Chapter 5: Finish With A Bang

Not long after the little conversation between Rouge and Star, the audience was back and waiting for the hedgehog of the night to come back out and finish her performance. Sonic and his friends, along with Shadow and Rouge after the bat had insisted that they join the small group, were standing amongst the crowd of humans, most of them excited for the show to continue, especially waiting for the surprise Star had mentioned.

Finally, the female blue hedgehog walked out onto the stage, earning the riled cheers of the

crowd. Star smiled, pride bursting through her from the applause of so many people who were all out here to hear her sing. She looked down to Sonic, smiling even brighter when she saw him watching her with excitement, cheering along with the crowd.

"Thank you all so much!" Star called to the cheering crowd. "I hope you're ready to hear some more awesome music because for this second half we're switching it up a bit. These next few songs are going to be a mixture of pop and rock. If you've been a fan of my music for a while, you'll know exactly what I mean. If you're just tuning in for the first time, well first of all welcome to my show and I hope you've been enjoying it so far. So, without further ado, here's the first song of the second half, Every Time We Touch."

Immediately, over half of the crowd went nuts before upbeat pop music resonated through the speakers of the stage and Star started to sing once more.

"I still hear your voice when you sleep next to me. I still feel your touch in my dreams. Forgive me my weakness, but I don't know why. Without you, it's hard to survive. 'Cause every time we touch, I get this feeling. And every time we kiss, I swear I could fly. Can't you feel my heart beat fast? I want this to last. Need you by my side. 'Cause every time we touch. I feel ecstatic. And every time we kiss. I reach for the sky. Can't you hear my heart beat so? I can't let you go. Want you in my life."

As an upbeat instrumental occupied the silence of lyrics, Star was dancing across the stage, jumping up and down as she urged the audience to dance as well. The people were screaming in excitement, most of them jumping up and down along with her as they all danced to the music before she started singing again.

"Your arms are my castle. Your heart is my sky. They wipe away tears that I cry. The good and the bad times, we've been through them all. You make me rise when I fall. 'Cause every time we touch, I get this feeling. And every time we kiss, I swear I can fly. Can't you feel my heart beat fast? I want this to last. Need you by my side. 'Cause every time we touch, I feel ecstatic. And every time we kiss, I reach for the sky. Can't you hear my heart beat so? I can't let you go. Want you in my life."

Suddenly, as the instrumental played again, a couple lights on the stage started going nuts, changing color in a sort of strobe effect. It got the crowd extremely riled up as everybody was suddenly dancing now. Not even Shadow could resist bobbing his head to the music a bit.

"Huh, well that explains why the guy at the ticket booth asked me if anybody had epilepsy." Mr. Thorndyke chuckled.

"Good thing, too." Mrs. Thorndyke nodded. "I'm sure Star wouldn't be very happy if something had happened to any of her fans under her watch. She seems like a very sweet girl."

"Star has always had the heart of gold." Sonic explained. "She's always looking out for others, just like me."

"'Cause every time we touch, I get this feeling. And every time we kiss, I swear I could fly. Can't you feel my heart beat fast? I want this to last. Need you by my side."

As the song ended, the crowd cheered once more, their screams resonating into the air of the slowly growing night. Some people were still jumping up and down, music still in their souls. Star laughed and clapped her own hands.

"Yes! I'm so glad you all are having such a good time! It always warms my heart to see my fans so excited!" The people cheered once more for her. Star chuckled at their reaction. "Now this next song I'm sure a lot of you may recognize, and if you do, feel free to join in. Ladies and gentlemen, So What."

"Oh I love this song!" Rouge gasped, suddenly getting excited.

"Oh boy, here we go." Shadow rolled his eyes as the music started up, most of the audience singing along.

"Na-na-na-na, na-na, na. Na-na-na-na na-na. Na-na-na-na, na-na, na. Na-na-na-na na-na. I guess I just lost my husband. I don't know where he went. So I'm gonna drink my money. I'm not gonna pay his rent."

"NOPE!" Shouted the audience.

"I got a brand new attitude. And I'm gonna wear it tonight. I wanna get in trouble. I wanna start a fight. Na-na-na-na, na-na, na. I wanna start a fight. Na-na-na-na, na-na, na. I wanna start a fight!" As Star sang the chorus, the fans started jumping up and down again, singing along with her. "So, so what?! I'm still a rock star! I got my rock moves! And I don't need you! And guess what?! I'm having more fun! And now that we're done! I'm gonna show you tonight! I'm alright! I'm just fine! And you're a tool! So, so what?! I am a rock star! I got my rock moves! And I don't want you tonight! Uh, check my flow, uh. The waiter just took my table and gave it to Jessica Simps."

"SHIT!" The crowd shouted.

"I guess I'll go sit with drum boy. At least he'll know how to hit."

"OOPS!"

"What if this song's on the radio? Then somebody's gonna die. I wanna get in trouble. My ex will start a fight. Na-na-na-na, na-na, na. He's gonna start a fight. Na-na-na-na, na-na, na. We're all gonna get in a fight! So, so what?! You weren't there. You never were. You want it all. But that's not fair. I gave you life. I gave my all. You weren't there. You let me fall. So, so what?! I'm still a rock star! I got my rock moves! And I don't need you! And guess what?! I'm having more fun! And now that we're done!"

"WE'RE DONE!"

"I'm gonna show you tonight! I'm alright!"

"I'M ALRIGHT!"

"I'm just fine!"

"I'M JUST FINE!"

"And you're a tool! So, so what?! I am a rock star! I got my rock moves! And I don't want you tonight!"

"I DON'T WANT YOU TONIGHT!"

"No no! No no! I don't want you tonight! You weren't there! I'm gonna show you tonight! I'm alright! I'm just fine! And you're a tool! So, so what?! I am a rock star! I got my rock moves! And I don't want you tonight! Woo-hoo! Ba-da-da-da, da-da."

"Every time that song comes on the radio, Rouge just HAS to sing along with it." Shadow rolled his eyes once the song had ended.

"Oh don't act like you don't have a favorite song you sing along with too. I've heard you." Rouge smirked, causing the ebony hedgehog to blush a bit.

"Oh? The Faker can actually sing with that gritty voice?" Sonic smirked at Shadow teasingly, earning a deep growl. "That's interesting. And, pray tell, what song does he sing along with?"

"That's none of your business, Faker!"

"Phantom Of The Opera."

"Rouge!" His reaction caused the others to laugh and he growled. "Alright, fine! It was a song I used to sing with Maria. What of it?!"

"Aww!" Amy cooed. "That's so sweet that you still sing a song you used to sing with your best friend."

"My sister, thank you very much." Shadow retorted with another growl.

Suddenly, as the music started for the next song, Amy screamed in excitement, causing everybody to jump, most of them covering their ears from the high pitched sound.

"Geez Amy! What is it?" Sonic frowned at her, taking his hands off his ears.

"I know this song! This is the one you and I were dancing to yesterday! I didn't know it was sung by your sister! Come on! Let's dance!" And she pulled Sonic to her as they both started dancing to the song again. Sonic tried not to groan from her affection, but he honestly couldn't be too annoyed when he was dancing to another one of his sister's creations.

"It's too hot to sleep. I got the sheets on the floor. Nothing on me. And I can't take it no more. It's 100 degrees. I got one foot out the door. Where are my keys? 'Cause I gotta leave, yeah. In the back of the cab. I tip the driver 'head of time. Get me there fast. I got your body on my mind. I want it bad. Ooh, just the thought of you gets me so high. So high. Boy, you're the one. I want you to want me. And if you want, then boy, you got me. There's nothing I, no, I wouldn't do. I wouldn't do. Just to get up next to you. Boy, you're the one. I want you to want me. And if you want, then boy, you got me. There's nothing I, no, I wouldn't do. I wouldn't do. Just to get up next to you. Just to get up next to you. You open the door. I'm wearing nothing but a smile. Down to the floor. And you whisper in my ear. 'Baby, I'm yours'. Just to get up next to you."

As the music started to slow down for the next verse, Amy couldn't help but sing along, batting her eyelashes at Sonic, who smiled nervously back at her.

"Just the thought of you. Gets me so high. Just the thought of you, woah. Gets me so high. So high. Boy, you're the one. I want you to want me. And if you want, then boy, you got me. There's nothing I, no, I wouldn't do. I wouldn't do. Just to get up next to you." And just like that, the beat picked up again. "Boy, you're the one. I want you to want me. And if you want, then boy, you got me. There's nothing I, no, I wouldn't do. I wouldn't do. Just to get up next to you. I would do anything. Just to get up next to you. Anything and everything. Just to get up next to you. Just to get up next to you."

Amy squealed once the song was over. "That is like my most favorite song of all time! It just reminds so much of my love for you, Sonic."

Sonic chuckled nervously. "Heh, yeah, right."

"What's the matter, Faker? Can't handle the love of someone absolutely obsessed with you?"

"Why are you even here?" Sonic glared at Shadow.

"Because Rouge insisted that we join you, and there's no way that she's gonna let me be on my own."

"Only because I know the moment I do you'll retreat back to the house." Rouge rolled her eyes. "Seriously, it is not going to kill you to get some fresh air in your body."

"I get fresh air all the time."

"It's also not going to kill you to be social. Who knows? Maybe you just might finally get a girlfriend."

"Shadow? Get a girlfriend?" Sonic busted out laughing. "Unlikely. He wouldn't even have a chance to get a girl's phone number."

"I could get a girlfriend if I wanted to." Shadow snarled at him. "I'm just not looking for one at the moment."

"Are you saying that in the future you might start dating?" Rouge smirked.

"Shut up, bat."

"I'm so glad you all are enjoying the show!" Star called to the audience, interrupting the argument and earning a few cheers. She nodded, realizing that some of her fans were starting to get tired. "I'm sure some of you are tired and I promise you, the show is almost over." She laughed as she heard a few people awing and booing. "I know, I know. But lucky for you, I still have two songs left, and the last one has a little twist to it. So before we get to that one, how about we get to something that's a little more relatable?"

The crowd cheered as the music started up again. Amy once again recognized the song from yesterday and looked at Sonic with wide eyes. "You know, you could've at least told us that the music we were listening to yesterday on the radio was your sister."

"I didn't even know at the time." Sonic laughed. "Trust me, it's a shock for me too."

"You know the bed feels warmer. Sleeping here alone. You know I dream in color. And do the things I want. You think you got the best of me. Think you had the last laugh. Bet you think that everything good is gone. Think you left me broken down. Think that I'd come running back. Baby you don't know me, 'cause you're dead wrong. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Stand a little taller! Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone! What doesn't kill you makes a fighter! Footsteps even lighter! Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Stronger! Just me, myself and I! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Stand a little taller! Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone!"

"Now this song… this song has my approval." Shadow nodded. "She's right. It is very relatable. And it shows that people don't need to be in a relationship to identify themselves. If she doesn't need anybody, then I don't need anybody."

"You're only saying that because you can't get a girlfriend." Sonic teased, making Shadow growl at him again.

"You heard that I was starting over with someone new. They told you I was moving on. Over you. You didn't think that I'd come back. I'd come back swinging. You try to break me but you see what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone! Thanks to you I got a new thing started! Thanks to you I'm not the broken-hearted! Thanks to you I'm finally thinking 'bout me! You know in the end the day you left was just my beginning. In the end. Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Stronger! Just me, myself and I! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Stand a little taller! Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone! When I'm alone."

Star nodded as the crowd cheered once more, beaming even brighter when she caught Shadow, SHADOW, nodding in approval. She sighed and gave her fans a small smile. "Alright everybody. I have one more song and then we're gonna have to call it a night."

"BOOOO!"

"I know! I know!" Star laughed. "But let's look on the bright side. This last song goes to someone who I love very much. You already heard one song that was written for him, well this is another one. And you know what? I think I want him on stage for this one. So Sonic! Get on up here, little brother!"

"Only fifteen minutes!" Sonic screamed back with a laugh as people started helping him onto the stage. Once he was up there he ran up to Star, exhilarated with excitement. "Star, what exactly are you planning?"

"Well Sonic, you've always been the one person who always believed in me. You were the one who told me to never give up on my dreams. Four years ago, I wrote this song for you to show how much I love and appreciate you for all you do for me and all you did for me in the past. Four years ago I sang you this song that I speak of, and I'm going to sing it to you again just to show you that my appreciation for you hasn't changed. I'm sure you know what song I'm talking about. Hit it, Drake!"

Immediately, a very recognizable tune started pumping through the speakers. As Sonic listened his eyes widened.

It was his song! The song that Star had written for him on their 16th birthday!

"I don't want to make a scene. I don't want to let you down. Try to do my own thing. And I'm starting to figure it out. That it's alright. Keep it together, wherever we go. And it's alright, oh well, whatever. Everybody needs to know. You might be crazy! But have I told you lately?! That I love you? You're the only reason that I'm not afraid to fly. And it's crazy! That someone could change me! Now no matter what it is I have to do, I'm not afraid to try. And you need to know that you're the reason why!"

"Oh Star!" Sonic laughed happily as he danced with his sister, the audience cooing at the scene as they danced along with the song. Star smiled and continued.

"I don't even care when they say you're a little bit off." Star made cuckoo signs around her head as she said that, causing Sonic to playfully hit her as the crowd laughed. Star laughed as well and kept going. "Look me in the eye, I say. I could never get enough. 'Cause it's alright. Keep it together, wherever we go. And it's alright, oh well, whatever. Everybody needs to know. You might be crazy! But have I told you lately?! That I love you? You're the only reason that I'm not afraid to fly! And it's crazy! That someone could change me! Now no matter what it is I have to do, I'm not afraid to try! And you need to know that you're the reason why!"

Star grabbed onto Sonic's hands, slowing him down as they danced together, face to face. "If it was raining, you would yell at the sun. Pick up the pieces when the damage is done. You say it's just another day in the shade. But look at what a mess we made. You might be crazy! But have I told you lately?! That I love you? You're the only reason that I'm not afraid to fly! And it's crazy! That someone could change me! Now no matter what it is I have to do, I'm not afraid to try. You might be crazy! But have I told you lately?! That I love you? You're the only reason that I'm not afraid to fly! And it's crazy! That someone could change me! Now no matter what it is I have to do, I'm not afraid to try. And you need to know that you're the reason why."
