A/N: Here is the next chapter in Sonny's injury/ recovery. Hope you all enjoy!

It had been 17 days since Sonny had gotten shot. 17 days that he had been in Germany. 17 days since Lisa saw him last. 17 days since he wrapped his arms around her and told her that he loved her. She needed to see him, was all she could think. Now she was standing on the tarmac waiting for the C17 medical transport to open so she could see him. She felt a hand on her shoulder, pulling her from her deep thought, she looks up to find Trent. "Everything that I have heard has been good."

Lisa takes a deep breath to keep her voice from cracking. "He still can't move his legs, Trent."

Trent nods. "But he is getting sensation back. Little steps Davis." He hears her huff in response. "I know, but you know he is one tough bastard, a bullet and a little fall isn't going to stop him."

Lisa nods. "Thank you for the pep talk."

"How's everybody feeling today." Clay asks as he walks.

"I'll be a lot better once I get to see him." Lisas says turning to Clay.

"I know Davis." Clay says as he pulls Lisa into a hug. "You get to see the guy in just a few minutes."

Lisa nods, fighting the tears. "I just need to see him. He's my best friend and the love of my life, he has to be okay."

"He will be Davis." Clay reassures her.

Everyone turns when they hear the plane opening. Lisa holds her breath worried what she is about to see. It takes all of her restraint not to take off running into the plane, but she knew that would raise too many questions about them. It felt like forever before he was being wheeled off the back of the aircraft. Once the stretcher was on the tarmac the medical team stopped to allow Sonny to visit with his team. "Hey there everybody." Sonny said in a raspy voice.

"Hey Sonny." Lisa smiles feeling her eyes well with tears. "I missed you so much." She finds his hand under the blanket and squeezes it.

"I missed ya too." Sonny smiles. "Don't cry baby. I'm okay."

"You really scared me Sonny." Lisa says with a weak smile.

"I know." Sonny looks up as he hears someone from the med clear their throat. "I guess that would be my time limit."

Lisa nods. "Okay, I'll see you at the hospital in a little while." She leans in a little closer to him. "I love you."

"Back at ya." Sonny smiles.

Lisa backs up and Clay and Trent step forward. "It's good to see you buddy." Clays says patting him on her shoulder.

"Ya too man." Sonny responds.

"We'll come check on you after you get settled." Trent tells Sonny.

"Thanks Trent." Sonny turns his attention to the med crew. "Thanks for stoppin my fan club needed to say hi."

"God you're ridiculous." Lisa shakes her head.

"Too bad I'm your favorite." Sonny chuckles as he is rolled away.

A few hours later Lisa walked into Sonny's hospital room to find him sleeping. She pulls a chair up next to the bed and sits down next to him, taking his hand in her. "Hi honey."

Sonny stirs and looks at her. "Well, hey there Davis." He smiles. "It's been 17 days and I don't get at least one little kiss."

"Oh, me kissing you is all you're concerned about?" Lisa giggles as she leans forward.

"At the present moment, yes my love." Sonny grins up at her.

"You're impossible." She says before kissing him. She pulls back but leaves her face lingering above his. "It's been a long 17 days since we got to do that last."

"Mhm." Sonny mumble before reaching his hand up and pulling her face back down to his in a much more passionate kiss. "That's better." Sonny smirks after releasing his grip on her head.

Lisa sits back in her chair. "Glad I could be of help." She runs her fingers through his messy hair. "I'm just so happy to have you home."

"I'm glad to be home." Sonny smiles and laces their fingers together. "Glad to see ya again."

"What have the docs been saying?" Lisa asks.

"That the fact that the feelin is comin back is a good thing and that I would have a meetin with the whole care team shortly after I got here." Sonny says resting his head back on his pillow.

"The waiting is really getting to me." Lisa says.

Sonny nods. "I know Lisa. I don't like it either. But look on the bright side, I'm alive and I'm here."

"I know." Lisa smiles, again fighting back tears. "You know Sonny, you're really turning me into a cry baby."

"What, no way. I managed to make Lisa Davis cry. And not because I broke her heart." Sonny chuckles.

"Shut up Sonny Quinn." Lisa laughs.

"Made ya laugh too." He smiles. "My favorite laugh in the world."

"You're the hurt one and you're still trying to make me laugh." Lisa points out.

"It's my job to make ya happy." Sonny responds. "Speaking of making you happy, I guess I kinda ruined your cancer free anniversary, didn't I?"

"Oh Sonny, stop it. I don't care about that. I care about you being alive and being about to walk again. That's all I care about, not celebrating two years cancer free. I made it a year the next big milestone will be five."

"That is two more years I have gotten to spend with ya." Sonny counters.

"That's sweet Sonny, it really is. I guess how I just want you to be okay is how you feel about me." Lisa says.

Sonny nods and strokes the back of her hand with his thumb. "That would be correct baby."

"Next year, once you're healed, we will have a great time." Lisa smiles. "Believe it or not, I really, really like spending time with you."

"Seein as ya agreed to marry me, I would hope that ya do." Sonny chuckles.

Lisa looks down at her bare left ring finger, she never wore her ring on base. "I did agree to that didn't I? At a nice candlelight dinner on the beach."

"That was a good night, and then what happened after." Sonny smirks.

"Is that all you care about, how good the sex was?" Lisa shakes her head.

"Are ya disagreein with me?" Sonny sees her shake her head no. "But it was that good because it was with my beautiful Fiancé."

"Aw Sonny." Lisa smiles. "I still love when you call me that."

"It does have a nice ring to it." Sonny smiles back at her. "What's goin through that head?"

"You can always tell when I'm thinking about something. I um, I just really want to meet your care team and figure out what the next steps are and what to expect. I know how much of a planner I am."

"I get that Lisa, I do. We can't worry too much right now. I'm here with ya and I'm gonna make it through to the other side, whatever it takes."

"I know." Lisa is distracted by her text message notification. "You hungry? Clay is on his way and wants to know if you want anything to eat."

"Hmm, some barbeque sounds hella good right now." Sonny says.

"Barbeque it is." Lisa says as she types her reply to Clay. She looks back over at him and finds his eyes closed. "Take a nap babe, I'll wake you up when Clay gets here."

"Thanks Davis." He grumbles half asleep.

"What's up Davis." Clays says as he pops his head around the door to the hospital room. "I come baring barbeque for the wounded Texan.

"Look at that blondie made himself good for somethin." Sonny chuckles.

"Yeah, yeah brother." Clay sits the food down on the table in the room and starts to pull it from the bag. "How you feeling?" He asks as he hands Sonny and Davis their to go boxes.

"Been better." Sonny chuckles. "But on the upside, I can kinda wiggle my big toe."

"No way, that's awesome man." Clay says sitting in the chair on the other side of Sonny's bed. "Any updates?"

"Naw, not yet. Just enjoyin spendin time with Lisa." Sonny says turning his eyes to her.

"That's good. I know you both needed it." Clay says. "How's the food?"

"It ain't mine, but compared to hospital food this is five stars." Sonny chuckles. "Thanks for bringin this."

"It's no problem. We all know how you like to eat." Clay teases.

"I gotta say, if I wasn't in a damn hospital bed and we had a few drinks flowin this would be a fun afternoon." Sonny laughs.

"Cheers to that." Clay says holding his drink up.
