Hi everyone. I'm back with a new fanfic. This is inspired by FriendsEnthusiast's story Second Chances and I would say some of the story line would be similar to it, but I assure you that it is somewhat different from it. Without further ado, here we go.

Chapter 1

The guys have gone to the ski trip at Rachel's sister's cabin for the weekend. Ross wasn't invited for the trip. Their breakup was so severe that it was becoming difficult for the others to take sides.

All of a sudden, Phoebe's cab suddenly stopped due to a low battery, the gang was stuck without any help. Phoebe called Ross to help them out to proceed for their trip. Without any second thought, Ross came in a car to help them out. He swallowed his pride to come and help them and only to face Rachel who was giving him a cold stare.

"Pheebs, your cab's battery is completely broken down. We need to replace it with a new one."

"Okay". Phoebe was nonchalant.

The weather was so cold that Ross was completely frozen and he was not complaining about anything or neither he was not expecting any invitation to come along with them to the trip. But deep down, he was completely heartbroken when Rachel called Mark which lead to him to make assumptions. But he took it too far by sleeping with another girl. He only could feel Rachel's cold icy stare and that pinched him deep down. He regretted that.

They were planning on to call Ross to join them for the trip. They were equally concerned about Rachel. The other four were appreciated his thoughtfulness to help them when the car stopped but were stuck in crossroads on whether to let him come with them or not.

Ross finally arranged all the wires of the battery."Phoebe, the car is ready to go."

"Finally" Rachel sighed. "What are we waiting for?"

"Your welcome."

"Who were you thanking? Are you speaking to me or sleeping with someone else"

"Okay,I accept my mistake. You should have been more clear". Ross angrily tells her

"To hell with you" Rachel shouted

This action got Ross every right to be unhappy. He was clearly frustrated with the ungratefulness she showed when he all the way came to get the car repaired so that they could go their ski trip. All hell broke loose when they both started yelling at each other. All of a sudden, Rachel slapped Ross tightly .She slapped him so tight that his tempers were beyond control.

Ross pulled out a beautiful 8 carat diamond ring surrounded by two rubies.

"You know, I got this ring to propose to you on our first anniversary. And you outright kicked me out on the face by going out with Mark. Do you even know how much pain I felt when that guy was going for you? To hell with you and this ring. I curse you that you won't find any guy as good as me." Ross threw the ring with all the rage building up within him on her face.

"Fine, I don't need you anymore." Rachel yelled

"Anyways I'm leaving so that you don't have to face me." Ross said

"Guys, you need to be more civil." Monica tried to ease tensions between the lovers turned haters.

"Mon, on whose side are you on?" Rachel seriously asks her her

"See you both, I am not on anyone's side. I am asking you to be more civil." Monica calmly tells them

Joey was growing impatient while Phoebe was just calm." See you both, you are dragging I quote "us" both in the middle of your fight. I don't want to be a part of it and I don't want to lose you guys for this stupid arguments."

Ross was clearly upset. All the emotions ranging from sadness, anger, regret and despair was filling. None of Phoebe's and Joey's talk wasn't making much sense to him.

"You're right Joe, I shouldn't keep you guys in the middle of our arguments." Ross said while walking towards his car and opening the door and looking into Joey's eyes. "It would be better that I should not be here."

"Finally. Something coming good coming out of your mouth." Rachel venomously spat out. Phoebe, Joey and Monica felt bad for Ross. Monica gave a dirty look to Rachel.

"I'll call you once we get there." Monica gives him a hug.

"I'm leaving." Ross mumbled

"Excuse me?" Monica questions him

"I'm leaving the city. I'll tell you the details once you guys get back." Ross convinces Monica."You guys have a good trip."

Both Ross and Monica part ways. She joins the rest of the group in the car while Rachel picked up that beautiful ring. She was taken aback by the revelation that he wanted to propose to her and marry her. Meanwhile, Monica sits down in the car with a horrified expression on her face. She was taken aback by the revelation that Ross was leaving the city. She didn't know the reason why, but she was very broken within.

"Why so gloomy. Did someone die?" Chandler gave his sarcastic comment to only get a glare from Monica.

"Mon, what happened? What's wrong?" Rachel was concerned

Monica was incoherently mumbling."R..Ross". Monica was unable to finish the sentence

"What happened Mon?" Phoebe was growing impatient.

"Ross said that he is leaving New York." Monica choked

That hit Rachel like a ton of bricks. She was taken aback about why Ross was planning to leave New York.

Joey was shocked." You gotta be kidding me." Joey was in complete denial. Chandler was silent but was feeling desolate after the chain of events turned out.

"I don't know guys. He told me that he would tell us once we are back home." Monica concluded.

"I hope he changes his mind about moving out of New York" Phoebe silently hoped.

...

Meanwhile, back in Ross's apartment, Carol was helping him pack the his stuff. He was to leave within 3 days to Dallas. He got a job in University of Texas in Dallas to join their paleontology department as a professor and as a researcher. "Ross." Carol holds his hand. "Are you moving because of Rachel?" Carol prompted him to answer

"No." Ross was taken aback.

"Ross, I know you well. When we were married, you had thoughts about Rachel.I knew how your eyes used to light up on the mention of Rachel.I won't press much about it but promise me that you will be in touch with me and Ben." Carol asks him

"Sure.I'll try to be in touch as much as possible." Ross assures her."If you don't mind, can you let Ben stay with me for a day. I want to spend some time with him before I go to Dallas." Ross tells her

"Yeah, after all he is your son too." Carol pats him on the back.

...

Meanwhile, the other five reached the cabin which was owned by Rachel's sister. The gang was completely down by the news that Ross was leaving them. No one really appreciated him up to this moment until he came to save their now,the trip was turning out to be a bust. No one were really interested to do skiing or do anything. It would perhaps the last time where if they are struck anywhere, he would ever come to help

"I don't feel like doing anything." Chandler spat out.

"It's better we go." Joey supplied.

"I mean it doesn't feel like we have come to enjoy." Phoebe added

Monica analysed the situation. She also didn't feel like saying anything but now she made up her mind."Guys, lets have a vote on this."

"Okay sure." Phoebe agreed. In the end, everyone decided to leave the cabin to go home and somehow convince Ross to stay back in New York
