In the second half of season 2: Michael and Nikita have a cute evening together

Michael was in the living room with Ryan going over intel. They were the last ones to still be working on something. The others decided to take the afternoon and evening off. Stress levels were getting higher and higher and overworking was definitely not going to help them. Michael and Ryan decided to continue just the two of them. It was less chaotic with only two people and there wasn't really any clashing of opinions. There was nothing groundbreaking or major in any of this new intel anyway so they should have been able to handle it.

The two started going insane themselves pretty quickly though. They were getting more and more lost in files. They would lose concentration and get more frustrated with the papers lying around. Ryan finally had enough and went outside to take a walk and clear his head. For Michael, there was no point in continuing so he decided to stop for the day like the others and went to search for his girlfriend. What better way to relax than with his love.

He guessed she was in the bedroom since she wasn't in the main living areas of the house. He would have seen her. Michael entered the room but completely stopped in his tracks at the door. Nikita was curled up in a ball on the bed with a few fluffy blankets wrapped around her. Her back was to the door so Michael couldn't see if she was awake. He didn't want to wake her up if she had fallen asleep. She definitely needed it after all her restless nights lately.

He was going to let her sleep and find something else to do. Before Michael walked out of the room Nikita turned to see who had come in. She guessed it was Michael at first but since he didn't say anything or move toward her she started doubting it.

"Hey" Michael grinned at her, closed the door and walked over to the bed. "Did I wake you up?" He came over to her side of the bed and kissed her forehead gently. Nikita shook her head. Michael then noticed the tablet in her hands. He was going to comment on her working when she had to be resting but she wasn't actually doing anything. She was just watching a show.

That should have gotten her happy or at least content but she looked sad. "You okay, baby?" Michael crouched down and wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her neck and kissing her there. Nikita just shrugged her shoulders and remained still laying on her side curled in a ball. Just this time with Michael on her back. "Did you sleep?"

Nikita shook her head. Michael didn't like how quiet she was being. She would get in this numb state sometimes when she was stressed or anxious. It was a sort of a coping mechanism. Fortunately, she was not that far gone into it yet so Michael knew just the way to help. "Can I get a kiss?" Nikita turned her head and pecked his lips easily. Michael kissed her cheek and stood up "I'll be back in a second"

And he really was. Michael walked back into the room shortly after, carrying a bunch of things. He had brought her Gatorade and water as drink options. Michael also brought all sorts of snacks for them. He was planning on joining her in bed and just doing whatever she was feeling whether that was watching something or taking a nap.

Michael set everything on the empty side of the bed so they could reach for anything they wanted easily. Then he walked over back to her side. She scooted over and he laid down next to her. Her back was pressed against his chest and his arms were holding her tight. Michael could see the slight smile creeping up. He was starting to make her feel better.

They got comfortable. His head was laying on her shoulder, planting gentle kisses on her face and neck. Nikita hadn't pressed play on her show yet so whatever he was doing was distracting her enough. "I love you" He whispered over her cheek before laying a kiss there. "I love you" Nikita followed with a kiss on his knuckles and intertwined their fingers. She might have not been in the mood for talking but she would always have the energy to return his love. It was the easiest thing she could do.

"What are you watching?" Nikita exited the episode she was playing and showed him she was watching Friends. Michael chuckled. She usually loved action-packed movies and shows or comedies but they always had to be good ones. Sitcoms were reserved for when a distraction or comfort was needed.

They snuggled up and watched a few episodes. Nikita didn't let go of his hand once. Michael continued caressing her gently and kissing her wherever he could. She would squeeze his hand in return. They just laid there in each other not saying anything and just enjoying the peaceful moment.

After a while, Nikita turned around in Michael's arms and closed her eyes. He pecked her lips and brought her even closer if that was possible. After he pulled away Nikita whined and pouted her lips, waiting for another kiss. Michael chuckled and complied with her wishes, pecking her lips a few times. He could see a smile forming on her face, but she still didn't open her eyes.

Michael gently brushed his nose against hers. That got the smile on her face to stay. He did it again and again. She giggled and leaned for a kiss. "Look at me for a second" Michael breathed over her lips and laughed. He was glad to see her smile but he felt that wasn't a real indication of how she was feeling.

"Mmm-mmm" Nikita shook her head no. "Why not?" Michael cupped her cheek. He knew she melted whenever he would do that. "I want to just feel and not think." She whispered and brushed her forehead against his. Michael understood but he still couldn't help it. His protective side was stronger. "Are you okay?"

"I will be. Just stay…" Nikita didn't want to talk about anything. She just wanted to hide from the world in Michael's arms for a little while. That was all she needed. "Always" Michael whispered over her lips before giving her a kiss and tightening his hold on her. He wasn't going anywhere. "I love you"

"I love you" Those would be the last words they said to each other for a couple of hours. Silence washed over the room. The only thing you could hear was the wind and distant muffled sound from the rest of the house. Eventually, Nikita and Michael found themselves in sweet slumber.

Michael was woken up by Nikita shaking and twitching. His eyes opened instantly. It was dark in the room so it took a while for him to adjust. He brought her closer to him and shushed while brushing his lips against her forehead. That seemed to settle her. She must have been starting to have a bad dream. She usually woke up if it was an already raging nightmare. Michael tucked her in and she was back to peacefully sleeping.

It took a while for Michael to wake up after that. He was confused and disoriented. That was sometimes the downside of naps. However, in the couple's case, it couldn't even have been considered a nap anymore if it was already dark outside. He came into the room looking for her around 4 pm so that meant they had fallen asleep around 5 something.

Michael looked at the clock on the nightstand. It was 10:30 pm. They had been sleeping for 5 hours and counting for Nikita. That wasn't ideal but Michael felt like he could go back to sleep again right that moment so sleeping through the night hopefully wasn't going to be a problem.

He did plan on just going back to sleep but his body had other plans. His stomach kept rumbling and he was starving. Michael tried to ignore it but it didn't work so he decided to just sneak out to the kitchen, hoping to find some leftovers from whatever the others had for dinner.

Nikita, however, also had other plans for him. As soon as she felt him pull away from her, she pulled him back. "Noo, don't go '' She mumbled sleepily, pushed him on his back and laid on top of him preventing him from leaving the bed. Michael laughed "I'm just going to go to the kitchen to get something to eat. Do you want anything?"

"There is food here" Nikita clumsily grabbed from some of the snacks he had brought earlier. "I mean actual food. Come on, we'll go together. You need to eat something too"

"No, I'm okay" Nikita yawned and just snuggled back into his chest ready to doze off again. "You barely had anything for lunch and we slept through dinner. There is no way you are not hungry" Michael wasn't believing that. He guessed she was feeling too sleepy to actually do anything.

"Wait, what time is it?" Michael's comment about sleeping through dinner got her confused. She thought they had fallen asleep for maybe an hour or two at most. She opened her eyes and could barely see anything. It was dark outside. Not even dark as in the sun had set. It was nighttime dark.

"Almost 11…" Nikita groned after hearing that. She understood then why Michael was persistent on getting something to eat. She did feel kind of hungry thinking about it now but getting out of her warm bed sounded horrible at that moment and wasn't worth it to her. She did pull away from Michael though so he can go eat.

"You not coming?" Michael thought after she realized how late it was she would join him. "Noo, too cold" She murmured again and pulled her blankets on her so she was covered everywhere. Michael chuckled. For some reason, she was really adorable to him right now and he was determined to take her with him to the kitchen to make them both something to eat.

"You cold?" He turned to his side and brought her in his arms again. "Mhmm mhmm" She nodded her head and borrowed from his warmth. "I'll keep you warm. I promise."

"It's too cold even for your hugs" She whined and burrowed her face in his neck. Nothing was worth getting out of bed for her right now. Michael laid her on her back, planting sweet kisses on her face and neck. That distracted her enough not to notice him pulling the blankets off her.

One of Michael's hands sneaked away to turn the bedside lamp on. He needed the light for this. After he gathered all her blankets he pulled her to sit up with him. Nikita huffed frustrated "Michael…" Before she could lay back down or go off on him for making her get up, Michael put the blankets back on her, wrapping her up like a burrito. He pecked her lips and hoisted her up. Her legs wrapped around his waist of their own accord and it took her a second to realize what happened. "Michael, I don't want to do this right now…"

"Do what? You said you were cold so we are taking your blankets with us too. You don't have to do anything. I just wanted to be with you.." Michael delivered that with a sad pout. He knew Nikita wouldn't argue against that. Nikita gasped a laugh "That's manipulative" Michael chuckled "You can choose if you want to come. I can tuck you back in bed again"

"Yeah, yeah. Let's just go already.'' Nikita couldn't say no to him now. She was already up and in his arms. Might as well go with him. "But you are holding me the whole time"

"Who said anything about me letting you go" Michael grinned and held her tightly while walking out of the bedroom. Nikita settled comfortably in his arms with a satisfied sigh.

When they entered the kitchen Michael walked straight to the fridge. It was clear no one had bothered to make anything so he had to think of something. He moved to the cupboards, looking for something. Nikita expected him to put her down any second but he didn't. When she said he had to carry her she only meant it as a joke. She didn't expect him to walk around the kitchen with her in his arms like it was nothing. Thinking about it, maybe she should have expected it. It was Michael after all.

When he found what he was looking for and started preparing everything he was going to need, Nikita made a move to put her feet down and go sit on the counter. As soon as Michael felt that he hoisted her back up and trapped her in his arms. "Where do you think you're going?" He kissed her and moved his fingers over her ribs, tickling her.

Her bright laughter made him kiss her more and more. "You are staying right here with me" He kissed her forehead and nudged her to rest her head on his shoulder. Nikita kissed him on the cheek and hugged him tightly. She loved their quiet moments like that one where they were in their own little bubble. Just the two of them. They weren't as often as they wished but lately, they really tried to prioritize them even if it was just for a few minutes.

Michael found that it really helped settle Nikita into a more still and calm mental space where they would talk about anything or just draw comfort from one another. She was also more likely to share things with him then than at any other occasion. And that was very important. Michael had really made it his mission to help her see how worthy she was and teach her how to love herself. Getting all those horrible thoughts out of her head and addressing them was the first step. Not every day was like that though. Some days they would just enjoy the silence. Silence, stolen kisses, loving holds and touches.

"Mac and cheese?" Michael didn't want to spend too much time making something, not that there were many options. "I'm not really hungry" Nikita shook her head. She didn't feel like eating anything right now. She could go without dinner. "I can make it the way you like it with veggies and more cheese" However Michael knew the way to her stomach.

"Maybe I can have a few bites then '' Nikita mumbled into his neck. Michael couldn't see it but he felt her smile and he smirked. He knew how to take care of his girl. As he moved around the kitchen he swayed a little bit. He usually had music playing when he would cook but it was too late to be doing that when everyone was sleeping. That didn't stop him though.

"Keep doing that and I might just really skip dinner and go back to sleep" The way Michael was rocking her gently was very soothing and she caught herself drifting off at moments. "I'm sorry, hun. Don't fall asleep. I'm almost done." Michael chuckled and hurried up his task. He grabbed two bowls to put the mac and cheese in. Nikita was quick to stop him.

"Don't make one for me. I'll just have a little bit from yours" Michael just nodded and decided to do something else. He got the biggest bowl he could find and filled it for the two of them. That way she can have as much as she actually wanted.

"You holding tight?" Michael needed both of his hands so he couldn't hold her securely to him so before he started walking back to their bedroom he had to make sure she wouldn't fall. Nikita in return squeezed him as hard as she could. Michael laughed and choked on a breath. "I would like to remain in one piece though" Nikita chuckled and loosened her hold so they could finally return to their bedroom.

When they exited the kitchen Nikita pulled back a little bit and brushed her lips against his. She laid kisses on his cheek down to his neck, teasing him. "Just you wait" Michael smirked and quickened his walk. Nikita used the opportunity that his hands were full and he couldn't touch her or pull her for a kiss. That wasn't going to be for long though.

When they entered the bedroom he quickly put everything on the bedside table and threw Nikita on the bed. She giggled and tried to sit up but Michael was too fast. He hovered over her and stopped all her attempts with a slow sensual kiss that was broken by Nikita squirming from being tickled by Michael. "Michael, please, I can't…" She desperately tried to tickle him back and escape from his arms but with no luck. She was trapped. Michael gave her a break soon after and pulled her up so they could get some food. They ate, laughed, kissed and just enjoyed being together like that. Nothing compared to a midnight dinner in bed with your love.

I hope you enjoyed it! Sorry I haven't updated in a few months. Life has been crazy, then a writing block hit me and then I got an idea for another story and got consumed by it lol (hopefully you'll see it one day). Thanks to the two people that left reviews for me to post again 3 It makes me happy knowing someone enjoys what I write. I have a lot of unfinished drafts of chapters so I'll try my hardest to finish them soon. Thank you for your support xx
