Valentine's Day Special | Part 2
He followed after her. They finally ended up in the kitchen together and started on their breakfast. Making breakfast together when they were so wrapped up in each other was maybe not a good idea. Half of the pancakes were burned. They were supposed to make eggs as well but they kind of forgot. Kissing, holding each other, teasing and laughing together was way more important.
They still made a delicious breakfast, though, and thoughtfully enjoyed it. After they cleaned up they got dressed and proceeded with Nikita's half of the day. Her idea was to do everything they could in their free time together. First, they went on a walk (more like a hike for him) around the area of the house. Nikita had loved exploring it when she was overwhelmed with anxiety and had found a few amazing spots. Michael was surprised how much he enjoyed it at the end. It wasn't something they had ever done but he was sure to do it more in the future. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing.
When they returned they intended to have a quick shower and do the next thing she had in mind. However, when they were still in the bathroom drying off Nikita thought of something else. He always took great care of her so she decided spontaneously that she should return the favour. Her last period had gifted her a breakout. It had cleared up but to make sure her skin was taken care of she was doing a mask and a few more extra treatments. Since they were going to do everything together she thought it would be fun to include him as well. They didn't get dressed fully and stayed in their underwear.
Nikita revealed her idea to him. He wasn't sure about it but she seemed excited so he agreed. She jumped on the counter and he stepped between her parted legs hugging her. She giggled and returned his love. Then she finished with her face and moved on to his. Michael might have agreed to her idea but he wasn't helping her at all. He kept distracting her with kisses and gentle touches.
She was cleaning his face while he softly caressed her and stole a kiss or two "Michael.." she giggled "Just a second and I will give you a kiss."
"Well, what if my life depended on your kisses?" he softly mumbled. "What?" Nikita laughed. That was the only thing she could do at that point. Michael was adorable and so determined to not do anything else but shower her with all his affection "You already have enough to last you a lifetime"
He frowned, pretending not to appreciate the comment. That got Nikita to giggle even more. She didn't like the absence of his gorgeous smile though so she stopped what she was doing and gave him all her attention until he was happy again.
"How about this? After each step, I will give you as many cuddles and kisses as you want." Michael was more content now and agreed to not interrupt what she was doing anymore. It was actually pretty nice after he let her do all these things he had no clue about. He felt the muscles on his face relax and afterwards he was shocked at how soft his skin was. Nikita was very happy about that.
After they were done it was already lunch time. Yesterday Michael had bought things to make pizzas. He had a menu for their dinner already so he mentioned to Nikita that he wanted to do the pizzas for lunch. It was still her part of the day. She loved his idea and they got started.
The kitchen island was a total mess of flour and the sink was full of dishes but their pizzas turned out pretty good so that was a win no matter what. They enjoyed lunch out on the little patio the house had at the back. It was still a really nice day so they stayed outside.
They brought the board games out, played music, talked about anything that came to mind but most importantly spent quality time with each other. They had realized how much time had passed. It was already almost 5 pm. Michael had to get going with his plan.
The only thing that he told Nikita was that they were going to have a romantic dinner and that they were dressing up. She had expected it and she already had the perfect dress in mind. What got her curious and surprised was the fact that she was banned from entering their room. She had to get her things and get ready in the guest bedroom. She also had to entertain herself for at least 30 minutes while Michael was doing something in their room.
"I don't want to leave you but I promise it's worth it. You haven't done yoga today. I'm actually surprised that wasn't one of the things we did" She could do that while she waited. And he actually did expect her to bring it up today so they could do it together.
"I was tempted but I wanted for both of us to enjoy it" She had thought about it but the hike had sounded more like something they would both like and it would help them relax.
"I do enjoy it. I'm just not on your level" He was terrible. Yoga worked muscles he never knew he even had. He understood why Nikita loved it so much but that still didn't help his struggle every time he joined her.
"Yes, because you don't want to do the beginner stuff." Nikita played yoga beginner videos when he agreed to join her but he always insisted on following what she usually did. She tried to make the moves easier but with not much luck.
"There's no way I will make you do those when you can do so much more. It does nothing for you" Yoga helped her relax and he didn't want to ruin it for her.
"It does more than you know when you are there with me" she looked adoringly at him and pecked his lips. She really didn't care what they did as long as they were together.
He kissed her back appreciatively and shortly after regretfully pulled away. He had to get going. Nikita decided to not torture him longer and went and got her things out of their room. She got her mat outside and started doing yoga.
Michael had hidden all the bags from the shop yesterday in the garage. He got them out, locked the room (he didn't even know why) and got started. At the store, he had found a box of 50 fake candles that had even timers on them. So when they went to the bedroom in the evening it was going to be lit up already. He arranged all the rose petals in a little path and made a heart with them on the floor in front of the bed. He decided to leave the bed bare since they were going to ruin it anyway.
Once everything was perfect he wrapped her gift and left it on the dresser by the door so he could remember to take it with him. He was going to give it to her at dinner. Nikita was outside on the patio still. It looked like she had in fact decided to do yoga because she was sitting on her mat outside. He sat down behind her and kissed her cheek. They snuggled for a bit but time was ticking. "Do you want to go get ready while I make dinner or help me cook? I'm not opposed to either, it's whatever you decide."
"How about I take on the role of the assistant of the chef. That way nothing is burned and the kitchen is not a tornado" They both laughed and agreed with the plan and got started. Nikita was supposed to be the helper but Michael was doing absolutely everything. He set everything up for her on the kitchen island while he was making something on the stove. He gave her a task and after she was done he didn't forget to reward her. Nikita loved that silly, soft side of him. He never let anyone else see it and that made her feel very special.
It was almost time for dinner. Everything was done. Micheal sent Nikita to get ready while he set up the table and he went to get dressed as well. He was scrambling to get dressed because he wanted to do something and he had to be ready before her. Thankfully he succeeded. When Nikita opened the door to leave the guest bedroom she saw Michael leaning against the wall with a bouquet of flowers.
Michael opened his mouth to say something but was totally stunned. He knew he had the most gorgeous, beautiful, amazing girl in the world but she still managed to take his breath away every time. Her hair was curled loosely and was falling gracefully on her shoulders. She was wearing a red silk dress that complimented her body. She was gorgeous. Michael would never stop telling her how amazing she looked in red.
He bit the inside of his lip and couldn't stop looking her up and down. Nikita loved that attention from him. "You know when I drop dead in a few seconds could you make sure they have the cause of death right - a heart attack from being in the presence of goddess" He wrapped her in his arms and kissed her. She melted. He always made her feel amazing about herself no matter if she was wearing a dress or workout clothes. In fact, the first time had compared her to a goddess she had been naked.
"You got something for me?" Nikita whispered over his lips.
"Poppies for you, poppet" he handed her the bouquet. The flowers had a special meaning in different ways and the cheesiness of it all got Nikita to chuckle.
"Shall we, my love?" He stole another kiss before taking her hand. Michael had also set the table very pretty and romantic. The whole atmosphere of the night was magical. They had a lovely dinner, opened the gifted bottle of wine as well as the stolen ones. Remisied about old funny memories between them laughed, teased and expressed their love to one another.
Michael decided that it was a good time to give her the present. They had cleaned up the table so the only things that remained were the candles and their glasses of wine. He left the little rectangular box that was wrapped all nicely in front of her. She still felt kind of bad that she wasn't able to get him anything. Michael sensed that.
"I almost balled my eyes out this morning from your surprise. It's just a little something that I saw and thought of you. So stop and enjoy it." He intertwined their fingers and brought her hand to his lips. She unwrapped the bow and wrapping paper and got the little box out. She opened it and gasped. "Did you actually come across it by accident?" she chuckled amused.
"Yeah" He smiled dreamily "I couldn't believe my luck actually. Turn it around. There is a flower on one side and a bouquet of flowers on the other. So you can wear it however you like"
Nikita got the necklace out to fully look at it. It was a gold necklace with а little gold circle plate that was engraved on both sides. On one side there was a flower- a poppy, on the other there was a bouquet of poppies.
The flower was a little thing between them. Back in Division when Nikita had first moved into her apartment he had left a bouquet of poppies in a vase in her apartment. She didn't know at the time that it was him who did that but on her birthday he did the same thing as well so she put the two together. They never talked about it until they got together years after.
Michael had slipped up a few times and called her poppy/poppet until Nikita had finally asked how that nickname came to be. It was a really touching story that melted Nikita's heart. It went back to Michael's childhood. His mother's favourite flowers were poppies. She loved the symbols and the beauty of them. So much so that if Michael had a sister she was going to be named Poppy. His mother was sweet towards everyone and almost never called anyone by their name. She had sweet nicknames for everyone. The most common one was poppy/poppet and she used it for the people she loved most.
Michael hadn't realized it had rubbed on him after years. The last time he used it was when he was little. It felt incredibly right at that moment when he used it for Nikita for the first time so he continued. He should have known he felt a stronger connection to Nikita back in the Division. He had grown up with the beauty and meaning of the flowers so the fact that he got them specifically for her on a few occasions should have made it clear to him. They were a part of him that had been buried and without her even knowing it she was seeing a very vulnerable side of him.
So that's how the nickname stuck and he used it only in the sweetest of moments which made it even more special. And he continued to buy her those same flowers. So when he saw the necklace he thought it was perfect.
"I love it so much" she got from her chair and sat on his lap, kissing him sweetly. "Do you want me to put it on?" he asked when they pulled away. She reached over the table where she left the necklace and handed it to Michael.
She decided to go with the side that had the bunch of poppies. He put it on and sealed it with a kiss on her neck. She settled on top of him and decided she wasn't returning to her seat. Michael had no complaints about that. They continued drinking and talking.
After a while, Michael decided to switch things up and have a dance with his love. They swayed to a few slow songs and had their little romantic moments. It was truly magical and so perfect. Then a song came on that was oh too familiar for them. It was a tango song.
Back in their Division days as partners, they had an undercover mission as professional dancers. Luckily Division provided dancing lessons for every recruit so that wasn't the problem. Nikita and Michael had practised that routine so many times to make sure their cover wasn't going to be blown in the first second, that before the mission even started both of them absolutely despised that song.
Now it got them laughing, however. What were the odds that that exact song out of all would start playing? "Do you remember it?" Michael smirked and lifted an eyebrow suggestively. "How dare you even ask that!" she got onto him. He was daring her to dance and she wasn't going to back down.
They really remembered every step and move. That wasn't the issue. The tango was a very sharp and passionate dance. Michael and Nikita definitely had the passion and it was overflowing actually. The alcohol didn't help the smoothness of the steps, though. The couple almost tripped and fell not once but three times and counting.
It got them laughing so much at least. At the end of it, Michael just picked Nikita up. She giggled and wrapped her legs around his waist firmly. She brushed her forehead against his and they kissed more passionately than before. Michael started walking to their bedroom while trying to keep their kisses still somewhat innocent. He nudged her to let go and told her to wait until he pulled her in the room.
Nikita whined. She was really impatient but he promised it was only going to be a few seconds. He checked the room. Everything was perfect. He opened the door and let her come in.
Nikita's mouth gaped open. Their room was lit up with candles everywhere and flower petals all over the floor. No one had ever done anything remotely close for her. She had even forgotten about the fact that he disappeared for a bit to do something in their room so it really came as a surprise to her at that moment.
"Do you like it?" Michael asked softly while grinning from ear to ear.
Nikita looked at him as if he had said the most stupid thing ever. "Michael, are you fucking kidding me. This is..it's amazing" she jumped back into his arms and they nearly fell over. They were too distracted to care though. Passionate kisses returned and the only goal they had was to get each other naked as fast as possible.
Hours passed of heated touches, breathtaking kisses and countless declarations of love. Even though they were growing tired they just couldn't stop. They had each other, they were together and Nikita and Michael were sure they were never going to get over that. Every time they touched and kissed it fueled the fire burning inside for each other even more.
Wrapped up in their love's arms they eventually gave in to their exhaustion. Nikita was first to doze off. Michael chuckled softly and kissed her temple sweetly, whispering "I love you, poppet."
Hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'm sorry if you barely got through the poppy story haha. So basically I love the nickname "poppet" and I actually do love the strong historical meaning behind the flower - poppy. I wanted to use the nickname for so long but I had no idea how to incorporate it. No idea if it makes sense in English but we do it in my country. So let me know if you liked it and thank you for reading xx
