A/N: After staying in place for months we had to go to the doctor's office to pick up his prescription, one of those they can't call in. A few days later he starts running a fever and throwing up. He didn't have covid but the flu. He had if for a month. The last few weeks he finally started getting back to normal. I don't think it has been good for him to stay at home so much. He has never stayed sick that long.
I had a hard time getting the dialogue to come together and had to rewrite parts of the chapter. The plan is to get back to more Sam and Drew in the next chapter.
Chapter 26
Conference Room at Secret Medical Facility
Frisco and Jake looked up in surprise as they heard the door slam shut.
"So," Maxie yelled. "You left us to keep us safe! I think you did a piss poor job!"
"Go ahead and take a break, Jake," Frisco took a breath and waited for Jake to leave to respond.
"Yes, I did." Frisco told her. "I don't know why your mother thought you needed to know what I told her. At this point it matters very little."
"It matters to me." Maxie said in a hurt voice. "I missed my father my whole life and I never understood why you weren't around. Like most kids I wondered what I had done wrong. It took me a long time to realize I didn't do anything wrong and it was your loss."
"Yes, it was." Is all Frisco said.
"You aren't going to say anything in your defense?" Maxie prodded.
"There is no defense." Frisco said plainly. "You know now. Does it make a difference?"
"I guess not," Maxie admitted. "You have been really great this last year and you helped rescue Nathan, so I have mostly forgiven you. I just get the feeling there is more to the story."
"Why would you think that?" Frisco asked as he averted from looking at her. He looked at the computer screen in front of him to monitor their searches before looking up at all the surveillance feeds.
"Just a feeling I have." Maxie commented as she continued to look back and forth at the surveillance feeds and her father. "You're really scared for her, aren't you?"
"Yes, I am." Frisco stated without looking away from the feeds. "She is surrounded by Ring agents almost every day. I don't want to move in too early before we know all the players. If we trust the wrong person, it could put her in more danger."
"In what way?"
"She could be kidnapped again and used as leverage against us." Frisco answered. "I want to avoid that. I know you are anxious to tell her who she is, but we must be able to prove it as well. I don't think she is going to just believe it."
"I guess not," Maxie admitted. "What did you leave out of the story you told mom?"
"Maxie," Frisco sighed. "I sometimes still have nightmares of your mom and you girls being killed because of the cases I have worked on. I don't want to give you details of the horror I have seen because I don't want you to have those nightmares either."
"You're still working on that case, aren't you?" Maxie pressed.
"Yes!" he finally admitted. "He had other children that went missing and I have been trying to find them. I am still trying to find the youngest."
"So, you sacrificed our family for his." She said with resentment.
"I may regret this, but I am going to tell you this anyway, since you refuse to leave it alone." Frisco said through his teeth. "I knew what was going to happen to those kids and it did happen to them. You had your mother most of the time and you had Mac all the time. Those kids had sex traffickers that acted as their pimps for years before they were found. I am still looking for the youngest even though she is probably dead."
Maxie walked to him and put her arms around him. "You had nightmares that Georgie and I would suffer the same fate?"
He hugged her to him tightly. "For a long time, I had that nightmare every night."
"It was worse than my imagination, but I am glad you told me." Maxie kissed him on the cheek. "Please have Chuck set up the cameras so I can see Georgie for a little bit. I have missed her for a long time, and I want to reassure myself that she is alright."
"It's only going to be available some of the time," Frisco pointed out. "I don't know what I was thinking making the offer. I can see something going wrong and you jumping in a car and racing to the Restaurant to rescue her yourself but get into trouble yourself."
"Please don't take the offer back." Maxie pleaded. "Just let me know when I can look in on her."
"Alright," Frisco gave in as he started walking her to the door. "I will have Chuck take care of it tonight so you guys can see her in the morning. He is with his family right now and you should get back to yours."
He would make sure that Chuck put the surveillance on delay so if something happened, they could cut the feeds before they saw anything they should not.
Hospital Room
Chuck was sitting beside his father's hospital bed and watched him sleep. He hadn't really spoken to him since he woke up the first time because his Dad didn't remembered them. It was too difficult. He needed his father to remember and help him figure things out.
"Charles," Stephen asked as he was trying to completely wake up.
"Yes," Chuck said with surprise. "Glad you are awake."
Stephen looked at him in confusion then he said, "Oh, boy!"
"What is it?" Chuck asked anxiously. "Do you remember anything."
"I think I remember everything." Stephen said with surprise. "I really screwed up."
They both turned to the door as it opened, and a short red head peeked into the room.
"How are you feeling, Stephen?" Beckman asked. She came more fulling into the room wearing more comfortable jeans and white t-shirt. Sometimes she still missed wearing her military uniform, but it wouldn't be right to wear it here.
"Honestly," he said with frustration. "I am a little freaked out. We got old Diane."
"Speak for yourself Orion." Diane said with exasperation. "How I didn't pick up on the fact that Chuck was your son when I first dealt with him when he first downloaded the intersect, I will never know."
"Well you were busy flitting around the world with Roan when he and Ellie were babies." Stephen said in an almost accusatory tone. "But I guess it would have helped if you had known Frost's and my real names instead of just our cover names."
Diane and Stephen were glaring at each other and Chuck was looking back and forth between them with confusion and then they started laughing at each other. Chuck smiled at them; thankful they weren't really annoyed with each other.
Diane went to the other side of Stephen's bed and reached down and hugged him. "I'm so glad to see you awake and you know who I am."
"As I was about to tell Charles," Stephen said. "I really screwed up, didn't I?"
"A little bit." Diane said as she sat next to him on the bed. "You slipped in the security department when it came to your creation."
"Oh, boy!" Stephen gasped, looking directly at Chuck. "Do I remember correctly that your mother is here? You found her and brought her home? What about Hartley?"
"Yes," Chuck answered with a smile. "Hartley is traveling around with his daughter Vivian with new identities. Mom is down in the school room with your grandchildren."
"Grandchildren?" Stephen questioned. "How long have I been gone this time?"
"What is the last thing you remember?" Diane asked him.
Chuck and Diane waited patiently as he thought about it for a minute. "I was outside of a Ring facility. I remember Ellie being there. She saw me get shot by that Shaw guy."
"I am going to go find Ellie," Chuck told them. "She is going to be so excited that you remember everything. She will probably want to run some tests to check you out."
"Will you get your mother to come too?" Stephen asked him. "Now that I am remembering some things we need to talk."
General Hospital
Drew had his head leaned back on the couch outside Oscar's room. He was just dozing until the smell of coffee and bacon made his eyes pop open.
"That smells amazing." Drew said as Sam dangled the bag of food in front of his face.
He opened his eyes and looked at her with longing. He got up from the couch and took the bag and drink holder from her and placed them on a side table. He took her in his arms and held her tight. He sat back down on the couch bringing her with him to cuddle with her in his lap.
"Has he woken up yet?" Sam asked as she played with his hair.
"No," He sighed. "Terry did come by and said that the tumor is the same size. She thinks this episode was caused by stress and he should wake up after his body has had some rest."
"That is good news." Sam told him. They shared a deep kiss before touching foreheads. "I missed you last night."
"I missed you too." Drew said with longing. "I will be so relieved when we have this case wrapped up. I know it will probably take a while to find all of the bad actors in the government but if we just get past finding Alexandria and Tony, I think I may be able to breathe again."
"On that note," Sam said with regret as she got up from his lap. "I better go get set up for that meeting. Knowing Tracy, she is already at the PI office ready to demand the meeting get started."
"You might want to remind her it is still nighttime in California." Drew said. "I made the mistake of saying this morning instead of this afternoon."
"Why don't you take the food and coffee into Oscar's room," Sam suggested as she kissed him good-bye. "Not sure anything will wake him if the heavenly smell of bacon and coffee doesn't do it."
"Be careful!" Drew said as she walked away.
When he walked into Oscar's room, Oscar was waking up.
Kim jerked upwards, waking up when Oscar started moving around.
"Dad!" Oscar exclaimed. "I did something stupid."
"I guess going to confront Shiloh wasn't your smartest move."
"No, not that!" Oscar said adamantly. "I need to talk to Alexis right away."
"Why?" Drew asked with confusion. "What is going on?"
Oscar looked down at his hands. He really didn't want to tell Drew what he had done. "Like I said I did something stupid. Please call Alexis and tell her I need to talk to her A.S.A.P."
Drew went out into the hallway and called Alexis. She didn't answer so he left her a message.
"Ok, I left her a message," Drew told him as he walked back into the room. "You want to tell me what this is about?"
"I know you thought Shiloh was a good guy." Drew said when Oscar wouldn't look at him. He sat down beside the bed next to Kim. "I can guess what you did but there are some other things you need to know as long as you are going to be making changes to your will."
Oscar finally looked up and asked, "What?"
"I know you have Jason as your executor." Drew said seriously. "You will need to change that or have an alternate listed."
"I thought this would bring you two together." Oscar admitted. "I just want you two to be brothers."
"We are, now," Drew told him. "Just not who you think. The man that you have been getting to know as Uncle Jason isn't your Uncle Jason."
"He is really your Uncle A.J.," Drew went on at Oscar's look of confusion. "Sit back and relax, this is a long story."
He gave Oscar a breakfast sandwich for he got started telling him a bit of Quartermaine history.
P.I. Office
"You might want to go get something to eat or something." Sam told Tracy. "It may still be another couple of hours before they are ready."
Sam was surprised Tracy hadn't been there waiting for her to open but that had been a few hours ago.
"I realize it might not be a decent time where they are," Tracy admitted. "But I wanted to talk with you first anyway. I have some questions. I was too shocked when Drew told us what had happened yesterday."
"How did Alan look? How was he?" Tracy asked quickly with anxiety.
"He passed out when he first saw Monica." Sam told her. "He believed she had died from the breast cancer, so his reaction wasn't that surprising. He was taken care of even though he had been kidnapped. He was never mistreated or anything. They messed with his memories so he would cooperate."
"So, he wasn't mistreated in any way?" Tracy asked her anxiously.
"No," Sam answered her with a smile. She reached out and took Tracy's hands. "He and Dawn have spent the last few years tending to Emily. We were surprised when Emilys woke that she had all her memories. I don't think they expected her to wake up."
They both looked over at the large screen in the room when it suddenly came on revealing Alan, Monica and the real Jason.
Tracy's mouth flew open and she covered her mouth with her hands.
"Have we ever seen her speechless before?" Alan had bent down to Monica's ear and whispered but loud enough for Tracy to hear him."
"Well pardon me," Tracy said with indignation. "You were not the one left here to take care of Daddy and the rest of the family!"
"I'm sorry Tracy," Alan said solemnly as he saw tears run down her face. "I am sorry I wasn't there for you when Father died."
Both Monica and Jason looked back and forth at them with shock. Sam was looking at Tracy in shock.
"What?" Tracy asked. "We can continue giving each other crap some other time. We have more important fish to fry right now."
"Right," Alan said. "We can catch up on our fighting after we deal with our treacherous cousin and Tony Cassadine."
Conference Room at Secret Medical Facility
Chuck rushed in the conference room and stopped abruptly when he saw Casey there instead of Frisco.
"Where's Frisco?" Chuck asked hesitantly.
"He needed to get some sleep." Casey answered looking at Chuck questioningly. "He will be back in a couple of hours. What happened?"
"Oh nothing," Chuck tried to shrug. Then under his breath he said, "Nothing some brain bleach wouldn't cure."
"Brain bleach?" Casey said with a laugh. "You walk in on someone having sex. Not so funny is it?"
"No, it is not funny." Chuck visibly shuttered. "I went to go check on my Dad after Ellie got done with her tests and let's just say he wasn't alone."
"You walked in on your parents making up for lost time." Casey laughed again. Before he could say anything else, Chuck interrupted him.
"Please, no peanut butter mixing with chocolate comparisons." Chuck pleaded.
"Why?" Casey shrugged. "It's a good comparison."
"Just don't." Chuck shuttered again.
"Well I guess your Dad is doing better." Casey said with a smile.
"You are relishing this aren't you?" Chuck accused.
"Yes, I am," Casey said with glee. "It's nice payback for all the times I ended up walking in on you and Walker while you two were in the supply closet."
Instead of replying or continuing the unpleasant conversation Chuck looks up at the surveillance screens of Georgie at the restaurant. It was almost lunch time, so things were about to get busy there.
"Alert Shawn and Curtis!" Chuck yelled suddenly. "I don't know what she is about to do but Hannah is on her way to the kitchen with a tranq pen. I'll call Frisco."
Castle
Cole led Hannah into the interrogation room. Pushed her down into a chair and fastened the handcuffs to the table. He was in his black mask so she couldn't see him.
"What am I doing here!" Hannah yelled.
"Didn't anyone ever tell you it was rude to go after an innocent woman with a tranq pen?" a voice came from a large screen in the room.
"I don't know what you are talking about!" Hannah yelled at the screen.
A picture came up on the screen. A video started playing and it showed her walking toward the kitchen with the tranq pen clearly in her hands. She had thought she had concealed it better than that.
"Oh." Was all she said to the voice.
She had decided to remain silent then the silence became unnerving. They were waiting her out for now, but she couldn't be sure how long that would last.
"What do you want from me?" Hannah asked with frustration.
There was more silence before the voice spoke again. "What were your orders?"
"I don't know what you are talking about!" She said unconvincingly.
Again, the screen started playing and she watched as someone was holding her phone and she realized they were trying to get into her phone.
"Good luck with that." She whispered under her breath.
"How long have you known Shaw?" The voice asked as the video continued to show someone randomly putting passcodes into her phone to open it.
"Daniel?" She asked as she watched the hands move quickly over her phone. She would stiffen when they got close to her passcode. "I met him for the first time sometime in 2012 then we ran into each other about a year ago.
"How did you meet again?" The voice asked.
"I was the head of IT for a branch of banks and he offered me a job to provide IT support for a US Marshall's team. I thought it might be interesting, so I said yes."
"Looks like more than a working relationship." The voice said as photos of her and Shaw appeared on the screen.
"Is there a question in there somewhere?" She asked in frustration, but her question was met with silence. She relaxed a little because she knew her phone was probably locked up by now.
Hannah tensed back up when the camera zoomed back onto her phone – unlocked. "How did you do that? It should have been locked up by now!"
"Trade secret." Was all the voice said. She watched as they opened her text messages then they connected her phone to a computer and started cloning it to be able to search the data easier.
"There are some more photos I think you should see." The first photo came up was a photo of Shaw and a beautiful brunette. She could tell by the way they looked at each other they were in love with each other. The next photo was their wedding photo.
"I will let you enjoy the show while we go through the data on your phone."
Conference Room at Secret Medical Facility
"That is kind of mean." Chuck commented.
"Well she deserves it," Frisco didn't look up from watching Hannah as she watched the photos of Brit and Shaw's life together.
"She is starting to look a little devastated." Chuck said as he looked up a moment then back down to the data on the phone.
"She went after my little girl," Frisco said between his teeth. "I will tell her the whole truth later, maybe. You just keep looking. I need to know if she is a willing participant or if they are using her. Whatever the answer is will determine how long I make her watch these photos and stew in them.
Chuck had downloaded all the texts from the phone and had them on one of the big screens.
"I'm going to go check on Georgie and see if she is awake." Frisco said as he walked toward the door. "Let the pictures play over again until I get back. If she starts making too much noise about it get Casey or Sarah to continue the interrogation."
Chuck just saluted Frisco as he walked out the door and then continued going through Hannah's texts.
Hospital Room
Frisco walked into the room and sat down in the chair next to Georgie's hospital bed. She was still sleeping. Frisco couldn't believe that his baby girl was alive in front of him.
He reached up and swept her hair out of her face. As soon as he pulled away her eyes opened.
They stared at each other; Frisco didn't know what to say to her.
"You have been to the Restaurant?" She said with surprise. "How did I get here?"
"You were attacked." Frisco answered her. "A woman attacked you, so we brought you here."
"Hannah!" Georgie exclaimed. "Why would she attack me? She works with my fiancé. I have to warn him."
"It's ok," He reassured her. "She is in custody right now and she isn't going anywhere."
"Ok," Georgie relaxed. "But I need to contact Adam. He usually comes in the Restaurant for lunch after lunch hour."
"I really should get back there for the lunch hour." She told him as she attempted to get out of the bed. Her head started to swim, and she fell back on the bed.
"Are you alright?" Frisco asked anxiously as he got up from his chair. He reached for his phone to call Ellie.
"I'm fine." She told him as she moved slowly to sit up. "It will pass. It always does."
"Do you have a headache?" Frisco asked her with concern. "You were tranqued and depending on what she used, it usually causes headaches and excessive thirst."
"No headache but I could use some water." She told him. "But I don't think she gave me anything. I saw her coming toward me and started feeling dizzy. She could have given me something after I passed out and fell though."
"I will look into it." He told her as there was a knock on the door.
"Ellie," Frisco began. "She said she doesn't think that Hannah injected her with anything. She said she got dizzy and passed out before Hannah got completely in front of her."
"That is correct," Ellie began. "I found no drugs in her system."
"Do you know why she passed out?" Frisco asked with concern.
"I do," Ellie answered with a small smile as she looked over at Georgie. Georgie returned the smile. "I suspect she knows why she passed out as well."
Frisco looked back and forth between them, silently looking at them questioningly.
"That is for me to discuss with my patient." Ellie answered him. "I need you to leave so I can discuss things with her."
Frisco just shrugged and left the room. He was out in the hallway on his way back to the conference room when he realized what had caused Georgie to pass out.
"Like things aren't already complicated enough." Frisco said to himself. Then he looked up and down the hall and saw Mac, Felicia, Maxie, Laura and Lulu headed toward him. He continued to walk toward them thinking, "I am getting to old for this."
