Sasha stares at Bill sitting on the sectional, who is staring off into the far corner of the room, his eyes not focused on anything. "Is he okay?"

"I don't know," Laura replies. Stupefaction isn't the state she expected him to be in after revealing her unexpected pregnancy.

Walking into his line of sight, Sasha tries to break his gaze, but it doesn't work. "What did he say when you told him you were pregnant?"

"Nothing."

"Nothing at all?" Sasha asks in a surprised tone.

"No, nothing at all."

"Try kissing him. That might snap him out of it."

Laura brushes a hand against his cheek, then gently kisses his lips. "Hmpf. Nothing."

"At least he's smiling."

"That's a good sign," Laura agrees.

Sasha glances down at Emilee in her arms, who is staring intently at her father. "Maybe we should give him the baby."

"I don't think that's a good idea. I'm afraid he might drop her."

"Alright, baby Em, looks like you're stuck with me for a while longer," Sasha coos at the little girl, placing a kiss to the top of her red curls and snuggling her. "Laura, we should do dinner next weekend instead. I don't think your husband can handle the company tonight."

"I agree, that would be best. He's in shock."

"Mmm-hmm. Reminds me of Stuart when I told him I was pregnant." Sasha recalls the vacant stare on her beau's face, the slight crinkling at the corner of his eyes like he was trying to analyze the situation before responding.

"How long did it take for Stuart to snap out of it?"

"I wasn't really keeping track of time. Around 10 or 15 minutes maybe?"

"Did you just wait and stare at him?"

"I did for a while, then I loaded the dishwasher. Eventually he joined me. I think it was because loading the dishwasher is something people can do on autopilot. When we were done, he hugged me and didn't let go for a long time. Then we talked for a few hours."

"And now you're living together."

"And now we're living together. Even if we weren't having a baby, I might have moved in with him anyway. I really like him."

"Did you see that? He blinked really fast three times. He's coming around." Laura snaps her fingers in front of Bill's face, trying to bring him back to reality.

"Hi," he exhales with a warm smile on his face.

"How are you?" Laura asks.

Bill sighs before replying. "I'm great. How are you?"

"Pregnant."

"I remember that part. How are you, Sasha?"

"Pregnant," she giggles, mimicking Laura's response.

"Our babies can play together," Bill says dreamily.

"All three of them!" Sasha exclaims.

"Two will be mine," he says proudly.

"That's right, two will be yours," Sasha agrees, grinning at Laura who's trying not to laugh. "I'm going to text Stuart to come pick me up," she says while handing Emilee to her mother.

"I was hoping you'd stay for dinner," Bill says.

"Stuart and I will come back next weekend for dinner. That way you'll have time to think about this and let it soak in."

"Sasha, can I ask you to keep this quiet until I've had a chance to see the doctor?" Laura asks.

"My lips are sealed. Make sure you text me about what the doctor says. Or if you want me to come over and help out with Emilee this week, let me know. I'm only working part-time right now. Stuart will be here in 15 minutes," Sasha says, checking the text message she just received. "Bill, can I get you some water?"

"I could use a shot of whiskey," he replies, Laura nodding her approval to her friend who finds a shot glass and fills it. "Laura, are you sure you're pregnant?" Bill asks.

"Blood tests are pretty accurate and mine came back positive. It also explains my appetite, tiredness, and crankiness."

"And horniness. You've been really horny," Bill says, causing Sasha to laugh. "Kind of loud, like when you were pregnant with Emilee."

"Which wasn't all that long ago. Before we tell anyone, I need to see the doctor and make sure everything's alright. Don't you think?"

"Good idea. I wonder how far along you are?" Bill asks.

"I bet a few months. I'm sure the doctor will tell us."

"I'll take off work and go with you. Laura," he says, taking her face in his hands, "we can do this. I know you're worried, but I know we can do this."

"Aw," Sasha sniffles. "I think I might cry."

Lazily tracing the curves of the muscles on his chest, Jen closes her eyes, letting her memory of Dave's body guide her fingers. Some people might judge them for getting engaged so soon, but the short amount of time they've officially been a couple doesn't bother them because they've fallen so deeply in love with one another. It's like existing together in a different realm where intimacy is defined not only physically and emotionally, but spiritually and intellectually as well.

Accepting his marriage proposal last night was effortless. He gave her the option of making it official before leaving Tauron, offering to delay their return to Caprica to later Sunday evening. But then they both thought of their families: Cheryl, Sandra, Laura, Emilee, Bill, Joseph, and Evelyn. They can't leave them out of their celebration – likely just a small, casual ceremony with dinner to follow. Their family will be the only guests because they are the most important people to them.

Jen's fingers travel south following the hair down from his navel, then venture to the side, until he's unable to contain his laughter any longer.

"Should I make it permanent?" he asks.

"Hmm, I don't know. Do you really think that's your style? I always thought if you got one it would be a stallion or an historical symbol," she states, her fingers tracing the outline of the fake butterfly tattoo he had applied before they left for the museum last evening.

"It could be our own private, intimate butterfly collection," he suggests.

Jen rolls on top of him, kissing him thoroughly before opening her eyes and grinning at him. "It requires closer observation from me," she purrs before kissing his chest, following the same path her fingers had traced a moment ago.

"Take your time," he murmurs, reveling in the attention from her lips. Seconds later, he groans when her slender fingers wrap around his hardened shaft.

"Oh, honey, I plan to."

Shortly after Sandra turns off the vacuum cleaner, the sound of the garage door alerts her and Cheryl to their father's arrival home. It's perfect timing. The two sisters had gotten up at 8 am, ate breakfast, showered, then set about cleaning the house which had become like a pig sty in the four days Dave was gone. Sandra knew if there was ever any hope of him leaving her in charge again and alone with Cheryl, they needed the house to look as good as he left it.

They had fun while he was gone - going out to eat, swimming at the neighbor's pool, watching movies together in the evening. Despite seeing Jeff and his new girlfriend at the ice cream parlor, Friday night was still a good night because it brought the two girls closer together. Also, Sandra was proud of herself for not losing her cool when she saw proof that Jeff had moved on.

The garage door closes but her dad still hasn't come inside. Thinking he may need some help carrying in his luggage, Sandra steps into the garage from the kitchen. Standing by the open trunk of his sedan is her dad who is sharing a passionate kiss with JJ.

"Oops, sorry," she says, trying to tip-toe away with a smile on her face, happy that they both had a good time on Tauron.

"Sandra, it's okay," JJ calls after her, giggling softly when Dave nuzzles her ear. "How did you and Cheryl get along?"

"Great! No problems. We even cleaned the house this morning and we didn't fight at all."

"Are Laurie, Bill, and Emilee here yet?" Dave asks, still holding onto Jen with his arms wrapped around her waist.

"No, are they supposed to be?"

"Yeah, we invited them over. Thought it would be nice to see everyone again."

The couple exchanges a look that doesn't go unnoticed by Sandra. Someday she hopes to be as blissfully in love as they are. As she watches them interact, the light touch of her father's hand on JJ's back, and the way JJ touches him whenever she can, she wonders if Jeff could have been that person for her. If she had dealt with the lingering grief from losing her mother and been ready for a real relationship, Jeff might have been the man to make her heart soar.

She misses him - their easy banter, his hugs, the way they could be themselves with one another. Out of all her friends and family members, he understood her the best. But now, looking back on the entirety of their relationship, she feels like she took his friendship for granted. In fact, she knows she did because that is what she misses the most right now. They could be honest with each other, tell each other anything without fear of repercussions, yet it was her inability to explain her feelings that pulled them apart once and for all. In the past several weeks she has worked hard to address her grief, acquire coping mechanisms, better articulate her feelings, and she has finally begun to put things into perspective. When enough time has passed, she'll try speaking with him again. Hopefully they can be friends after that, but she doubts they'll ever get back to the way they were.

"Hey, honey, you look kind of sad," JJ observes. "Are you upset about something?"

"Huh? No," she replies, JJ's comment forcing her to abandon thoughts of Jeff. "I was hoping for a hug from daddy, that's all. It's been four whole days since I've seen you."

"Come here, Sandra Sue," he says, pulling her into a bear hug.

"Daddy," she lightly complains, "you need to stop calling me that."

"You know I have trouble letting go. Just ask Cheryl."

"Mmm, I know. I guess I don't mind as long as you don't call me that in public," she says, pulling back, smiling, and pointing her finger at him. "JJ, can I get a hug from you, too?"

"Certainly," she replies, smiling contentedly at Dave over Sandra's shoulder. "I always have a hug for you, just say the word."

By the time they have unpacked and sorted out their laundry, Laura, Bill, and Emilee arrive at the house. Dave asks for everyone to gather in the living room, letting his children occupy the chairs and sofa while he and JJ stand before them, beaming at everyone.

"Last night when we were dining together," he begins, "I asked Jen to marry me."

Drawing in a loud, deep gasp, Cheryl slaps her hands to her cheeks in excitement.

"And I said yes," Jen announces, her arm around Dave's waist as they both smile affectionately at each other.

"Oh, daddy, I'm so happy for you," Sandra says, her hand flush against her chest as joyful tears well in her eyes. "Welcome to our family, JJ. I'm so excited for both of you!"

The warmth Laura feels in her heart from the couple's decision to spend the rest of their lives together creates a large smile on her face. "Congratulations to both of you," she says, standing to hug them. "And from Emilee, too. Bill, isn't this great news?" she asks, turning toward him.

For the second time in 24 hours, he's speechless, staring into the distance, smiling about the unexpected turn of events that has taken place.

"Bill?" Laura asks again, giving him a nudge with her shoulder as she sits down next to him and takes Emilee from his arms.

"Yeah, great news! So much great news this weekend!"

The doctor confirms Laura's pregnancy the following Friday morning, which is the soonest she could get in to see her OB. Bill and Laura watch the monitor as the ultrasound is being performed, melting a little when they finally see the little buds that will become fingers, and the outline of their baby's head. The age of the fetus is estimated to be about 2 months, which means conception likely occurred around the time of the trip to Picon for Bill's promotion ceremony.

For a brief moment the day before, Laura began to question whether it was a good idea to go through with the pregnancy since her body hasn't had time to fully bounce back from the previous one, and since she's still breastfeeding Emilee. But that moment of pure joy upon seeing their healthy growing baby inside her womb overwhelms them and puts to rest any thoughts of terminating the pregnancy.

Sunday noon dinners have resumed in the Roslin home where they discuss everything from Dave and JJ's upcoming wedding, which will be at the end of the spring semester, to Sandra's art projects and Cheryl's growing interest in developing computer games. There will be another topic of discussion once everyone has had a chance to talk about their week – the announcement of a second baby Adama. Bill's parents already know and have been sworn to secrecy until the Roslin side of the family has been told.

"So, Laurie, you had the party with Jean and all the bridesmaids last weekend, right?" Dave asks. "How'd that go?"

"It went really well. Eugene's family is wonderful, and they have a beautiful estate. I should also let you know that Sasha is expecting in about 5 months."

Dave expresses his surprise, so Laura takes the opportunity to tell everyone about Stuart Stuart, the director of toilet paper, and how kind and considerate he was at dinner last night.

"Sasha has always been such a sweet young lady," Dave tells JJ. "She was a few years younger for her class in school, like Laurie was. She will be a fantastic mom."

"We're going to get our babies together as soon as her little girl is old enough," Laura informs them.

"That's wonderful! Emilee will have a friend to grow up with," JJ surmises.

"She will…and she's going to have a sibling, too," Laura announces, grasping Bill's hand on the table who smiles at her tenderly.

"Babies!" Cheryl shouts while Dave and JJ look at each other, then at Laura and Bill.

"Congratulations you two!" Dave says, holding JJ's hand in his. "When's your due date?"

"In about 7 months unless she decides to show up early like Emilee did."

"Do you know for sure it's a girl?"

"No, but I have a feeling," Laura replies, "and so does Bill. I saw the doctor Friday - everything is normal, strong heartbeat, and we were as surprised as you are right now when we found out. If it wasn't for Sasha asking me about pregnancy symptoms at the party last weekend, I may not have figured this out for a while, so we owe her a debt of gratitude."

"So, this wasn't exactly planned," Sandra says.

"No, furthest from my mind, but happy accidents happen sometimes…you know," Laura says grinning at Sandra, then glancing at Cheryl. Dave, JJ, and Bill look her direction as well.

Narrowing her eyes under her family's gaze, Cheryl can sense there might be something they've never told her. "Why's everyone staring at me?"
