"I need to talk to you." Beck appeared at Jade's locker after a particularly weird class with Sikowitz.

Every class with Sikowitz was weird, but the last one was a different kind of weird. Mostly because Jade was the root of the weirdness rather than Sikowitz himself.

They were doing a lesson on improv, and Sikowitz called on Jade to come up and do an exercise with a group, which he did all the time. But instead of going up and doing it like she usually would, Jade yelled "bite me" and walked out of class.

Sure, aggressive behavior was kind of expected with Jade, but she liked acting, and she would never admit it to anyone but Beck, but she liked Sikowitz' class.

Even weirder was that when she returned to class fifteen minutes later, her eyes were puffy and red. Jade wasn't one to cry, so it was alarming to anyone who noticed.

And everyone noticed.

"What?" Jade mumbled as she switched out some notebooks for her bag.

"You're freaking everyone out." Beck said simply, as if that would be enough to change Jades behavior. In reality, Beck was gauging Jade's reaction to what he was saying.

Beck knew Jade, he knew her better than maybe she knew herself. When he needed to figure her out, the best way to do that was by prolonging any conversation, making her interject. He knew how to make her reveal more than she wanted to.

Jade chuckled bitterly. "Well that's kind of the point, isn't it?" She gestured vaguely towards herself.

"Jade." Beck sighed. "You know that's not what I mean."

"No I don't. I honestly don't know what you're talking about." The statement was half-true.

Jade knew that Beck was referring to her recent change in behavior, but she didn't get why it was concerning anyone. Most of the time no one payed attention to her or her mood swings.

"You're acting weird, really weird. You don't talk to anyone, you don't yell at anyone, you're constantly running off. Today you walked out of class and when you came back it looked like you were crying. You don't cry," Beck pointed out.

"I don't have time for this." Jade turned towards the front doors of Hollywood Arts, making her way to her car which, unfortunately for Jade, was all the way at the back of the parking lot.

Beck tailed Jade as she walked. "You can't just avoid me, we go to school together you see me every day. I know things have been weird since we broke up but that doesn't mean you have to reject all of your friends too." Just as they stepped into the parking lot, Beck finally had enough of Jade ignoring him. He grabbed her hand to turn her around. "Jade."

"What! What do you want from me? Sorry I'm not Miss America. Sorry that I'm making you and your friends uncomfortable, but I'm not exactly concerned with all of your feelings right now." Jade released her hand from Beck's hold.

"They're not just my friends, they're yours too." Beck reminded her.

"Cats my friend, the rest of them tolerate me because of you. That's it." Jade started in the direction of her car again.

"I just want to know what's wrong. I still care about you even if we've broken up." Beck once again followed his ex-girlfriend.

"Nothings wrong. I'm fine." Jade replied monotonously.

"You're not fine, where are you even going?"

"To my car."

"I'll go get lunch with you." Beck tried, hoping he could prolong the conversation.

"I'm going to my house for lunch, you can't come." Jade answered.

Beck had been banned from her house ever since he told her father he was a narcissistic asshole.

It was an especially uncharacteristic display of anger from Beck.

"You hate your house." He reminded her.

"So?" Jade's head shook.

"So why would you choose to go home if you didn't have to?"

It was more of a statement than a question. Over the course of their relationship, Beck watched Jade put endless amounts of effort into avoiding her house.

Jade stopped walking as they reached her car, she finally turned back to Beck of her own accord.

"Is that really what you're interested in right now? Why I'm going home? Just go back to Tori and friends and leave me alone."

"Not until you tell me what's going on."

"I already told you, nothing is going on," Jade lied.

Beck sighed. He didn't want to say what he had to say next. The topic wasn't one he was fond of.

"I want to see your wrists." He said hesitantly, but firmly.

"What?" Jade's face got red at the request.

"I want to see your wrists," Beck repeated.

"No." Jade crossed her arms in front of her.

Beck shook his head, worry evident on his face. "So that's it then, you're cutting again?"

"No! God." Jade felt herself getting angrier.

Beck had no right to ask her that question, not anymore. He had no right to pretend to give a damn about her. He had broken up with her, she was on her own.

Well not exactly on her own, but it wasn't like the company she was keeping was much help.

In fact, it was kind of the problem.

"Then let me see your arms. No reason why you can't prove that." Beck tried to keep his voice even, but he was growing more and more nervous.

"I'm done with this conversation." Jade got into her car, slamming the door as she got in, then managed to turn the vehicle on and start pulling out of the parking lot in record time.

"Damnit." Beck ran his hands through his hair.

As he walked back towards where his friends would be eating lunch, he wracked his brain trying to figure out what to do.

Beck couldn't go to Jade's mother, no. She would only tell Jade's father and there's no telling what he would do. If Beck went to Lane then Lane would have to tell her parents. It wasn't like she would listen to Beck either. He couldn't get her to stop, not anymore.

Beck sat down at the lunch table with slumped shoulders. His friends exchanged wary looks with one another.

"How did talking to Jade go?" Robbie asked.

"Did she tell you what's wrong?" Tori added.

"No. She didn't." Beck didn't mention that he was pretty sure he knew exactly what was wrong with her. Jade would murder him if he ever told them.

Andre looked uncomfortable in his seat as he studied Beck.

"I need to pee," Andre announced.

"Okay?" Beck looked to his friend.

"Go forth and pee, son." Robbie laughed at his own joke.

"You're a weird dude." Rex added, though it wasn't clear if the puppet was supposed to be referring to Robbie or Andre.

"Beck, come with me." Andre stood from his seat.

"Why?"

"Can't a man just ask his friend to accompany him to the bathroom without it being weird?"

"Okay fine, I'll come." Beck followed Andre.

When they arrived in the men's bathroom Andre checked the room to see if anyone else was inside before facing Beck directly.

"Okay, is this whole thing about Jade's... self harm?" Andre was obviously uncomfortable saying the words.

Beck looked stunned. "How do you know about that?"

"It's a long story."

It wasn't. It just wasn't a story Andre wanted to tell.

"So, is it?" Andre asked again.

Beck shrugged. "I don't know. We were fighting and I asked her to show me her arms and she wouldn't, but she never actually admitted it either. What else could it be?"

"I don't know. Maybe it's not that though. I mean, it's Jade. If she were really pissed off she would refuse anything you asked of her just to be difficult."

"Yeah." Beck smiled a bit.

He always liked Jade's fire. Sure, it made their relationship really, really difficult, but there was just something about it that drew him in.

"Dude, quit it with the dreamy 'I'm in love with Jade West' smile. We're trying to have a serious conversation." Andre scolded Beck half-heartedly.

In all honesty, Andre missed seeing that smile. Beck may not have seemed as upset as Jade about the break up, but it was still obvious he was unhappy.

"Why don't you just get back together with her? You're both miserable without each other." It was obvious to anyone, but especially Andre.

"I want to. I really do. But nothing will change. I love her so much, but it's the constant fighting." Beck explained.

Therein lied the problem. The exact thing that made Beck love Jade so much, her fire, was also what made their relationship so difficult.

"But if you love each other, won't you make it work anyway?" Andre asked sincerely.

"I don't know. I want to be with her." Beck admitted, looking at the ground instead of Andre.

"Then talk to her. Just talk to her about your relationship." Andre put a hand on Beck's shoulder.

"Okay, I'll talk to her. Soon. Though I think I should give her a few days to cool down, she's probably not very happy with me right now."
