A/N: Happy Belated Valentine's Day! A little per Savis flash back! This chapter takes place the year before Sonny left for Green Team.
"Sonny Quinn." Lisa calls walking into the living room to find Sonny stretched out on the couch waiting for her to finish getting ready for their Valentine's Day date. She sees his stunned expression. "What?" She looks down over her dress. "Do you not like it?"
"Naw baby." Sonny says jumping to his feet. "Ya look incredible."
"Then what's wrong?" She asks as he closes the gap between them.
Sonny rests his hands on her hips. "Seein ya in that dress just caused a major flash back."
Lisa smirks. "So you do remember when else I have worn this dress?"
Sonny slowly nods. "How could I forget? It's the night we got engaged as a joke."
"That was a fun night." Lisa smiles.
"Yes Ma'am it was." Sonny returns her smiles. "And let me tell ya, this dress looked good on ya back then, but daumnnn ya look fine as hell in it tonight."
"Thank you so much." Lisa feels herself blushing. "You know Quinn, that's one of those nights I will never forget."
"Me either baby." Sonny kisses her.
(Flashback)
February 10th
Sonny and Davis were sitting at their favorite local bar with some teammates, just drinking and shooting the shit. "Hold the hell up Nick." Lisa says looking around the group. "You're seriously going to propose to the stripper you have known for three weeks?"
"Ya say that like it's a bad plan there Davis." Sonny chuckles, knowing she was totally correct.
"Shut your damn mouth, Quinn." Lisa points the neck of her beer bottle at him. "If you think it's such a great idea, then why don't you marry your favorite stripper?"
"Cause I ain't the marryin type." Sonny shoots back. "But ya already knew that ya little smartass."
Nick butts into Lisa and Sonny's banter. "For your information Davis, she's different."
"I bet she is." Lisa shakes her head.
"Don't rain on my parade Davis." Nick counters. "Just for that you're not invited to the courthouse."
"Oh my god, I'm so heart broken." Lisa quips.
Sonny chuckles and shakes his head. "So Nick Nack, does she know you're talkin like this?"
"What? About marrying her?" Nick clarifies. "Yeah, she's the one who brought it up."
"Of course she was." Lisa mumbles under her breath, only loud enough for Sonny to hear. She hears him laugh to himself.
"Wow, well uh, good luck with the proposal on Valentine's Day." Sonny turns to Lisa. "Ya bout ready to head out?"
"Been ready." Lisa says before finishing her beer and standing.
"Let's get this show on the road." Sonny says following suit. After they pay they walk out to the parking lot and get in Lisa's car. "I know you're not Nick's biggest fan, but that whole thing really rubbed ya the wrong way, didn't it?"
"It's just dumb. And for the record I could care less if he blows up his person life, but you and I both know that guys isn't capable of separating work and personal life. Which means when the shit hits the fan we are all going to have to deal with it."
"Listen Sonny, I just don't like him and every breath he takes pisses me off."
"Okay, I'll drop it." Sonny says as he drives back towards Lisa's apartment.
February 14th
Sonny swings the door open to the supply room Lisa was working in. "Hey Davis" He calls.
"I'm busy Quinn." She calls from between shelves.
"No, I couldn't tell." Sonny jokes.
"If you already know that, then why are you bothering me?" Lisa yells.
"I figured ya would want some time to get ready before we go out tonight." Sonny counters.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Lisa pops her head around the shelving unit. "Tonight is one of your favorite nights of the year, rescuing the poor lady that got stood up on Valentine's Day."
Sonny adjusts his hat, she had it the nail on the head. "Yeah, normally. But, uh thought we could do somethin a little different this year."
Davis walks across the room to meet him. "And what might that be?"
"So… Nick proposing to that chick gave me an idea." Sonny pauses.
"Sonny Quinn are you trying to tell me you are madly in love with me and you are going to propose to me tonight?"
"Listen here, maybe if ya'd shut the hell up long enough for me to tell ya, ya would already know." Sonny points a finger at her.
Lisa holds her hands up. "Gezz. Sorry. What do you have planned?"
"We're getting fake engaged, as many times as we can tonight." Sonny tells her.
"Why?" Lisa ask crossing her arms across her chest, unsure of how she felt about Sonny's plan.
"Why not?" He chuckles. "It'll be funny. Plus, let's see how much free shit we can get. I'm sick of all these happy couples getting shit when we know each other better than they do."
"Out of all your crazy ass plans Sonny." Lisa shakes her head.
"Shit, it's gonna be a good time." Sonny rests his hands on her shoulders and gently shakes her. "Relax and go with the flow Davis."
"Fine." Lisa groans. "This better not backfire on us."
"Damn Davis, it won't. Just trust me, okay?"
"Famous last words." Lisa pulls out of his grip. "Now go away, I have about an hour of work left. Question, how nice do I need to dress?"
"Ah." Sonny nods. "Our first target is the Italian place on 5th street."
Lisa looks him up and down. "That place is actually nice."
"What?" Sonny laughs knowing what she was thinking. "When was the last time a guy took ya out to a nice place and treated ya right?"
"Oh, you're going to treat me right?" Lisa stifles a laugh.
"First off, I maybe a bit of a man whore, but I always treat women with the up most respect. Second, I ain't tryin to get in your pants, so it will just be a fun time. Two besties hangin out and laughin the night away."
Lisa cocks an eyebrow at him. "A bit of a man whore?"
"Asshole." Sonny grumbles. "I'll pick ya up at 1930 sharp."
"I'm sorry, was that 1945?" Lisa jokes.
"Ya heard me." Sonny calls as he opens the door and walks out.
1930 Lisa's Apartment
Lisa was just putting the finishing touches on her makeup when Sonny knocked on the door. After a few seconds of hearing him not open the door she gets up and makes her way to the front door. "Did you lose your key?" She asks before looking up to find Sonny standing in front of her holding a bundle of roses.
"Thought ya should get the full effect." He shakes the roses.
"My, my Sonny Quinn." Lisa smiles. "Out of jeans and a T-shirt and with roses." She steps aside to allow him to walk into the apartment.
"I take that as I look damn good." He laughs as he hands her the roses she was reaching for.
"Yes Sonny, very handsome." Lisa chuckles.
"Now see, I know ya well enough to know that ya are bein smart right bout now, but I'm still gonna take the complement." Sonny follows her to the kitchen. "Ya look stunning by the way… If I'm allowed to tell ya that."
Lisa turns and smirks at him. "As long as you still don't try and get in my pants."
"I would never, you're my best friend, not my girl." Sonny can't stop himself from laughing. "That's why we get along so well."
"You're not wrong." Lisa laughs. "Neither one of us can keep a relationship together, yet here we are."
"Yes Ma'am. Now ya ready to go?" Sonny asks.
"Just let me grab my purse and yes." Lisa says hurrying back to her bedroom. "I know it's silly, but I'm kind of excited. Let's face it, I'll probably never get proposed to for real."
"Do ya want me to tell ya not to think like that?" Sonny asks.
Lisa shakes her head. "Please, no."
"You got it Davis." Sonny holds the front door open for her to walk through.
"Thank you." She says while locking the door. "So do I get a ring and everything?"
"That ya do. Now don't be mad that it set me back like a whole ten dollars." Sonny chuckles.
"What a big ballar you are." Lisa laughs as she slides into Sonny's truck. "How are we doing this?"
"You're gettin surprised." Sonny chuckles.
"At first I didn't know how I felt about all of this, but I'm warming to the idea." Lisa tells him.
"Glad to hear that, Davis."
"I still can't believe you went through all of this just to be funny." Lisa says as Sonny pulls his truck into the parking spot.
"I mean, why the hell not?" Sonny chuckles.
Sonny holds the restaurant door open for Lisa. "Oh my, so gentlemanly of you." Lisa smirks as she walks across the threshold. "You know, I have never been in here. It's actually nice."
"You're welcome." Sonny whispers. "Hi, Quinn party of two."
"Right this way." The hostess leads them to a table near the front window. "Please enjoy!"
"Thank ya." Sonny says pulling out Lisa's chair for her.
"Thank you." Lisa smiles as he scoots her in. "You know Sonny, if I'm being honest, I'm not used to being treated like this."
"That's a real shame, ya deserve the best." Sonny takes his seat.
"Do I now?" Lisa chuckles.
"Listen, just cause I don't have feelin for ya don't mean I can't see how ya should be treated." Sonny tells her.
"Well in that case, thank you Sonny." They order their drinks. "So, when is this happening?"
"I have done told ya that ya have to wait and see." Sonny smirks.
"I don't like that." Lisa crosses her arms across her chest.
"Too damn bad." Sonny tells her.
"You're enjoying this too much." Lisa scolds.
"Haven't I already told ya to just go with the flow?" Sonny asks with a cocked eyebrow.
"Because I do that so well." Lisa counters.
"It'll happen soon enough." Sonny takes a sip of his beer.
"Uh-huh." Lisa mumbles. "At least all of the food looks really good."
"Looks fancy as hell." Sonny chuckles.
"Do I need to remind you that you're the one who chose this place?" Lisa chuckles at the face he makes.
"I told ya I was gonna treat ya right, didn't I?" He defends.
"That you did." Lisa takes the first bite of her dinner. "Oh, it's delicious."
"Glad ya like it." Sonny tells her.
"How's yours?" Lisa asks.
"Better than I was expectin." Sonny mumbles with a mouth full.
"Good." Lisa smiles.
"I'll tell ya what Davis." Sonny pushes his empty plate towards the center of the table. "That was a damn fine meal."
"I would have to agree." Lisa nods as she watches their server coming towards them carrying a plate.
"Happy Valentine's Day." She says, sitting the dish containing chocolate cake and the ring down in front of Lisa.
'Game time.' Lisa tells herself. "Oh My God baby! Is this what I think it is? Are you proposing?"
Sonny stands and takes the ring off the plate before dropping to one knee. "Yeah baby I am. Would ya make the happiest guy in the world and marry me?"
Lisa jumps up and wraps her arms around his neck. "Yes. I can't believe you finally proposed."
They stand and Sonny places the ring on her finger. "Do ya like it?"
Lisa looks at the ring. "Oh it's so beautiful."
"I'm glad ya like it baby." Sonny smiles before they both sit back down.
Lisa leans forward and whisper. "That was fun."
"Told ya." Sonny chuckles. "Now, let me have soma that chocolate cake there."
"Anything for my fiancé." She smirks, pushing the dessert into the middle of the table.
"Best fiancé ever." Sonny chuckles reaching for the cake.
"Okay Sonny where to now?" Lisa asks as they walk out of the restaurant.
"That would be a bakery down a couple of blocks." Sonny opens his truck door for her.
"A bakery?" Lisa asks.
"Yeah." Sonny nods. "They give ya a free dozen of donuts if ya go in and tell them ya just got engaged."
"I'm sorry, but did you google all of this?" Lisa giggles.
"I may have." Sonny defends.
"Don't get defensive." Lisa pats his shoulder.
"Just wanted to make the most of the night." Sonny tells her.
"I'm glad you planned all of this out." Lisa tells him as they pull into a parking spot in front of the bakery in question. "Let's get some free donuts."
"Hell yeah." Sonny laughs as he jumps out of his truck. They walk inside the store. "Hi, um." Sonny loops his arm around Lisa's waist. "I just asked this amazin woman to be my wife."
The bakery erupts in applause. "Congrats. Let me get you guys a dozen of love nuts."
Sonny and Davis both struggle to keep a straight face. "Thank you so much." Lisa smiles. "That's so sweet of you guys to do that."
After they were out the door, Sonny turns to Lisa. "What in the fuck are love nuts?"
Lisa opens the box once they are back in his truck. "I'm guessing these heart shaped donuts."
"Damn, that's a whole new level of corny." Sonny chuckles.
"These are going to be great when we are drunk later." Lisa tells him.
"Okay so, two targets left." Sonny looks up at her. "And old-fashioned ice cream parlor and a bar."
"A bar? Sonny Quinn you are going to fake propose to me in a bar?"
"Listen here." Sonny points his finger at her. "We get two free drinks and two free shots each."
"Oh, that's sounding better." Lisa laughs. "I guess you need the ring back?"
"That would be helpful." Sonny reaches his hand out for it. "Thank ya."
"You better come up with something a little more creative this time." Lisa smirks.
"Well maybe ya could refrain from makin it sound like I have made ya wait a lifetime." Sonny shoots back.
"I'll think about it." Lisa tells him. "Oh, this is cute." She notes as they walk into the ice cream shop.
"Go grab a seat and I'll order." Sonny tells her.
Lisa had been seated for a couple of minutes when Sonny returned. "Nice of you to come back."
"No problem honey." Sonny shakes his head.
"How is this one going to play out?" Lisa asks.
"So damn impatient." Sonny comments.
"Oo here they come." Lisa says watching the waiter walking towards them.
"Thank ya." Sonny says.
"Milk shakes?" Lisa asks with a cocked eyebrow.
"Yes Ma'am." Sonny reaches out and takes her left hand that was laying on the table. "Listen honey, I love. Now I know we haven't been together for that long, but the moment I met ya I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my like with ya." Sonny watches a huge smile spread across her face. He had to hand it to her, she played the part well. "You're my dream girl and I want ya to be my forever. Will ya marry me?" He slides the right on to her ring finger.
"Yes, a million times yes I will be your wife." Lisa looks between him and the ring. "It's perfect."
"We're gonna get married." Sonny grins.
"Yes, we are." Lisa smirks. Why was she enjoying this so much?
"Ya ready to head out?" Sonny asks after they finished their milkshakes.
"That I am, my darling." Lisa says taking the hand he had extended down to her.
"Havin fun?" He whispers in her ear.
"So much." They walk outside and head back towards his truck. "I'll admit it, I thought you were crazy when you first told my about this idea, but I'm getting more and more into this."
"See, what the hell did I tell ya." Sonny chuckles.
"Just because I know you want to hear it, you were right." Lisa tells him.
"Why thank ya." Sonny backs out of the parking space. "Last one, should we go real dramatic?"
"We should." Lisa nods. "By the way that one was much better than the first."
"Well in all fairness, that was the first fake proposal of my life." Sonny points out. "This looks like the place."
"Awesome." Lisa pulls the ring off her finger and hands it back to Sonny. "You might need this again."
"Ah yes, thank ya." Sonny takes it back from her. Sonny opens the door for her. After they are in the bar, he feels her reach for his hand. "Holdin hands and all?"
"I just get the feeling that we need to sell this performance." Lisa responds.
"That's probably a good point." Sonny says as they walk towards the bar. "Can I get two beers please." He tells the bartender.
Lisa leans into him and wraps her arms around his waist. "Thank you." She smiles up at him.
Sonny leans his head down and whisper in her ear. "Why are we so natural at this?"
"That's a good question Mr. Quinn." Lisa reaches for her beer.
Sonny's hands glid down her sides, landing on her lower back. "Can I ask ya something beautiful?"
Lisa reaches up and strokes his cheek. "You know you can ask me anything handsome."
"Ya love me, right?" Sonny asks.
"You know I love you more than life itself." Lisa responds.
"Good, cause I, uh, I wanted to ask ya a real important question. One that can change our lives forever." Sonny pulls her a little closer to him.
"And what might that question be?" Lisa asks playing along.
"Lisa Davis." Sonny pauses doing his best to look nervous. "Will you marry me?"
"You want to marry me." Lisa squeals, drawing a good deal of attention to the two.
"Yeah honey I do. I wanna spend the rest of our lives together." Sonny tells.
"Do I get a ring?" She asks in the most loving tone she can muster.
"Oh, yeah, that's important ain't it?" Sonny says with a nervous chuckle. He pulls the ring box from his jacket pocket and opens the box. "A beautiful ring for an even more beautiful woman." He slips the ring on her finger.
"Sonny it's gorgeous." Lisa exclaims looking at her left ring finger. "I can't wait to marry you." She doesn't know what overtakes her but, she grabs Sonny's face and pulls him in for a deep kiss as everyone around them cheers.
(Flashback)
"You know Sonny that was technically our first kiss." Lisa tells him.
"And if I do remember it correctly ya kissed me that time too." He points out.
"Like you didn't like it, either time." Lisa smirks.
"If I'm bein honest, that night… it was one hell of a kiss, but in the back of my head I still kinda felt like I was kissing my sister."
"Good to know I wasn't the only one that was conflicted by it." Lisa giggles. "Glad we got past that." She pulls him into her by his tie.
"Me too baby." Sonny closes the distance between them and claims her lips with his.
