Set after 2x23 Living together must have been really fun
The team finally had the opportunity to relax. Percy was dead. Amanda was gone. Division was kind of gone as well. They only had to finish the job and close the place down. No more wars. Freedom was awaiting them. They were finally going to have a chance to live a normal life.
All heroes deserved to have a break though. The gang was exhausted from everything that had happened in the last few days, the last few months even. They all crashed into their rooms very early in the evening hoping to get a peaceful night of sleep. Hopefully the nightmares could finally end and they could start looking ahead towards their future.
Nikita and Michael took a quick shower and went straight to bed. Nikita was asleep within minutes in his arms. He chuckled and held her tighter, burrowing from her warmth. And soon he fell asleep as well. Not long after he woke up by a strange noise coming from somewhere nearby. He looked at the clock on his nightstand. They only went to bed three hours ago. No one should have been up. He listened some more. It was this strange, almost banging sound. It would stop and then it would start again.
At first he thought he was imagining it or was dreaming. What really confirmed his suspicions and made him fully wake up was hearing something being knocked over. Someone was breaking in or worse someone found their safe house.
He tried to calm himself down and get his mind clear. If someone had found them then they would have already stormed the house, or blown it. There were also security measures put in place all around the house. All their devices were synced in so they would have gotten an alert. There wasn't one on his phone. Michael came to the conclusion that he would just have to check it out himself to settle his nerves. He didn't want to leave Nikita alone, however, in case somebody was really in the house. She was knocked out next to him. He nudged her gently to wake her up.
"Nikita, baby, wake up, come on"
"What?" she murmured, not even opening her eyes.
"I keep hearing something. There is this like banging and things being knocked over. We have to go check." He kept touching her so she would stay awake. He wouldn't leave without her. Worst case scenario he would have to carry her.
"Did you have a nightmare?" Nikita barely opened her eyes to look at him and caressed his cheek. Michael used to often have these very vivid dreams. They were so realistic that she would have to remind him sometimes where he really was and that he was safe. He would also constantly go around the house in the middle of the night whenever he thought he heard something. And he always took her with him. The reason behind it was touching but most of the time she glared at him, not happy.
"No, I swear this was not a dream. I woke up from it. Please, let's just go and check." He kept being gentle but consistent with his touches.
"It's probably just Birkhoff with his girlfriends or he's playing video games without headphones again" She tried to make him lay down and cuddle. That had happened way too often. Birkhoff would often get carried away and forget that there were other people in the house trying to sleep. The thing with the video games was annoying but hearing him talking with girls online was so much worse for Michael and Nikita. And Birkhoff still had the audacity to say that the couple had no shame.
Michael hadn't thought about that but he quickly ruled it out "Birkhoff was the first one to go to bed. He was barely standing. There's no way he is awake right now doing something. " Nikita couldn't think of anything else to tell him. She tried to listen for anything but she was so sleepy that she couldn't focus.
"Please, lovely" He leaned in brushing his nose with hers and pouted his lips slightly. She sighed "I love you so much but I don't like you right now"
He chuckled, pleased "Thank you" and pecked her lips. She stumbled out of bed and threw a robe on. Michael grabbed their weapons. It was pointless and stupid to go check out a possible danger withoout being prepared for it. Nikita thought in this case however that there was something as too prepared.
"Since when do we have a rifle in our room?" she asked, looking at him questioningly. "Well,...you never know," Michael stuttered with an answer. She laughed and took a glock. She doubted they would use them. She could barely hold her laughter with the way they were creeping around.
In the hallway she did manage to hear something. She couldn't tell what it was though at first. It was like how Michael had described it. Something banging and there was some creaking. They neared Alex's room and the sound was more clear. At that moment Nikita knew and busted laughing. She tried to stay quiet, her hand flew to her month. Michael just threw her a very confused look.
"Michael, are you serious? You couldnt tell that they are having sex" more gigles followed. Michael wasn't convinced though "I think I would know what that sounds like and also Sean didn't stay over." Nikita couldn't believe him. It was so obvious. She just wanted to go back to their room before they heard more than they had to.
"He was still here when we went to bed though. Maybe something or someone changed his mind" Nikita smirked. She was glad that Alex and Sean finally got together. The constant dancing around each other was getting on everyone's nerves. She had heard about their kiss and was a witness to the constant banter and flirting after that.
"Even if he stayed, which I doubt" Sean wanted to go home and properly rest. It was always crazy at the safe house. He promised to return the next day. They had spare rooms so if he really wanted, Sean would have just stayed . "I think we should still check"
The couple was thinking very differently about the situation. Nikita was mortified by the thought of them walking in on Alex and Sean. First, that was never fun especially when they all lived together and would see each other in the morning. And second, they would totally ruin the new couple's moment.
Michael decided somewhere in the middle. "How about we knock. If they answer normally then everything is fine. If not we can go in" he suggested. Nikita still wasn't sure but it was better than just entering the room. "Okay, but you are going first if they don't answer and also give me that gun" She didn't want any accidents happening. If they did go in the room and she was certain that it was just Sean and Alex getting it on, the weapons wouldn't have helped.
Michael hesitated. "You don't believe I can have your back from here and cover you if necessary" she teased. Michael rolled his eyes and handed her the rifle. Then he turned around and knocked. Nikita was barely controlling herself. She couldn't wait to tell Alex about this tomorrow. Her boyfriend was about to bombarge in her room in full on kill mode while she was probably having the time of her life.
No one answered. The couple looked at each other. Even though they had agreed to go in if no one answered Nikita still didn't want to. The chances of Sean and Alex just not hearing them were high and understandable. Michael let her stay behind him and reached for the door handle.
As he was just about to push the door open loud moans came from the room. He immediately stepped away from the door. Nikita was on the floor laughing barely catching her breath. She had been right. Sadly, Michael had to experience that. Poor guy was trying to protect them and he got this. Luckily he hadn't opened the door and saw anything. The people on the other side also didn't seem to notice.
He quickly picked her up from the floor and almost jogged to their bedroom. There were tears streaming down her face at that point. They settled into their bed. He laid slightly on top of her burying his face in her neck groaning. "I can't believe myself"
"I'm sorry, my love. We can have fun tomorrow with that at least." she giggled. The taunts that were already forming in her head were making her chuckle. At least Michael's uncomfortableness at the moment was going to be worth it.
"Like how loud are they?" Michael couldn't figure out first, how he couldn't tell what the sounds were and second, how they were able to wake him up. Alex's room wasn't next to theirs.
"First time, baby, they have to embrace it" Nikita said, smirking. She loved teasing him. Michael groned even more. He didn't want to imagine Alex and Sean like that. Nikita was much better in these situations and was always able to laugh about them. She calmed down at least and soon sleep caught up to her.
"Now, that we are sure we are not under attack" she wrapped him in her arms and he held her tighter in return. "We are going to sleep and don't you even dare move from here" She glared trying to hide the smile that always crept up on her face when she looked at him. Michael cradled her cheek and brought his lips to hers. When they broke away he whispered "Trust me, I'm not going anywhere"
In the morning Nikita, Michael, Birkoff and Ryan were having breakfast in the kitchen. They all had slept in but still Alex and Sean were nowhere to be seen. Or just Alex to the rest. They didn't know Sean had stayed over. Nikita and Michael didn't say anything. Michael prefered to leave the taunts to Nikita while he enjoyed the situation next to her.
They were still at the dining table when the agents finally joined them. "Please tell me you haven't messed up my stuff in the guest bedroom." Birkhoff had turned it into his mini tech cave where no one could disturb him. When he saw Sean come out of the hallway that meant he had stayed the night which meant he had slept in the guest bedroom. Or so Birkhoff thought.
Nikita raised her eyebrows playfully at Michael and threw him a knowing look. He choked on his coffee trying to hide his laugh. Sean and Alex looked at each other. "Yeah..I haven't touched anything" Sean managed to respond. He and Alex had not talked about how they were going to tell the team they were officially together so he settled on a simple answer. He really hadn't touched any of Birkhoff's things.
Sean and Alex got coffee and breakfast and sat down with the team. Nikita and Michael found themselves in between them. Alex was by Nikita's side and Sean was next to Michael.
"How did you guys sleep?" Nikita asked casually. They both answered that they slept well. She continued "I'm glad. Michael and I had an interesting night. We kept hearing these weird sounds around midnight - 1 am something like that. We even got up to check."
Ryan and Birkhoff grew concerned. Nikita was only paying attention to the glances Sean and Alex were throwing at each other. "There were no alerts from the security system. Did you find anything?" Birkhoff was very proud of his invention. No one should have been able to even near the house without them knowing.
Michael decided to join the discussion and help his girl out in her secret teasing "No, we didn't find anything. Maybe it was animals or just the house. I'm surprised Alex had slept through it. The sounds were stronger from that end of the house." Nikita tried to hide her smirk and fist bumped Michael under the table.
Alex caught that little interaction and her eyes widened. Sean and her were definitely caught by Nikita and Michael. From what she observed they hadn't told the others anything so at least that was good. She didn't need Birkhoff's commentary as well. Ryan and Birkhoff shrugged. It clearly wasn't something to worry about so they continued their conversations as normal until eventually they all scattered around the house.
Alex found Nikita in the kitchen making one of her veggie shakes. She decided to ask what she had heard and find out how bad it actually was. She cleared her throat on purpose to let her know of her presence and also hint at what she wanted to talk about.
Nikita grinned "Well, well took you long enough" she teased while pouring her veggie shake into a glass. She expected Alex cornering her to talk at some point. She was surprised that it actually took hours. "Yes, me and Sean are together. He stayed last night. Clearly I don't need to explain more because you know already" Alex signed and sat down on a barstool.
Nikita followed smirking "Believe me it could have been way worse" she told Alex what had happened. Even though it had already passed, Nikita could still barely hold her laughter. Alex, on the other hand, was mortified. She just imagined Michael busting the door open with a gun while Sean and her….nope she didn't want to picture that. It was enough that they had heard them.
Alex groaned. "Oh, come on. You'll live. Might have been the first time but it certainly won't be the last" Nikita patted her on the shoulder chuckling. She had lost count on the amount of times someone from their team has heard her and Michael or walked in on them. At the beginning they were not as careful but even now it still happened on occasions. There was no escaping from it. Thank god they were getting their own place.
"Okay, we're done here" Alex quickly moved to the living room to join the others. Nikita laughed. She was happy for Alex despite all of the teasing. Her best friend deserved to be happy. Nikita followed her. They all could hopefully have another peaceful day and plan what was next.
