Chapter 6
Alarm blared across Ross's room. It was a Saturday morning. Generally, on Saturday mornings, he would prefer to sleep extra and rest for the day completely. The alarm clock on the nightstand read 9:30 AM. He then comes out of his room to see that Monica has woken up and cooking up some breakfast.
"Good morning sleepyhead." Monica greets him
"Good morning Mon." Ross greeted her back. "Where are Chandler and Joey."
"Vikram and Theodore took them for a drive to Irving." Monica tells him."Rach is still asleep with the game we played yesterday."
Ross's somewhat happy expression turned into a complete frown on the mention of Rachel's name. Just then, someone knocks the door of the house.
I'll go get it Mon." Ross gestures towards the main door." Good morning Mrs Franklin." Ross greets the old lady
"Good morning dear. If you don't mind, could you take care of Hazel for a few hours dear" Mrs Franklin asks him."
"Oh sure Mrs Franklin. I'd love to and I don't have any problems." Ross tells her.
"Okay dear, here you go Hazel. Behave well." Mrs Franklin hands her shih tzu to Ross." And this is her food and toys." Mrs Franklin hands him all the essentials that Hazel needed."Thanks again dear." Mrs Franklin thanked him
"No problems Mrs Franklin. Anything for you." Ross tells her and she exits.
Ross comes in the house holding Hazel in his arms
"Monica, we are going to have a dog in company with everyone until evening." Ross tells her
"Oh okay." She comes outside the kitchen to see the dog on the ground sniffing the mat."It's so cute Ross. What's its name."
"She is Hazel." Ross tells her
"Aww, she is so cute. Reminds me of Chi-Chi." Monica reminisces."Which breed is it ?" Monica asks him curiously and she pets it.
"It's a shih tzu." Ross answers her
Just then, Rachel comes out of the room to see that Monica and Ross were playing with a dog.
"Good morning guys." Rachel greeted.
"Good morning Rach." Monica greets her and Ross exits from there. The things were a bit awkward between them. They still couldn't stand before each other.
"Whose dog is this? It's so fuzzy." Rachel admired the dog and momentarily forgot about Ross
"It's Ross's neighbor's dog. She is Hazel." Monica tells her while Hazel was sniffing Rachel.
"She's soo cute." Rachel cried
Just then Chandler and Joey along with Phoebe came in tow. The trio enter the house. Chandler nearly got a heart attack after seeing Hazel.
"Gnnaayaahaa." Chandler starts to freak out on seeing Hazel
"Don't worry Bing. It's just a small harmless dog." Ross tries to knock some sense in Chandler
"But still.." Chandler whined.
"It's seriously funny to see this guy freaking out for a fuzzy dog." Joey sarcastically added.
Just then, Theodore, Vikram and Natalie come into Ross's home.
"Hey Ross, wanna come for a plane ride along with your guys." Theodore asks him
"Yeah, why not?" Ross agreed.
"We'll go to shopping along with Monica,Phoebe and Rachel." Natalie tells them
"Let the guys have fun." Monica cockily agreed.
"Yeah." Rachel's eyes glinted on hearing when she heard that the girls were going to she was still lost in her own world.

A few hours later, the girls went for shopping with Natalie near Grapevine Mall and the guys decided to go for a plane ride as Vikram had a pilot's license. Natalie and the girls from New York have instantly hit off with each other. They all stop at the cafeteria.
"Tell me what do you guys do." Natalie politely asks them
"I am a chef." Monica replies.
"That's nice. I'd love to taste your food once though." Natalie mused.
"What about you Rachel?"
"I used to work as a waitress. Now I am an assistant buyer for Bloomingdales."
"That's nice. I work in the same field as you. I work with Nordstrom." Natalie replied.
"That's cool." Rachel replied back
"Hey, I noticed some change in Ross's behavior since you guys have come." Natalie tells them
"Really?" Monica asks her incredulously.
"Yeah, I mean he is a bit happy otherwise, for most of the time, he is in the gym working out in the evenings or involving himself completely in some work or completely meditating in peace. At first, when he came, he used to be a complete recluse. Since the time he met Vikram and Theodore and me, he was still the same except he doesn't date much." Natalie tells them.
"Hmmm. That's serious." Monica tells her
"I've been meaning to ask about Ross's past. Whenever goes for a date,he just bombs it for no reason. I don't understand why." Natalie tells her
"To be frank Natalie, he was married in the past to a woman named Carol. A few years later, she turned out to be a lesbian. And they both have a son named then, Rachel and he dated almost an year." Monica replied
"Is this the reason why Ross is not dating anyone?" Natalie asked her
"Sadly, this is the truth Natalie." Phoebe stated. Phoebe starts to console her and Natalie also realized that she and Ross had a history and then she also stopped
"I'm sorry Rachel." Natalie truthfully consoled her."I won't press for more if it pains you."
"That's fine. But please don't repeat my mistake with Vikram. He is a nice guy." Rachel advised her

Meanwhile, the guys were at a small airport where Vikram pulled out a small turboprop plane from the hangar with the help of and Vikram had pilot's licenses. Vikram was in the stage of getting one while Ross had one.
"Guys, you need to wait for a while." Ross tells them."Vikram and I need to fill some paperwork regarding what plane we would be renting so better wait." Ross finished
He and Vikram go to the small office and fills the paperwork.
"Okay, looks like we are all set." Ross referred to the paperwork being done.
"Guys, get inside." Ross tells Chandler and Joey.
"Yeah man. It'll be fine. And I advise you guys not to tell anyone including Monica, Rachel and Phoebe that I have a pilot's license." Ross warns them
"Okay man. Your secret is safe with me." Chandler assured him.
Ross puts on his aviator sunglasses and then they all get in the plane and go for a joyride of almost two hours.

Meanwhile, the guys have entered the home after a long joyride in the plane. They all sat down on the couch and then were discussing about sports
"Hey, Giants are hitting the road." Joey tells everyone.
"Let's watch the game. Giants are playing Cowboys today here. Let's watch." Ross added
"Giants rule." Chandler whooped
"Let's see who wins. If Giants win, I'll pay 50 bucks." Theodore placed a bet
"You're on." Joey shouted
"I hope you are not a fan of Cowboys." Joey pointed towards Theodore
"Guys, anyways we all got a few weeks off right, should we all go to Corpus Christi or Grand Canyon sometime after the thanksgiving holiday for a long weekend?" Vikram asks them changing the topic
"Let's discuss with the girls once they come" Ross suggested.
"I'd prefer Corpus Christi though. It would be awesome with all the beaches and all those girls."Joey added
"Joey!" Chandler warned him
"My preference would be Grand Canyon though. I've never been there. I suppose its nice." Theodore mused
"But it's too far away and I might give a speech on how Grand Canyon was formed which my friends would hate it." Ross added. "I suppose Corpus Christi is almost 6 hours drive from here." Ross tells them.
Later the girls are near Ross's home and knock the door.
"I'll get it." Ross goes to get the door.
"Hey girls, come in." Ross gestures them to come in.
They all enter the house to see the guys having some fun by watching a game of football which Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are playing. The time was just 6:00 PM and the sun is yet to set. The game was being played in New York
"Giants are winning babe." Joey hooted.
"Yeah come on boy." Chandler was shouting at the quarterback which made no sense.
It was the end of the final quarter of the game and Giants had defeated Cowboys by 45-9 margin and it was an awesome game.
"Told ya, Giants will batter Cowboys." Joey said.
"Fine man. You go with 50 bucks." Theodore said as he handed a 50 dollar bill to Joey.
"So what's up?" Monica asked them
"Erm, we are planning to go for a trip to either Corpus Christi or Grand Canyon." Ross tells her
"What's the difference." Rachel asks
"See, Corpus Christi is almost 400 miles from here and there are beaches there and Grand Canyon, you guys will get bored." Ross tells them
"Okay fine, let's all go to Corpus Christi. I'm seriously turned on by the prospect of beach trip." Phoebe mused.
"That's cool then. It's settled, we are going to Corpus Christi."Vikram sighed.
"When do we go?" Theodore asks.
"Maybe after thanksgiving for the long weekend." Ross tells him
"Cool." Joey added.
The evening went just fine. They all played poker and it was fun. The game was going intensely between the former lovers. Ross and Rachel were the final ones left behind and all of them lost.
"Come on Ross, call it." Chandler pressured him
It was complete tense moment between Ross and Rachel. The bet was almost around 100 dollars and Ross seemed to was the very moment when the six of them played poker in Monica's apartment and Ross deliberately lost out to Rachel even though she didn't have the time, if he had the set, he would definitely win but now it was a show off.
"You win Rach."Ross lied to was completely false. He won fair and square while others didn't understand why he conceded and let Rachel just gave an eye contact to her. But she didn't celebrate like the way she celebrated first time when she defeated him in New York. It just was not the same. He was completely different when it happened.
"Thanks." Rachel gracefully declines Ross's 100 dollar bill and leaves.
