One day after Davids arrival:
Awakening within the room he was given David rose. As he looked around he found it hard to believe he was in Hell. He then saw the gift given to him by the ruler of hell and picked up the mask. For a moment David was entranced by the mask but a knock on his door had got his attention.
Before the door opened he put the mask on. Once on his skin turned an ashen grey. The door opened to reveal one of Lucifer's servants. David turned to see the servant and was a bit surprised to see a nervous imp standing by the door.
Servant: Your finally awake.
David: Forgive me if I over slept. Kind of a rough start when you deal with bloodthirsty angels.
Servant: I heard. It's actually surprising that you survived at all.
David: I tend to have that effect on people. So, your here to tell me Lucifer wants to speak to me or something else.
Servant: Lord Lucifer has asked me to retrieve you as he has a busy schedule.
David: No doubt to deal with the other rulers of hell. Very well, but let me get ready first. It's my first day and I would like to make a good impression.
The imp nodded and left the room. David went to gather his new cloths and entered the bathroom. It didn't take long for him to freshen up as everything was similar to what he was acquainted with on earth. It actually still surprised him how it all was. Then again most of Hell's residence were once humans.
Once he exited the bathroom he made his way to the door of his room. Standing outside was the same imp from before.
Servant: Good your finally ready.
David: Not quite.
David got a good distance from the imp so as not to harm him. He then summoned his armor. As he did the imp watched in shock as David was surrounded by a sphere of light. He then saw David get engulfed by purple tendrils that covered his entire body followed by the armor itself. The sphere of light faded leaving only the armored bodyguard of Lucifer.
David: Now I'm ready.
The imp who was still a little stunned didn't say anything and just lead David to where he needed to go.
A few minutes later:
The two arrive in front of a large set of doors.
Servant: This leads to the dining hall where his grace and his family are currently.
David: Thanks. I'll be sure to tell them what great help you've been.
As the imp left David walked up to the door. Before entering he uses the sensors on his head to detect what maybe in the dining hall. Thankfully there were only Lucifer and his family within. He opened the door and was greeted by the ruler of Hell itself.
Lucifer: I see you finally decided to join us. Not a good look to be late on the first day.
David just rolled his eyes and walked over to his new employer who was sitting at the head of a large table.
David: So what is on today's agenda?
Lucifer: A simple gathering is all. And it would do you well to address me by my station.
David: And where's the fun in that.
This earned a chuckle from Lucifer.
Lucifer: Your very bold, but remember our deal.
David: How can I forget. So tell me, who should I keep an eye on when your "guests" arrive.
Lilith: There's nothing to worry about dear. It's merely a social gathering.
David: Forgive me for being cautious. But we are in Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the other rulers tried stabbing eachother in the back.
Lucifer: Now it's not that simplistic. There is more to it then how you believe.
David: Considering where I landed myself, I would actually like to see how things are truly done here.
Lucifer: Then you won't have to wait long. As was said we are having a gathering today in which you'll see how things go.
Time skip:
It was about a good hour before the arrival of the guests. David couldn't help but be surprised by the appearance of the guests which ranged from humanoid to resembling beasts. He even gotten some looks from said guests which ranged from interest to the same way they looked at the imps.
Throughout most of the gathering David leaned against the wall and kept an eye out for trouble. He was soon approached by the princess who he encountered only twice.
David: Something wrong?
Charlie: No just checking to see if you were alright.
David: No need princess, I'm just not used to such gatherings.
Charlie: You did seem off put by it when dad mentioned it.
David: Considering my old profession, I'm not exactly in my best element.
Charlie: What did you do before you died?
David: I di- never mind. I used to hunt down demons.
Charlie: Really?
David: Your father didn't tell you?
Charlie: No, only that we got a new bodyguard.
The two then heard what sounded like a goat. They looked down to see two goat demons.
David: Friends of yours?
Charlie: Yes, this is Razzle and Dazzle. They are also my families bodyguards.
David raised an eyebrow when the two bahed with a smile.
David: I take it their stronger then they look.
To which Charlie nodded.
David: Note to self try not to die from laughter.
Before either could continue their conversation they were approached by a demon who wore a green suit and top hat with eyes and teeth.
Charlie: Oh no.
David: You know him?
Charlie: He's my ex.
David: Stick close then kid.
???: Charlotte, it's been some time.
Charlie: Seviathan.
Seviathan: Now there's no need to be like that. Besides it's not like you didn't enjoy our time together.
David cleared his throat getting the attention of Seviathan.
Seviathan: And you are?
David: Someone you should be careful around.
This earns a laugh from the demon. He soon stopped as he got a better look at the person in front of him.
Seviathan: I recognize you. Your the one who fought the exterminators out in the open.
Charlie: What!
This got the attention of a few of the other demons.
David: Is it really that surprising?
Seviathan: It is if you come out alive. Then again the footage could have been false.
David: I highly doubt anyone in hell could've been capable of falsifying such an event.
Seviathan: Sorry, but I find it hard to believe you survived such an encounter. Much less actually had been there.
David didn't respond save for activating his right arm blade. This earned a few gasps and mutters from the other demons. Some believed that there might be a fight between the two. Soon enough a large hellhound stood between the two and baring his teeth at David. The hellhound ironically was larger then him and bore white fur like a certain werewolf.
David: You sure you want to do this? I'd hate to skin someone's pet dog.
This caused the hellhound to throw a punch at him. David managed to dodge the punch and swiftly moved in closer. As the fight started those around the two gave them space and watched to see who might come out on top. The hellhound attempted to hit David but continued to miss. As he continued dodging David saw the hellhound get increasingly agitated. The hellhound threw another punch but he didn't dodge. Instead he caught the hellhound's fist with his right hand. David proceeded to crush the hellhound's fist and pulled him close. He then smashed his elbow and knee on the hellhound's arm breaking it at the elbow.
The hellhound cried in pain but was swiftly silenced when David slammed the back of his fist against the hellhound's head sending him flying into a wall. This actually surprised some of the demons as they did not expect someone of David's size to send the large hellhound flying. The hellhound struggled to stand do to the pain he was in. Not only was his arm broken, but when David slammed the back of his fist against his head he had caused the hellhound's eye to burst leaving an empty and bleeding eye socket. Before he could do anything David was standing in front of the hellhound.
David: If your smart you'll stay down.
David turned from the wounded hellhound and began to return to where he stood before. But he soon heard growling and soon enough he felt pressure in his shoulder. David looked to see the hellhound had clamped his jaws on left shoulder. Thankfully the hellhound's teeth couldn't penetrate his armor. David activated his left arm blade and began to stab the hellhound. It took twelve stabs to get the hellhound to let go of him. David turned around and decided to end the display by plunging his right fist into the hellhound's chest and tore out his heart. Beneath his helmet David couldn't help but smile at the thought of finally killing Dante. Thanks to the hellhound he now had a wonderful idea of it.
Once the hellhound's lifeless body fell David crushed the heart that was in hand. He soon a heard a few claps from the guests who no doubt enjoyed his display. However once he turned to face the crowd David saw Charlie and the look of disappointment she had. It surprised David to see this in someone who was the child of Lucifer and he didn't know how to feel about this.
Time skip:
Once the guests were gone David went to find Lucifer to speak about what had happened. As he walked the halls he couldn't shake the feeling he had when he saw Charlie. He didn't know what to make of it since he found her reaction to be out of place. Especially given since they were in Hell. It was definitely something he'd have to look into at another time.
He was soon taken from his thoughts when he heard the sound of footsteps. David turned to see who it was and saw Lilith. He still found it interesting that neither Lilith nor Lucifer were as he had expected since there were many tales of the two. When Lilith came to him, David actually had to look up do to her height.
David: Your grace.
Lilith: There's no need for that. Lilith will do.
David: As you'd like. Is there something you wanted?
Lilith: Simply to get to know our new guard.
The two soon began to walk the halls.
Lilith: I take it your first day has gone well?
David: Forgive me Lilith. But I never imagined I'd would be serving your family.
Lilith: Is that so?
David: Before my arrival I was a demon hunter. So you could understand how I felt when I met your husband.
Lilith: Yet you chose to hear him out. Not many in your line of work would have done so.
David: That's because I'm not stupid. Only a fool would tempt fate by challenging Lucifer.
Lilith: A wise decision. But I feel that there is more to it.
David: There is. But it is a private matter.
Lilith nodded in understanding. It was then David chose to finally asked something that was on his mind.
David: Lilith, tell me about your daughter?
Lilith: Why? Your not planning anything are you?
David: No. I'm merely curious as she seems different then what I would expect from the daughter of Lucifer.
Lilith: Different how?
David: After I put down Seviathan's bodyguard, I noticed she was not as pleased as the others. She was in fact disappointed at such a display.
At this Lilith only frowned.
Lilith: Charlie is, special. She's what you would call a black sheep.
This caused David to stop in his tracks.
David: What your telling me is she's just a nice person then.
Lilith: Yes. Sadly this is cause for doubt in how she will eventually lead.
David: Is it really that bad?
Lilith: As a mother I'll love her no matter what. But things will be hard for her as you no doubt know of how those in Hell are.
David: Killers, rapist and all around degenerates. I've had my share back in the living world, but here is a different story.
Lilith nodded.
Lilith: I won't claime to be a good person. But I do my best as a mother and would do anything to help Charlie.
David couldn't help but be reminded of his own parents. It was a little odd, for most demons he had encountered before his arrival were what one would think of a demon. But it would seem he had a lot more to learn about his new home.
Some time had passed with Lilith leading David to where Lucifer was. Once they reached their destination the two were greeted to Lucifer playing a fiddle. David found the sight a bit cliche and just rolled his eyes. Once Lucifer was finished he turned to David and Lilith.
Lucifer: Ah, there you are. I do hope you found things to be, different then what you expected.
David: Indeed, though not by much.
Lucifer: Oh?
David: Despite how things are done, this is still Hell. Home to sinners and demons alike.
Lucifer: And you have issue with this?
David: This might come as a surprise but no. I've met many demons in my time. Some became allies and showed they could coexist without causing issues.
Lucifer: And those who didn't?
David: They were never heard from again.
This got a chuckle from Lucifer.
Lucifer: It would seem I chose correctly when I brought you back.
David was about to ask Lucifer what he meant. But something caught his attention and put him on guard. Outside of Lucifer's office window a black feather was seen falling. Immediately David's sensors began to move about which earned a curious look from Lilith. This was the first time both Lucifer and Lilith saw this and made them wonder what the cause was. Without saying anything David bolted out of the room and began to make his way outside.
It took David a few minutes to reach a balcony. It was then he spotted the very one who he was after. Standing on the same balcony garbed in a dark hooded and tattered robe was the same demon David had dragged into Hell with, Akuma.
Akuma: I wondered when we'd meet again.
David then activated his right arm blade ready to fight Akuma. However Akuma opened his robe to show he was holding one of the imp maid.
Akuma: Now now, we don't want any unfortunate casualties do we?
David: What do you want?
Akuma: Simple, To keep you on your guard. After all we still have a fight to finish.
David: Then why take a hostage?
Akuma: Think of it as a reunion. I would like nothing more then to continue where we left off. But now is not the right time.
David was trying his best to control his anger. His memory of their last encounter was still fresh and how it pained him to leave everything behind to keep Akuma imprisoned.
Akuma: Sadly as much as I like nothing more then end you, this is not where our confrontation shall be.
Akuma then threw the imp at David who caught the imp in his arms. When he looked to where Akuma once was the demon was gone. He placed the imp down and contemplated on what Akuma was planning. It bothered him as this ment he would have to keep an eye out for his foe.
It wasn't long till Lucifer appeared.
Lucifer: I do hope you have an explanation.
David: Simply put, I just saw the son of a bitch who got me here.
Time skip:
David was in his room currently trying to clear his mind from what had happened. He explained to Lucifer about Akuma and how it was he that David was after. Now he would have to keep a sharp eye out for the demon whom he was stuck with.
Sighing in frustration David rose from his bed and put on his mask. He then made his way out of his room to get some fresh air. It was a few minutes till he found his way to one of the balconies of the mansion. As he stood out on the balcony he felt the refreshing breeze pass by. But before he could properly relax he heard the unmistakable sound of someone singing. David looked around to see where it was coming from. He soon found the source when he saw Charlie on another balcony. For a moment he just stood silently listening to her sing.
He didn't know why but as he listened he could not help but feel something for the princess of Hell. Sadly despite his feelings he could not forget his purpose here or the fact he would eventually try to find a way out of Hell when Akuma is dealt with. With a sigh David returned inside and made his way to his room.
