Hello everyone, how are things going? It's been a few months hasn't it? I wanted to apologize for that wait, class and my new job has kept me busy. Thankfully I'll have more free time than I thought and can make personal projects! Thank you all for your patience.
Merida rides Angus through the forest at a slow pace. He can't help but realize the princess is still upset, most likely about their recent encounter. He was smart to give her some time before asking what's up. Once he was ready, Angus stopped walking. He turned his neck aside to look at her, Merida could read what he was trying to ask on his face.
"It's fine, Angus," she said in a slightly upset tone.
The horse kept looking at Merida with the same expression.
"We don't need help, especially from a gommy viking!" Merida snaps.
She gets off him before grabbing an apple from the pouch. She walks away and takes a bite, chewing the apple fast. Angus pushes her back with his snout. Merida rolls her eyes before turning around.
"We don't work with vikings, that's our code!" Merida says. "What's a shrimp from a group of Howlin' fatso's gonna be good for?!"
Merida could read Angus' expression as: "But he's tried being nice".
"Angus, he has a dragon as a pet!" she snapped again. "You really think I'm gonna trust him?! Plus, if I beat him that easily then what good would he even be?"
Merida takes another bite before walking away from her horse.
"Let's get going!" she says in an ordering tone.
Angus was becoming very concerned for Merida. Not only had she ran away after having a fight with her mother, but she was acting so arrogant. She also pushed aside help that could have been very supportive. Angus walked behind her, making sure she wouldn't go off alone.
Unaware of both, a large, dark figure was stalking them from a distance. The figure growled, making sure they weren't spotted. A large drop of saliva fell from their mouth. The being was sure to keep their distance and stay hidden, waiting for the perfect time.
Meanwhile
Rapunzel waved her arms upwards as she rode Toothless with Hiccup. She made numerous cheers with her eyes shut. Flying through the air at this perfect speed was incredible, something she only dreamed off. Hiccup and Toothless smiled, happy she loved this so much.
Jack smiled at the three he was flying with. His whole life his shared experience was unseen by others around him. Being able to share an experience like this not only felt so much better, but he really touched his heart. A small tear was brought to his eye.
Hiccup landed Toothless on a hill in the forest. Jack landed next to them as Rapunzel jumped off Toothless. She ran around full of pure happiness while cheering out loud. She did many spins over and over again, unable to compute her joy.
"That was so amazing!" she yells in happiness. "Thanks a million, guys!"
"My pleasure," Hiccups responds before getting off his dragon.
Toothless nods while making a happy sound.
Hiccup brings up his map, searching where they should go to find the castle.
"Where to?" Jack asks.
"Anywhere but Berk," Hiccups answers with a groan.
"Berk?" Frost asks.
"Sorry, it's nothing, I was speaking out loud," Hiccup responds.
"Oh, this is so great," Rapunzel says. "Not only do I get to finally go to the castle, but I have wonderful people with me! Thank you so much, I mean it from the bottom of my heart!"
"Anything from Mr. Frost himself," Jack says before bowing.
"It's getting dark," Hiccup says. "Let's camp here and decide our path before dinner."
"All good by me!" Rapunzel says.
Toothless responded by nodding before yawning.
Rapunzel ran to find fireworks for the team. She returned to her group after finding plenty of sticks. She set up the campfire before Toothless lit them.
Hiccup brought out a sleeping bag, sad to have only had one.
"Rapunzel, you can have my sleeping bag if you'd like," he offered.
"That's fine, I have my hair!" she said. "Thanks though!"
Jack returned after searching the forest for some food. He was able to find plenty of berries for the group. The three sat together before getting the berries. Hiccup has some leftover apples for them and fish for Toothless.
"Hey Jack," Hiccup said. "Care to have my sleeping bag?"
"I'm used to sleeping in the forest, but thank you," Jack replied.
"Sooo, what are some of the greatest adventures you guys have been on?" Rapunzel asked.
"I fought an evil sand user along with Santa and the Easter Bunny," Jack answered.
"Santa and the Osterhase are real?!" Rapunzel asked in an excited tone.
She got close to Frost's personal space, smiling at his face. Jack was a little uncomfortable, but was used to it after how Tooth acted.
"Yeah, along with the Sandman, Tooth Fairy, and others," he answered.
"Yes!" She cheered. "I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!"
Jack and Hiccup smiled at her excitement.
"I love celebrating Weihnachten with my mother!" she said.
"That's what they call Christmas where you live?" Hiccups asked.
Rapunzel nodded to answer his question.
"Chritsmas is quite wild where I live," Hiccup said. "We give each other weapons as gifts."
"I celebrate with Saint Nick himself," Jack said.
"Those sound so awesome guys!" Rapunzel cheers.
"By the way, Hiccup I didn't get to hear of your adventures," Rapunzel said.
"I fought Toothless in the woods," he answered. "Probably the best experience I've had so far."
Toothless cuddled next to Hiccup after hearing that, making a happy moan. Hiccup patted his head, making Hiccup purr.
"You two are so cute!" she says in a high pitched voice. "I love it!"
"What about you, Rapunzel?" Hiccup asked. "Any adventures you've been on?"
Rapunzel's smile disappeared before she lowered her head. Her eyes lost shine as her rosy cheeks went pale. Her lips made a frowning shape, showing that question hit a nerve. She also wasn't moving around like before, rather she was sitting still.
"I've been locked in a tower my whole life," she said in slow, sad words.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Hiccup said. "If it's personal then we don't need to talk about it!"
"No, it's fine," she said.
"Anyway, it's been a long day, so how about we-"
Hiccup stopped before he saw Jack was also upset.
"Being alone is a terrible pain," Frost added.
"Yeah, let's not talk about this and get some shut eye," Hiccup said, trying to leave the conversation.
Rapunzel and Jack remained quiet, but knew Hiccup was right. They pushed the comment aside and decided it was time to get some sleep. Rapunzel curled herself in her hair to stay warm. Hiccup got in his sleeping bag before Toothless laid next to him. Jack rested on the grass, not having a problem with being on the ground.
Meanwhile
Merida had made a fire for her and Angus to sit by. Merida was also smart enough to set some traps in case a predator came by. The princess was also roasting a squirrel she caught earlier over the fire. Once it was done, Merida began eating it. She gave Angus another apple to join her for dinner.
Angus saw Merida was looking better which made him happy. He cuddles next to the redread, putting a smile on her face. She ran her hand through his mane, helping him relax more.
"Thanks, Angus," she said. "You really are an amazing friend."
The horse neighed to show his care. Merida went back to eating her squirrel. As she took another bite, some goo fell on her shoulder. Merida placed the squirrel down before touching the goo. She could tell the goo was saliva, giving her a bad sign. She grabbed her bow before jumping forward, turning around and aiming an arrow. Fear took over her eyes with what was bestowed upon her.
The creature was a giant bear covered with black fur. The fur was messy and went from head to toe. The hair was curly, spikey, and drenched in blood all across his body. Arrows were impaled on his back, not causing him any pain, suspirisng. The bear stood 13 feet tall, making the princess and the horse look like mice. His one green eye and scared pale eye were enough to strike fear into anyone. Drool fell out of his mouth through his disgusting fangs. This was none other than the great bear, Mor'du!
Merida and Angus stepped back, completely afraid of what they were seeing. Both panted hard enough for their chest movements to be visible. Merida's grip on her bow was becoming weaker by the second. The two also were losing balance with his mere presence.
Mor'du made a mighty roar, loud enough to be heard for miles. His roar was bloodlusted and evil. His horrible breath could be smelt from 10 feet away. Saliva also flew out of his mouth onto anything or anyone nearby. Merida screamed in fear, mind losing almost all courage and body going weak.
Mor'du swung his claw forcing Merida to jump over it. Angus kicked his left leg, only for that to do barely anything. The bear backhanded the horse to a tree. Angus fell to the ground before groaning in pain. Merida stared at Angus in shock before giving Mor'du a glare of pure hatred.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT YOU MONSTER!" she screamed
She drew her sword before cutting his knee. He let his guard down, allowing the Scottish Princess to climb up his back. Once at his shoulders, Merida impaled her sword into his upper back. Mor'du roared in pain as he threw his head back.
"That's for my horse!" Merida said with a deep growl.
Mor'du grabbed her off his back before throwing her to the ground hard. He attempted to step on her, but she rolled aside. She got her bow out and fired many arrows. The arrows did very little damage as Mor'du ran through them.
Once in touching range, the giant bera pinned Merida to the ground. Merida could feel his great strength crushing her bones. The mere touch of his claws cut through her clothing. She looked directly into his horrifying, bloodthirsty eyes. She could smell the odor of his breath clogging up her nose. Saliva fell down from his mouth onto her face and into hair.
Merida was in complete fear, the biggest state of fear she'd even been in. Being this close to the mighty Mor'du was a nightmare come true. Even a brave warrior such as herself felt hopeless and weak. Mor'du roared into her face at the top of his lungs. Merida felt like she was gonna go deaf from the pitch and lose her smell from the scent. She did the only thing she could do: scream.
Across the forest, the others heard her scream. They all got up and faced where they heard Merida.
"That sounded like the Scottish girl from earlier!" Jack said.
"We need to help her!" Rapunzel added.
"Already on it!" Hiccup said.
Hiccup and Rapunzel got on Toothless before taking off. Jack followed as both went high speeds to the location.
Mor'du held his other claw up, ready to cut Merida's head clean off. Merida's life flashed before her eyes as she froze in fear.
'Angus, father, brothers, mother', she thought. 'Please forgive me….'
Before he killed her, Mor'du heard a screeching sound. The sound was very unusual, nothing he had heard before, it had to be from some kind of creature. The screech got louder, making Mor'Du face the direction it was coming from. He saw Toothless flying down at high speeds with a glowing mouth.
"Now buddy!" Hiccup told.
The Night Fury exhaled a ball of fire at the bear, sending Mor'du back and freeing Merida from his grasp. Merida gasped for air, feeling light as a feather with his paw off her body. She also fainted from being rescued by them.
Mor'du brushed the flames off his fur before facing forward. Toothless and Jack landed a few feet away from him before Hiccup and Rapunzel got off. The dragon and bear roared at each other ready for combat.
"Jack, attack from above!" Hiccup ordered.
Frost knew now wasn't the time for arguing and went along with it. He flew up before blasting shards of ice at the beast.
"Toothless, keep him distracted!" the viking told.
Toothless listened before jumping on Mor'du. Both bit and scratched each other in a violent animal battle.
"Rapunzel, help me take care of Merida and her horse!" he said.
She nodded before dashing over to Angus.
"Are you okay?" she asked the horse.
Angus groaned in pain, laying on the ground.
"You're going to be okay," she said with a smile.
Hiccup threw Merida's arm over his shoulders before carrying her away.
"I've got you!" he said.
Merida saw Hiccup carrying him away from the battle. Her vision was blurry, but she could make out it was Hiccup.
"V-viking?" she asked.
Jack kept shooting lots of ice at Mor'du's back. The bear wanted to attack Frost, but Toothless had him distracted. He threw the dragon aside before facing Jack. Toothless quickly recovered and shot many fireballs at Mor'du from behind. Mor'du roared at Toothless, allowing Jack to cover him with ice.
Mor'du grabbed Jack in his giant paw before growling at him with great anger. Jack felt the strength of the bear crushing his body. Mor'du threw his mouth at Frost, attempting to eat him.
Before he could bite Jack, Toothless blasted Mor'du again. This forced him to loosen his grip and Jack to fly out. Toothless inhaled a lot of air before exhaling a massive amount of fire. This coated all of Mor'du's furr in fire, making him roar in pain.
Mor'du rolled on the ground to extinguish the fire before facing Toothless. Toothless ran over, only for Mor'du to grab him by the neck. He slammed the Night Fury to the ground as hard as he could. Mor'du held his free claw up, preparing to slash him.
Toothless thought fast and blasted his face. This caused Mor'du to stumble backwards and release Toothless. Jack used this chance to fire many ice shards at the giant bear. They dug into his skin, but Mor'du shook it off.
He ran at Jack at full speed, forcing him to jump out of the way. Before he could escape, Mor'du grabbed Frost's leg with his fangs. Jack screamed in pain before he was tossed to a tree. He tried standing up, but the bite made it hard for him to keep balance.
Toothless jumped on Mor'du back before clawing at his wounds. Mor'du groaned before trying to reach for Toothless. The dragon avoided his claws as he kept picking at the wounds. Mor'du then ran his back into a nearby tree, slamming Toothless into it. Toothless took it, but that didn't slow Mor'du down. He slammed Toothless many times into the tree, trying to get him off.
Frost gently froze the wound, making him grunt. He took to the air before seeing Toothless in danger made him angry. Jack was about to attack, but then came up with a great idea. He froze the ground below Mor'du's legs, making the bear lose his balance.
This allowed Toothless to get off the bear before climbing up the tree. Mor'du tried reaching for Toothless, but he couldn't keep his balance. Toothless used this chance to blast him many times over. Mor'du began getting overwhelmed by the attacks. Toothless was too high for him to reach and the frozen ground made escape difficult.
Jack roared before making a large ice pillar to cut the bear up. The pillar was twice Mor'du's size and weight At the same time, the night fury continued blasting him. Mor'du's vision got blurry as he body wobbled. Attacks from both Jack and Toothless from a distance were becoming too much, even for him.
Jack then launched another blast, destroying the pillar and sending the bera flying. Mor'du flew back before crashing into a boulder. The rock shattered from impact, covering him in rocks. Though the fire was extinguished, the bear laid defeated. Not even a slight breath was seen from him.
Toothless and Jack got close together, smiling at victory.
"For fire and ice, we ain't a bad team," he said.
Toothless smiled back and nodded in agreement.
Hiccup had placed Merida against a tree, trying to help her relax.
"Hold still, this might hurt," he told.
He applied ointment to her wounds, making her groan in pain.
"Y-you came to save me," she said.
"Of course, you were in danger, what was I supposed to do?" he asked.
"But why?" she asked. "I hurt you, I mocked your people, I pushed you aside. Why save me after all that?"
"Because it's who I am," he answered.
Merida stopped for a minute to consider what he said. He really went out of his way for her, despite what she said and did. He could've left her to die, but chose to save her. Should she travel alongside the group then?
"Hey guys!" Rapunzel called.
Both turned to see the others coming their way. Merida was happy, but confused to see Angus wasn't in anymore pain. In fact, he was up right walking as if nothing happened.
"H-how is Angus walking?" she asked.
"Allow me to answer that question," Rapunzel said.
She got down before wrapping her hair around Merida's wounds.
"What are you doing?" Merida asked.
"Just watch," Rapunzel said.
"Flower, gleam and glow," he began singing.
The team's eyes widened as her hair started shining.
"Let your powers shine."
"Make the clock reverse."
"Bring back what once was mine."
"Heal what has been hurt."
Merida began feeling no pain in her body. The mental stress also disappeared, making her more amazed by the power. The others also couldn't look away with the beautiful sight.
"Change the fate's design."
"Save what has been lost."
"Bring back what once was mine."
"What once was mine."
After she was finished singing, her hair stopped glowing. She unwrapped Merida before the redhead stood up. Merida was at a loss for words, feeling nor seeing any pain through her whole body. She also could stand up with perfect balance.
She faced the smiling team looking at her. Tears began forming in her eyes as she looked down.
"I'm so sorry," she cried.
Hiccup and Rapunzel went over to comfort her.
"Hey, it's fine," Hiccup said.
"Just here to help," Rapunzel added.
"Always a pleasure," Jack said.
Angus bowed before Toothless, the dragon just smiled.
Rapunzel went to heal Jack from the bite and any wounds he got earlier. He watched in amazement as her glowing hair made him recover.
"Where did power come from?" he asked.
"I don't know," Rapunzel answered. "My mother said I was born with it."
"It's a gift worth being proud of," Jack told you.
For once in her life, Rapunzel had been told her power was a gift. Gothel would also say she'd be an outcast and people would try stealing her. Hearing and seeing people proud of her gift brought joy to her heart.
She was going to heal Toothless, but he already took care of his wounds with his saliva. Toothless rubbed his head against Rapunzel as a way to say thank you for consideration. Rapunzel hugged him, causing the dragon to make a happy sound.
"Rapunzel, how could we ever repay you?" Merida asked.
"Please, there's no need to repay me," Rapunzel answered. "Just doing my part."
"Anyway, it's been a long day for all of us," Hiccup said. "How about we bring Merida and Angus back to our camp."
"That'd be lovely," Merida said.
Angus made a happy neigh.
"There's always room for one more," Jack added.
The team returned to the camp before sleeping away.
