"So- lemme get this straight," Harry grumbled, shaking his head. "You told them I was dead, and now there's an alien invasion going on in New York, that they're stopping in my name."

Fury nodded. "Correct. I expect you to go help them."

Harry nodded seriously. "I will. But don't talk to me like you're my boss, or my dad. Cya later, Fury, after we save the world."

"There are just way too many of them!" yelled Hawkeye. He was running out of arrows, being forced to scrounge up arrows from the fallen Chitauri.

"I agree with the archer! We are being overrun." replied Thor.

Tony chuckled. "Well, if you think we're not doing great, you might not wanna see this huge worm monster I got chasing me."

All of a sudden, a new voice sparked on their comms. "I see you all are in need of assistance. Glad I joined you, then."

They all paused for a second, then went back to fighting.

Steve spoke first. "Harry?

Harry nodded, then blushed, realizing how useless the gesture was as he was speaking through an earpiece. "Yes, it's me, and I'm here to help."

Thor laughed, and replied, "The Director, Fury, informed us you had perished! It is wonderful to see it is not so."

"Well, I did die, momentarily," Harry replied, "but I came back."

Here, Tony chimed in. "Ok, so you're SO gonna tell us all about that later, but right now I've got a big monster worm chasing me and I don't wanna die. Yet."

Natasha's voice came on. "There's someone here who might be able to help with that."

"Hey guys," Bruce's voice said, "It's me, Bruce. Everything seems, uh, kinda bad."

"No dip," Tony scoffed.

Bruce blushed. "Just bring the worm thing here, Tony."

Tony maneuvered his way towards them. Upon seeing the massive beast, Steve paled. "Banner, now might be a good time to get angry."

Smiling benignly, Bruce replied, "That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry."

Turning in a heartbeat, he morphed, roaring in anger, and punched the beast out of the air! Its scales folded upon itself as its body was crushed completely by the impact. Roaring, the Hulk jumped away to fight more Chitauri.

Loki watched in silent anger as the Avengers struck down the Leviathan. "Send the rest."

The portal swelled as thousands of Chitauri soldiers flew out, screeching in fury. Leviathan after leviathan wormed out, wreaking havoc to New York.

Harry looked at them. The Avengers needed a plan. "Alright, listen up, everybody," He said, while shooting an apologetic look at Captain America, who looked like he was about to speak, "Until we can bring that portal down, we gotta focus on destroying these beasts. The less there are in the playing field, the easier it'll be to finish the job, assuming we can. Barton, I'll give you a lift to a rooftop. Tony, you gotta get a perimeter. Hold them all within three blocks. Steve, Natasha, stay on the ground. Draw them to you. Keep the fight down here, away from the civilians." He glances up at Thor. "Thor and I will be at the portal, trying to stem the flow."

The group nodded at the instructions. Harry quickly levitated Barton to the nearest rooftop. Thor, looking on in amazement, said, "It will be a pleasure to work with you, seidr."

Harry chuckled. "The same to you."

Thor and Harry flew up towards the portal. Thor roared defiantly, and raised his hammer, calling lightning to him and smiting the Chitauri right out of the air. While it was an impressive display, Harry could tell that it was taking Thor's energy. Harry, who had, upon finally accepting he truly was the Master of Death, had embraced the power the title had come with. He flew into the air, power crackling around him. All around the city, eyes were drawn to him. Loki's, the Chitauri's, the Avengers', and the hopeful peoples'. Harry channeled the power into his spells. He flung Piercing Curses at the foot-soldiers, Bombardment Hexes at the leviathans, all while dodging any attacks coming at him in fluid motions. He gazed up at the portal, still supplying an endless stream of the monsters. He quickly summoned fiendfyre- and it took the form of a phoenix. The huge fiery phoenix flew around the portal and blasted gouts of flame at all the Chitauri- cutting the flow off. Thor had wide eyes. "You truly are powerful, seidr friend."

Natasha was exhausted. "Captain, none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal."

Captain America glanced over at her, panting from fatigue. "Our biggest guns couldn't touch it."

"Well," she replied, "Maybe it's not about guns."

They looked over at a Chitauri flying chariot.

The Captain nodded. He boosted her up on his shield, and Natasha flung herself onto the chariot. Quickly, she dispatches the gunner and pilot, taking control of the vessel. Barton, on his rooftop, picks off the Chitauri following her.

As Natasha cruised towards Stark Tower, blasts of energy started being shot towards her. She looked back. "Oh. You." Loki was hot on her tail. Barton fired an arrow at him, but he catches it, smiling smugly at Barton.

Boom! The arrow detonates in Loki's hand, and he's send tumbling into the Stark Penthouse floor. Loki stood slowly, shocked that he was taken down. The Hulk jumps through the window, roaring at the one who had caused all this chaos.

Loki screams defiantly. "ENOUGH! YOU ARE, ALL OF YOU ARE BENEATH ME! I AM A GOD, YOU DULL CREATURE, AND I WILL NOT BE BULLIED-"

The Hulk grabs on to Loki by the legs, slamming him down on the floor repeatedly. He growled, "Puny god."

Loki could do no more then let out a small, pitiful whimper.

Natasha was on the roof. She saw Selvig, apparently back to his right mind. "Doctor."

He glanced at her. "Loki's scepter, the energy...the Tesseract can't fight. You can't protect against yourself."

"It's not your fault," she assures him, "You didn't know what you were doing."

"Well, actually," he grunts, "I think I did. I built in a safety to cut the power source."

Natasha nodded perceptively. "The scepter."

Selvig nodded. "It might be able to shut down the portal."

Tony destroys another Leviathan, and falls, tired. He looks up. Yet another group of Chitauri were running at him, guns raised. He motioned to lift his hand, to fight them off, but a bolt of fire quickly eviscerated them. He looked up at Harry, who was, even though he was so high, looking back at him. Tony nodded his thanks. Suddenly, he gets a transmission from Fury. "Oh, no," he says.

"What's wrong?" Asked Harry, through the comms."

"The so called World Security Council has overridden Fury's command," Tony replied grimly. "They've sent a nuke here. To destroy the Chitauri, and everything on this piece of land."

Harry looked around. He saw it. In the distance, a gleaming cruise missile was flying straight at them. Tony flew off in a burst of speed towards it, grunting as he intercepted it, slowly shifting its angle to go towards the portal.

"I can close it!" Natasha called. "Can anybody hear me? I can shut the portal down!"

"No," Tony calls, "Wait!"

Captain America pauses, not sure if he's heard correctly. "Stark, these things are still coming!"

Tony grunted in acknowledgement. "Yeah, but I've got a nuke here that needs to be put somewhere. And I think I've got the perfect spot for it."

Tony flew upwards, with the missile, towards the portal. He goes through. On the other side was a huge fleet of Chitauri. What they'd seen on Earth... was nothing, a speck of dust, compared to this. Through the cloud of soldiers and beasts, Tony could see a mothership. He angled the missile towards it. It was getting hard to breathe, now. He watched the missile veer off, towards the ship, and saw the explosion as it was wiped out. He started to fall.

Steve sees the explosion through the portal. "Close it."

"Wait just a sec!" Harry calls.

Steve turns, almost glaring. "This portal needs to close!"

Harry doesn't even look over. He looks over at the city, and gathers all the alien objects together, sending it back through the portal. "Now, close it."

Natasha nods, and closes the portal.

The portal quickly shrinks, and just as it vanished, a tiny figure is seen emerging from it. "Son of a gun," Steve mutters.

Iron Man falls. And falls. "He's not slowing down," says Harry, worriedly.

Thor swings Mjolnir, about to go fly to save Tony, but Hulk beats him, jumping up and grabbing the man, and bringing him down.

The team rushes up to Tony. Steve checks his pulse. He shakes his head sadly.

Hulk roars! Tony gasped, sitting up. "What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me."

Captain America chuckled, sitting down. "We won."

"Alright. Hey. Alright. Good job, guys," replied Tony. "Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it."

Thor looked seriously up at Stark Tower. "We're not finished yet."

Tony nodded. "And then shawarma after."

Loki looked up at the crowd of heroes above him. "If it's all the same to you, I'll take that drink."

Hulk snorts. The entire group is relieved. It's finally over.

That night, Tony and Harry looked out of the window of the ruined Penthouse. Harry looked at the broken city. Perhaps, with his power, he could try something. He donned his cloak. Tony glanced over. "What're you doing?"

"If it works, you'll see," replied Harry.

He flew out the shattered window.

Levitating above the city, he glowed with power- Imagining the city as it was before the fight, he blanketed his magic around the city. Slowly, rubble lifted off the ground, and the city-goers all stopped and stared in awe at the floating figure, magically restoring the city. Minutes later, the buildings were restored. The citizens of New York yelled and cheered for Harry. He looked around the city. Everything was restored, but the lives lost in the battle could not be brought back. He needed to have done better. He flies back to Stark Tower, entering through a door this time. The Penthouse was fixed as well. Tony looked at him. "Thanks," He said.

Harry nodded. He needed to improve. He had a feeling that though this was the first disaster that'd happened while he was here, it would not be the last.
