Mandy was sitting at her desk at Langley when her phone rang. 'Sonny? That's weird.' She thinks before answering. "Sonny. Is everything okay?"
"Uh, yeah, ain't nothin wrong Mandy."
"Oh, okay. You just never call me I thought something happened to Lisa." Mandy responds leaning back in her office chair.
"Uh, I, um I could see that." Sonny stammers.
"Are you sure everything is good? you sound a little nervous." Mandy says.
"Everythin is all good Mandy. I, um I wanted to ask ya somethin, um, for Lisa."
'What on earth is he talking about?' Mandy thinks to herself before she answers. "Ask away Sonny."
"So, um, I am plannin a surprise weddin for us. She knows nothin about it. Um, that bein said I know she would want ya to be one of her bridesmaids."
"You're planning a surprise wedding?" Mandy questions.
"I am. Wait, do ya think she won't like it?" A sudden feeling of worry overtaking Sonny.
"No, no I think she will be incredibly happy. That is a very nice thing for you to do Sonny."
"Thank ya. I, uh we have just been through a lot together and I wanna celebrate us." Sonny clears his throat. "Stop avoidin the question."
Mandy lets out a small chuckle. "It was never a question, of course. Just tell me when and where, oh and what I need to wear."
"Thanks Mandy. I know ya bein there is gonna mean a lot to her. As for the dress, I was gonna let Emma handle all of that."
"God, I haven't talked to Emma in years." Mandy whispers.
'Shit.' Sonny thinks. He had forgotten about Mandy and Jason's falling out a few years back. "I, um, I can get the information from her if ya would rather not talk to her."
"No Sonny, you don't have to do that we are both adults. Besides, we would see each other at the wedding anyways." Mandy protests.
"If ya say so." Sonny chuckles. "Just let me know if ya need anythin."
"Will do." Mandy smiles as she thinks about how much Sonny has changed and how great Sonny and Davis are for each other.
"Thanks Mandy. I'll talk to ya later."
"Bye Sonny."
When Sonny hangs up the phone, he checks the time. "Time to get goin" he mumbles to himself.
15 minutes later Sonny was sitting in the parking lot of the men's dresswear store waiting on Clay, Jason and Ray.
"Sonny boy." Jason yells as he approaches Sonny's truck.
Sonny opens the door. "Jace."
"What the hell are we doing at a suit store anyways?" Jason asks.
Sonny gets out of his truck. "I'll tell all y'all once Ray gets here."
"My brothers." Ray greets Sonny and Jason.
"Raymond." Sonny says.
"What's up primetime." Jason laughs.
"Nothing much." Ray looks at Sonny "Just wondering why on earth Sonny brought us here."
Jason points at Ray. "See I asked the same thing, but he refused to tell me until you were here." He turns to Sonny. "And seeing as Ray is here now..."
Sonny puts his hand up. "Okay, okay. As ya may or may not be aware of, when I was plannin on retirin Lisa and I had planned to actually get married. And clearly my choice to remain part of DEVGRU has complicated that. So, uh I'm plannin a surprise comment ceremony. I love her and she loves me and we have been through a lot together and it's time to celebrate that." He looks between Jasona and Ray and sees them both nodding. "And um, I want to ask y'all to me my groom's men. Ya guys are my brothers and drafted me to Bravo... It uh, it would mean a lot."
Jason pulls Sonny into a hug. "You didn't even have to ask."
Sonny and Ray fist bump. "Seriously man, I'll gladly be a part of this any day of the week."
"Good, good." Sonny chuckles. "Hence why I had ya show up at the suit store."
"Let me guess, the best man." Jason says watching Clay approach the group.
Sonny nods. "That would be correct."
"I guess it's only fair since you were his." Jason jokes.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Clay laughs as he joins the group. "I'm just glad to see Sonny and Davis finally got here."
Sonny shakes his head. "Woah, too many feelins guys."
"Sonny Quinn." Lisa calls as she walks into the house. She walks through the downstairs of the house and doesn't find him; she continues into the backyard and finds him in front of the grill. "There you are." She wraps her arms his waist.
"Well hello my love." Sonny says before bending his head down to kiss the top of her head. "How was your day?"
"Started crappy, ended productive." Lisa smiles.
"Now that's kinda good to hear Lisa." Sonny chuckles.
"Mhmm." Lisa nods. "You want a fresh beer?"
"Yes Ma'am."
"You got it Quinn. I'm going to go change first."
"Mm-hmm" Sonny nods, turning his attention back to the grill.
Lisa returns to the back yard with beers in hand. "Your beer has arrived"
Sonny reaches for the beer she has extended to him. "Thank ya much."
Lisa turns a chair to face him. "How was your day?"
Sonny takes a swig of his beer. "Good. Had lunch with Clay, Jace and Ray."
"Oh really?" Lisa says with a raised eyebrow. "Glad I was invited to this little reunion."
"Do I sense some jealously Ms. Davis?"
Lisa rolls her eyes. "No."
"I don't believe that for a second." Sonny chuckles. "I promise ya can hang out with us next time."
"I hate you." Lisa says doing her best to make an angry face at Sonny.
"No ya don't" Sonny walks over to her and leans down and kisses her. "Ya really, really love me."
She runs her hands up his sides. "Do I?"
"Mmhmm. Ya do." He kisses her again.
"Maybe if you keep doing this." She smirks.
Sonny shakes his head and chuckles. "Is this your way of tellin me ya are feelin a little needy today."
"It's scary how well you know me sometimes." Lisa says looking into his eyes.
"That's what I'm here for honey." Sonny runs his fingers through her hair. "Dinner looks ready."
"That was good Sonny." Lisa says as she flops half on the sofa and half on Sonny.
"Damn Davis." He grunts when she lands on him. She snuggles into his arms. "Ya gonna tell me what's up? Not that I don't like ya wantin to be held."
"I um" Lisa lets out a long breath.
Sonny kisses the top of her head. "Baby ya ain't gotta be worried about tellin me somethin. I think I have proven I am a pretty damn good listener."
"I know Sonny. I'm not. I just feel stupid for feeling this way. Okay, I am working with this new DOJ contact and today was my first time meeting her in person."
"Okay." Sonny nods still confused. "And."
"And... Let me back up a little. She has been really slow at responding to emails and never takes a call after normal business hours. Which is clearly the opposite of me. I don't know, something has always seemed up with her to me. Then today I meet her. For starters she was late, and I mean like 45 minutes late. When she finally got there, she said she just didn't want to leave her kids. When she saw the lack of understanding in my face, she huffed at me and told me I clearly don't have children and that I will understand her pain until I do. I told her I'm not having kids. She looked horrified and told me I will never know what true love is."
"I'm sorry, then what the hell do we have here? Are we not in love?" Sonny says more aggressively than he meant to. He feels her nod against his chest. "Sorry I didn't mean for it to come out like that. Not that ya wanted kids before the cancer, but for her to say somethin like that is disrespectful."
"It is. I may or may not have played up the cancer card to make her feel bad." Lisa shifts so she can look at him. "Her face was priceless."
God he loved how strong she is, he thinks before answering. "Ya handled her like the champ ya are. So, what's botherin ya?"
"Oh, I'm not done yet. You know how I rarely wear my ring at work. Well, later she was just staring at my left hand and I asked her why." Lisa lets out an annoyed breath. "She tilted her head to the side and said since you can't have kids, I guess no man wants to be with you, you poor thing. Sonny I almost went across the table at her."
"Are ya fuckin kiddin me." Sonny growls.
"I told her my personal life was none of her business and got up and left the meeting." Lisa says. "I hate the way society still treats childfree women like they are monsters because they don't want kids. Like the whole you're not a complete woman without kids mindset. The fact that me just not wanting kids wasn't going to shut her up. I don't really like having the throw the cancer card in people's faces. I wish they would just respect the dream and vision I have for my life."
"I'm sorry ya go through that way more often than ya should have to." Sonny says holding her tighter.
"As much as I get annoyed with people and that crap, I can handle it. I didn't want kids before the surgery. I feel horrible for those women that want nothing more than to have a baby of their own and can't for whatever reason. I hate that is she is walking around saying that distasteful shit to woman that are already hurting and thinking they have failed as a woman." Lisa sits up and looks at Sonny. "And what if someone's husband did leave them because she couldn't have kids. How do you just go around saying that crap?"
Sonny reaches for her. "Come back here." She cuddles back into his arms and he slowly runs his hand up and down her back. "She clearly has never thought about that. It sounds like she just cares about her little world and thinks everyone is just like her."
"Yeah..." Lisa huffs. "I would like it noted that I don't like it though."
"Noted." Sonny chuckles. "Now I know she pissed ya off, but how did that lead to ya almost on top of me cause ya wanted me to hold ya?"
"I think the bit about not knowing true love and there's no way a man would love you really, really made me want to be close to you." Lisa says. "I told I felt stupid for feeling this way." She adds.
"Lisa, baby, ya ain't ever gotta feel stupid for wantin to be reassured that I love ya more than anything else in this world. I chose ya all those years ago, and I will keep choosin ya every day for the rest of my life. I love our quiet life that is just about us. No part of my wants to come home every day and deal with kids, these two dogs are more than enough."
Lisa leans up and kisses him. "Thank you. I needed to hear that. I know you love me and I know this is the life I want, but every once in a while, it wears me down listing to the negativity."
"Baby that's normal. Ya forget sometimes that you're not superhuman. Ya are allowed to feel things from time to time." Sonny says tangling his fingers in her hair.
"Are you going to be upset if we just cuddle all night?"
Sonny shakes his head. "No Lisa. I'll let ya in on a little secret, but ya can't tell the guys, I got a reputation to uphold. I really like cuddlin with ya."
A huge smile spreads across Lisa's face. "Is that so?"
"Yes, Ma'am it is." He says before capturing her lips.
A/N: Hope you guys enjoyed! Next update will be the wedding :)
