Charlotte opened the door to her sister's room and quietly tip toed inside, going to her bed. She then poked Sophie lightly.
"Sophie, wake up." Charlotte whispered with a smile. "Wake up, sleepy red head it's your birthday! You're 2!"
Sophie whined a bit but opened her eyes.
"Sar?" She asked.
"Happy birthday Sophie!" Charlotte said with a grin.
"Yay!" Sophie clapped her hands.
"I love you, Sophie." Charlotte, climbing on her bed and hugging her sister. "Happy birthday!"
"Yaay! Appy!" Sophie said.
"Come on! Let's go wake mommy and mamma!" Charlotte said.
"Yay, go go!" Sophie got out of her bed and the two sisters ran out of Sophie's room.
"Mommy! Mamma!" Charlotte said, running in and climbing on the bed before helping Sophie. "Wake up, it's Sophie's birthday!"
"Yaay! Appy, appy!" Sophie jumped on the bed and clapped.
"Happy birthday, Sophie!" Beca said, hugging Sophie and kissing her all over her face. "You're so big!"
"Happy birthday, baby!" Chloe said, hugging Sophie after Beca.
"Guess who was up until 2 last night baking a cake?" Beca asked.
"You baked a cake?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah, a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting." Beca said.
"Yay! Can we have it for breakfast?" Charlotte asked.
"Well, it's Sophie's cake, so you're gonna have to ask her." Beca said.
"Can we have your cake for breakfast?" Charlotte asked Sophie. "We promise we won't eat it all, we just want a bite."
"Otay." Sophie said. "I want cake."
"Okay, so let's go." Beca said and the family followed her to the kitchen.
Beca took her hidden cake out of the oven and placed it on the table.
"Do we need candles?" Beca asked.
"We must have candles mommy, it's Sophie's birthday." Charlotte said.
Beca laughed and Chloe went to the cupboard and took two pink candles. She put it on the cake and helped Sophie up on a chair before lighting the candles.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Sophie, happy birthday to you!" Chloe, Beca and Charlotte sang before they clapped and Sophie tried blowing the candle, but couldn't because she didn't actually blow, it was as if she was saying what sound the letter F made.
"Can I help you, Sophie?" Charlotte asked.
Sophie nodded and Charlotte helped her blow the candle and everybody clapped again.
"Now cake!" Beca said, cutting the cake into pieces.
Sophie used her spoon to eat the cake, using her finger to push the cake onto the spoon before eating it.
"Good!" Sophie said. "Good cake!"
"Is it?" Beca asked.
Sophie nodded.
"Thanks baby." Beca smiled.
"And do you know who's coming over for dinner?" Chloe asked.
Sophie shook her head.
"Aunt Aubrey, Aunt Stacie and Joel. Do you know what we're gonna have for dinner?" Chloe asked.
Sophie shook her head again.
"It's something you love." Chloe said.
"It's two somethings you love." Beca added.
"Good aca moly?" Sophie grinned.
"Yes, that's one!" Chloe said. "And what else?"
"Peponi pita!" Sophie said.
"Yes!" Beca said.
"Yaay!" Sophie grinned.
Beca and Chloe smiled and kissed the top of her head each.
"We're gonna give you your present at dinner." Chloe said.
"Otay." Sophie said.
"But Beca, your birthday present just got here!" Chloe said.
"My birthday present?" Beca asked with a frown.
Beca's birthday was on November 5th so they celebrated with their parents since they were in Georgia, but they didn't have time to give her a gift.
"Yeah, I've been looking for it ever since we came back." Chloe said.
"I wanna give it to her, mamma!" Charlotte said.
"Me too!" Sophie said.
"Then let's go get it! Babe you stay here." Chloe said, taking her two daughters upstairs.
Beca chuckled and shook her head.
The three came back and Sophie and Charlotte were holding a rather big bag which surprised Beca.
"Oh my God, what is it?" Beca asked.
Charlotte and Sophie gave her the bag.
"Open it, mommy!" Charlotte said.
Beca opened the bag and gasped when she saw what was inside. She looked up at Chloe and slowly took the stuffed animal out of the bag.
"It's a red panda!" Beca squealed.
"It's so cute mommy!" Charlotte said.
Beca squealed and hugged the stuffed red panda tight.
"I love it!" She said.
"I knew you would." Chloe chuckled.
Beca grinned and kissed Chloe softly.
"Thanks baby." She smiled.
"You're welcome." Chloe smiled back.
"And thank you girls." Beca said to their daughters.
"You're welcome mommy!" Charlotte grinned and hugged her mom.
Beca kissed her daughters' cheeks and hugged her stuffed red panda tightly.

Winter break was a week away and Chloe and Beca thought about it and agreed it would fun to go somewhere new, so after Christmas in Atlanta, they were going to Colorado and spend a few days there until New Year's Day.
Charlotte's winter break officially started December 21st and Sophie's daycare was gonna have a week off that week too.
Chloe called Aubrey and asked if her and Stacie wanted to go with them and the two agreed. They were also going to Atlanta for Christmas so they were gonna pack enough bags and leave straight to Colorado once on Christmas Day.
Beca and Chloe took a cab to Beca's father's house. Sophie didn't even wait for her mothers to unload the trunk before she ran up to the front door and knocked on it. She then skipped in place as she waited for her grandfather to open the door, but to her surprise, Diane opened it.
"Sophie!" Diane said with so much excitement it seemed she was seeing her for the first time in years.
"Hi!" Sophie said, throwing herself in her grandma's arms.
"It's so nice to see you baby!" Diane said with a smile. She then moved closer to the toddler's ear and whispered, "I heard it was your birthday a couple weeks ago."
"Yes!" Sophie said.
"Guess who's gonna get a birthday present." Diane said with a wink.
"Me?" Sophie asked.
"Yes, you!" Diane said. "Why don't we go help mommy and mamma?"
"No. Pesent!" Sophie threw her arms up with a grin.
"You sneaky little lady!" Diane said. "We gotta help your mothers, then I'll give you your gift."
Sophie pouted but Diane walked towards the can and her daughter and daughter-in-law and put Sophie down to greet them.
They moved inside and just placed their jackets in the closet by the door while they got warm.
"Hey mom, what are you doing here?" Beca asked.
"Your father said you were getting in today so I came here to see you guys." Diane smiled. "We're going out to dinner all of us, including your parents, Chloe."
"Oh that's nice!" Chloe said.
"And I wanted to give Sophie her birthday present." Diane said with a grin at Sophie, who started jumping up and down and clapping in excitement.
"Pesent?" Sophie asked.
"Come on, let's see what it is." Diane said.
"Yaaay!" Sophie said as she followed her grandmother.
Chloe and Beca chuckled and took their bag upstairs while Charlotte followed them.
Diane handed a medium sized box to Sophie and sat her on the couch so she could open it.
Sophie tore the present open and grinned when she found a mini oven in it, like a bag.
"Did you see it baby? Now you can be just like mommy and mamma, you can cook too!" Diane said.
Sophie grinned even bigger.
"Fank you!" Sophie said.
"You're welcome baby." Diane smiled.
Chloe came back and smiled when she saw her daughter's present. She had been wanting to give one of those to Sophie for a while now, since Sophie didn't have anything kitchen related and never got around to it.
"This is so cool, Sophie!" Chloe said, sitting next to her daughter.
Sophie showed her the gift and grinned.
"Which one is this?" Chloe asked.
"It's a Leapfrog Number Lovin' Oven. The others were all too big, I figured it would be hard for you to take it home." Diane said.
"Yeah this is perfect!" Chloe said. "Thank you, Diane."
"You're welcome." Diane smiled.
"Mamma open." Sophie said, giving the box to her mother.
"What's the magic word?" Chloe asked.
"Aca-pease." Sophie said.
"Awww!" Chloe said.
Chloe helped Sophie open the present and handed her the smiley oven once it was out of the box.
Sophie hugged the toy affectionately.
"Go show it to mommy!" Chloe said.
"Go go!" Sophie said and got off of the couch to go find her other mother.
Beca was upstairs talking to her father while Charlotte was sitting on his lap.
"Mommy!" Sophie said as she came in with a huge proud grin on her face.
"Oh my God what's that you're holding?" Beca asked.
"Pesent!" Sophie grinned.
"Oh for me?" Beca joked, making her father and oldest daughter laugh.
Sophie made her mad face and shook her pigtailed head.
"My." Sophie said.
"Oh." Beca smiled. "Show me, show us."
Sophie grinned and showed her gift to her grandpa and sister. Then she sat on the ground and put the oven down. She opened the oven and gasped when she saw there were things inside.
"Mommy!" Sophie said with a surprised look on her face. She looked inside and grabbed a pizza divided in pieces and showed it to her mother with a 'ah!' noise.
"A pizza?!" Beca said.
"Pita!" Sophie said.
Sophie then grabbed a plastic bread and showed it to her mother with another 'ah!' noise. Then she grabbed a frying pan with an egg and grinned widely before turning to her sister and grandpa.
"This is so cool, Sophie!" Beca said.
"You can cook for us!" Charlotte said.
"Yes!" Sophie said and showed them two cupcakes that also came with the set.
"I loved it." Beca smiled.
"Me too!" Sophie said.
"How about we all go downstairs and Sophie can cook us something?" Ethan suggested.
"Yeah! Let's go!" Beca said.
Beca helped Sophie put everything back in and they went downstairs to the living room.
Sheila was in a lecture and she would be home in less than an hour and they wanted to wait for her before getting ready for dinner.
"Sar, go go." Sophie said with a smile to her sister.
Charlotte looked confused and looked at her redheaded mother so she could translate.
"What do you want from Char, Sophie?" Chloe asked.
"Go food." Sophie said.
"Oh you want her to give us the food you're gonna cook?" Chloe asked.
Sophie nodded with a grin.
"So you want her to be your waitress?" Chloe clarified.
"Yes!" Sophie said.
"What do you say, Char?" Chloe asked Charlotte, who was sitting on her lap this time.
The brunette girl shook her head and sat further down her mother's lap with a frown.
Chloe and Beca were finding her behavior odd, since they got out of the plane. She was quiet and wasn't into playing and she was a bit whiney.
"Honey do you want grandpa to put you down for a nap?" Beca asked softly.
Charlotte looked at her grandfather and nodded, throwing herself in his arms, laying her head on his chest.
"It's been quite a while since I last put you down for a nap." Ethan smiled at his granddaughter as he rubbed her back softly.
"How much time?" Charlotte asked.
"About 5 years." Ethan smiled.
"Wow!" Charlotte said.
"Sar?" Sophie pouted.
"It's okay baby, Char is tired. She's gonna take a little nap before dinner but she'll play with you tomorrow." Beca said.
Sure their flight hadn't been early in the morning but it was always tiring, for adults and children, so it was understandable that Charlotte was tired. They were gonna go out for dinner so it was okay for her to take a nap.
"Mommy pay?" Sophie asked with a pout.
Beca smiled and decided to play with Sophie. Se rarely liked to play alone. After all, Sophie definitely had the Beale gene for human contact, she rarely liked doing this alone or not having some sort of human contact.
"Okay, am I the waitress then?" Beca asked.
"Yes." Sophie said.
"Okay." Beca then walked — on her knees — over to her wife. "What would you like to eat, miss?"
"What about me?" Diane asked.
"You're the next customer." Beca said and Diane nodded with a smile.
Chloe put her hand on her chin and pretended to think.
"I would love a slice of pizza." Chloe said.
"As your entrée would you like to order anything?" Beca asked.
"Some bread." Chloe said. "And for dessert a lovely cupcake."
"Okay." Beca said and walked — again on her knees — back to Sophie and told her what Chloe wanted even though Sophie heard.
Sophie then put the bread in the oven and waited for a few seconds before she put it on a place and handed to her mother.
Then Sophie put the pizza in the oven and waited, turning the colorful number on top of the oven to 5.
Beca returned with the plate and smiled at Sophie.
"She loved the bread, Chef." Beca said.
"Pita!" Sophie said, opening the oven and putting one slice of the pizza — one that had mushrooms, olives and broccoli on it — on a plate. "Bolli pita."
"Okay." Beca said and then went over to Chloe. "This is a broccoli pizza, ma'am."
"Oh yum!" Chloe said and pretended to eat while Sophie watched curiously. "This is delicious! Tell your chef I love it!"
Beca smiled and nodded and Sophie grinned and blushed, bringing her hands to her face in a toddler-y way.
"She loved the pizza, Chef!" Beca said when she returned with the plate.
"Yay!" Sophie said. She then put a cupcake in the oven and waited.
"I'm next!" Diane said with a smile.
Sophie took the cupcake from the oven and put it in the same plate where the pizza was.
"Go go." Sophie said.
Beca then handed the cupcake to Chloe and went back to Sophie.
"Now I should attend the next customer." Beca said and Sophie nodded.
Ethan came back but didn't sit down because his wife came through the door. He smiled and kissed her before she looked in the living room.
"Wow we have a restaurant in here?" Sheila said.
"Yes and we have a wonderful chef." Beca smiled.
"Where's Charlotte?" Sheila frowned.
"She was tired, she's taking a nap." Chloe explained.
"Oh okay." Sheila said.
"Pita?" Sophie asked Sheila, pointing her oven.
"Oh sweetie, I'm gonna take a shower now but I'm gonna want a slice of your delicious pizza after that, okay?" Sheila said.
"Otay." Sophie said.

To her surprise, Charlotte got a tea set for Christmas so her and Sophie played restaurant all the time during their stay in Atlanta.
When Chloe revealed they were going to a place full of snow, the girls cheered up.
Chloe and Beca had been to Atlanta for Christmas before when Charlotte was little but after Sophie was born they preferred staying in California because it was easier for them and it was easy for their parents to travel.
Charlotte had seen snow before but she was too little and had never played in the snow so she didn't remember. Sophie had never seen snow before, so they thought it would be a great adventure.
"We going?" Sophie asked her redheaded mother with a confused frown.
"We're going to a place where there's a lot of snow, we're going ice skating, we're gonna build a snowman.." Chloe said and smiled as she watched Sophie's face become filled with happiness and surprise. "Do you want to build a snowman with me?"
"Yes! Yes!" Sophie said and squealed.
Chloe hugged her and kissed the top of her head with a smile.
Once they landed, the girls rented a car and Chloe told the direction while Beca drove. They had asked for a child's seat so Sophie could sit safely.
Their cabin was rather big, it was a two story house, with a big backyard, a creek nearby. The bedrooms and the porch upstairs had a view to a valley and mountains.
There were four rooms upstairs and a very big kitchen with a dining room. It was close to everything, Costco and Target weren't even 10 minutes away.
Aubrey and Stacie weren't getting in until the next day, so the Beale-Mitchell family had a day to themselves.
Diane told the two women the oven she had given Sophie needed batteries so Chloe bought some at the airport. And boy did she wish she hadn't.
Now Sophie would turn it on just to hear it speak and she'd clap when it did. It was cute at first but not after the two hundred times she did it.
Chloe and Beca had a hard time choosing a bedroom, they were all huge, the beds were all huge. They finally chose one and placed their luggages in, deciding to unpack the girls' suitcases before their own.
The girls, they decided, were staying together. There was a smaller room with a king sized bed and that's where they would be staying. Beca and Chloe placed thick blankets around the sides of the bed, since the beds were taller than the girls' beds at home, so they wouldn't get hurt if they fell.
Then they unpacked their clothes and placed them in the wardrobe. They checked if the girls had enough covers on their bed before they placed their toothbrushes and hairbrushes on the bedroom before they left to their own room.
After unpacking, Beca went to the girls' room and saw them playing with Sophie's new oven and Charlotte's new tea set.
"Hey girls, who wants to go to the store?" Chloe asked.
"No, thanks." Charlotte said, drinking her 'tea'. "I'm having pizza and tea."
"What a great combination, Char." Chloe giggled. "But we have to get food and if you two come with us, you can choose what we're gonna have for dinner."
"Oh okay then." Charlotte said. "We have to wear those fluffy coats?"
"Yeah otherwise you'll freeze." Chloe said.
"Yay! I love those coats!" Charlotte said.
"That's great. Let's go." Chloe said. "We also need to get you winter boots."
The two women put their coats on, put coats on their daughters along with gloves, scarves and beanies.
Sophie didn't like to wear all that, she was too tiny so she could barely move under her pink winter coat. She looked like a cute little ball.
When they went outside, they were walking on the snow to get to the car and the two women and Charlotte heard a little noise behind them so they turned and saw Sophie had fallen on the snow and had her little arms out to hold herself up.
"Hey baby, want help?" Beca asked, ready to get her up.
"No." Sophie said. She stood up and threw herself on the snow with a loud giggle. She found it amusing that it was soft and she didn't get hurt.
"You're a dork, Sophie." Charlotte giggled.
Sophie laughed loudly and did it a third time.
"Come on, Soph, we need to get in the car and if you keep doing that you're gonna get snow all over the car." Chloe said.
Beca grabbed Sophie's hand and the toddler tried skipping to the car but she, again, could barely walk, so Beca picked her up and wiped some of the snow off of her coat before putting her on her seat and buckling her up.
It was a little over an hour later when they returned. The two women — with Charlotte and Sophie's help — put the groceries away.
"Who wants to go play in the snow?" Chloe asked grinning widely.
"Me!" Charlotte said with a grin.
"Me!" Sophie said.
"And who wants to build a snowman?" Chloe asked.
"Me!" The girls said again.
"Chloe, we're gonna waste carrots." Beca said.
"Okay, so this is what we're gonna do, girls." Chloe said. "The four of us are gonna build one snowman, okay?"
"Okay."
"Otay."
"Do you wanna join us, baby?" Chloe asked and she had a glow in her eyes which matched Sophie's and Charlotte's.
"Go go, mommy!" Sophie said, jumping up and down in front of Beca.
"Okay, I will, but then I'll come back in early to make some hot chocolate and cookies for us." Beca said.
"Yaay!" Charlotte said.
"We can have a snowball war!" Chloe said.
"YAY!" Charlotte squealed and they ran out to the back, putting on their coats, gloves and etc.
Chloe and Charlotte ran ahead to the backyard to start building the snowman, while Sophie was right behind them and Beca was the last.
One Sophie stepped onto the snow, she walked a few steps before falling again, making a noise similar to the one a person makes when they're hit on the stomach with a ball.
"You okay there, Soph?" Beca asked.
"Yeah otay." Sophie said, standing up the way toddlers do; putting their butt up first.
"Hurry up, mommy, Sophie!" Charlotte said as she helped her redhead mother gather snow to start on the snowman's butt.
Sophie tried running over but, again, she was basically a ball of clothes so she fell on the snow again, but since it was soft, she laughed when she stood up.
The four worked on building a medium sized snowman and they were having a lot of fun. Sophie was throwing herself on the snow more than helping, but they didn't mind. They just told her to stay close.
When it was time to put the carrot and the eyes, Chloe held Sophie and the toddler gently and carefully placed the nose and the eyes and threw her arms up as high as they could go with her winter coat.
"Yay! What's his name?" Chloe asked.
"Olaf." Charlotte said in a 'duh' tone. "You build a snowman, he's gonna be called Olaf, mamma. That's the rule."
"Okay. Just don't let him in if he comes to live, okay? He'll make a mess inside." Chloe said.
"Okay." Charlotte said giggling. "Can we have a snowball war now?"
"Yay! Okay, this is how it's gonna work: we're gonna be in two teams and we have to hit each person on the other team 5 times." Chloe said. "The first team to do that wins."
"Wait, does each member have to hit 5 times or is it 5 times total so—,"
Beca was hit in the face by a snowball, obviously thrown by her wife, who laughed and ran away from her. Beca gasped and immediately made a ball herself and chasing her wife only to be hit by Charlotte.
"Hey!" Beca said while Charlotte laughed.
"That's two, Beca!" Chloe said.
Beca threw a ball and it hit Charlotte, then she dodged a ball thrown by Chloe but didn't dodge another one from Charlotte. She looked back at her teammate and saw Sophie sitting on the snow, throwing it around and laughing.
"Hey Soph, you don't wanna help mommy?" Beca asked.
Sophie stood up and Beca walked towards her.
"You have to make a snowball and throw it either at Char or at mamma." Beca said.
Sophie grabbed a handful of snow and tried running towards her mother, but she fell again. She laughed and stood up, grabbing more snow before getting close to her mother and throwing the snow on her hands on her and it hit Chloe's thigh. She then looked up at Chloe with a smile.
"That was great, baby!" Chloe said.
Chloe was hit in the face by a snowball and glared at Beca, who was laughing.
Chloe and Charlotte obviously won, but it was close. Sophie wouldn't get hit that much because she would fall but she hit Charlotte three times and Chloe twice.
Beca went inside first, as she had said, to make some hot chocolate while Chloe stayed outside some more with the girls.
Chloe took several pictures of the girls in the snow and she got really pretty shots. The two looked like little balls which was very cute. Sophie's cheeks were bright pink as well as her nose, while Charlotte's face was bright red. She got that from her mother.
Sophie's hood had fallen over so now she could see a little less. She would grab and give some snow to her mother with a grin. She was amused, she loved playing in the snow.
"How about we head inside, take a nice hot shower, drink some hot chocolate while mommy and I start making dinner?" Chloe asked.
"Can we watch Frozen?!" Charlotte said. "Because it's perfect, mamma!"
"Of course we can." Chloe said. "Let's go."
Chloe grabbed Charlotte's hand while Sophie stayed behind. She was sitting on the snow, throwing it up and laughing. Of course she didn't wanna live.
"Sophie, come on, it's time to go inside." Chloe called.
Sophie pouted but stood up and walked towards her mother. She tripped but didn't fall.
Chloe wiped the snow off of their clothes before walking inside and as soon as they were out, she put their wet clothes in the laundry room and hung their coats.
"The hot chocolate is almost ready!" Beca announced.
"Do we have time for a quick shower?" Chloe asked.
"Not all of you." Beca chuckled.
"Okay. Char, Sophie, you two are gonna have a shower together." Chloe said. "I'll take one later."
"That's okay, I didn't shower either." Beca said.
Chloe gave her a look while the brunette smirked. She then disappeared upstairs with the girls.
Chloe and the girls returned not 15 minutes later, the girls were wearing fluffy footsies.
The family went to the living room and sat all in one couch to watch Frozen and drink hot chocolate together. The girls' hot chocolates were in nursing bottles because sometimes Charlotte still spilled her drinks.
Halfway through the movie, Chloe finished her hot chocolate and went upstairs to take a shower while Beca stayed with the girls.
"Mommy, what are we gonna have for dinner?" Charlotte asked with a confused look.
"Fondue." Beca said with a smile. "It's cheese with bread."
"Mommy, that's a sandwich." Charlotte said.
Beca chuckled and rolled her eyes.
"Fondue is when you melt the cheese and you grab some special forks and dip the pieces of bread on the cheese." Beca said. "We're gonna have chocolate fondue for dessert."
"That sounds yummy." Charlotte said.
"It is." Beca said. "And it's nothing like sandwiches."
Chloe came when the movie was almost over and Beca immediately stood up.
"My turn, folks!" Beca said, doing a little celebration dance.
"Yaaay!" Sophie said and got off of the couch to dance with her mother.
Beca grabbed Sophie's hands and the little redhead stepped on her mother's feet and the two continued their little dance.
"Beca, your shower." Chloe giggled as she reminded her.
"One minute." Beca said.
"I need help with dinner." Chloe said.
"I'm dancing with this little lady here." Beca said and continued dancing with Sophie.
"Beca Grace.." Chloe started.
"Beca Gay!" Sophie repeated, trying to use the same tone, but failing as she grinned when she said it.
"That's right, Soph. Hey, wouldn't it be cool if that was actually my middle name?" Beca asked.
"Shower, Beca Gay. Now." Chloe said.
"You're so strict, mom." Beca said as she walked past Chloe, receiving a slap on the butt on the way upstairs.
Sophie giggled and hugged Chloe's leg, smiling up at her.
