Disclaimer: check chap 1.

Light didn't surprise Mello proposed it. Out of all three, Mello showed his interest to be L's successor more aggressive than the other two. Matt's interests were mostly video games while Near didn't seem interested in anything. At least, that was what Light observed. He took the pile of Kira's case report as he skimmed the pages. Light asked Mello, "Did you steal this from L?"

Mello offended, "Of course not. Can't you see the number of cameras in this building?" He scowled. Light noticed that Mello didn't comment about how illegal stealing was but he complained about the cameras. It implied he wasn't opposed to the idea of stealing. Interesting, L thought.

Near explained, "L gives it to us. But, L won't let Watari translate it for us."

Instantly, Light caught the unsaid, "He wants three of you to translate it for yourself."

Near admitted, "As our part of training to be successor since L is fluent in Japanese."

Light nodded. He noticed one thing, "There is no L's conclusion in this report."

Matt replied, "He never showed us the conclusion, we have to solve it on our own then we told him our conclusion."

"I see," Light skimmed the reports. Since all the purpose of these was to train the trio to solve on their own, L didn't even put his accusations of Light being Kira like he did in Japan. Those piles were reported that the Japanese Task Force made in every step L tried to solve Kira's case. L didn't prepare Light anything for this because he knew Light knew what to do. It was up to Light to twist the information or be honest with the three. Light scoffed inwardly. As if he would be honest with the boys.

"Alright," Light decided, "if you are eager to read this, we will use it for our lessons." Yet, Light knew he needed to choose his words carefully because if L could conclude that he was Kira, there was a possibility that his successors will do the same. "But, I want all of you to write an essay about the meaning of any kanji you find in this report and try to look for another meaning of that kanji if it was in another sentence or a name. Give an example for every usage of that kanji."

Matt almost shrieked, "WHAT?!"

"Our first objective is to learn Japanese not Kira's case," Light reminded him. "Mello choose this topic and you two didn't have any objection. Write as much as you find. You can ask me if you have doubt."

The boys knew that one kanji could have a different meaning based on the sentence and if they have to write an essay about it, there will be a lot of work. Matt accused Mello, "Look, what you did, Mels."

Mello retorted, "lazy bums."

They started right away. Mello and Near opened their laptops silently. They started taking one piece of paper and typing. Matt took a deep sigh at the two before he put aside his game and opened his laptop as well. He seemed reluctant but have no choice.

Light read the reports in silence. He was interested to read the ones where he was not in Task Force yet. He didn't have the time to read when L had eyes on him all the time as soon as he joined Task Force. He needed to know what information the boys will read then he will know how to face their questions or conclusion. There were 3 parts to Kira's case. First was Light has done it solo as Kira. The second part was about the appearance of Second Kira. Misa's interrogations and Light were being handcuffed with L to prove his innocence (yet, he was being pregnant due to this handcuffs thing). The last part was about Yotsuba's case and the death of Higuchi which was concluded as Kira. The light had an idea of how to handle the boys if they ask him.

He glanced at the trio for a moment. The boys were geniuses so he didn't have to give intensive attention to the lesson. Basically, they would understand on their own but Light was here as a native Japanese so the boys could ask if they need help. However, Light thought it won't be necessary for Near and Mello. They immersed themselves in the assignment and didn't pay attention to others. They seemed to have competition with each other.

Light doubt they would ask him anything. Mello and Near seemed to have their pride to solve something on their own. Especially, Near. He didn't have any expression on his face. L explained that it was a drawback of the experiment. It was an interesting fact. There was still no transparent being hovering behind Near. Like what Light sometimes saw behind Mello, Matt, L, and others.

His thought was halted when Matt talked to him.

"Hey, Light, I know some Japanese slang from the game community, you know. I know about ecchi, hentai, futa, shota, see, uke, and others," Matt grabbed his attention. Light snapped his head and eyed him warily at Matt. All those slangs were porn-related.

"I assume you play an inappropriate game," he told him.

Matt grinned, "I play a lot of games. Any genre."

"I see."

Matt was curious, "So, Light, which one are you?"

"What do you mean?" Light asked. "If you referring to seme or uke, you should know which one, Matt." By which one, he meant his pregnancy.

"Oh, I know you are uke. No doubt about that. With your pregnancy and all," Matt asked, "What I want to know is: Are you bishounen or ikemen? I can't decide which one are you."

Both Mello and Near who just listened to them only blinked their eyes. They typed the words they just heard on their laptop to find the meaning without asking Light who saw their screens.

Light facepalmed with a deep sigh.

—000—

For the next three days, it has become a routine for them. They spent time in the investigation room with L after breakfast then after lunch, they would have a Japanese lesson with Light. After dinner, they had free time to do assignments from L and Light.

On his way to the dining room, Light had a notification on his phone. He opened the message as he entered the said room where everyone was eating. His eyes widened as he read the message before he put his phone away as he sat beside L. The detective merely observed him as he chewed his cake. "Is something wrong, Light?" He asked him.

"No. It's just that I received a message from Misa," Light sighed a little.

"Is she in trouble?" L took a guess. "I give her Watari's number should he need my assistant."

"No. She doesn't have any trouble," Light sipped his water. "She has a movie project and her carrier is as marvelous as ever."

"Then, why does Light look troubled?" L blinked.

"She said that she will be shooting her movie in London," Light said. "And she will have free time for Christmas celebration after that. Misa wants to meet us."

"It will be no problem," L put a strawberry inside his mouth. He halted his movement when Light added, "She will bring Sayu."

Both of them locked their gaze in silence. L never met Sayu properly. Only through surveillance cameras, they put during Kira's case. From Light's slightly troubled expression, he seemed reluctant to meet his sister. L asked, "Did she know about the baby?"

"Not yet," Light replied. "I didn't tell her. She thought I came here because of a scholarship."

Before L could ask the reason why Light haven't told his sister, Mello blurted out a question first, "Who is Misa?"

Light replied, "My ex-girlfriend."

"And Sayu?" Matt asked.

"My little sister." Light replied as he began eating.

"Your ex-girlfriend is a movie star? She must be hot!" Matt exclaimed. Light shrugged, "She is an idol. She did some drama series and recently she got a role in a movie."

"Why did L give Watari's number to your ex-girlfriend?" Mello found it odd. Only selected people were given Watari's number because Watari was L's connection to the world. Mostly, L only gave Watari's number to remarkable police/detectives or informants. Clearly, Light's ex-girlfriend was not in those categories. She was an idol and rising movie star.

"She is my friend," L replied. It shocked the boys immediately. They lost for words and widened their eyes at L.

"You have a friend?" Matt asked unsurely.

"I have friends." L pointed towards Light, "Misa is my second friend. Light is my first friend. They have become my friends during the case."

The boys snapped their heads at Light with indescribable horror on their faces. It made Light blink, "You guys look more surprised than the first time you heard about me, a male, being pregnant. Is that weird for L to have friends?"

Matt gaped before he cleared his throat, "Well, I did think he was asexual. But, well, it's scientifically proven that he is a man and every man has sexual desire how small it is. Even for L. I can accept that he had sex with you."

"Genetic mutation is a rare condition but it is possible, despite your pregnancy is still considered rare but the probability of that was not exactly zero," Added Mello.

"However, rare is not a word we will use to describe L's social ability. It's scientifically impossible," Near concluded.

L commented flatly, "How rude. Near, you are not that different than me."

"I never said otherwise, L," the youngest boy countered.

Light chuckled. "It's not easy, I can say that much," he admitted. "Well, L is not my first friend. But, at least, he is the first one who had the same intelligence like me. It's challenging and refreshing to me. Infuriating yet captivating. "

"How did L be friends with her if she is your ex-girlfriend already during the case? Are you in touch with her after you two broke up?" Matt was curious.

Light corrected, "Misa was my girlfriend during the case. We broke up after the case closed."

Matt widened his eyes as realization sunk in, "Wait, wait, isn't your pregnancy entering 14 weeks? The case closed one month ago. So, when you two had sex, it was during the Kira case? Right? Right?"

Light was reluctant to say anything because he knew where the direction of Matt's question was. Yet, L replied honestly, "Correct."

Matt grinned at L, "So, you stole Light from his girlfriend by hooking up with him? Wicked!" Matt was amused, "Never thought you had it in you, L. Stealing someone's boyfriend and impregnating the said boyfriend. Awesome!"

"Light was willing to have sex with me. I have his consent and I can prove it," L admitted.

"Prove it?" Matt and Mello were stunned. If L could prove it, he must have something as tangible as proof. If it's not written then—the redhead teenager grinned even wider, "You make a sex tape!!!"

Light sighed and glared at L, "Will you stop telling people about this sex tape of yours?"

"Of us," L corrected him. "I have no choice. Your father accused me of rape. Matt accused me of stealing you from Misa. It sounds like I did all of that without your corporation. Don't you think?"

Light frowned, "This is the part that being with you is infuriating."

"Light just needs to confirm so they know that we have consensual sex and I didn't rape Light."

"Stop talking about it, there is a child here!" Light countered.

"I'm 13," Near reminded Light again. He was the smallest boy and still looked like a child rather than a teenager. Near has no interest in sex yet so he ignored their discussion about the famous sex tape. He was interested in their previous topic before the tape. About L being Light's friend. He locked Light's gaze as if there was an implicit sympathy, "It must be boring life for Light."

"Excuse me?" Light didn't follow where that was coming from.

"Light said that L is his first friend to have the same intelligence as him. Then, I assume your day at school in Japan must be boring to you. I saw in your file that you are excellent at everything. Academy, sports, art, leadership, and others. I saw the list of your winning certifications. You are always at the top of everything you do. Easily. It must be boring to you because you are alone at the top," Near elaborated. "Everyone around me at Wammy's House is genius. We are prepared to be L's successor. Sometimes, L would converse with us. Our teachers were qualified and approve by L. Our discussion was meaningful. We are not exactly alone. "

Near continued, "Before L found me and brought me to Wammy's House, I was spent my days from test to test by people who are dumber than me. It was boring because every test was so easy and no one could hold a decent conversation with me."

Light widened his eyes as he realized Near told his origins like what Light heard from L. He throw a glance at L who looked at him back. Light wondering if he could say he knew Near origins bluntly? Did Mello and Matt know about it? He didn't think the boys were close like a friend. Maybe Matt and Mello but he could see there was a distance between the other two and Near.

"Who did put you into tests daily? Your parents?" Mello raised an eyebrow. Matt commented, "You call your parents dumb? It's rude, Near."

Ah, so, they didn't know, Light concluded. He saw Near exchange glances with L. Light didn't know what they discussed wordlessly but L voiced out, "It's up to you, Near. If you want to tell them or not. I should tell you that Light knows about the origins of you three."

Mello scowled, "He knows about our pasts?"

"After I informed Light about I want you three to be our child's guardian should something happens to us and Light's family, he wanted to know your origins. It's understandable as the 'mother', he would want to know about that. I told him the important part but not in detail about what happened to you guys."

Matt pointed out, "But, we don't know anything about him."

"It's not true. There is a file about Light inside the reports of Kira Case," Near told his fellow candidate. "Matt can find it on page 374 under the death of FBI agent's section."

"FBI's agents tailed several family members of high rank in Japanese police. Light was one of them," added Mello.

Matt was surprised, "You two reached that page already?!"

Near turned his head at Mello, "In that file, there is a section where Misa's name was written as Light's newest girlfriend on the other pages. Seems like Mello hasn't read it yet since Mello asks who is Misa."

Mello glared at Near, "I haven't read all of Light's pages. It's quite long!"

Near agreed, he glance at Light again, "Indeed, Light's file has several pages about his achievements during his life. Light is a remarkable student, popular, well-behaved son, and talented in many fields."

"I know that!" Mello snapped.

Light sensed a quarrel between the two and tried to neutralize the situation, he smiled, "You two reached that part only within three days. It's amazing. I'm impressed. Good work, Near, Mello."

Silence followed Light's words. The boys stared at Light in silence. Light felt their reaction was odd. He didn't know that the boys weren't used to getting praises. Especially, being praised with a smile. Their interaction was limited. Only people in Wammy's house and L. No one praises them for doing something expected from them. Not even L. The boys were expected to do some deduction so no one ever praises them in Wammy if they did it.

L glanced at Light and the boys. He knew that Light was only being polite to praise them. It was Light daily habits from Yagami households. L observed them enough to know the family's customs. Sachiko being a good mother always praised her children if they did well in anything. Souichiro also did it. So, it was natural for Light to praise the boys. While the boys were never had it, unless maybe from their deceased family in Mello and Matt's case. While Near—

"I wasn't raised by parents or in a normal family before L found me," Near started after the pregnant silent. "I was raised by scientists. I was born out of an experimental DNA mutation done by an illegal scientist to create a human with the highest intelligence. "

Mello and Matt are shocked at the revelation. Matt asked, "Is that why you are terrifyingly smart?"

Near merely glanced at Matt before he reasoned, "It's not fair I read Light's file but Light didn't know about me. Especially, if he is the mother of L's child. He has the right to know me because I agree to become their child's guardian." He didn't know how to react when he was being praised since no one praise him ever. Therefore, he chose to be honest with Light as a thank you.

Mello crossed his hands on his chest, "You're not the only one who agreed when L ask us."

"I never said I am," Near retorted.

Matt smiled at Light, "You can ask us anything, Light."

"Thank you," Light smiled amiably. "Well, maybe the next time I do a pregnancy check-up with Rogers, three of you are welcome to join me. I think we will know the baby's sex next month."

Matt grinned widely. He thought it was kinda like being a big brother. It was understandable since he was the only child. He thought of L's future child as brother or sister. Mello's eyes shone brightly at the recognition. Being acknowledged is one of the things that Mello appreciates. Despite Near didn't have any expression, he nodded his consent at the idea.

Ryuk who stayed behind Light, chuckled at the sight. It was interesting for him to watch Light with L's potential successor. Ryuk could tell the boys were genius more than average humans. It will be thrilling to watch them as well.

Hey guys!!! Thanks for reading, sorry it took me a long time to update. I'm kinda addicted to drawing since last month so I'm kinda focused on that.

Anyway, next chapter maybe there will be a revelation of the baby's gender. Which one do you want? Girl or boy? Let me know in the review!

psychePetras: I don't think there will be a clue for Light's problem in those Kira Case file LOL he need to solve it alone hehe~
