Leslie was adapting very well to Stratford, she broke out of her shell, made friends, talked about all the things they did in class and all that made her mothers very proud. She was working to her best abilities now, which was great.
Sophie wasn't showing jealousy anymore, she would play with Leslie nicely. Charlotte would mostly retreat to her room, avoiding her little sisters.
One afternoon, Beca came home to find the house empty downstairs except for a noise in the kitchen.
"Chlo? You home yet?" She asked before entering the kitchen.
Leslie was standing on a chair near the stove and she turned it off, before pouring hot water from the kettle onto two mugs.
"Leslie?! What are you doing?!" Beca asked and hurried to her side just as Leslie put down the kettle.
"Sophie and I want some tea." Leslie said. "Nikki said I could get it."
"You meant real tea?!" Beca asked.
"Yeah." Leslie said. "I grabbed some cookies too."
"Leslie you know you're too young to use the stove or the oven." Beca said.
Leslie looked sad and guilty.
"Sorry mommy." She said. "But Nikki said I could."
"That's because Nikki probably thought you meant pretend tea." Beca said.
Leslie still looked guilty.
"I'm glad you didn't get hurt but from now on when you want real tea, ask an adult okay?" Beca asked.
"Yes." Leslie said.
"Go upstairs and play, I'll finish the tea for you." Beca said.
"Thanks mommy." Leslie said and went back upstairs.
Beca stayed with the two while they drank their strawberry tea. She smiled as they pretended to talk like two adults.
"So Roger had to take the kids to school this morning." Sophie said with a voice, holding her mug with her pinky up.
"Oh and how's your daughter? Didn't she have a fever last week?" Leslie asked, using the same voice.
"Whoa? I'm a grandma now?" Beca asked.
"Of course you are, silly mother!" Sophie said. "Julia loves you!"
"You chose your daughter's name? I thought you were gonna name them Sophie Jr and Husband Name Jr." Beca said.
Sophie put her hand on Beca's shoulder.
"Let's face it, mother: I can't name my kids Jr. That's totally unoriginal." Sophie said using the same voice.
Beca bit the inside of her cheeks so she wouldn't laugh.
"Mom? Mom, where are you?" Charlotte asked and spotted her mom in Sophie's room. "Oh, here you are."
"Here comes Auntie Char!" Leslie said. "Sophie, let's get the kids to say hello."
"Kids? Auntie Char?" Charlotte asked as she came in. "What the heck are you two playing?"
"They're playing adults." Beca said. "I'm a grandma! And I'm not even 32 yet!"
Charlotte chuckled.
"Hey mom I was just wondering, can I watch home movies? From when I was little?" Charlotte asked.
"Sure, is there any special reason?" Beca asked.
Charlotte shrugged.
"I was just curious." Charlotte said.
Beca smiled and nodded before standing up.
"Mommy, mommy, we wanna watch them too!" Sophie said.
"What about Roger and the kids?" Beca asked with an eyebrow raised.
Sophie looked down, embarrassed.
"Okay, mommy, I'll tell you the truth: I'm not married and I don't have kids." Sophie said.
Beca and Charlotte gasped.
"No!" They both said.
Sophie nodded.
"It's true." She said. "So can Leslie and I watch the movies with you?"
"Of course guys." Beca chuckled. "Come here, bring your mugs and put them in the kitchen."
They went downstairs, said bye to Nikki, who was leaving, and Beca set the TV.
The movie showed Beca in the hospital, sitting on an armchair holding a very tiny Charlotte, who had a tube up her nose and an IV on her hand.
"Awwww!" Charlotte said. "Wow I was so tiny!"
"Why is Char connected to tubes? Is she okay?" Sophie asked.
Beca chuckled.
"Well, she was gaining weight and she wasn't breathing on her own." Beca said.
"Oh!" Sophie said.
"But she was alright, baby, don't worry." Beca said.
"So mommy, smile at the camera!" a woman said behind the camera and Beca smiled.
"This was the NICU nurse who was taking care of Charlotte. I found out she's still working there, it'd be nice to visit her in our next trip to Atlanta." Beca said.
"Yeah!" Charlotte said.
Next was a clip of Chloe holding baby Charlotte in the hospital. The girl wasn't connected to tubes and she looked like a normal newborn now. Chloe was rocking her from side to side as Charlotte stared up at her.
"Awwww mamma!" Sophie said.
"Mamma holding Char!" Leslie said.
"You weren't together yet right?" Charlotte asked.
"No, that was the first time Chloe came to see you." Beca said.
Charlotte nodded.
"She's beautiful, Beca." Chloe said, looking up at someone off screen. "She looks so much like you."
"Dude you said that like a thousand times!" Beca said, off screen.
"Because she does!" Chloe laughed and looked back down at Charlotte, who was still looking up at her. "Right Charlotte? Did you like my face, is that why you're staring at me?"
Beca on the couch chuckled.
"I think you recognized mamma from a very young age." Beca said to the 13-year-old.
"I did, I knew you'd get together. I'm a little matchmaker." Charlotte said.
The next clip showed Beca coming home with Charlotte, Chloe was holding Charlotte's diaper bag.
"Charlotte, this will be your home for the time being, so welcome home." Beca said, holding the baby seat.
"Grandpa is so happy to have his girls back at home!" Ethan said, obviously holding the camera.
"Chloe is just here because she's nosy and loves being at your side." Beca said to Charlotte, receiving a slap from Chloe.
"Beca, be nice, this welcome home party was Chloe's idea." Ethan said, chuckling behind the camera.
Charlotte chuckled on the couch.
The next clip was from when Charlotte was a little older, probably 2 months old. Beca was holding her and all the Bellas were in her house.
"Let's say hi everyone!" Chloe said behind the camera. Everyone waved, Beca grabbed Charlotte's hand and made her wave. "Today is a very important day, tell us why Becs!"
"Because the Bellas are officially on vacation, we are having an a cappella pool party!" Beca said and the girls cheered loudly, efficiently making Charlotte cry. Everyone tried calming her down, which made the baby laugh.
"Beca's not joining, why not Beca?" Chloe asked.
"Because I have to watch Charlotte." Beca said. "She and I are staying inside."
"I think she could use a little sunshine. Work on her tan." Chloe said, zooming in on Charlotte who looked at the camera with a curious face. "Right baby girl?" Charlotte smiled brightly.
"Oh my God! I was so cute!" Charlotte said.
"You were!" Sophie sat on Charlotte's lap. "You're not on your period, are you?"
"If I was, I wouldn't be sitting on a white leather couch." Charlotte said and Sophie nodded, looking back at the TV. Leslie got jealous so she sat next to Charlotte, holding her waist.
"Alright! Girls, let's start this pool party!" Chloe said and the girls cheered not so loudly this time and they all went outside.
The clip then cut to the girls in the pool, all having fun. The camera zoomed in on Chloe, especially on her very defined abs.
"What do you think of that, Char? Jealous? I am." Beca said behind the camera. "I mean I didn't even lose the baby weight and Chloe's parading that amazing body. Well she is pretty hot."
"Oh my God, mom! I can't believe you said that to me!" Charlotte said.
"Mommy, mamma was on the sun! Of course she's hot!" Sophie said.
"That's not what mom meant by hot." Charlotte said. "In that sense hot means super attractive."
"Oh! Well of course! Mommy and mamma are the hottest women on Earth!" Sophie said, earning a giggle from Charlotte and Beca. "Next to me, of course."
Beca and Charlotte laughed louder.
The door opened and Chloe came in with a tired sigh. She walked in and saw the girls in the living room from the hall.
"What is everyone doing?" She asked curiously.
"We're watching movies from when Char was a baby!" Leslie said with a grin.
"Oh I wanna watch too! Pause and wait for me!" Chloe said, rushing upstairs.
Beca paused and they waited until the redhead came back in more comfortable clothes.
"I'm making popcorn." Chloe announced.
Beca smiled and wrapped an arm around Chloe's waist, pulling her close before she hit play.
The camera showed Charlotte, she was still looking at the camera.
"Are you enjoying today?" Beca asked with a baby voice that immediately made Charlotte smile. "Where's mommy's girl?"
"Awwwww!" Chloe said on the couch. "I miss our baby girls."
"Me too." Beca said.
In the video, Beca moved the camera and it showed Chloe standing in front of her. They were both on the shadow the deck Ethan built when Beca was young provided.
"Hey Char!" Chloe said to the baby.
"Chloe you're soaked!" Beca said.
"Beca, not in front of Charlotte!" Chloe said.
The girls on the couch were confused but their mothers thanked God for that.
"Besides, Charlotte's only wearing a diaper, she can afford to get wet." Chloe said as water from her hair dripped onto Charlotte's belly. The baby blinked each time water dropped on her face.
"Chloe, you're getting Charlotte all wet!" Beca said.
"Will you calm down Drama Mama? I'm not gonna drown her." Chloe said, standing back. "I'll go back in the pool."
Charlotte's eyes teared up and she raised her arms towards Chloe.
"See Beca? She wants me." Chloe said.
"You can't see this but I'm rolling my eyes behind the camera." Beca said to the girls on the couch.
The next clip was from when Charlotte was 5 months old. She was sitting on a blanket on the floor, playing with colorful blocks.
"Char. Char." Chloe whispered from behind the camera. The little girl looked up at her. "Char, we're making a surprise for mommy. Wanna know what it is?"
Charlotte grinned.
"We're going to wake her up and announce to her that I'm officially your mom!" Chloe said and Charlotte laughed loudly, throwing her arms up and down.
"Oh! This is the day the adoption was made official!" Chloe said to the girls.
"What adoption?" Leslie asked.
"Well Chloe wasn't officially Charlotte's mom since we weren't married, so we got the process started when Char was 2 months old." Beca explained to the girls.
Chloe put the camera down, so it only showed the ceiling for a few seconds before the camera was picked up again. Then Chloe and Charlotte came on.
"Smile Char!" Chloe said to the baby and she smiled. "Let's go wake up mommy."
The camera faced front, so they went up the stairs and into Beca's room. She was sleeping peacefully on the queen bed.
"Go there Char. Wake mommy with kisses." Chloe placed Charlotte on the bed and filmed as the baby crawled to her mother and pressed her lips to her mother's cheek a few times before Beca raised her head. Charlotte smiled and laughed, Beca smiled as she sat up and placed the baby on her lap.
"What's all this?" Beca asked sleepily while Charlotte tugged on her shirt, resting her head against her breasts. "Charlotte's hungry."
"Want me to turn the camera away?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, I'm not stripping on camera." Beca said.
Chloe turned away and waited before she focused on Beca again, this time she was nursing Charlotte.
"Well Beca, Char and I just came here to show you this." Chloe handed Beca a paper and the brunette read through it before she looked up at Chloe, tears already streaming down her face.
"So you're officially her mom?" Beca asked.
"Yeah!" Chloe's voice was overexcited and she was probably crying too.
Beca opened her available arm and Chloe lunged for it, turning the camera so it faced them both. It showed them kissing, both crying.
"I'm so happy!" Beca said, cupping Chloe's cheek. "Thank you so much, Chlo."
Chloe smiled.
"I love my girls." Chloe said before kissing Beca again.
"I really do love my girls." Chloe said from the couch, smiling at her daughters and wife.
The next clip was of a 9-month-old Charlotte sitting on a high chair, she was wearing a bib and it was covered in food.
"Charlotte, speak, mommy's coming home from class soon and I want to show her how you said your first word!" Chloe said.
Charlotte didn't say anything she just smiled.
"No! No smile, talk!" Chloe said and Charlotte laughed.
"Already a defiant one." Beca said from the couch, eyeing her oldest daughter, who was laughing.
"Okay Char, I didn't want to play this card but you give me no choice." Chloe said and filmed herself walking somewhere. She waited before she heard the baby crying.
"Chloe! I never saw this!" Beca said, surprised. "You were teaching our daughter to speak using torture?!"
Chloe laughed, kissing Beca's cheek.
"That's bad mamma." Sophie said.
"I wasn't, I was trying to get her to talk, because she was talking up until then. When I started to film she stopped." Chloe explained.
Chloe went back inside the kitchen where Charlotte had the biggest pout and some tears running down her face.
"Ma!" Charlotte said, reaching out her arms.
"That's right! Smart girl! Who am I?" Chloe asked.
"Ma." Charlotte said.
"That's great! Come here!" Chloe said, placing the camera on a place where it showed her picking up Charlotte, who laughed and celebrated when she was in Chloe's arms.
"Ma!" She said.
"Yes!" Chloe said. "That's right baby girl!"
"Mom, can we skip some clips? I wanna watch when I was older." Charlotte asked.
"Sure." Beca asked and fast forwarded to the time where they went to Florida with the Bellas for the first time, Charlotte was 19 months old.
Charlotte was sitting on the floor of her room, wearing pig tails on her very short brown hair.
"Char, tell me." Chloe said behind the camera. "Where are we going?"
"Pane!" Charlotte threw her arms up.
"Yes! Are we going to a beach?" Chloe asked. Charlotte nodded and grabbed her pink shorts, pulling them away from her body, looking surprised.
"Mamma! Diaper!" Charlotte said. Her pronunciation sounded more like "diapah". "No diaper! Whewe diaper?"
"I put a diaper on you." Chloe said, confused.
"No! No diaper!" Charlotte said before looking back down.
"That's because you're looking inside your diaper." Chloe said.
"Oh!" Charlotte said, looking at Chloe with an intrigued look before looking back down.
Charlotte chuckled on the couch.
"I was so freaking cute." She said.
"Yeah you were." Leslie agreed.
The clip cut to when they were on the plane. Chloe was filming Charlotte as she looked down the window.
"Couds!" Charlotte said before turning to Chloe.
"We're above the clouds now." Chloe explained.
Most of the clip was of Charlotte watching the window, which was super cute. Then it cut to Chloe's parents' house. It showed Charlotte wearing a bikini over her waterproof diaper, nothing on top and a hat.
"Where are you going Char?" This time it was Stacie filming her.
"Pool!" Charlotte grinned.
"Do you want me to come too? Can I come too?" Stacie asked.
"Yes! Les go!" Charlotte said, jumping up and down.
"Okay." Stacie said, picking the toddler up and going outside with her.
Stacie placed the camera under the sun umbrella, facing towards the pool. She put Charlotte's floaties on her, entered the pool before holding out her arms for Charlotte and the toddler jumped in her arms.
"I love that diaper clad butt." Beca said.
"Oh yeah cutest thing ever." Chloe agreed.
Next on the TV, it showed Chloe and Beca getting close to the pool. Beca sat down on a beach chair while Chloe joined Stacie and Charlotte in the pool.
"Mamma!" Charlotte grinned and threw herself in Chloe's arms, hugging her.
"Guys I should turn the camera off." Stacie said before getting out of the pool.
The clip then cut off to Charlotte and Stacie drawing in the living room.
"Who's that Char?" Stacie asked.
"Tacie!" Charlotte grinned.
"And this one?" Stacie asked.
"Aubee!" Charlotte grinned again.
"Char, that's the night Stacie confessed to liking Aubrey." Beca explained to her oldest daughter. "Thanks to you."
"Yay!" Charlotte said.
"I wanna see that!" Sophie said.
"We didn't film that baby." Beca said.
Sophie pouted but turned her attention back to the TV.
The clip then cut to Charlotte's second birthday. The house was decorated with pink and white balloons, a banner saying Happy Birthday Charlotte hung in the dining room over the table.
Then the camera showed Chloe sitting on the floor filling up the rest of the balloons.
"Chloe, look at me." Beca said from behind the camera.
Chloe looked up and grinned at her before waving.
"What day is today?" Beca asked.
"Today is April 14th, Charlotte's second birthday." Chloe said. "The Bellas are coming over, as well as our parents."
"Right and we have to wake the princess up from her nap." Beca said. "Wanna go so I can film you?"
"Okay." Chloe set the balloon aside and went inside to Charlotte's room, the camera filming her. Beca then focused the camera down on her butt. "Beca, stop filming my ass."
The three girls on the couch laughed while Chloe shook her head.
"You're a pervert, babe." Chloe said to her wife.
"And you have bionic eyes behind your head." Beca said.
"Sorry." Beca said sheepishly on the TV.
Chloe entered Charlotte's room and saw the girl sleeping in her crib. She approached the crib and gently shook the little brunette.
"Char? Baby? Time to wake up." Chloe said softly.
Charlotte stirred and opened her eyes, rubbing them.
"Hey baby!" Chloe smiled and picked her up. "Who's turning 2 today?"
Charlotte perked up and smiled.
"Me." She whispered.
"That's right! Your party starts in 20 minutes! Let's get dressed?" Chloe asked.
Charlotte was wearing unicorn pjs and she nodded.
"Good." Chloe said and put her down. Beca didn't film when Chloe dressed their daughter but filmed her when she was ready and more awake.
"You look beautiful my girl!" Beca said as she filmed Charlotte.
Charlotte was wearing a baby pink dress and she grinned at the camera.
"Fank you!" She said.
"Let's go downstairs." Beca said and filmed Charlotte skipping ahead of her.
When Charlotte got in the living room and saw the balloons there, she grinned widely.
"Balloons!" She said and ran towards them.
"No Char!" Beca said.
"Char don't!" Chloe spoke at the same time, but the girl ended up hugging a balloon too tight and it exploded. She looked confused.
"Whewe is my balloon?" Charlotte asked.
"It popped." Chloe said. "No more hugging balloons, okay? They're for your party."
"Pawty time!" Charlotte grinned widely and started jumping up and down.
"Yaaaay!" Chloe said as they heard the doorbell ring. Charlotte stopped what she was doing and looked curious.
"Who's there?" Chloe asked.
"Who thewe?" Charlotte repeated.
Charlotte ran to the door followed by Chloe. The girl jumped up and down as Chloe opened the door to reveal Sophia and Mike.
"Hi mom! Hi dad!" Chloe hugged them.
"Hi gandma! Hi gandpa!" Charlotte said jumping up and down.
Beca fast forwarded so it wouldn't show every single guest arriving, then it was time to blow the candles. Chloe held Charlotte, Beca stood next to her with a grin, Stacie was filming.
Charlotte tried blowing the candle, Beca helped her without her seeing and the girl grinned. She then stuck her finger on the cake and licked it clean.
"Char!" Chloe said while laughing.
"Honey you can't do that, you have to wait until we give you your piece." Beca said.
Chloe put her down to clean her finger while Beca cut the cake. Charlotte kept jumping up and down waiting for her cake and when she got it, she sat on the floor to eat it. Chloe laughed, picking her up and carrying her to the living room, sitting her on the couch.
"Mommy, vewy yummy cake!" Charlotte said, face covered in chocolate.
"I'm glad you like it, baby." Beca spoke.
"Mom, skip forward?" Charlotte asked and Beca did.
"Our wedding! Wanna watch?" Beca asked.
"No." Charlotte said.
"Yes!" Sophie and Leslie said.
"Two against one, Char." Beca said and pressed play.
There wasn't much dialogue, mostly it was the brides and Charlotte dancing.
Next came Chloe and Beca on camera, both had puffy red eyes and it was clear they had been crying.
"Today is a very special day." Beca said.
"Indeed it is." Chloe said before turning her camera to face Char, who was sitting on the couch. "Tell us why Char."
"Because I'm gonna be a big sister!" Charlotte announced with a huge grin.
"Oooh! This is when we found out we were pregnant with Sophie!" Beca said.
"Yaaay!" Sophie celebrated on her older sister's lap.
"I was so happy." Charlotte said before hugging Sophie. "I love you Sophie-wofie."
Leslie pouted.
"I love you too, Leslie-weslie." Charlotte hugged Leslie too.
"We love you too, Char." Sophie said. "You're the person who taught me to love boobs!"
Charlotte laughed and they turned back to the TV.
"So we're going to make a very special dinner tonight, no wine for Chloe." Beca said.
"I get wine though." Charlotte said, making her mothers laugh.
They filmed themselves making dinner with Charlotte's help. Then it showed Beca and Chloe talking before it cut to a new clip. This time they were in a doctor's office, Chloe had a gown and she was smiling.
"First doctor's appointment, let's see if we can see our baby girl!" Beca said.
"Yep." Chloe said.
"Are you nervous?" Beca asked as she focused on her wife.
"A little, I can't wait to hear her heartbeat!" Chloe said.
Next their doctor came in and started examining Chloe. Then, a thumping sound filled the screen. Chloe looked back at Beca with tears in her eyes.
"That's the heartbeat." The doctor said.
"Oh my God!" Beca got closer to the screen and filmed it. "It's beautiful."
"Our baby…" Chloe said.
"Mamma, is that my heart?" Sophie asked her mom.
"Yeah." Chloe smiled. "That was the first time we ever heard your heartbeat."
"Wow!" Sophie said. "My heart is still beating, you can hear it."
Chloe and Beca chuckled.
"Yeah, we know. And we love it." Chloe said.
In the TV, the clip cut to Chloe standing in front of a mirror, Beca reflected filming her.
"Raise the shirt! Let's see that baby bump!" Beca said.
Chloe chuckled and raised her shirt to show a baby bump, bigger than the women on the couch expected.
"What month is it?" Beca asked.
"6th." Chloe said before rubbing her belly. "We finally have a name."
"Charlotte chose it, tell us what it is." Beca said.
"Sophie." Chloe said with a smile. "Our baby's name is Sophie. Ooh! She's kicking!"
Beca filmed her hand on Chloe's belly.
"She is!" Beca agreed.
"Char chose my name?" Sophie asked her moms.
"You didn't know that?" Beca asked, confused.
"No." Sophie said. "Nobody told me."
"Awww!" Chloe said.
"I chose your name, Sophie." Charlotte said proudly.
"What inspired you?" Sophie asked her sister.
"I really don't know." Charlotte shrugged.
"That's okay, I love you anyway." Sophie said and hugged Charlotte.
"Of course, Charlotte's first suggestion was Big Bird." Beca said with a chuckle.
"Mommy! You're ruining our moment!" Sophie said with a frown.
"Mommy, who chose my name?" Leslie asked.
"I think I did." Beca said.
"We came up with a lot of different names before landing on Leslie." Chloe said.
"Yeah, Stacie asked Sophie what names she liked but all she said was 'Beca, Chloe, Charlotte and Sophie'." Beca said.
Sophie giggled.
"I'm funny." She said.
Leslie giggled.
"Who chose Char's name?" Leslie asked.
"I did, of course." Beca said. "I thought of Princess Diaries and Hellcats."
"What? Why couldn't you have named me Mia then?" Charlotte asked.
"You would want to be called Amelia? Clarisse?" Beca asked knowingly. Her daughter went quiet. "Didn't think so."
"Look! Look! Char is feeling Sophie kick!" Chloe cut them off.
In the TV, Charlotte had her small hand on Chloe's belly and she was talking to it.
"... and when you grow up, I can play dolls with you." She said. "Not with Charlotte, she's mine."
"Will you teach her to dance?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah!" Charlotte said. "And sing, and run, and jump!"
"And will you change her diapers?" Chloe asked.
Charlotte made the cutest disgusted face.
"No! That's not my job!" Charlotte said.
Chloe and Beca laughed in the video and on the couch.
"What about when you have a baby?" Beca asked.
"I'll call you and mamma." Charlotte said proudly.
"So you'll never change a diaper?" Beca asked.
"No, of course not!" Charlotte said as if it was an absurd idea.
The women laughed again, both in the TV and the couch.
"Charlotte you were a piece." Beca said.
"I really was." Charlotte said.
"You didn't want to change my diapers?" Sophie asked with a pout.
"Did you want to change Leslie's?" Charlotte asked.
"Yes! I helped mamma and mommy sometimes." Sophie said.
"That's true." Beca said.
"Well sorry Soph." Charlotte chuckled.
The next clip was when Chloe was very pregnant. It was the baby shower. There was no dialogue in particular except for when Charlotte came to explain what was happening, what she was doing and stuff.
Stacie filmed as Beca and Chloe opened their gifts with Charlotte's help and guessed them all. Charlotte was also given a gift.
The next clip was of them in the hospital, after Sophie was born.
"Chlo, Stacie, Aubrey and Char are coming." Beca said as she filmed Chloe holding newborn Sophie. "Let's see Sophie."
Beca filmed baby Sophie, who was sleeping peacefully in her mom's arms.
"She's beautiful!" Chloe said.
"She really is." Beca said. "She's really pink, too."
"I was so cute! I was all wrinkled!" Sophie said.
"Mommy is right, you were very pink." Leslie said.
They looked back to see a nurse taking Sophie away. After a few minutes, Aubrey and Stacie came in with Charlotte, who was anxious to see her newborn sister.
After Sophie came back, Beca asked Stacie to film and she did film Charlotte talking to her little sister, showing her a photo album.
"Awwww!" Charlotte hugged Sophie again.
"I wish I was there too." Leslie said.
