Light sat in the library with a concealed heavy sigh. His plan to get L on his bed was failed to this day. Well, he did get L on the bed. Literally. But, that was it. Last night was the scheduled time for L to sleep. Yet, like the previous time, nothing happened. Light might consider that L was a genius for solving cases but not in a relationship. Seriously. He never thought L was this dumb! Light has given him every hint about his desire and if L was as genius as his reputation, he should realize now!

Of course, like in Kira's Case, Light didn't give himself away explicitly. He won't tell L exactly what he wants. Why would he do that? He didn't even admit to himself that he was Kira word by word. Light gave subtle hints. Like, when they were dining together, together with the boys, sometimes he would ask about L's cake using craving as an excuse. Well, during this pregnancy, Light was indeed fond of sweets. However, Light would touch their fingers together when L gave him the plate with a smoldering sexy gaze. L merely stared at him then back to his other sweets.

It was humiliating, nonetheless (especially, because of Ryuk laughing loudly in the background).

L suspected something was going on when he glanced at Ryuk laughing but didn't find anything out of ordinary. Light withdraw his plan for several days when he realized L suspected something. After throughout evaluation of his plan, Light found the reason why L was such a fool. It was because L thought such gestures were normal for Light. He didn't think there was a meaning behind those small touches or intentional gazes. He thought Light just being Light because unlike L who was rarely with interact with many people, Light was a social person.

Light frowned deeply.

How he should do it? How Light could make L realize without him saying it?

Light would never say it. No. It was not an option. He would rather suffer in silence than voice it out. Light was never thinking this hard when he was in a relationship. Any woman bow at his wish. But, L was not a woman. He was not an ordinary man as well. He was the greatest detective in the world. L was one of a kind.

Light was back to square one.

"Hey, Light," Matt's voice made him open his eyes to find the boys with their laptops in front of him as Light sat at the head table.

"Yes, Matt?"

"Have you decided who will be your photographer for your pre-wedding photoshoot?" Matt asked without looking up. The boys still translating Kira's Case report written by Task Force.

Auburn's eyes blinked, "Pre-wedding?"

"I know you have a limited choice since L must want to keep it private and everything, but if the photographer is from his work of line, there will be no problem," Matt winked as he grinned, "If you know what I mean."

"Do you have someone in mind?" Light asked calmly despite his mind still in shock. Pre-wedding?!

"Look, I know usually photography thing is handled by Watari or Aiber but I recommend myself for this," Matt speak proudly. "My mother was a photographer while my father was an art director. I was raised in their work environment, well, while I played video games. But, I know how it works. The lighting, the theme, and everything."

Light asked, "Did L ask you to be our photographer?"

"No, I asked him first."

"What did he say?"

"He told me to ask you so you can decide."

Ah, Light understood. Like the one with translating Kira Case, L let Light decide his move. Light smirked faintly but grinned inwardly. Pre-wedding. He could use it!

Mello raised an eyebrow at Matt, "You never take any picture before."

"Sorry, Buddy," Matt smirked, "But, I did toy photography recently. Right, Near?" He winked at the albino boy.

Near merely said, "If you say so."

"What?!" Mello surprised. "You did photography for him? Since when?!"

"Yesterday," Near replied flatly. Mello and Light glanced at Matt who laughed sheepishly.

"I just need a portfolio, man," he reasoned, Matt turned his laptop to Light. "I watch the tutorial online so I practiced using Near's toys first. Just so you know, I have my way with technology. So, the camera is not different."

Light was surprised by how well the photograph turned out. He guessed Near must be lined out the dice as a building for the background and then there was a robot in the middle of tall buildings. Several mini police cars surrounded the robot so it appear to be a giant and was a threat to the police cars that were there to handle it. He took different angles with the light from above. There was a suspense vibe going on from the picture. Light must admit that Matt was right, his sense of photography was there.

"You do have a talent, Matt," he said. "But, I can tell you will need more practice. Why don't you use real humans to practice your photography skill before my pre-wedding photoshoot?" Light admitted, "Pre-wedding isn't exactly in my mind considering L, you know. Can you imagine how he will be if we do a photoshoot? I don't want it to have vibes like beauty and the zombie kinda thing."

Matt laughed, "I feel you, man!" He continued, "I can totally see how the picture will be turned out!"

"See? You know what I'm talking about," Light chuckled. "We can discuss the theme first with L while you practice your skill."

"But, who will be my model to practice?" Matt crossed his hand on top of his chest.

Light glanced at Near first which the albino noticed, then he stared at Mello longer. The blond saw that and disbelief colored his face, "You're kidding..."

"I'm suggesting you take picture of Mello and Near as a couple, Matt," Light smiled.

Mello snapped, "What?!"

"You don't think Matt should practice his skill with Watari and Suseri as a couple, do you?" Light raised an eyebrow. "The age gap will be too far between me and L. It will be hard for Matt to adjust the vibe. It's better if a younger couple is the model."

"Near and I are not a couple!" Mello barked.

"I know that," Light added, "That's the point for Matt to practice. He needs to be able to capture a couple of moments from the models. It's just for his practice. You don't have to date Near, Mello." He glanced at the blond pointedly, "Unless you want to."

"As if!" Mello scowled. He glared at Near who twirled his hair silently. "Don't I have a say in this?" Mello focused his glare at Light.

"Well, don't you want L to have a nice memory to look at?" The Japanese teenager emphasized, "Our child might look into this pre-wedding picture someday. Wouldn't you want your godchild to have the best memory from us? If Matt has the chance to practice, it will be perfect."

It silenced Mello. He remembered he saw the wedding picture of his parents when he was a child. He imagined L's future child will do the same and Mello wanted that. He faced away in defeat. "It's decided, then," Light glanced at Matt.

"Mello and Near?" L gulped down his cake. They were at the dining table for dinner. Matt has told L about Light's suggestion to practice his skill with a real model and not just Near's a toy. L stared at his no.1 and no.2 successor candidates before he commented, "Interesting."

"No, it's not." Mello glared at L. The older man merely glanced at him before putting his fork on the cake again. "Why don't Matt practice with you and Light instead of me and Near?"

Light pointedly reminded Mello, "L barely has time to sleep as it is now. It will be better for Matt to do trial and error first so he can take pictures effectively."

"So, about the theme," Matt joined after he finished his dinner. "Should I use the same one for Mello and Near as practice or a different one?"

"Hmmm," Light glanced at L, "What do you think of our pre-wedding theme?"

"I'm not an expert in wedding things, Light," L admitted honestly.

"I will be surprised if you are," Light agreed. "I search about it in the evening. Usually, there will be 2 themes. One is a formal one. The couple wearing a wedding outfit. Then, the other theme is more casual. Some people use their occupations as outfits. Or the couple's hobbies. Such as, if they are fond of traveling or hiking or anything that the couple enjoys."

"If it's based on occupation then, it will be a detective and a student?" Mello suggested but as he observed them, he clarified, "a foreign detective and a Japanese student."

"Yes, Mels," Matt nodded. "That's what I'm thinking about."

Light seconded, "Not bad."

"What are you two enjoy together? Do you have the same hobbies?" Matt asked Light.

"I like it when we did a tennis match in Japan. I enjoy playing a game of chess with Ryuuzaki," admitted Light. Matt noted inwardly. "How about you, L? What would you like to do with Light?"

All eyes were on L who stared unblinkingly at Light. The teenager stared back calmly but he suspicious L would say something out of hand. He had a bad premonition when L stared into his eyes like this. It was like when he was still active as Kira. L would stare hard at him like this.

"L?" Mello called his mentor confusedly.

L mumbled, "Handcuffed."

His heart stopped beating for a second. Auburn's eyes of Light widened briefly but his fist tightened around the fork in his hand. Handcuffed? Why did L suddenly say that? Did he imply that Light was Kira indirectly? Was that mean their deal will be over? Did L abandon the child in Light's abdomen? He didn't want this child anymore? What was the meaning of this? Was that mean Light will be captured any moment now?

Secretly, Light glanced around if there will be any backup. He glanced down at his watch. Will he have enough time? Light knew the escape route of this mansion because Suseri gave him a tour days ago. He believed he can escape if needed. His Auburn eyes moved from his watch to L. He just needs to—

"Too much information, L!" Mello with a tint of red hues on his cheeks. Matt was not much different. His face was redder than before. He put his thumbs up, "Kinky! So inspiring, man!" with a knowing grin.

It took Light a half-second to know what they were talking about. Ah. They meant handcuffed during sex. Of course, normally, that came first if people talk about a couple and their favorite. It was a little bit too late to be insecure about L will arrest him. Light has been in England for more than a week. If L wanted, he could arrest Light while he was sleeping at night. Even when they were in Japan after Yotsuba Case. But, it never happened. L never arrested him. He just locked away both Death Notes. Yet, Light didn't know if L had that fetish in mind as Matt implied or if he just wanted to scare Light since he said that out of the blue. Considering they didn't have sex since the child conceived, Light doubts L thinks about handcuffs and sex at the same time. Or...maybe L has that fetish? They did it the first time while they were handcuffed now that he thought about it.

"Ryuuzaki," Light gave a stern warning voice yet still as soft and gentle tone like he usually did, "Usually, pre-wedding photographs will be on display during the wedding. I would suggest a normal theme for our pre-wedding. Handcuffs are too—"

"Wait," Matt cut in, "The theme with handcuffs can be romantic, you know. Of course, not in a dirty way."

Both L and Light stared at Matt flatly. They thought in a dirty way. Therefore, "Go on," L said.

"If you two handcuffed to each other, it symbolized that you are captivated by each other. It's like a prisoner of love kinda thing if we consider L's occupation. So, the crime in here is stealing the heart or love or something along the line of each other." Matt explained.

Mello concluded, "Crime to be in love."

"My point exactly," Matt confirmed as he grinned.

"Romantic in a twisted way," Mello commented. Matt agreed, he laughed, "Isn't it more suitable for L? Since he is eccentric and all." Mello couldn't argue that point.

L and Light exchanged glances. They were reminded when they have handcuffed together a few months ago. Not for decoration or pre-wedding theme or have a deeper meaning. But, they did it as the detective and his suspect. Honestly, Light never thought it that way but Matt has a point if he put it that way. Not that he will confirm it verbally. Neither L.

"It's fascinating, isn't it, Light?" L asked him with a pointed glance. Light knew what that meant. Their reality (being handcuffed) could be interpreted as something resembling romantic. Neither thought about it before since they have different agendas when they were handcuffed. L wanted to catch Kira while Light wanted to defeat L. However, neither achieved their goals.

"I knew you would say that," Light smirked. "It will be meaningful considering our history."

Matt raised an eyebrow. He felt there was something between L and Light that he couldn't understand.

"Did I miss something?" He asked.

Unexpectedly, Near was the one who replied, "I believe L and Light referring to their days when they were being handcuffed together."

Matt and Mello were surprised, "What?!"

Light looked at Near, "Ah, you reached that part already in your Kira Case translation?"

Matt was curious, "What? What's going on? What do you mean, Light?"

Light glanced back at L. The older man only stared at Light silently. He didn't say anything which mean he wanted Light to do as he wish for this. L won't interfere with Light answers. Whether it will be a lie or the truth. That was the silence meant. Light blinked his eyes then he turned to the boys. The truth was not Light's specialty. L and Ryuk knew that. Both of them wondered how Light will answer that.

"Near," Light said calmly, "Would you mind telling them about your finding?"

Both boys looked at Near who nodded. Near said, "For several months, L and Light were stayed together and handcuffed after Light was being confined for two weeks with 24/7 supervision by L and Task Force."

Matt gasped, he snapped his head at Light and L, "You two were really living together while being handcuffed? Do you really that possessive, L?"

Light cringed inwardly, "It's not living together, Matt. Put the pre-wedding thing away first. But, yes, it was true. The correct term is: I was being supervised by him personally."

"Why?" Mello asked.

Light asked back, "How far are you two in your translation assignment?"

"I was in the chapter where Second Kira sent a message through Sakura TV. L has a suspect and capture the suspect." Mello said.

"Do you know the suspect?" Light asked again.

"Not yet. I will translate the chapter about the suspect of Second Kira tonight."

"I see," Light turned to Matt. "How about you?"

"I'm still in the last chapter where the FBI agents suddenly die including the one who follows you, Light."

Light stared at the boys one by one, "So far, with the information you have, do you have any idea how Kira did it?"

"Kira kills numerous criminals all around the world. The logical analysis for this to be possible would be that Kira is an organization located all over the world," Matt's opinion was similar to L's raw deduction.

Mello told his analysis, "But, the method that Kira used was too neat to be an organization works. No matter how strict the training or anything, it was impossible to have this result. To have many people do the same is humanly impossible. It was as if Kira is one person. Not an organization." L had the same observations last year.

"Kira needs the face and the name of the victim," Near added. "L found this method by sacrificing the top-secret criminal Lind. L. Tailor. The man was unknown to the world. Not even in Interpol's database. The moment he announce he was L, Kira kill him. It's an uncommon way to murder someone."

"And your opinion?" Light asked them. "What kind of method does Kira use?"

The boys exchanged glances briefly. Matt honestly replied, "I can't think of anything. There was no residue of poison from the victims of Kira. There was no evidence of a bullet, so no sniper either. But, to kill at the same time all over the world yet without an organization or something... It's impossible."

"In addition, even if there are two Kiras, because L found a suspect of Second Kira, it's still impossible to do that all around the world just by two people. If there is a way to do that, it's... A God-like power. No human has it." Mello admitted.

Near said, "Yet, Kira and Second Kira have that power. Second Kira said it in the video for Sakura TV. Shinigami no me. The God of Death's eye. Kira, the original one, needs both face and name but Second Kira can kill just by seeing the face of the victim. If it's just a metaphor, that's Kira's power. But, I will not rule out that Shinigami's eye is the real deal."

Light wasn't surprised the boys were close to L's deduction during Kira's Case. They were L's successor after all. But, he was interested to hear Near's perspective, "May I know why, Near?"

"First victim of Kira was in Kanto, Japan. That was why L tested the broadcast and focused to investigate the Japanese police since Kira has access to the criminal file," he continued, "Despite being modern, several Asian countries, including Japan, still practice supernatural beliefs. I've read the legends of Abe no Seimei and the onmyouji practice still exists in Japan. If that kind of power truly exists now, Kira's power is reasonable."

Near was not aware, but Ryuk was impressed as he stared at the boy. "This kid is interesting," he chuckled. Neither L nor Light reacted to Ryuk's words but they exchanged glances.

Matt asked, "So, what's the reason why you were living together and handcuffed, Light?"

"I was supervised 24/7, Matt," Light emphasized the word.

Matt raised two hands as a surrender sign, "Alright, alright. Supervised by L. Why?"

"You've done the translation for the FBI chapters, right?" Light observed the boys. He saw Mello and Near widened their eyes as the realization sunk in.

"Yeah, several FBI agents stalked the member and family members of NPA's higher," said Matt.

"Including me," Light pointed himself.

Mello frowned, "They were Kira's suspects. The FBI's agents died despite Kira only kill criminals before. Kira kills them. Which means one of the people that they follow was possibly Kira."

L stared at the boys and Light intensely. He knew Light leading them on to reach this conclusion but he doubt Light will admit he was Kira. No, it was impossible for Light to confess. What was Light planning?

Near stated, "You were one of the suspects."

Light smiled, "I was."

Matt caught on, he reluctantly asked, "You were under L's direct supervision because he suspected you to be Kira?"

"What's the reason?" Mello insisted. "L must have a strong reason to handcuff you as a suspect. He must be pretty sure you were Kira to do that drastic measurement."

Light was silent for a moment before he said seriously, "What I'm about to tell you is something only L knows. No one else knows about it. Not even my parents. Only L knows, he is the only human being who knows about it. I will appreciate it if you are not being judgemental or telling anyone."

L still didn't say anything. He wondered what was Light's plan. So far, he didn't anything out of the Task Force's report about Kira. How will he dodge the suspicion? L believed the boy has now reached the conclusion he did a few months ago. Especially, with how Light led them on. The secret only L and Light know? Was that meant it was not about Kira's true identity? Because Misa knew about it too. If this secret only L knew… Wait, Light specifically mentioned that L was the only human being who knew. It means Ryuk knew about it too. L eyes widened briefly as he knew what Light was talking about.

Ryuk enjoyed the sight as Light told them, "Because my eyes can see something which can't be seen by normal people."

Ah, he meant that. Ryuk likes where is this going. L noticed Light's eyes moved from the boys' faces to their behind. He didn't see it but Ryuk saw what Light saw. The transparent figure hovering behind the two boys.

Hi, long time no see! Sorry, for the late update. My life is a bit hectic since last month. I'm trying to stick to my schedule to update but well, sometimes life happens.

Sadly, since the first part (Unforeseen Circumtances) Light has been checked with USG and I wrote a baby heartbeat, it means the baby will be only one. I can't make it twins for now. Maybe for Light's next pregnancy? LOL

Well, I just started read Death Note fanfictions last year so I'm still new in this fandom. I do watch the anime since 2006 but never touch the fandom. I thought this fandom is dying, but apparently it's not! Especially for LxLight couple. LOL I feel you. I do have in mind that the baby will resemble Light more than L. Only the gender will be decided by reader. Including the readers from AO3. I still open the vote for the baby's gender. So, maybe others will vote for a girl. I wish you luck!
