"Listen babe, I haven't been here since I left." Sonny tells Lisa as they drive towards the bar.

"What are you trying to tell me Sonny?"

Sonny hesitates. "Just, uh, this place might be a real dump."

"Then we go find somewhere else to eat at." Lisa rubs his shoulder. "I know you feel unsure of yourself right now, but don't worry about me. I'm just along for the ride and to support you."

Sonny glances over at her as a smile spreads across his face. "Ya have always been my ride or die."

"We are Sonny and Davis, after all." Lisa smirks. "Just so I'm prepared for what I'm walking into, what is this place like?"

"Good ol' fashioned small-town bar." Sonny tells her as they pull into the parking lot. "I ain't gonna lie, this looks better than I thought it would."

"It's kinda cute, in a bar in the middle of nowhere kind of way." Lisa says looking around.

"Yeah." Sonny nods. "Whoever bought it is doin it justice."

"I can almost picture you running around this town causing all sorts of trouble as young Sonny."

"Yes Ma'am." Sonny chuckles. "I was one hell of a hell raiser back in the day."

"What do you mean back in the day." Lisa leans over the center console to kiss him on the cheek.

"Haha." Sonny laughs. "I guess ya have been around for some of my worst moments. And yet you're still here."

"For a multitude of reason, yes I am." Lisa smiles. "Should we see if the inside matches the outside?"

"We should." Sonny turns the car off. "Just be prepared for a bunch of old drunk cowboys."

"I think I can handle them." Lisa smirks.

"That my love, I never doubted for a minute." Sonny holds the door open for Lisa to walk through. "Welcome to my hometown bar."

"Thank you, Sonny." Lisa walks towards the bar to take a seat.

"This is crazy." Sonny sits on the bar stool next to her. "This place looks almost the same as it did two decades ago."

Lisa watches him starting to relax as he soaks in his environment. "Feeling a little more at home?" She rests her hand on his thigh.

"Actually, yes." Sonny looks from Lisa to the red head approaching them. He freezes, it's her.

"Don't look like you have seen a ghost Sonny Quinn." Hannah mocks Sonny's stoic appearance.

"Clearly ya ain't dead, so I couldn't have seen a ghost." Sonny stumbles.

"Charming as ever." Hannah turns her gaze to Lisa. "You must be the wife he told me nothing about."

Lisa extends her hand and shakes Hannah's. "I am. Lisa Davis. It's nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too." Hannah smiles. "Never thought I would see the day that boy committed to someone."

Lisa nods and chuckles. "It was a long road. But he can't be blamed for all of it, I may or may not have my own commitment issues."

Hannah opens two beers and sets them on the bar in front of Sonny and Davis. "Takes one to know one?"

"Something like that." Lisa says taking the first sip of her beer.

"I didn't realize ya came back after college. Always thought ya wanted to go off and do big things." Sonny comments.

Hannah nods. "I didn't have the heart to leave my parents. So I moved back and ended up buyin the place."

"Ya own this old terd." Sonny chuckles.

"Someone has to polish it." Hannah smirks. "I need to hear this story." She points between Lisa and Sonny.

"Ain't a whole lot to tell." Sonny shrugs. "Davis and I have known each other for years and were always just best friends, until we became more."

"Such a romantic story." Hannah pokes.

"We have had our moments." Sonny defends, but doesn't elaborate.

Lisa can see Hannah isn't buying Sonny's drive by of an answer. "There was a surprise wedding." She smirks.

"Wait?" Hannah shakes her head. "Who surprised who?"

Lisa finds Sonny's hand that is resting on the bar and laces their fingers together. "Sonny surprised me."

"Sonny Quinn, say it anin't so." Hannah laughs, shocked that he could pull that off.

"It happened. She had no idea I was plannin it." Sonny informs Hannah.

"That's amazing." Hannah smiles. She looks at Lisa. "What do you do?"

"Oh, I'm a Naval Intelligence officer." Lisa tells her.

"Wow, a Navy SEAL and an intelligence officer. You two are quite the power couple." Hannah notes.

"Somethin like that." Sonny chuckles. "Ima hit the head. No mean story swappin while I'm gone." Sonny points between Lisa and Hannah.

"I would never." Lisa says doing her best to keep a straight face.

Sonny turns back and looks at Lisa after he had stood up from his bar stool. "That's a damn lie and ya know it. I see ya tryin not to laugh."

"But you love me, and that's what's important." Lisa beams.

"Uh-huh." Sonny grumbles as she walks towards the bathrooms.

"I just can't get over how grown up he is." Hannah tells Lisa.

"Yeah." Lisa smiles. "He's a much better version of the guy I met all of those years ago. And then after the last couple of year, it's really showed both of us what's important."

"What happened?" Hannah asked, completely unaware of Sonny's near-death experience.

"Ah, Sonny got shot on an op and then fell off a roof. The bullet lodged against his spine and caused some swelling to the spinal cord causing him to be paralyzed for a couple of months." Lisa says looking down at the bar, she truly hated reliving that period of time.

"Oh my god." Hannah says in shock. "I would have never known."

Lisa nods. "That's the way he wants it. He'll never be able to operate again, but to the rest of the world he still looks like the same old Sonny."

"How devastating." Hannah says softly, after racking her brain for something more elegant to say.

"It has taken him a lot of hard work both physically and mentally to get to where he is. I know it's corny to say, but I'm so proud of him. The Sonny I met all those years ago would never have been able to come out on top of this situation, but here he is."

"Please tell me y'all haven't been swapping embarrassin stories about yours truly." Sonny says upon his return from the bathroom.

"That you'll never know babe."

"I don't like this." Sonny looks between Lisa and Hannah. "I'm startin to feel a little ganged up on."

"You mean to tell us you don't like your past and your present meeting?" Hannah chuckles. He may be more grown up, but he was still the same old Sonny Quinn.

"I didn't say that." Sonny defends. "I'm just not a fan of the gang up on Sonny act."

"Sonny, my love, sit your ass down and shut up." Lisa shoots him a playful glance.

"Yes Ma'am." He grumbles as he does what she had told him. He looks up at Hannah. "We went to see Emmitt." Sonny pauses. "It went about as well as I imagined it would."

"He's stubborn." Hannah nods. "Are you going to try again?"

"I'll tell ya what Hannah, I don't wanna, but I feel like I have to." Sonny tells her.

"He needs help." She tells him.

"And that's what I'm tryin to give him." Sonny huffs. "But instead of acceptin help he says some shit to me and then slams the door in Lisa's face.

"Oh damn." Hannah sakes her head. "He doesn't hate me, at least not at the moment. Do you think it would help if I came along? Maybe tried to break the ice."

"Couldn't hurt at this point." Sonny shrugs.

"Good. Tomorrow, say 11?" Hannah confirms.

Sonny looks to Lisa and sees her nod in agreement. "11 works for us."

"Good, I'll bring some food. He's nicer when you feed him." Hannah smirks.

"Sounds like somebody else I know." Lisa teases.

"Don't start with me Davis." Sonny turns to look at her. "Ya ain't the happiest when you're hungry either.

"I can't even lie." Lisa chuckles. "Speaking of food, what's good to eat?"

"How do a hamburger and tater tots sound?" Hannah asks.

"Sounds good to me." Lisa smiles and Sonny nods in agreement.

"Great, I'll go get the orders put in." Hannah says before turning and walking away.

"I gotta say Davis, this is going better than I thought it was going to go."

"Did you think it would be awkward or something?" Lisa asks.

"I don't know." Sonny shakes his head. "Just after the way I left. And we hadn't talked in so long."

"Well, everything seems pretty good between you two." Lisa kisses him on the cheek. "I like her. It fun to see that you had a version of me before we met."

"I would have been way further up shit's creek without her back then." Sonny tells her. "But as close as her and I were, we didn't get each other like you and I do."

"I mean I am your better half." Lisa giggles as they lean in for a kiss.
