Chapter 8
Ross was dating a girl named Charlotte since a long time and Rachel was instantly jealous. He and Charlotte were having a good time. It helped him forget his worries and completely forget about Rachel
"Ross, I want to tell you something." Rachel tells him
"Sorry Rach, have to go." Ross coldly tells her
"Ross, I have to tell you something. Please listen to me." Rachel pleaded
"Leave me Rach. I have to go." Ross said with no emotions except he was getting angry
"Please listen to me. Once?" Rachel pleaded again
"Stop pestering me damn it. I don't care for you Rachel. I hate you to the core of my are the most heartless girl and no guy would ever date you.I curse you that you would never find a guy like me and most of all, I am happy with Charlotte." Ross coldly tells her with a hint of anger
"Ross, I love you." Rachel confessed.
Ross scoffed."It's the past Rach. You have never forgiven me for sleeping with that copy slut while you ripped my heart by going out with Mark and now you want to get back with me." Ross ranted. " I hope that we both never see each other again and I'll always regret the fact that I dated a girl like you who would readily jump ship to date any guy if they cheat. Even if I felt sorry about it, you basically never forgave me for it or whether we were on a break or not." Ross ranted
"You wanted to propose to me?" Rachel asked him
"When did I say that?" Ross furrowed his brows
"When you slammed the ring on my face." Rachel replied.
"I wanted to.But now I've changed my mind and I am happy. This ship has sailed." Ross concurred
"Ross, please don't leave me." Rachel cried as Ross exited
"Ross!"
"Ross!"
"Ross!" Rachel muttered quietly
"Phew." Rachel sighed while wiping her brow. It was a bad dream. She needed to get a closure on them. Ross was ignoring his feelings towards her completely and she was going gaga for him and he wasn't into her yet. She was hopeful that they would at least sit and talk.
...
It was the early November morning and today was Thanksgiving day. The wind was blowing this early November morning and the spirits were high all across the country. It was the first Thanksgiving that was held outside of New York. Everyone have woken up doing their own things while Monica was doing the things which she was doing the best, organizing and planning the food.
"Hey, did Ross wake up ?" Joey asked while noticing Ross's presence was not felt
"I don't know. It's uncharacteristic for him to sleep for a long time." Chandler replied. "He always rose early in the mornings either to go for a run or for anything that needs to be done."
"I know that it's been almost 5 hours since his wake up time and he still hasn't woken.I'll go check on him." Monica concluded.
"Ross?".She said into it as she knocked Ross's bedroom door and hears no response. It was weird. What might have happened? She knocked the door again, but still no response
Finally, she decided to open the door. She is surprised to see a clean room with all the bed assembled and the clothes all in the laundry basket and all the books on the table are neatly stacked. "Upon inspecting the table, Monica found out a piece of paper which Ross left on the table which read
I'm gone out, will be back ASAP and do not worry about me-Ross.
...
Meanwhile, Ross was present at his therapist's office Dr Freeman, who was overseeing his treatment since the past nine months. She was the only hope for him to survive the ordeal. So most of the times, he just kept himself occupied with work or on any thought of Rachel, he used to take his bike for a drive to many places to just keep him happy. If that got severe, then he needed to meet Dr Freeman for that
So, you are having a problem to be around Rachel?" Dr Freeman concluded
"Yeah doc. I just don't know that why does she want to come to me and want me." Ross ranted
"You are having trouble in accepting her around Ross. There is a quote , 'time heals all the wounds'. Maybe you just decided to leave her and make her feel better as she doesn't have to see you." Dr Freeman tried to determine the root of his problem
"I don't know doc, if I start to think about her, I just want to take my problems on someone and if I am unable to deal with it, I just need something to take my anger on someone or start a run from any place without any destination." Ross tells her
"Ross, you need to try stop thinking about her. The more you think about her, you are having a nervous breakdown or you are going to exhibit social withdrawal from people you regularly interact. My advice is you try to keep yourself occupied as much as possible and do not try to hurt yourself physically or mentally.
"Thanks for the advice doc. I'll try to." Ross promptly replied.
...
Monica was freaking out that Ross didn't specify that where he was. She was going wild to see her brother missing since past few hours. Meanwhile, Rachel had a pensive look on her face and was worried for him.
"Where can he be?" Rachel thought.
"I hope he his safe." Phoebe mused with some hope.
Just then, they all hear the rumbling of the garage door. It turns out to be Ross
"Where the hell were you?" Monica angrily asks him
"Nah, I just went for a long drive to Amarillo." Ross lied.
"Oh, Really?" Chandler supplied.
"Yeah.I just go there to relax myself there." Ross vaguely replied."I'll join you all for breakfast." Ross tells them.
...
The spirits were high and the Thanksgiving this year wasn't a disaster unlike couple of years where they all went out on top of the roof of their apartment building in New York and they all got locked outside and all the Thanksgiving food was burnt. The guys were watching the parade while Monica finished all the thanksgiving dishes.
"Guys come on!." Monica shouted.
"Coming Mon." Joey teased. They all were watching the NFL game between New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were all cheering for the Patriots
After half an hour, they all assemble near the dining table to have their Thanksgiving meal. They all enjoy the meal . Later, they all sit on the couch.
They all were chatting, discussing the anecdotes of the past or their favorite Thanksgiving memories. It was fun. But Ross seemed very different from others. He was completely
...
A few hours later, Ross was in his room tossing and turning around the bed. He tried to read a book, listen to some meditation music or try to tire himself out. But he was unable to. He wanted to pour out his problems to someone but was unable to. Now he needed to get this overwhelming thoughts out of his system. He was lost and lonely.
Meanwhile, Rachel was still wanted to talk to him but at the same time, she didn't want to talk to him. Still things were a bit awkward between them.
