Set sometime between seasons 2 and 3: The girls having some time together

"Okay, I have something to ask, but please don't make it weird" Alex looked straight toward Nikita. Sonya chuckled. If Alex was warning them before even saying anything they were in for a ride. By the look she threw at Nikita she didn't even want to guess what kind of conversations they've had over the years. She was happy to just tag along.

The two best friends had encouraged Sonya to join them on numerous occasions on their adventures. She hesitated at first but got to know them through the time they spent together while setting up the New Division. They were very warm and welcoming to her. She guessed a part of it had to do with her and Birkhoff kinda going out. The rogues very rarely brought it up though. Actually, she was the one that brought it up in conversations. Nikita and Alex were far more interested in Sonya as a person. She did help them for a period of time while inside Division.

Sonya was invited to spend the evening with them at Nikita and Michael's place. It was her first time visiting their apartment. Alex was probably feeling already at home there, she guessed. Birkhoff had also spent time with the couple at their apartment. Now it was her turn.

The boys were all out for the evening. Sean had managed to persuade Michael to go to a hockey game with him. Michael was more of a basketball and football kind of guy but eventually agreed. They even managed to drag Birkhoff and Ryan with them. They were getting way too buried in their work and needed some time in the real world.

As soon as Alex learned about their boys' night she declared a girls' night at Nikita's place. "You always find a way to invite yourself over" Nikita quipped and Alex rolled her eyes. She knew Nikita loved having her over. She even got a drawer with Alex's favourite snacks but she wouldn't admit they were specifically for Alex. They decided to get Sonya involved as well. They were enjoying her company and it was always fun with more people.

Since it was Sonya's first time at the apartment, and Nikita and Michael had moved in fairly recently, she felt like she should get them something as a housewarming gift. The tech originally thought about going with the classic choices - a bottle of wine, a candle maybe or some decor. While she walked around a store she stumbled on the perfect gift. It was almost like it was faith. She quickly paid and headed over to her friends.

"Hey, you made it" Nikita greeted her excitedly. Alex was already sprawled out on the couch but she didn't look very happy. Sonya didn't have time to focus on that because she was warmly greeted by Nikita. "Hey, sorry for taking so long. This complex is very confusing." Sonya had gotten lost three times trying to find the apartment. "You should have called. Almost everyone gets lost when coming here." Nikita reassured her. She was actually the quickest to find her way and wasn't actually late.

Nikita took her coat and led her to the living room where Alex was. The young woman smiled at her and said hello despite her being visibly upset about something. "Oh, I almost forgot. I might be a little bit late but still, I got you and Michael a little something for the new place" Sonya eagerly handed the bag to Nikita.

The agent did not expect it. She thought it was very sweet for her friend to do that. "Oh my god, you didn't have to." She took the bag. Alex moved to see what the present was. At least that could distract her and make her smile. Nikita pulled out two big wooden letters (N' and 'M') connected in the middle with a heart. "Aww, I love this. Thank you so much" Nikita gave Sonya a big, tight hug. She absolutely loved her gift. She even thought of the perfect place for it. Michael had turned the top of one of the dressers in the living room into 'an altar of their relationship' as Birkhoff called it. It had a whole bunch of picture frames and little gifts they had gotten each other.

"Sonya I thought you were on my team" Alex quipped. Nikita rolled her eyes. The hacker was very confused. She had definitely missed something. At least she was happy with Nikita's reaction. She wasn't familiar with the couple's taste so something sentimental like that was a safe option.

Nikita got up from the couch and placed the letters on the dresser and rearranged it so the photo frames were around the new addition. Just as she was done. Michael emerged from the hallway. "Look what Sonya got us as a housewarming gift." Nikita excitedly showed the present and the new display she had made. Michael absolutely loved it.

"That's amazing, love" he stole a quick kiss from her and moved to the couch. "Thank you, Sonya, it's lovely" he then looked at Alex "See, that's what nice people do" Alex threw a cushion at him. Nikita chuckled and sat down next to Sonya while Michael and Alex were on opposite sides of the couch.

"What did I miss?" Sonya mumbled to Nikita. The agent just chuckled. They probably looked insane to her right now but oh well. She explained the turn of events. The plan for the evening had been that the girls would be at Nikita and Michael's place while the boys were doing their thing. Sean was the 'uber driver' for the night because there wasn't going to be much parking space anyway. He was going to pick up Birkhoff and Ryan and Michael last because he was the closest to the arena.

However, Sean somehow got the time of the game wrong and it was actually much later so when Alex came over and found that half of their girls' night was going to be in the company of Michael she wasn't very happy. Not that she didn't like Michael. They were close friends but she didn't want to be third-wheeling. Michael taunted her for her reaction so that's what made Alex upset.

Sonya busted laughing just imagining the scene. Michael and Nikita laughed along with her as well. Alex rolled her eyes. Michael sat down next to Alex and started bumping her shoulder with his. She in return did the same and tried to push him off. Eventually, after a while of them doing that, her frown disappeared and was replaced with a smile.

"Come on, it's your boyfriend's fault. I always leave you girls to hang out whenever you want to" The reason Alex was actually upset was that she missed Nikita. Now that they had more free time she naturally wanted to spend it with her best friend. Michael, however, had decided to be the best boyfriend of the century and was constantly taking Nikita somewhere. At times Michael and Alex had to schedule times with her. Nikita found it absolutely hilarious but adorable. It made her feel special and loved.

"Fine, you get a pass this time" Alex rolled her eyes and let him off. It really wasn't his fault. Sonya was so confused about how it went from Alex being upset to her being happy in seconds. Nikita easily read her reaction "She is a literal child. You can always win her over with some ice cream as well."

The four of them hung out and laughed for a bit more until Michael got a text. Sean was finally there to pick him up along with the other boys. He said goodbye to his girl with a few kisses. Alex made him threaten Sean that he was going to face consequences for messing up. She was joking of course but wanted to play with him like that for changing her plans.

The girls, now alone, naturally drifted to some more interesting and frisky topics. Alex started first with her question. "Okay, go. I promise I will try to be as educational as possible" Nikita put a hand on her heart trying to be serious but she failed. Alex rolled her eyes but continued. "The other night Sean and I got a little frisky on the balcony and…"

"You fucked on the balcony?" Nikita gasped and laughed. She was surprised. She didn't think Alex would ever have sex out like that. She was usually more private. "That's actually very common. You haven't heard of it?" Sonya chimed in. Alex's revelation didn't shock her. Nikita's reaction did so more.

"No, people fuck in all sorts of places. We have done it on our balcony as well. I am more surprised that Alex was comfortable enough to do it kind of out in public." Nikita shared while sipping her wine. She was enjoying where the conversation was going.

"You moved in a couple of weeks ago when did you manage - you know never mind. I am good not knowing that information" Alex didn't think before opening her mouth. She definitely didn't want to know the details. She just wanted to share her story. At least her friends could help her if they had also had a similar experience.

Nikita chuckled and nudged her to continue. "It was already dark outside so I assumed it would be fine. At least your balcony is somewhat hidden" she indicated at Nikita. "I forgot I had a string of lights on the curtains that have a timer so at some point, while we were… busy, they had turned on. We were there for a while after butt naked. I got cold so we got up to go back inside and I saw my neighbour sitting comfortably on a chair on his balcony staring at us. I could just tell he had seen the whole thing" Alex barely got through the story.

Nikita was almost on the floor laughing along with Sonya. "It's not funny. You can see everything on the balcony with those damn lights." Alex whined. More giggles followed. Alex wanted to disappear. The girls eventually took pity on her and reassured her that it wasn't a big deal. "I mean is that fucking creepy of him? Absolutely, but it is not something to die over" Nikita spoke when she calmed down a bit.

"Then, please, tell me you have stories like that" Alex really needed to hear that she wasn't alone in this. "I mean you have caught us plenty of times, but I don't think strangers have. We have probably annoyed a lot of people at those motels we stayed at before we moved in with Birkhoff though. We absolutely didn't care and I'm surprised we never got kicked out." Nikita shared. She and Michael couldn't separate back then. Sparks were flying with every little glance and they had to just have each other.

"God, those poor people" Alex gagged imagining it. The couple really had no shame and if they were alone (at least in their little world) they weren't going to hold back. They barely contained themselves when they were all living in a safe house together. "You did a whole performance for your neighbour." Nikita threw it right back at Alex. They all had those sorts of moments. She wasn't the only one.

Alex tried to push her off the couch but Nikita managed to get away from her reach. Sonya tried to settle them down with her own story. "I also don't think I have been caught by strangers or at least I haven't noticed it. But, I guess probably. My high school boyfriend and I's go-to place to have sex was in his car because we both lived with our parents and shared rooms with siblings"

Nikita gasped and pushed Alex "And you said I was a horny bitch for having sex in a car"

"That's totally different. Sonya had no choice. You made Michael pull over just to have sex at that moment. You couldn't wait what 20-30 minutes to get home?" Alex stated. It was two different scenarios and Nikita couldn't compare them. "First, he started it and I just finished it. Second, you were home waiting for me" Nikita declared. She was done being teased over it.

"Okay, I'm missing something here" Sonya hadn't heard about that story and was very confused. "Wait, when was this?" Alex was also confused. She only knew they had had sex on the side of the road. She didn't need more information to tease her best friend so she didn't bother listening more at the time for the rest of the story. Nikita rolled her eyes and decided to share more so for Sonya than Alex. She didn't tell her best friend when it happened because it felt weird and out of place to say but she was done with being taunted over it.

"Michael and I had just mended things between us. So naturally every time we were alone things happened. We had gone out to do something like getting ammo, I think. We were driving home. The house was supposed to be empty for the night so we started riling each other up from the car. We are halfway home and I get a lovely text from my favourite person that she had decided to come over and was almost at the house" Nikita explained. Sonya started laughing "At least she texted you"

"Yeah, can you imagine…" Nikita couldn't get that image off her mind now "We barge in, clothes flying everywhere and Alex is on the couch waiting to hang out or watch a movie or something" Both Sonya and Nikita started teasing Alex about it. "So you had sex in the car because of that?" Alex rolled her eyes and ignored them. She didn't want to imagine how awkward for her it would have been.

"Oh, I would have been so irritated if we hadn't done it in the car. I was way too far gone for that. So I just told him to pull over" Nikita and Michael were practically ready to have each other any second at that moment and really didn't want to have to pause that for later. "I still can't believe he did it." Alex shared. It wasn't like Michael to do something so spontaneous.

"Well, I told him that we either fuck at that moment there or wait hours for when we go to bed and on top of that we would have to be quiet. I didn't even need to persuade him with that actually. He was already pulling over." When she received the text from Alex she was determined to think of something so she could have time with Michael alone. Luckily he was on the same page so he instantly agreed to her idea.

"You live with Birkhoff also. Why am I the problem?" Alex couldn't understand what the difference between her and Birkhoff was. The couple had had sex when he was in the house. "He blasts music in his room every night. He won't even hear if a bomb exploded right outside his door let alone hear us from the other side of the house. Why do you think there are only stories of him walking in on us. If he had ever heard us having sex we wouldn't have heard the end of it" It was easy for Michael and her to enjoy their alone time with him around especially when they really tried to stick to just their bedroom.

"Oh, yeah he told me how he always picked the farthest room away" Sonya added. Birkhoff had told her so many stories from their time living together. It gave Sonya the opportunity to get their dynamics between each other better. And she could also now better understand the different teases they exchanged in conversations.

"Why is he acting like he was the greatest fucking housemate? He played video games at 3 am on these fucking huge speakers in his room. The first time he did it Michael was going to shoot him and I'm not even joking" Birkhoff had been just as bad. There was so much more to it than just the video games but Nikita decided to hold some things back for Sonya's sake. And also she didn't want it to become awkward when she mentioned the part about his online flings.

"Was he that pissed?" Alex asked. Michael was always on guard but he never jumped into action without an actual threat. Alex didn't get if that was what had happened or if he was just mad at the nerd that he woke them up. "No, he thought we were being attacked. What else would you think if you heard gunshots ring through the whole house? And on top of that, I was nowhere near him when he woke up so that sent him off completely" Nikita could laugh about it now but it was definitely not funny at the time.

"Well, that's over now at least and you won't have to worry about me interrupting your special time with Michael" Alex returned the teasing back on Nikita. "At least I was respectful. Your neighbour can't say the same thing about you" The rogue had her response ready.

"I feel like it's so much worse to hear your friends having sex than seeing it" Sonya shifted the conversations so they could settle again. She was enjoying having a proper girls' chat. "Definitely" Nikita confirmed with no hesitation. "Why though?" To Alex, they were both just as horrific.

"Well if you hear someone having sex they still don't know that you can hear them. However, when you walk in on a couple they are aware of your presence" Sonya explained to her. Alex thought about it but still, she would just rather not hear or see it. Nikita and Sonya laughed and continued sharing more stories throughout the evening jumping from one topic to another easily. They had a fantastic time laughing, playing around and enjoying each other's company. It was simple and normal yet so rare for them. They really cherished it.

The time between seasons 2 and 3 has so much potential for happy, funny and calm moments like these. I love writing them so sorry for the overload of things in that time period. Thank you so much for your lovely reviews!
