A collection of fics based on the Febuwhump 2022 month-long prompt list. All these stories are going to be Whump, and as with my other collections all here will be under 1000 words. All longer ones will be published separately. Some chapters here may be turned into full fics later. Please be aware that tags will be added to each chapter. I do not own the characters.

10. Dad

19: Delirium for Drifly with Virgil and Aliceinwhumperland's Whump Words of the Day: "Yes, I know. I love you too. Go back to sleep please."

Characters: Virgil, Scott

Warnings: Delirium, Mistaken Identity

'Momma?'

Scott's heart constricted painfully and his mouth went dry. He leant forward, trying to capture Virgil's attention, but his brother's eyes were not seeing him.

'No, not Momma. Dad?'

He thought Virgil wasn't seeing him, but maybe he was wrong.

'Virg?'

'Dad, where you been?'

'I'm here, Virgil.'

'I know, Dad. I know.'

'Relax.'

'Dad, are you back now?'

'I'm not going anywhere, Virgil.'

'Finally.'

'Virgil?'

'Scotty needs you, Dad.'

'What?'

'He's trying too hard, Dad. He'd trying too hard.'

'Too hard doing what?'

'Caring, Dad. He's trying too hard and I'm frightened, Dad. I'm frightened.'

'What are you frightened of, Virgil? Your brother is strong.'

'Strongest man I know, Dad.'

'So why are you frightened?'

'He's going to work himself into an early grave taking care of us all.'

'No, you know your brother. Scooter will be fine.'

'I hope so, Dad. Will you tell him?'

'Tell him what, Virgil?'

'Tell him to slow down.'

'Do you really think he needs to?'

'Please Dad! Please, you need to tell him!'

'Ok, ok, Virgil. I'll tell him, I promise. You need to calm down and get some sleep. You're sick.'

'Ok, Dad. I will.'

'Close them eyes for me.'

'Yes. Love you, Dad.'

'Yes, I know. I love you too. Go back to sleep please.'

'I will.'

Virgil's eyes drifted closed and his breathing evened out.

Scott held his brother's hand and wiped his eyes.
