We shared a scary vivid dream that night.

It was on a stormy beach, and two beautiful animals, a black horse and a golden eagle, were going at on the edge of the surf.

We stood there, watching the animals attempting to slaughter each other

"Your true powers...is starting to manifest, my boy. Sea spawn...you're unpredictable so your...bond with my son...will be the greatest weapon...you boys can wield." Said the same raspy voice from the weird dream that was a few weeks ago.

"Who are you?" said Percy. The voice chuckled, "I can...not tell you...my name...I can tell...you that I'm...Zari's father...Your father, is...trying to protect... you...all other questions...will be answered...in due time"

I froze. My father?!

I was shaking with rage, tears in my eyes, "WHY?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE?!?! WHY DID PERCYS FATHER LEAVE?!!!"

I cried for my mom and Mother. They didn't deserve this life they were living right now. All my uncle from him owed some people money

"We left to...protect...you...I understand your...rage, but if we stayed...you and the sea spawn would've...killed"

Percy got a little ticked, "Why do you keep calling me a sea spawn?"

Suddenly the ground rumbled, a dark voice from the cracks of the earth laughing in glee and egged them both on.

Me and Percy both woke up at the same time to a pounding noise that wasn't our hearts this time. It was a storm during the night. But there was something odd about it.

We got our clothes and headphones on, relieved to see it was all just a dream.

The thunder woke up our parents.

"Stupid motherfuckin Hurricane" mutter Momma. I couldn't blame her. There has never been any hurricanes on Long Island at the beginning of summer.

Over all the storm there was a distant scary animal noise that made me and Percy freeze.

Suddenly a someone started pounding on our door, yelling in a desperate voice.

Mother sprang out of bed in her nightgown as Momma threw open the lock.

Grover stood framed in the doorway against a backdrop of pouring rain. He was...different

"Searching all night for them," he gasped. "What were too two idiots thinking?" Momma looked at both of us with the Intensity eyebrow as Mother paled from fear, not from Grover, but why he was here.

"Boys!!" Momma said, shouting to be heard over the rain. "What didn't you tell us about school?"

We were both frozen, staring at Grover. Percy started rub eyes. I pinched myself cause I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"O Zeu kai alloi theoi!" he yelled. "It's right behind me! Didn't you tell her?" We were still trying to comprehend what we were seeing so we didn't realize that Grover just cursed in Greek or that we could understand what he said perfectly.

Grover wasn't wearing pants. He had gotten here in the middle of the night without pants. His legs.

They weren't even...

How?!

Mother looked at us sternly and talked in a tone I know she'd never used before: "Both of you. Tell us now!"

We struggled to get the words out cause we never seen her like this, flashes of lightning illuminating her face that was as white as paper

Momma and Mother grabbed their purses, tossed us rain jackets.

"W-what's g-going on?" I stammered.

Momma said, "No time! Get your ass to the car. All of you! Now! "

Grover trotted to the Camaro quickly. Yes I said trotted. Cause he shaking his shaggy legs. Me and Percy looking at each other. He was ruffling his hair out of stress. My eyes were twitching madly.

And suddenly Grover's story about a muscular disease in his legs made sense. How even though he walks with a limp, he could summon the speed of a tiger when enchiladas were on the menu. Instead of feet being where they should, it was cloven hooves

CLOVEN HOOVES!!!

We were all in the car. Mother's foot was firmly on the gas, even though she couldn't see really well in the rainy night.

Grover's legs were breaking my brain. I thought it was just a costume. But the smell seemed too real, the smell of wet barnyard animal.

Me and Percy still weren't comprehending anything, but Percy asked "So you know our moms?"

Grover kept looking out the window behind us, "Sorta. This is the first time we're meeting in person, but they knew I was watching you guys"

"Watching us?"

"Protecting you. Making sure nothing bad happened. But our friendship isn't fake" said a hasty Grover. "I am your friend"

"Have an odd way of showing it. From the waste down your literally a -"

"Lemme stop you there before you say the wrong thing." he said. "I'm a goat from the waste down"

"How did you know he wasn't gonna say goat?"

"Donkey. Newbies always say donkey" he said, letting out a noise, Blaa-ha-ha, that I always thought was a nervous laugh. Now I realize it's a irritated bleat.

"Why would it matter though?" I said.

"A lot of satyrs would trample you for saying such an insult."

"Wait a damn minute. Saytrs? As in the half-goat dudes in the myths?"

"Sally, you better getcho child. Before I do." Said Momma.

"I'm sorry, Momma. No one is telling us what's going on and I'm ready to rip my hair Out cause I'm so confused"

"Still! No cursing!" said Momma sternly.

"Yes ma'am"

"Yes. The half goat dudes in the myths. And so much more. Like Ms Dodds" said Grover.

"I knew it! Why did you lie though?" I said.

"The less you know, the safer you were" he said. "We used the Mist on everyone so you think the Kindly One was a hallucination, but you too are started realize what you really are"

"What the—" the weird roaring noise chasing us drew closer.

"Boy," said Mother. "There's too much to explain and not enough time. Your safety comes first."

"Safety from what?" said Percy.

"Just someone who rules the Underworld and some of his deadly minions." said a irritated Grover.

"Grover!"

"They're the ones who won't shut up" said Grover

Mother made a hard left in the darkness.

"Where are we even going?"

"The summer camp." Said Momma.

"But you don't even want to send us there" I said.

"It's our only option. For your safety" said Mother.

How the fuck is a summer camp supposed to keep us safe from whatever is chasing us?

"All because of some stupid old ladies cutting some dumb yarn" Percy muttered angrily.

"Those were the fates, not old ladies" said Grover. "They only cut string when you-"

All I remember was a flash of light and a big boom before it felt like the car exploded.

I peeled my forehead off the back of the passenger seat, "Son of a bitch!"

"Boys!" Said Momma.

"Someone say something!" Said Mother

"I'm okay..." said me and Percy at the time.

We weren't actually dead, just in a ditch. The doors were stuck and the roof was busted open.

I panicked when I saw Grover.

"Grover!" Said Percy. He was slumped over with blood trickling down his mouth. He can't die. He can't. Even though me and Percy don't know what's really going on, he still out best friend, even if he's half goat!

"Food" he groaned. Few! That was close.

"Percy and Zari" said Momma. "You need to..."

She faltered, looking behind me.

In a flash of lightning, through the mud-spattered rear windshield, I saw a figure stomping toward us on the road. The sight of it made my instinct go crazy

. It was a dark silhouette of a huge guy, like a football player. He seemed to be holding a blanket over his head. His top half was bulky and fuzzy. His upraised hands made it look like he had horns.

Percy gulped, "W-who's th..."

"Run! You boys have to run" grunted Momma.

"Not without you. Never leave family behind" I said. At the next boom of thunder, I broke my window, climbed out, grabbed what ever rock I could find, and threw it past the whatever that thing was. He turned into its direction and ran too it.

Percy pulled Grover out and set him down. We both broke the windows on either sides with strength we didn't knew we had and pulled our Moms out.

"We have to get towards the big tree on the hill" said Momma.

I saw the tree she meant: a huge, White House Christmas tree-sized pine at the crest of the nearest hill.

"That's the property line," Mother said. "Get over that hill and you'll see a big farmhouse down in the valley. Run and don't look back. Yell for help. You have to reach the door"

"You guys are coming with us! And it's not up for discussion"

I picked Mother and Grover ip and put them on my both of shoulders and ran, even though we were slowed down by the weight.

The was a bellowing roar, meaning my trick was over. Percy picked Momma up bridal style.

"You don't understand! Pasiphae's son only wants you guys and me and you Mother can't cross the property line." said Momma.

"Wait, don't you mean the Min—" I started to say, "Don't say his name. Names have power"

The bull man was getting close. I heard the sound of a Camaro being damaged even more.

"Boys," Momma said. "When he sees us, he'll charge. Wait until the last second, then jump out of the way— directly sideways. He can't change directions very well once he's charging and theirs two of you, so he'll have to decide. Do you understand?"

"How do you know all this?"

"We've been worried about an attack for a long time. We should have expected this. We were selfish, keeping you guys near us." Said Mother.

We were still carrying them. And the pine tree was close, but the hill was getting steeper and slicker.

Mother and Momma forced themselves off our shoulders, and took Grover off our hands, "Stop worrying about us. You have the go, NOW!"

We didn't want split up, both we both knew it was our only option.

We sprinted to the left, turned, and saw the creature coming at us. Our bodies reacted before our minds did and we jumped out the way in opposite directions. We had reached the crest of the hill.

He missed us, but was now heading towards our moms, who were retreating slowly away from Grover to lead it away from him.

"Please listen to us for once! RUN!! We can't go with you. RUN!!" Cried Mother.

They tried to sidestep but the monster wised up and caught them before the could run, holding them both by the necks, kicking the air

"Momma!"

"Mother!"

"Go" choked out Momma. With an angry roar, the bull man closed his fists around our moms and they dissolved right before our eyes in a soft bursts of golden shimmering light. Just gone.

Our hearts started pounding in sync, loud enough for the forest to hear. A new rage awoken me and I felt a foreign burst of strength. Percy grabbed me and threw me at the monster with a surprising amount of strength, roaring with rage and sorrow. My vision went green.

The monster, who was about to get to Grover, turned around just as I slammed him into the ground with a kick and rip off his horn, throwing it to Percy, who was in the air, and caught while landing on the Bull man and stabbing it. I held the monster down by the neck with my new strength, as it wailed its dying breath, exploding into golden dust.

We got up and trudged over to Grover, picking him up, and staggered over towards the farmhouse, down the valley. I had tears in my eyes. I wanted revenge. I'll find the bastard who killed our mom and rip them apart.

The last thing I remember was collapsing against a porch wall, hearing a girls voice say, "He's the one. He has to be"

"Quiet, Annabeth" said male voice. "They're still conscious. Bring them in"
