As Lisa walks onto the yacht, she is in awe of the beautiful white and pale pink flowers accompanied by lush greenery and lanterns decorating the boat. She walks up behind Sonny standing on the bow. "Sonny Quinn." He turned around and she watched his face light up. "You clean up pretty well Mr. Quinn."
Sonny knows he is grinning like an idiot, but for the life of him he can't come up with a response. Finally, he finds his words. "Lisa..." Sonny runs hand down his face. "Ya look so incredibly beautiful."
Lisa steps closer to him and takes his hands. "Thank you." She smiles. "Thank you for all of this. The decorations are prefect and you're prefect."
"I'm glad ya like it all. Lisa, I can't get over ya in this dress." He pulls her into a hug. "I get to marry my best friend today."
They separate and she strokes his cheek. "Most people dream of what we have. I love you."
"That they do Lisa. I love ya too. I'll see ya in a little while. Ya know, when ya walk down the aisle." He smirks at her.
"I can't wait to see you standing there." Lisa
"You ready Sonny boy?" Jason asks as they line up on the back deck of the boat where the alter was set up.
"More than ya know. We have waited for this day for a long time." Sonny nods.
"This is about to be the best moment of your life." Clay pats him on the shoulder.
"Thanks blondie." Sonny chuckles. "I don't know if I have told ya or not, but she's my dream girl."
"That's what matters brother." Ray comments.
The music starts to play, and everyone turns their attention to the aisle. Sonny's breath was taken away all over again when he laid eyes on Davis as she walked down the aisle towards him.
Lisa couldn't help but smile seeing Sonny's face as she walked towards him. She still couldn't believe that they finally got here. "Hi." She whispered when she reached him.
"Hey baby." He returns.
Blackburn clears his throat. "Listen up." The group erupts with laughter. "Let me start this ceremony by saying thank you to Lisa and Sonny for asking me to be their officiant. I am eternally humbled by that. I think we can all agree that the first time we met Sonny none of us would have thought we would be at his wedding, but the more I have gotten to know Sonny over the years, the more I knew this day would come. Lisa and Sonny are made for each other. As I watched their friendship grow, I always felt they would find their way together, and they did. Lisa and Sonny have written their own vows." He turns to Sonny. "Sonny."
"No pressure." Sonny chuckles. "Lisa." He looks back at the note card that contained his vows. "Ya changed my life the day I met ya. I never expected to find my best friend that day when I walked into the team room. We have nearly two decades of memories together. We have been through so much both personally and professionally. I have wanted to marry ya for a long time now, but that feelin only intensified after the accident and now we are here. Ya are the woman I didn't know I was dreamin of. Ya push me to be the best person I can be. Ya always know what I'm thinkin. Ya fit my soul in a way I never thought possible. Lisa ya really are my other half." Sonny pauses, looking up at Lisa. He finds her fighting back tears. "As I look towards the future, I can't wait to wake up to ya every mornin and cuddle with ya every night. I will love ya forever and always." Sonny tucks the card back in pocket and watches Lisa dab a tear away.
Blackburn looks at Davis. "Lisa."
She nods and takes a shaky breath. She never thought she would be this emotional. "Let's see if I can follow that." She says looking at Sonny. "Sonny Quinn somehow, against all odds we made it here. You have always had a way of shocking me, and today is no different. How many women can say their husbands gave them a surprise wedding?" She looks up at Sonny and sees him smirking. "Everyone says the butterflies go away. Well, I'm here to tell you they don't. Every time you walk into a room my heart skips a beat. I never thought I would find what I have with you. If someone had told sixteen year old Lisa that one day she would find a best friend that understood her better than she understood herself. And that same best friend would become the man of her dreams that would go to the end of the earth just to make her smile. She would have never believed you, yet here you are standing in front of me. Sonny I love you more than I can put into words and I can't wait to keep adding to our long list of memories." She looks at Sonny as she finishes reading and sees a huge smile plastered on his face.
Eric looks between the two. "I mean this with all seriousness, that was beautiful. With all of the horrific we deal with it is special to have the opportunity to take part in such a happy occasion." He turns his head to Clay. "The ring." Clay hands Sonny Lisa's wedding ring. "Sonny repeat after me. "I give you this ring to wear with love and joy."
Sonny takes Lisa's left hand. "Lisa, I give ya this ring to wear with love and joy."
Blackburn continues. "As a ring has no end, neither shall my love for you."
All Sonny could do was grin like a Cheshire cat and gaze into Lisa's eyes. "As a ring has no end, neither shall my love for ya."
"I choose you to be my wife this day and forevermore." Eric says.
"I choose ya to be my wife this day and forevermore." Sonny repeats and he slides the wedding band onto Lisa's ring finger.
Davis looks down at her hand, this is real. Her and Sonny are married. Her train of thought was broken by Blackburn asking Emma for Sonny's wedding band. "Here you go Lisa." Emma smiles as she passes the ring to her. Thank you Lisa mouths.
"Alright Lisa, repeat after me. I give you this ring to wear with love and joy."
Lisa holds Sonny's callused hand in hers. "Sonny, I give you this ring to wear with love and joy."
Eric looks between the two. "As a ring has no end, neither shall my love for you."
"As a ring has no end, neither shall my love for you." Lisa smiles.
"I choose you to be my husband this day and forevermore." Eric says.
Lisa pushes the ring onto Sonny's ring finger. "I choose you to be my husband this day and forevermore."
Eric smiles watching the two. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now seal the vows with a kiss."
Lisa doesn't know what overtakes her. She lunges forward, wrapping her arms around Sonny's neck before they kiss. "Well damn Davis." Sonny chuckles when they pull apart.
"Sorry, I just couldn't contain myself." She whispers.
"It is with great pleasure I introduce the happily married couple for the first time." Blackburn says as he closes the leather folder he was using to read from.
Sonny and Davis turn to walk down the aisle both glowing. They walk down the stairs into the dining room to take a minute alone. Sonny wraps his arms around his waist, pulling her in close. "We're married baby."
Lisa runs her hands over his back. "I know Sonny. This may be the best day of my life so far."
"Oh really." Sonny says with a raised eyebrow.
Lisa giggles. "Don't act like you don't agree with me."
"I do my love. You're my favorite person in this world and now we are officially tied together." Sonny kisses her.
Davis runs her hair though the back of Sonny's hair. "Thank you again for all of this. I know this sounds crazy corny, but today has been magical."
This moment felt perfect to Sonny. "It does." He kisses her on top of her head. "I'm glad ya like it all."
"Mmhhm." Lisa nods. "Every detail has been just what I would have planned. And you in that suit." She smirks.
"That's what I said while I was getting dressed. I look pretty damn good, if I do say so myself." He chuckles.
"I like the navy gray color." She runs her hands down the lapel. "And the fit is impeccable."
"Thank ya baby. Ya know I can't stop starin at ya. That dress is beautiful and so are ya."
"Sonny you're making me blush." She says feeling herself flush.
"Good, you're cute when you're a little embarrassed because I complement ya too much." He says while watching her smile bigger than he thinks he has ever seen her do.
She slides her right hand down his left arm to his left hand. "Does it feel weird?"
"Weird, no." Sonny shakes his head. "Different, yes. But I feel it and I remember the amazin woman that put it on my finger."
"And that makes you happy?" Lisa asks stroking her thumb over his ring.
Sonny grips her hips. "The happiest I have ever been."
"Good. One more kiss then we should get back to everyone." Lisa says.
"We should. That also means more alcohol." He chuckles before capturing her lips in a deep kiss. "I'll tell ya what Davis, I can't wait to do that for the rest of my life."
"Same Sonny, same." She takes his hand and guides him back up the stairs.
"There's the married couple." Jason says as they reenter the bar level where the ceremony was held.
"The party can now officially start." Sonny laughs.
Lisa walks over to Emma and Clay and pulls Emma into a hug. "Thank you for helping Sonny plan this. All of the decorations are wonderful. The ceremony timing was just right, I'm sure the pictures will turn out amazing."
Emma and Lisa pull apart. "I wish I could take credit for that sunset, but I think the universe just knew."
"It was one of the prettiest we have had in a while." Lisa smiles. "And Clay thank you for getting him here sober and on time."
Clay shakes his head. "Are you kidding me? He nearly dragged us out of the hotel room. Davis he was like a teenager on his first date. All worried about if you would like his outfit and his hair and if his breath smelled okay."
"Really?" Lisa chuckles. One more reason to love him, she thought.
"Really. In all of the crap we have seen together over the years, I have never seen him that excited for something." Clay tells her.
"Thank you for telling me that Clay. He may hate to admit stuff like that, but I love hearing it." Lisa tells Clay just before Sonny approaches the three.
"Your drink." Sonny says handing Lisa a bottle of beer. "What's goin on over here?"
Sonny wraps his arm around Lisa's waist, and she rests her head on his shoulder. "I was just telling Emma how much I love everything about today and how great of a job you two did planning this."
Sonny nods in agreement. "I wouldn't expect anything else from ya, Emma."
"Thank you." Emma smiles. "This is the least I could do to repay Lisa for all of the support she has shown me through the years."
"Emma stop." Lisa chuckles. "You're going to make me cry."
"Question." Clay butts in. "Anyone what to take a guess how those two are going to end the evening" He motions towards Mandy and Jason leaned against the bar talking like they are the only people in the world.
"I think he's ready to forgive her." Emma comments.
"While I know she's not ready to leave the agency, I think she is starting to crave that calmer life that he wanted to have with her." Lisa says.
"This should be interestin." Sonny chuckles.
"Are we interrupting?" Tori asked as her and Rodger approached the group.
Sonny turned his attention to his fellow Green Team instructor and his wife. "Aw, no Ma'am ya could never interrupted a damn thing."
"You're too sweet Sonny." Tori says as she reaches out and hugs him. She then moves to Lisa. "Congrats guys. And Lisa you look stunning. That dress fits you like a glove."
"Thank you." Lisa smiles.
"Long time no see Davis." Metal says as he comes up behind the group.
Lisa turns to face him. "Oh, what like a whole two months? Did you finish your contact?"
"Nope. Just on my month off rotation." Metal shrugs. "Glad to see this finally happened. Unfortunately, I didn't win the pool."
Lisa shakes her head in disappointment. "I should have known the guys had a bet on how long this was going to take."
"My money was on a random Vegas trip and you two would just come back married and act like nothing ever happened." Metal chuckles.
"That is very Sonny and I." She laughs. "But I'm glad he did it up."
Metal nods. "Sonny Quinn out here making every other guy look bad."
Upon hearing his name Sonny turns around. "Metal, I do that by just existin, I don't even gotta try."
"Keep telling yourself that buddy." Metal chuckles.
"Don't be hatin just cause you're jealous of all this." Sonny laughs.
Metal looks at Davis. "You sure you want to be stuck with this guy forever?"
Lisa loops her arm around Sonny's neck. "For some unexplainable reason I really love him."
Metal shakes his head. "You two make me want to puke."
"Well, well, look what the cat dragged in." Sonny comments when Trent and Brock walk up to them.
Brock looks behind him. "I'm sorry, I know you're not referring to Trent and me."
"Don't listen to him." Lisa says as she hugs Brock. "You guys look very handsome."
"Y'all don't listen to her lies." Sonny laughs. "Thank ya for comin today."
"Yeah, it means a lot." Lisa adds.
"Davis, there was no way I was going to miss this." Brock says.
"I second that." Trent states.
The wedding planner announces dinner is ready to be served. Everyone moves to the dining room on the yacht. Lisa and Sonny sit at the sweetheart table. She takes his hand and squeezes it. "Yeah baby?" He asks.
"Nothing. I just wanted to hold my husband's hand."
"Mmhmm." Sonny mumbles as he leans his head down and kisses her exposed shoulder. "Ain't a damn thing wrong with that."
Lisa leans in kisses to him. "What do you think when you look at me like that?"
"Uhh. Usually, it's some form of just how much I love ya, but today, it's tellin myself that it is real and you're really sittin there in that dress because of me." Sonny strokes her hand with his thumb.
"Don't ever stop doing that." she whispers.
"Ya ain't gotta worry about that Lisa."
After all of the meals had been served, Jason stood and cleared his throat. "I would like to take advantage of this captive audience." He laughs. "From the first time I watched Davis and Sonny interact, I knew they had something special. Just turns out it took them years to finally accept their feelings for each other. Davis does something to Sonny, she balances him in a way no one else could. And I have never seen Davis smile the way Sonny makes her. I can confidently say that we all wish that we had a little piece of what those two have. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a long and happy life."
"Thank you, Jason." Lisa smiles. "That means a lot."
"Thanks Jace." Sonny says.
Clay stands up next. "I guess we are doing this." He chuckles. "Sonny, you're my best friend, my brother and the best 2IC I could ask for. Davis, you have saved my ass more times than I can count. You two have always been Sonny and Davis, it was only natural that the best friendship grew into a romance. In some of my darkest moments it has been the dynamic duo that pulled me out of them. I remember watching you guys and wishing I could find what you have. I am honored to be able to take part in today. Cheers to the most deserved marriage I have ever heard of."
"Aw Blondie." Sonny chuckles.
"And you better not ever forget how valuable I am for your survival." Davis laughs.
Ronnie stands after the group settles down from Clay's toast. "I know I'm an outsider in this group, but for those of you that don't know I'm Lisa's sister. Mine and Lisa's story is a complicated one. When we reconnected, not only did I get my sister back, but I also gained a brother I never had. Congratulations Lisa and Sonny."
"Thank Ronnie." Lisa says as she stands and hugs Ronnie. "I'm glad you're here."
"I'm glad I'm here too." Ronnie smiles.
Lisa settles back into her seat and feels Sonny scoot a closer to her. "I don't think I have ever felt as loved as I do today. Thank you again for making all of this happen."
Sonny drapes his arm over her shoulders. "Ya know ya can stop sayin thank ya. This day is about us. I'm enjoyin it just as much as ya are."
Lisa nuzzles into his neck. "I know it is. I just feel so special today and that's all because of you."
"Lisa, makin ya smile makes me beyond happy."
Lisa kisses him. "And to think when I woke up this morning, I thought I was going to spend all day in bed with you."
"Mmhm." Sonny mumbles. "But uh, rain check on spendin all day in bed with me."
She runs her hand down Sonny's thigh. "I would like that."
"I'll have ya know, there is supposed to be a private room on this boat." Sonny clears his throat. "And if ya keep that up, we gonna take advantage of it."
"Hmm." Lisa smirks. "Normally I would be very agreeable to that idea, but the dress and the hair and makeup."
"Ah yes. We gotta keep ya lookin all kinds of good." Sonny chuckles.
"Don't worry." Lisa leans in a little closer to Sonny. "We will be taking advantage of that all glass bedroom and that huge shower."
"Damn Davis." Sonny groans. "Ya don't even know the thoughts that are runnin through my brain."
"And just remember, you'll be doing all of those things you are thinking about to your wife." Lisa smiles a devilish smile.
"Fuck Lisa." Sonny grumbles.
"Okay, I'm done." Lisa giggles.
"Mm baby, ya know I love it when we talk about the naughty things we are gonna do." Sonny laces his fingers with hers.
Lisa nods. "It is fun, isn't it?"
"Hi." Emma says as she approaches Sonny and Davis. "How was dinner?"
Lisa turns to look at her. "It was delicious."
"Good." Emma smiles. "And what do you think of the center pieces?"
"Emma, everything is perfect. Please stop worrying I'm not going to like something. I love every detail. You did an amazing job. And I am eternally grateful for all of it."
"I know, I just know how good it felt to walk into my wedding and see everything the way I have envisioned it. I just wanted to make sure you had that same moment."
Lisa stands and hugs Emma. "Thank you. I do feel that way. It's almost like you tapped into my brain and choose exactly what I would have."
"Good." Emma says as they pull apart. "If you're good, I'm good."
"I'm good." Lisa smiles. "Promise."
"Do you think we should move this show back up to the bar?" Emma asks.
"Did ya just say bar?" Sonny chimes in.
Emma shakes her head. "Yes Sonny, I did."
"Clearly I'm always down for the bar." He chuckles. "That ain't ever gonna change."
"Don't worry Sonny, I wouldn't expect anything different from you." Emma smirks.
Sonny narrows his eyes at her. "Not cool Emma."
"Who wants a shot?" Jsaon asks while standing at the bar as the bartender starts to pour the shots.
"Hell yes." Sonny laughs and makes his way to stand next to Jason. "I'm havin some flash backs."
Jason puts his hand on Sonny's shoulder. "Yeah, just normally we aren't this well dressed."
"That's the truth." Lisa comments as she stands between the two.
After everyone is gathered around with their shots, Clay raised his drink in the air. "To Sonny and Davis." The group cheers and throws back their shots. "How does it feel man?" Clay asks Sonny.
Sonny thinks for a second. "Damn good." He looks over at Lisa and Naima talking. "Bout time."
"I'll tell you man, there is something about looking at the woman you love most in the world dressed up and willing to agree to spend her whole life with you." Clay says. When Sonny doesn't respond Clay looks at him and finds him staring at Davis. "Hey Sonny."
"Uh, what?" Sonny snaps his head towards Clay.
"Man go be with her. Today is about you guys. Don't worry about anybody else." Clay says.
"Am I that obvious?" Sonny chuckles.
Clay pats him on the shoulder. "Yeah brother, you are."
Sonny sneaks up behind Davis and wraps his arms around her waist. "Let's go up to the bow for a few minutes." He whispers in her ear.
She leans back against him. "Mm that sounds nice." As they walk towards the bow of the boat, Lisa looks around at the lights from the city reflecting on the water. "It really is beautiful." She comments.
"Not as beautiful as ya." Sonny tells her.
Lisa opens her mouth to respond as she is rounding the corner when she lays eyes on at first glance, she thought was Mandy and Jason. "What the hell?" A few steps closer and Davis confirms what she thought. It Jason leaning against the side of the boat with Mandy standing between his legs.
"Need I remind you how we found out about you and Sonny." Jason defends.
"Don't start with me Jason. That was completely different, you guys broke into Sonny's apartment." Lisa responds.
Mandy turns to face Sonny and Davis. "First off, everyone take a breath. Second, I know what happened last time, but it's been a few years and I know I'm in a different place now. Third, Jason and I are adults and what we do is our business."
"I know Mandy. That was just a little shocking to happen upon." Lisa says.
"Tell you what." Jason says. "We'll leave you two alone up here."
Mandy and Jason walk away, and Sonny turns to Lisa. "What the hell just happened?"
"That would be Clay being right about what he said earlier." Lisa wraps her arms around Sonny's neck.
His hands come to rest on her hips. "Ya know Davis, I'm mighty glad we are past all that bullshit. I don't miss those days one bit."
"Me too." Lisa leans up and kisses him. "I never want to forget this moment."
"Me either baby."
"Question." Lisa says. "Did you plan a honeymoon too?"
"Ah, no Ma'am." Sonny chuckles. "Ya are the queen of vacation plannin. And um, I know ya have been wantin to go to a few different places and uh, I wanted ya to be able to choose."
"And my schedule is pretty crazy right now." Lisa adds. "We have to think of a really great place to celebrate this amazing wedding."
"That we do my love." Sonny kisses the top of her head. "Lisa I can't even put into words how much I love ya."
Lisa smiles. "It's okay, you don't have to tell me. Um, I can feel it. I have never been more sure of anything."
"Thank god ya know how to read my mind and I ain't gotta try and find the words to tell ya what I'm feelin." Sonny says stroking her arm.
They stand in silence for some time, just soaking in the moment. "We are almost back at the dock." Lisa notes.
"I guess we should get back and have a final drink with everyone." Sonny says.
"Mmhm." Lisa nods. "We probably should. We have a lifetime to spend together, we can hang out with our friends a little longer."
"Agreed." Sonny pulls her in a little tighter. "One last kiss though." Lisa smiles and leans up and captures his lips.
"There they are." Trent announces when Sonny and Davis rejoin the group.
"Hey guys." Lisa laughs.
The group continues to celebrate on the yacht until it is docked. After one last shot Sonny turns to his friends and coworkers. "To the after party." Sonny yells.
They walk back onto the pier and Sonny and Davis stop and turn. "That boat will forever be where we got married." Sonny says kissing Lisa on the temple.
"I love knowing that. And that you're my husband. Oh, and that we get to spend forever together." Lisa takes his hand. "First steps into the rest of our life."
A/N: And they are married! I really hope you guys liked the wedding! Let me know.
