

She pointed to one "this little soccer player is a girl and from the looks of it. A very strong and active girl." She then pointed to the next one "and this one is a boy"

Kagome smiled; she was having twins, she stared at her growing stomach as tears rolled down her face. She felt the lady move the wand some more.

"Ohhhh, well hello there" she spoke in surprise

Kagome jerked her head up to see two more pups snuggled tightly together hidden behind their siblings against her back. Some more movement before the woman again pointed at the pups

"It looks like both of these sneaky loves are girls. Congratulations Miss Higurashi. Three girls and a boy."

Kagome gasped in surprise "but i thought you said i was having twins"

The woman smiled lovingly "I did, but you had two more hidden. I know it's a lot to process at the moment, but all four babies look healthy and are growing perfectly. Congratulations, it's Quadruplets."

They finished up her appointment, gave her the ultrasound pictures and sent her back out to her mother and promptly took the pictures and Squealed her excitement about her new grandchildren. She noticed Kagome's somber look.

"What's the matter sweetie"

Kagome shook her head "not here mom..I'll talk to you about it in the car"

Kiki didn't say anything, she nodded her head and held her daughter as they got her new appointment and left. The ride home was quiet since she didn't want to push her daughter.

It's been days since the appointment and Kagome still hadn't spoken to Kiki, she just sat in her room and cried. Occasionally coming out to eat or puke. Kiki had enough. Something had to be done.

She called up the stairs to Kagome and told her she'll be back in a few hours, she put her jacket on and left the house. After a long ride out into the countryside she finally came to a large house, she made her way up the long driveway that was decorated along the sides with orange rose bushes. A foreign flower but it was beautiful nonetheless, she put her car in park and looked around the property. The massive pond adorned with lily pads and water flowers, miles and miles of bright green grass for as far as the eye could see. On the back of the house you could catch a small glimpse of the garden. She walked up the staircase onto a marble white porch and knocked on the cherry wooden doors.

It had been years since the well had closed and Kagome had disappeared from their lives. The children had grown and despite the encouragement Sesshomaru never took on another mate, there were none who could hold a candle to his Kagome. She was everything he needed and more, as promised he continued to care for Shippo as if he was Sesshomaru's blood.

Eventually the time came for Rin to be married, by chance one day she had come across a handsome male in the marketplace while she was looking for medication for the castle. This male was tall, slender but muscular. His dark chestnut hair swished from side to side glowing in the sun as if it was drinking all of the rays the sun had to offer. When he turned around and faced Rin his face was tanned beautifully..but one feature struck her odd. He was a part of the wolf demon tribe. He had normal human ears and no tail in sight but his fangs were poking out as he smiled.

Sesshomaru walked around the gardens. On the same day at the same time every year, on the anniversary of Kagome leaving the feudal era, he would walk to Kagome's favorite spot in the entire gardens and sit on the hillside watching the world around him move. It Infuriated him to see the world still spinning..to see life carry on as if his Kagome had never existed.

Today was like every year before, he would sit here by himself longing for his mate and pup. He wondered if she was still alive..in her time…if the pup was healthy. He wondered how many there were and what they grew to be. Unaware that it had only been a few months in her time, it was years in his. He would catch himself growling viciously when the thought of another man with his arms wrapped around her where his used to be. Another man raising his pup. He longed for nothing more than his family to finally be complete again.

"Sesshomaru!"

The lord of the west turned towards the annoying mutt who dared interrupt him. Not saying a word he raised his brow in question.

"You know. It's been years since we've all seen Kagome…"

Sesshomaru interrupted him in the middle of his sentence. "So?."

"So. You major dumbass. It's only been a few months in her time, if we survive. If we learn to hide our demon natures there is a chance we'll see Kagome again in her time. There are no demons in her time but that doesn't mean they all died out, maybe we can change history and learn to conceal our nature"

This intrigued Sesshomaru. The chance to see his beloved again, to hold her and their pup..he simply nodded.

A few months passed since Kagome found out about the gender of her pups..she rubbed her big belly as the pups kicked. She thought long and hard about names, which names would Sesshomaru pick. She had decided to go out today and walk around, she needed the exercise.

As she was walking the shrine grounds she walked up to the sacred tree, memories of inuyasha pinned flooded her mind, and slowly one by one memories of every smile, every fear and every tear she shared with her friends and sesshomaru came to mind, one by one. She dropped to her knees and began sobbing loudly. Heartfelt sobs that had echoed through the valley.

Kiki had pulled into the driveway, hearing her daughter's cries she went in search of her.

standing on the balcony watching the sunset, the wind blowing in his silver hair, the smell of salt assaulting his nose. sesshomaru focused on the sounds of his mate crying for him. For her friends, for the life they use to share with their friends.

"It's too soon koi, soon i will have you both in my arms again" he let out a sigh and stared at the ground below him continuing to listen to kagome.
