"It's just a normal fever," Roger concluded after he examined Light. He was a man as old as Watari. They were colleagues since high school. He put down his stethoscope and leaned away from Light who lay on the bed. Roger rose from his chair looked up to L who stood beside him, "I will give him a tablet to turn down his fever. Has he eaten anything yet?"

"Since he never leaves this room after I escorted him this morning, I think he has not eaten anything," L informed, "There is nothing edible in this room."

Roger looked at Watari who stood behind them. "I think a light meal will be enough for now. He is tired. He needs to eat. An even smaller portion is good for him now," Roger told Watari. The other old man nodded and noted, "I will inform Suseri to prepare for it." Then, he left.

"Keep him hydrated. Drinking water will help his fever to cool down," Roger suggested. L nodded.

He said, "I think I'll call you again after Light gets better. I prepared one of my rooms on the ground floor to be an examination room." L added, "I told Watari to buy an ultrasound machine to check Light's pregnancy and anything necessary for the examination. You may check it later. If there is anything you need regarding pregnancy examination, just tell me."

Roger nodded, "I understand." He looked down at Light. "It's hard to believe this young man is pregnant."

"Indeed," L agreed. He raised his thumb to his lips. "That's why you can't tell anyone about this, Roger. I only trust you and Watari to examine the baby. Plus, you are the best doctor I know."

Roger chuckled, "Because your parents made me one." He sighed fondly, "I thought your line will die with you. You barely attracted to anyone, let alone having sex with someone."

L commented, "People keep saying that."

At that time, Light opened his heavy eyes slightly. His face was red due to his fever. His eyes found L and Roger. Weakly, he asked, "Who…?"

"This is Roger Ruvie, Light. He is the doctor I told you about this morning. He is the head of the orphanage where Matt, Mello, and Near have stayed," L introduced them.

"Nice to meet you, Light," Roger greeted him.

"Likewise, Dr. Ruvie," said Light.

"Please, just call me Roger," he smiled. "You have a high fever. I will give you a pill but you should take it after you eat." He showed him a box of that pill and put it on the side table near the bed.

Light nodded weakly. He felt a headache and his hand moved to his head to massage it. He was trying to sit up when Watari entered the room with Suseri in tow. She brought a bowl of chicken soup and placed it on the side table beside a bowl of apples. Watari put down the water he brought on that table as well.

"This soup will warm your stomach," Suseri smiled at him. Light said his gratitude to both her and Watari.

"Take a rest as much as you need, Light," Roger advised. He stood up, "I will see you again to do your pregnancy check-up in a few days. I wish you will be better soon."

"Thank you, Roger," said Light politely.

Roger walked towards the door along with Suseri. When L turned his body in the same direction, Watari stopped him with, "Where do you think you will be going, L?"

The detective turned his head to Watari who stood beside Light because he helped the Japanese teenager to sit up. "To the investigation room. I have new cases to look at."

"I'm afraid you don't have time for that. It will wait until tomorrow," Watari stepped closer to L.

"Why?" He asked.

Watari turned his head in Light's direction, "Light is sick. You should take care of him."

L followed his suit to find Light looked at them with a frown. His question was directed to Watari, "Again. Why?"

"I can take care of myself, Watari," Light was offended by the suggestion. He was not weak. That was exactly what L thought. It was nothing serious so L believed Light can manage to eat and drink the medicine on his own.

"I beg your pardon, Light," Watari started, "It was not my intention to offend you in any way but I think you two should spend time together to know each other."

Both geniuses stared at Watari. Their faces were void of any expression but inside their head, they were questioning Watari's suggestion. What was the point of that? They knew each other since April. L knew Light was Kira. Light knew Ryuuzaki was L. Light reminded the old gentleman, "We were living together when I was handcuffed with Ryuuzaki, Watari."

"I know that. I observed you two every day," Watari smiled. As if he knew the doubts on L and Light's, he elaborated, "You two will be a parent and soon to be married. Being a married couple, you two have to be together in sickness and health." At that point, L and Light knew what Watari meant. "If L is serious about taking his responsibility, he should not just put money as the only method to be responsible but he needs to do it by himself."

Watari smiled gently at both of them, "L, you will be a father. How can you take care of your child if you don't take care of Light first? He is the one who carried your baby." He said to the younger man, "And Light, I know you are an independent person. You don't depend on anyone. But, you will need L's help when you raise the child. Marriage is teamwork. You will find it's different teamwork you used to do like when you solving the case with L." Then, Watari left them alone to let his words sink in. He knew with IQ as high as them will understand.

Like Watari's predicted, both of them indeed thought over his words. They both agreed inwardly that Watari had a point but they didn't do anything just yet. They just freeze on the spot as they think what they should say or do. Unfortunately, Ryuk's patient was wearing thin. He decided, "Light! Give me an apple!"

Both of the humans looked at Ryuk who did his 'lack of Apple' syndrome. L never saw Ryuk look like he has no bone as his hand and torso were in the opposite position. He nibbled his thumb again. "What are you doing?" He was curious.

"He always becomes like that if he doesn't eat an apple," Light replies. He reached an apple and tossed it to Ryuk who take it happily.

"Why didn't he just take the apple himself?" L noticed Light took it to give it to Ryuk. "He can just grab it from the bowl."

"Ryuk can only eat something that I touch and give him. Mostly because I'm the owner but anyone who can see him after they touch the note can give him an apple too. But, he can't take it by himself," Light explained.

"It's not written in the rules section." L head to Light and sat on the chair where Roger sat to examine him before.

"No." Ryuk snickered, "I didn't know apples are so delicious so I never write about us, Shinigami, eating human's food."

"I see," L's eyes were on the soup bowl. He reached the bowl and stirred it with a spoon. Light watched cautiously. When L took a spoon of the soup between his thumb and index finger, he brought it to Light's lips. His lips opened to sound like, "Say 'Aaaa'."

"What are you doing, Ryuuzaki?" Light raised an eyebrow.

"Feeding you," L stated.

Light insisted, "Why? I can eat by myself. You can go to your investigation room."

"Courting is not my expertise, Light. I apologize for earlier but I'm trying here."

"You don't have to take care of me."

"I know Light is capable by himself. Indeed, I don't have to," L's tone softened a bit, "but I want to."

Light was genuinely surprised at L's bluntness. It was not the first time L was honest about them (like when L admitted Light was his first friend and such) but it still caught Light off guard. Locking eyes with L, he knew he has no reason to decline. So, he opened his lips and let L feed him.

Ryuk who enjoyed his apple looked at them while inwardly laughing. He remembered seeing this kind of scene when he watch those romance dramas with Misa. To be honest, Ryuk was surprised Light allowed himself in this position. Pity, when L and Light were hand-cuffed together, Ryuk was not there. Something interesting must be happened between them to make Light change. Other than the making baby thing, mind you. Ryuk knew Light's patterns when he was courting girls. The sweet-talking, the skinship, or anything along the line. Yet, he didn't do it or say it at all. Not once.

Either Light was truly in love or it was nothing. Ryuk bet it was the former one. Light was smart and so did L. Even to Ryuk's eyes, they did care for each other yet they didn't behave like those couple in Misa's dramas. Or not yet? Ryuk didn't know but he was enjoying it. He found the two geniuses were fascinating.

"It's my first time to hear Watari speak like that," said Light after he finished eating and drinking the medicine. "I mean, he gives you advice about your personal life. Is he always doing it?"

"Rarely. I barely have a personal life. Sometimes Watari reminded me to take vitamins or fruit because I only eat sweets," L crouched on the chair. He put the empty bowl on the table.

"So, you seem close to him. Beyond the professional line," Light pushed the blanket aside and tried to stand but his legs wobbled. L caught his hand and steadied him. He stood beside Light to help him walk. "Where is my luggage? I want to change."

"Your clothes are in the closet. Suseri unpacked your luggage." L directed him to the said closet. Light opened it and found his clothes there. He grabbed his pajamas and walked out with L. He still dizzy. He chose to not have a bath or shower because it was not wise to do it while he was sick.

"It seems like everything in this manor was done by Suseri or Watari," commented Light as they reached the bed again. The young man halted and the black pajamas on it. He took off his current clothes. L sat back on the chair.

"Indeed. I have several other maids but Suseri is in charge of everything in this manner. Watari is in charge of mostly my needs in everything. Cases or my health."

"How long they've been working for you?" Light put his pajama top. He thought that it was pointless to ask for privacy from L. Even before he indirectly confessed that he was Kira, L never gave him privacy. They were handcuffed for months. Hence, he failed to see it as a big deal to change his clothes in front of L. Besides, there was nothing the man has not seen yet.

"As long as I remember."

Light halted in taking off his trousers, he turned his head to L, "What do you mean?" He continued to change.

"They have been working for my parents," L eyed the back of Light as he changed. Particularly, on the lower part. He blinked when Light put on the bottom of the pajama. Somehow, he felt slightly disappointed.

Light turned around to face L, he has done changing, "Where do I put my dirty clothes?"

"Just put it on the bed, Suseri will collect it later."

Light did as he told then climbed back to inside the blanket. His eyes getting heavy. He glanced at L, "No wonder you seem close to Watari. He is basically raising you after your parents' death." Light remembered L and Roger's conversation when he woke up, "Is Roger know your parents as well?"

"Yes, he is. Watari and Roger are my parents' juniors at University. I have no other family so they raised me. Suseri has been working here even before I was born."

"I see," his eyes getting heavy. He saw blurry transparent figures behind L. "Do you remember… your parents?" And Light went do dreamland once again.

"Vaguely," L stood beside the bed, he hovered over Light. He put his left palm on Light's forehead and it was still warm. "Ryuk," L said, "Will you let me know if Light's fever getting worse? I have no cameras in here so it will be hard to see his development."

Ryuk asked, "Why would I do that?"

"You will have no apples if you do not cooperate with me," L turned around and looked up at Ryuk.

"Ugh, okay. I'll tell you."

"Thank you," L noticed Light's explanation before and he remembered the deal with Rem. Ryuk may not care about humans like Rem did to Misa but his addiction to Apple made him agreeable. L could see in some cases during Kira's time, Ryuk must help Light in exchange for apples. Albeit, it didn't mean he was Light's friend.

L pulled out a black small box from his jeans pocket. He opened it and took out a ring from the box. Onyx eyes looked down at Light who slept peacefully. Gingerly, he reached out Light's left hand and put the ring on the ring's finger. His hand stayed for longer than necessary, holding Light's fingers.

At first, Ryuk didn't know the meaning of a ring on a human's finger. But, Misa educated him enough in that department during their time stayed together (and watching romance). Ryuk smirked.

Captivating.

The next time Light opened his eyes, the room was bright from the window. He closed his eyes for seconds longer before opening the lids again. He blinked several times to make sure he felt alright. As he didn't feel any dizzy like last night and his body was not heavy anymore. When he sat up and Ryuk came to his sight.

"Morning, Light," he greeted.

"Morning," replies Light. He reached out for an apple on the side table with his right hand and tossed it to Ryuk. "I will take shower."

"Okay," Ryuk happily munching the fruit.

Light pushed the blanket and went out of the bed. He head to the closet to grab new clothes. Light was not surprised that he didn't see L in this room when he woke up. L was rarely sleeping. The detective sleeps every 4 or 5 days and he would sleep around 16-18 hours. He bet L was in the investigation room. He has cases, after all. Kira's case was not the only one he investigate.

When Light reached out his hands to open the closet, he saw a ring on his left hand and halted. His eyes widened. That ring was not there when Light went to sleep last night. He pulled his left hand closer to take a good look at the ring. It was a simple gold ring. Unlike that traditional engagement ring with big diamond and all because they were for women. Light's ring was an engagement ring for men. A simple band with tiny diamonds formed the 'L' logo.

Ryuk noticed that Light only stood in front of the closet, he came closer and saw Light looking at the ring. He snickering. "L put that ring on you before he left," Ryuk said. He has a tendency to babble due to a good mood when he had apples.

"I see," Light mumbled. His eyes were still on the golden ring for seconds longer before he opened the closet and took his clothes then headed to the bathroom with a light smile on his lips.

When Light put down the comb on the sink, he glanced at his ring once more. He has done showering and styling his hair. It was unusual for him or even any Japanese to take a shower in the morning. They preferred to have it in the evening after all activities. Unlike other nations who take showers in the morning. He wore a black sweater with v neck and khaki-colored pants. His fingers traced the 'L' diamonds on the ring and he lost it in his mind when he heard the knock from the door. Light head out and opened the door to find Suseri smiled. She greeted him in Japanese, "Good morning, Light-sama. How are you feeling today?"

Light was surprised, "Good morning, Suseri-san. I'm feeling better. Thank you for asking."

"Would you like to have breakfast with L-sama and the boys?" She asked gently.

"I would like that. It will help me if you can show me where," he said.

Suseri nodded, "With pleasure. Please follow me, Light-sama." She walked first, "I thought it may help you to be comfortable here if you are talking in your mother tongue."

When they were walking he asked, "I didn't know you are fluent in Japanese despite your alias name using one."

"L-sama's mother was half-Japanese so we learn from her," She explained and was impressed, "As expected from L-sama's fiance, you know it's our alias. Like Watari, my alias name is given by L-sama after he started to become a detective."

Both Watari and Suseri were not Japanese, but L chooses a Japanese alias for them. And L's mother…Light put two and two together then he voiced out his conclusion, "He gave you two Japanese alias names because his mother was half Japanese?"

"Yes, that is correct," Suseri nodded.

"Is he choosing Japanese alias, like Ryuzaki, for himself as well?" Light asked.

"No, it's the nickname from his late mother when he was a child. He was close to her," Suseri told him before she opened a door for Light.

He stepped inside to find L and the boys were seated at an oval dining table. L crouched on his chair as usual. He looked up from his cake to see Light.

"Good morning, Light."
