Light couldn't concentrate on the book he read. He closed the book and put it on the table beside the wing chair single sofa. The Japanese teenager was alone in the living room after they had breakfast together a few hours ago. Light was trying to read a book to kill time before his mind keep reminding the examination with Roger Ruvie last night. The so-call best doctor (proclaimed by L) has suggested to them to have sex to prevent a disease like Pre-eclampsia. Sex….

L hasn't touched him since that night.

He frowned at that realization. His amber eyes scanned the outside through the window when another thought hit him.

Why?

Why L didn't touch him again? He was the one who 'proposed' to Light and brought him to England. He was the one who insist on responsibility. Did he just want to have the child and Light was merely a carrier for the said child? The last question felt bitter for Light but he knew it was not the case. No.

By UK's law, L could have parental responsibility by being present when the child is born and Light gives his consent to put the detective's name on the child's birth certificate. They didn't have to get marry if what L wanted was the child only. L could exchange his protection by never revealing Kira's identity to get Light's consent to put his name as the father of the child on the certificate. Yes, he could do that. He didn't have to put his family name on Light as well. Yet, he did. So, he didn't just want the child.

L wanted Light as well.

It was unsurprised. At least, for Light himself. All his life, people have always wanted him. In one way or another. To be his friend. To be his team. To be his lover. Light was used to be wanted by anyone. It came as no surprise to him when he concluded L intimately wanted him since the so-called proposal. He was delighted when he reached that conclusion but it was short-lived as the situation didn't support that idea.

He rose to his feet and walked out of the room. Ryuk followed him until Light opened his bedroom.

Light walked to the balcony and stared at the sight of the beautiful garden outside. Yet, he didn't appreciate it at the moment. Does he keep asking himself about why L has never been intimate again with Light?

Why?

Was he truly asexual like Matt mentioned? L indeed gave that impression but the fact was Light pregnant would be the valid proof to reject the notion. Light was that attractive to L that the detective admitted himself. Besides, he sensed L's eyes on him when he changed his clothes the other day. Light was used to L's stare but if he was truly asexual, be he wouldn't spend that much time staring at Light's half-naked body. Light was experienced enough being wanted by everyone that he knew it with just one glance. L wanted him. Then, why he didn't touch him?

He heard the knock on the door and said, "Enter." Light walked back to the bedroom. Watari was the one who opened the door.

"Watari," Light greeted the man with a polite smile. Watari replied in the same manner.

"I would like to inform you that in several hours, L will fall asleep," Watari said, "As you know, every 4 or 5 days L would stay awake and then sleep for almost a day."

"Ah, yes, I'm aware of his sleeping habits," Light remembered his days when he was handcuffed with L for several months.

Watari nodded, "Usually, he would sleep on his chair in the investigation room. But, since you two are a couple, I was wondering maybe you want him to sleep here?"

Light's eyes widened. Watari chuckled, "I'm worried about L since he is rarely sleeping on the bed. I'm hoping you can persuade him to sleep properly on the bed this time."

It has been a long time since Light and L slept on the same bed. Or even slept in the same room. The airplane was not counted. He nodded, "I will try to persuade him, Watari."

Watari said his thanks and left the room.

Light asked Ryuk, "How far can you be away from me, Ryuk?"

When they had lunch together with the boys, Light noticed L's eyelids were hanging lower than usual. He reached his limit, Light thought. It was confirmed when Watari asked him, "Are you sleepy, L?"

"Hm," L munched his cake with less enthusiasm. Watari and Light exchanged a glance before the Japanese man offered, "Why don't you sleep in our bedroom, Ryuuzaki?"

At once, the dining room has become silent. The sound from the boys eating in the same room was halted. Light glanced at them to find the three of them staring at him.

L asked, "Our bedroom?"

Light elaborated, "The master room I slept in. Just because I slept in there every night, it doesn't make it my room. It was yours before I came here, right?"

"If I sleep there, where will Light sleep?"

"Pardon?" Light was slightly surprised. What was that question? L implied that they would sleep in different chambers? Before he could react, Matt chided in with inquiry to his mentor.

"Why would he sleep in another room?" Matt asked with curiosity. "Isn't he is your fiancé?"

Nice question, Matt, Light thought. He was glad he didn't have to voice it out loud himself. It was humiliating enough to even someone ask about it. What was L want with him by proposing and preparing a wedding but reluctant to share a bed with him? Was Light missing something? What was L's objective?

"I believe L isn't familiar with what couples normally do beyond what he saw from the news or the cases he solved," said Watari with a gentle smile.

There was a silent understanding that followed Watari's explanation. For Light and Matt, or even Mello, who was raised by family, they knew spouses were supposed to sleep in the same room and bed. Yet, L lost his parent before he reached 5 years old. In addition, he has never been in a relationship before. So, what Watari said was true.

L stared at Light before he asked, "Does Light want to sleep with me?"

If Light was any other man, he would blush at this point. It was embarrassing to be asked something so personal in front of everyone (especially Matt looked interested between the two) but Light knew there was no point in that considering L wasn't mean to embarrass him. L just being L, mind you. Privacy is not in his dictionary.

Light asked L back, "Well, don't you want to sleep with me?"

They stared into each other eyes wordlessly. It was a blank stare, trademark of L but Light believed he could see L was thinking. Light will not give a clear answer because it will make him lose a face to admit something truthfully. L understood that. It was their way of communicating with each other.

The boys looked at them back and forth. Matt and Mello sensed the unresolved tension between L and Light since they were older, while Near just found it odd.

"I see," L mumbled. He finished the cake and his tea before he said to Light, "Let's go."

Light followed L went out of the dining room. The boys and Watari stared at their back curiously. On their way to the master bedroom, only silence escorted them. Light was a bit nervous. Did L understand what Light means when he say 'sleeping' was about sex? Of course, he is, Light thought. He always knew Light's untold truths. He always did it. But, how would they do this?

The first time they were doing it, it was because of the heat of the moment. L keep accused of (amnesia) Light is Kira. They were fighting and one thing lead to another… they were kissing. Then, did it. Light wondering if he should make the first move or wait for L to make one. Usually, Light would take the first move when he was with ladies. But, since L was a man. Light considered his choice carefully. He had never been with a man. His train of thought was cut when L opened the door of their bedroom.

Gulped secretly, Light stepped in. There was no Ryuk insight. Light has taken necessary precautions to ensure they were alone today. He had asked the shinigami to leave for a period of time. It cost him a bunch of apples. Luckily, Watari gave it to Light when he said that he craved the fruit. Being pregnant was an advantage in this scenario. Light has taken a shower before he went down to lunch. Just in case. Something like this happens.

He witnessed that L made a beeline to the bed. Oh? So, he wasn't fancy any foreplay or something? Not that it was a big deal since it has been a long time for Light as well. At the moment. He noticed that L didn't take off his clothes. Ah, so, he wanted to keep the clothes on? Alright, Light was fine with that. For now. When he saw L climb on top of the bed then glanced at him, Light felt like he was called.

Wordlessly, Light climbed as well. L patted the pillow beside him as a gesture for Light to lay down. Light stared at L for a while before complying. He laid on his back with his head on the pillow L had just patted. L stared down at him and leaned down. Light closed his eyes with high anticipation. Maybe for a kiss?

A second has passed. Nothing happens. He sensed L leaned closer and nothing. Light waited for another five seconds before he opened his eyes to find the ceiling was there. No L on sight. He felt a warm body on his right hand and slowly turned his head. There he was. L has closed his eyes. Laid on his left side.

Huh?

He stayed like that for a good minute before Light waved his hand in front of L's face. No reaction. Light scooted closer and he could hear light snoring from L. He put his weight on his elbow as he raised his head to look down at L with murderous eyes.

How dare he fall asleep?!

Light regretted that he didn't let Rem kill L. He should have let him die! His amber eyes burning with rage. There was a thought to kill L if he had his Death Note. He knew L's real name now. Yet, he knew that it will just be digging his own grave because only two of them were in this room so Light automatically become a suspect should L die. Not to mention the inheritance from Lawliet family, Light could be seen as gold diggers and it won't help his case in front of the jury. Not to mention, Light realized that L has been awake for the last 4 days without sleeping. At all. Despite being the greatest detective, L was not a superhuman so he must be really tired to fall asleep the moment his head touch the pillow. Slowly, his rationale for L's behavior dampened his anger. Light should know L would be sleeping because it was his schedule to sleep. If he wanted to have sex with him, he should do it during his weekdays. It was just a miscalculation in his strategy.

L snuggled up to Light side, he put his right arm on Light's waist. At this point, the anger he had on L has melted away and Light sighed deeply. Light kissed L's lips before cuddling up to him. He would take a nap with L then rethink his strategy for the next opportunity. He has 17-20 hours to think since L usually takes that much time to sleep.

"So, Light, do you get laid when I was away?" It was Ryuk first words when he landed on the balcony of the bedroom at midnight. It has been 12 hours since L slept in the afternoon.

"Good to see you too, Ryuk," Light replied with sarcasm. He was staring at the night sky after sparing Ryuk a glance. The shinigami looked inside to find L sleeping peacefully.

Ryuk chuckled, "Nothing happen?"

Light scowled, "Not yet. But, soon." He had a new strategy for the next time L woke up. "Just pay attention, if I give you a signal. You have to fly away."

"Alright, alright, but you have to remember I can only be away from you 12 hours each day. I don't know how long human mating duration but remember, 12 hours is the maximum."

"I get it," Light said. By this point, he would be lucky if he could just get 10 minutes of a quickie.

Light has been awake for an hour. L could be waking up any moment now because he has been sleeping for 18 hours. Light could see the sunlight starting to shine from the window. Ryuk was on the balcony so Light could do his plan undisturbed. When he saw L's eyelids seem to move, Light dashed to the bathroom and wet himself from head to toe to make he had just taken a shower. He took one an hour ago.

Plan A.

Light timing he walked out of the bathroom scene with a loosely red bathrobe on his body so when he opened the door, L was awake and saw him. He acted as if he had just seen L, "Oh, are you awake?"

"Yes," L replied. He sat on the bed.

Light offered with hand on his hair seductively, "Do you want to have breakfast in here?"

He was expecting L to be mesmerized by his body. Checking him out. Drooling. But, none of that happened. L flatly refused as he climbed out of the bedroom, "No. We are not unable to move."

The detectives walked closer to Light and his heart racing faster as L got closer. He thought it will be it! Light tilted his head to angle his face perfectly that he looked at L through his long eyelashes. L was almost in front of him and he saw the lips were open so Light was halfway to closing his eyes. He thought there would be a kiss. Yet, it was not what L intended. He opened his lips because he wanted to say, "Light can go first to the dining room." Then, L entered the bathroom to clean himself.

Light snapped his eyes open.

Say whaaaaaa—

Ryuk was laughing to his heart content at the balcony.

Alright, alright, Light has underestimated L. The older man was not a superhuman but he was not an average man either. Cheap seduction was not luring him. Light has learned from his mistake and he won't do it again. He will plan the next one better. It will put his name a shame if he could do Kira with ease but he couldn't bed his own fiancé. What a shame. No. He won't let it happen!

"So, I was thinking maybe Light could help you three to learn in-depth about Japanese," L announced when all of them had breakfast.

Light blinked, he exchanged glances with the boys, "You want me to teach them Japanese?"

"Yes. They have never been to Japan and the only Japanese native speaker here is Light. I think it will be a great opportunity for them to learn not only from books and tutorial videos," L elaborated.

"That's a great idea, L!" Matt agreed. Mello added as he stared at Light, "It's interesting." His blue eyes bore into Light as if he wanted to find Light's dirty secret. It was not a pleasing thought.

Then, Near added, "I'm looking forward to it." His gaze was flat but has the intensity of Mello's. Ah yeah, these two were L's best candidate to be the successor.

"How about it, Light? Does Light accept to be their Japanese teacher?" L asked Light.

Light raised an eyebrow inwardly. Was this L's move? He wanted Light to have time with the boys so he could be getting know them better since the boys will be their child's godfathers? Or does L want more space from Light? Teaching the boys would take some time a day and it will be decreasing the time or Light's chance to be with L alone. Was that it? Was this his indirect way to avoid Light?

Did L think Light would let him be?

Light smiled, "It's alright. I have time until this child is born. I can teach them, Ryuuzaki."

"Thank you," the older man said.

Just wait, L, Light thought inwardly.

Light spent the whole day with Watari. The old man explained to him how far the boys learning Japanese. Watari gave him all the books that the boys used for learning and the videos as well. Light was shown to the library on the second floor. He was free to choose any book to use and if the library didn't have it, he could order it online. Light also saw the test result of the boys and he could say they were not beginners but not advanced yet.

The boys have basic already. Hiragana, katakana, vocab, sentences but learning kanji was on another level. Light wouldn't blame it on them, even Japanese children have failed in this category. Light made his way to choose the book while he did some brainstorming about how to counteract L's move.

The next day, Light meet up with the boys in the library. "Good afternoon, Matt, Mello, Near." Then, Light explained that all of them will use Japanese during his class so they would get used to it.

"I saw your tests and I think you guys have a problem with Kanji. The best way to learn it is by translating kanji to hiragana then you can learn the kanji and the meaning behind it. Do you have any Japanese book with you so we can translate it together?" Light asked.

"Yeah," Mello raised a bunch of paper on his hands, "Kira's Case."
